This review is about the bar and restaurant: A delight! Even better than their wonderful Fort William site. The staff are warm and very responsive. They can accommodate your dietary needs with ease since they have, basically, one product: excellent pizzas. The wood-fire oven makes for a crispy outside but fluffy interior. And the beer selection is very good--as is their range of single-malts.

Google
This restaurant serves some of the best pizza I’ve ever had — freshly cooked in a traditional pizza oven, with that perfect balance of a crispy crust and flavorful toppings. The quality of ingredients really shines through in every bite. Service was warm and attentive, making the whole experience even better. An absolute must-visit for anyone who loves authentic, well-crafted pizza.

Google
Fantastic pizza and beers! Everything is local, organic, carbon neutral, responsibly produced and fair-traded. The pizzas are delicious and there are vegetarian options too. It's also very chill, with great service, fair prices, and great location. Plus, it's pet-friendly. Definitely recommended!

If you like craft beer and/or pizza this is for you. Really nice pizza and good ale. Didn't appear to be a kids menu but our 10yo mainly eats adult meal. Clean bar with friendly staff. Recommend.

Google
I was there solo to taste some brews and I was not disappointed! The "secret garden" is a nice touch and the beers are absolutely delicious. I also had some whiskey. I was actually so happy, I went back in the evening for some more beer and pizza. The pizza was good as well, I had the spicy venison. The photos are from the first time I went there, early in the day where the secret garden was practically empty.

Google
Very cool place. Downstairs is standard pub-style. The not so hidden secret is the rooftop beer garden. Great spot to hang out. Even has tiny rooms/huts that are cool spot to share company. Good beer selection.

Google
Went there for lunch today (Sunday 29 June). Friendly, welcoming staff. Functionally furnished with a number of big tables with benches as well as smaller ones. Good selection of tasty pizzas, but more importantly, a huge selection of beers (26 on tap today), from session beers to some up to 12%abv. Thirds of a pint available for tasters. Highly recommended. A few minutes walk from the bus and railway stations; perhaps a few minutes longer on the way back!

Google
Excellent visit! The beer was superb, very friendly service and loved the 'secret garden' . So pleased to see the Black Isle Brewery doing so well. Local and organic, what is better than that! Well done guys.

Yelp
Very good pizza, but great beer. Bought an eight pack (hand carried) and t-shirt to bring back to the states.

Yelp
We got back in town late from a day tour and were on the hunt for dinner. Most of the pubs' kitchens were closed when we found Black Isle. It was packed so we opted to order their black pudding and goat cheese pizza with a salad for takeaway. The pizza was delicious! Savory black pudding and tangy goat cheese atop crispy wood fire crust drizzled with wild scottish honey. For those that aren't afraid of black pudding, this one isn't to be missed

Yelp
Pizza was awesome!! Ordered a simple pepperoni pizza, a mushroom and - we came at the perfect time - because right when we were sat, and got our drinks and pizza there was some kind of a rush. People there were stellar - service was on top. Definitely recommend! Ambiance was casual and simple. Urban fun!

Yelp
Great service, beer & pizza. Estimated 30 min wait for pizza, it was out in 16!! We ordered a plain cheese for our 7year old, they mistakenly brought out a pesto margarita and immediately let me know the chef is remaking the plain cheese, as they made a mistake. Awesome service! Kids cheese pizza was out minutes later and all was well!! -they let us have the pesto marg, it was delish too!

Yelp
Craft beer snob states the beer selection is outstanding. Pizza crust is nice and crispy, not too impressed with the pepperoni, chili and honey pizza overall.

Yelp
3.5 stars. I found the pizza to be fine. Although I wouldn't have a problem returning, I would hope there are better pizza places in the area. I did like their selection of beers.
google avatar

Yelp
Pizza to go was good. Place was packed. Grabbed a whisky at the bar. Great list. Interiors were modern and fun.

Yelp
We loved the location in Fort Williams so much we were excited to try this location. It did not disappoint. I would say the atmosphere was not as nice and the service was not as friendly, but the pizza and beer did not disappoint. They also had a much larger selection of pizza and salads than we found in Fort Williams so that was nice.

Yelp
Checking out the better pizza places in the world is an important part of our travel. That doesn't always work out, but is certainly did in this instance. The sauce and crust is so critical in a good pizza, and Black Isle succeeds in both. Their sauce is rich and flavorful with a very good texture. The crust thin and with cornmeal (or equivalent) underneath which helps crisp the bottom and imparts additional flavor and texture. All of our pizzas (The Hebridean, Goat Cheese and Balsamic, and Venison Salami) were well-topped with fresh, locally sourced ingredients - all balanced and delicious. My mouth is watering just thinking back on it. The bar itself is comfortable, but since the day was warm we took advantage of the Secret Garden, the Black Isle's rooftop patio. The vibe of the bar is repeated in the Garden, which includes several "beach houses" for more private dining (or in our case, to escape the rain shower that rolled through) as well as a variety of tables open to the sky and under shelters. Things to know: * If you are not from Inverness, be aware that street parking is limited is not free and is of limited time (the stated time and no more - you will have to move to a different spot). * The brewery is not (currently) on the premises, but is open to visitors. Worth a visit.

Yelp
Yummy pizza and great local beer close to city center. Would recommend for a nice meal.

Yelp
WOW, did this place hit the spot. We had the longest travel day from Edinburgh to Inverness and after a long day of covid test and walking we were looking for a place to eat. Unbeknownst to us we stopped into this bar hoping for some comfort food and a good drink. And they delivered! This little pizza place is truly one of a kind. The crust was not to thin nor thick and burnt to a crisp perfection. Red sauce but not to much cheese on top with green and red peppers drizzled with honey made this pizza one of a kind. And truly one of the best I've ever had. No ranch in the U.K. But we did dip this delicious meal in olive oil and red pepper flakes. We paired this delicious pie with a lite cider from the Highlands region of Scotland and a refreshing beer from the region as well. The location was perfect. As is everything in Inverness. Right in the center of the city. A short walk from the Inverness Castle and if you're lucky you'll run into the cutest little bookstore right up the street. We can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Terrific pizzas (had the Hebredian and the Pepperoni/chilli/honey). The cheese plate was good but not great. The beer was exceptional. Ended up having the Colonel Custard's, the Scotch Ale and the Coco Van Porter. All were delicious. Bartender provided samples to have us decide and all we tried were great. Absolutely great experience. Tip: get the chilli oil to dip your slice and extra cheese to sprinkle. Delish!

Yelp
Delicious pizza and great beer selection. We ate upstairs on patio. Good atmosphere and friendly service. Easy location to access on foot while staying in town.
google avatar

Yelp
The pizza was excellent. Service was good as long as you don't mind getting your own drink...an I don't. Enjoyed meeting people at the group table we sat at.

Brian P.

Yelp
Stops serving at 9:30 Sign in the window says till 10. Super busy so tried to order after the rush. I'd understand but the sign legitimately says service till 10. Tourist bar that is not very welcoming

Yelp
Stopped by for food and drinks with family and friends. It was the perfect spot. Enough variety for everyone to be happy. We had vegetarians and non beer drinkers but everyone was still accommodated. I shared and absolutely loved the pepperoni, chili, & honey pizza with the salad. They were both so good.

Yelp
Phenomenal pizza, beer and sustainable business plan. We've been to the brewery and the bar. The pizza is amazing, there's a quiet beer garden upstairs to have a peaceful beer and eat food if the tables are too busy downstairs. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Yelp
Pepperoni. Chili Pizza and beer were excellent. Great atmosphere. Chance to meet other travelers. Restaurant very friendly. Order at bar then sit down
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing beer and great pizza. I recommend taking your pizza and beer up to the rooftop
google avatar

Yelp
If beer, pizza, and a casual fun atmosphere is your speed, stop here. Myself and my parents stopped here for a bite and enjoyed everything. Both the beer selection and pizza selections were vast, ensuring there was a little something for someone. If you aren't sure where to go, definitely give this place a strong consideration.

Yelp
Great spot for a bite. Don't miss their patio upstairs! The pizza and salads are good and the staff are friendly and helpful. It's shared seating so it's not hard to find a spot!
google avatar

Yelp
Went to this bar on a Saturday night, really enjoyable, great vibe, super busy but still able to hear your companions sitting with you!

Tatum S.

Yelp
Great beer and pizza! Highly recommend for a casual bite and pint. Bar service was great!

Yelp
We were only in Inverness for 3 days and came here twice (once just for drinks, then we saw the pizza the group next to us was eating and had to come back). Beers were fantastic, the pizza was incredible, and the vibes were laid back but fun at the same time. We liked the beers so much we even went to find the actually brewery where they made the beers (which was an adventure).

Lyman W.

Yelp
Fantastic selection of beer on tap including some dark porters and stouts. Nice secret garden area upstairs. Pizza looked good.
google avatar

Yelp
This is a lovely gift; it offers Great pizza from sustainable sources, and great atmosphere.

Yelp
Love the pizzas here-especially the olive and caper one and the meatball one. They have lots of craft beer on tap and in bottles, not to mention all the Scottish gin. There's also a roof terrace with heaters that's great at night.
google avatar

Yelp
One of my favorite places to eat (and drink) in Inverness. You MUST order the mozzarella garlic bread. And the Margherita Pizza was equally delicious. We also had the cheese board with oat cakes. We enjoyed 2/4 cheeses, but that could just be due to our personal cheese preferences! There is a secret beer garden on top. We tried quite a few beers from their brewery, and none of them disappointed! They will let you sample from the tap before you buy! The restaurant has a great atmosphere and super friendly (and knowledgeable) staff. Oh, and it's dog friendly (need I say more?). Has a Vegetarian and Vegan Option Pizza.

John B.

Yelp
Great spot for a pint and pizza. Both were excellent. Dog friendly and kid friendly. Quiet and good spot to chill.
google avatar

Kelsie D.

Yelp
Popped in after a long day of traveling and they were pretty quick which we really appreciated. Went on a Thursday and it wasn't super busy, but most weekend nights we walked by it was packed. Pepperoni, honey and chili pizza was very yummy!
google avatar

Kisa B.

Yelp
Great pizza!!! Ate there all 3 nights we were in town!!! Gluten free options as well!
google avatar

Neal W.

Yelp
We tried a bunch of the in-house beers by building our own flights with 5 ounce pours. Nice selection of 16+ drafts. Also tried the venison pizza, which was outstanding. We will definitely try again for dinner if back in Inverness.

Yelp
Noticed by now that I guess Europe isn't big on Yelp reviews. Happened to look around and find this place a few blocks from our hostel. Interior looks like it seats about a couple hundred. 4 long benches, one long table, and about 8 smaller tables. The restaurant boasts to have over 100 craft beers on tab. Their menu primarily consists of fire oven pizza and other Italian like appetizers and sides. We ordered the bruschetta, mushroom and salami pizza, and a side of salami. The pizza was very good, came out in about ten minutes. The bruschetta was not. The bread was barely toasted, there was a lot of tomatoes but almost no basil and absolutely no cheese. The salami would have been fine with other things, but for about 4euro, 5 slices of salami didn't seem worth it to me. I would say for the beer and pizza, this place is great. Everything else on the menu, you can pass .

Yelp
We went to the Black Isle Bar for a pizza and a pint while in Inverness. The pizzas come with a lot of real estate and toppings, and their beer menu is practically unrivaled. It can be a bit tough to grab a table, but those looking for a place to grab a bite could do far worse than this one.

Charles M.

Yelp
Great Pizza and an extensive list of beer from Black Isle Brewery. We found the secret garden upstairs to enjoy the beautiful weather.
google avatar

Yelp
We really enjoyed this Pub. In fact, we loved it so much we came back the next night. The beer was delicious, and everything was well priced! Beers ~£3 to ~£5. Pizzas ~£12. The place is warm and cozy inside. It's also dog friendly. Just be patient, it's a hopping pub so if you can't find seating initially, have a pint at the bar until something opens up. Or find one of the big tables and see if someone won't mind you sitting next to them. My wife and I ended up next to a lovely couple from Lancaster and we got along smashingly (mind you we did have a few pints by that time ) Highly recommended--5 Stars!

Yelp
A night out in Inverness at the beginning of winter requires one to pump some jolly in to your spirit. Black Isle does the trick. Stop by for plenty of taps and some whiskey options. If seating is difficult, head on up to the secret garden roof top. Nice area to relax outside in a covered hut like space with heat lamps.
google avatar

Yelp
Very cool beer garden on top to chill at, and an impressive beer selection. Relaxed atmosphere, and good place to spend some good time with friends. Now then, onto the 2 star review.... Again, I could give a flying leap that your produce is organic, locally sourced meat, etc.... it is still wrong to overcharge people for crap pizza. My meatballs were dry, and the sauce (and "natural" cheese) had no seasoning. Pretty sure salt is natural....try it sometimes. The grittiness on the bottom of the crust didn't help. Just come here for beers, people. I am sure you can find better pizza in Scotland
google avatar

Yelp
Stayed in Inverness two nights and both nights we came to Black Isle Bar. That good. Plus, last Europe trip I had a Black Isle Amber beer (not sure where, maybe Edinburgh) and when I found out we were going to Inverness, we stayed at a local hotel less than a block away from the pub! My lucky first night they had the Black Isle Amber on cask and regular tap so I was treated to both. They have a really good selection of their own beers (around 10 or so) plus some guest taps. Food was mostly pizza or salads, cheese trays but we opted for pizza both nights since the selection was "unusual" to our tastes. First night we had the lamb meatballs pizza, quite delicious and different to our taste buds. 2nd night we had the smoked salmon pizza, another delicious choice. We also had the cheese tray, a bit small for American tastes, but it was very good! The bar was busy both nights and finding seating was slightly challenging but not impossible and most seating is community based tables. So if you're in Inverness and like beer, you really should check this place out!

Yelp
Some of the most creative, flavorful and fresh tasting pizza I have ever had. Truly unique and one of a kind. Wish I lived here so I could eat these wonderful creations all the time. Exceptional craft beers as well in a fun atmosphere.
google avatar

David M.

Yelp
Beers all have the same flavour. Pizzas are not good. The only good thing was the tap water.
google avatar

Kyle S.

Yelp
Love this place!!! First come first serve seating. Great beer selection, delicious pizza and awesome atmosphere. It gets very busy, but have the right mindset and enjoy yourself! Make sure you check out the secret garden upstairs. If the weather holds, it's a great spot to drink your beer.
google avatar

Savanna L.

Yelp
I love this place's beer selections and the staff are always friendly. We have been there 3 times now and they remembered us. The bottle selections are steep in price but that hasn't stopped us buying 4 from the coolers. We won't be going for the £56 Cascade any time soon though. The pizza on the other hand is lacking. We've tried the pepperoni, the venison salami, the mushroom, and a special they had with olives and the olive one was the only one that blew me away. The crust is overpowering and simply tastes like dough. It needs more seasoning somewhere. Still, love this place and will keep returning.
google avatar

Julie G.

Yelp
Super cool spot. They have a secret garden on the third floor patio with heat lamps- kept us very warm in the Scottish weather. Large selection of craft beer and yummy pizza! If you're in Inverness- go here for a pint after dinner and warm up.
google avatar

Jeff J.

Yelp
Great food and better service. Guy helped out with what whiskey went with each food. Will go there again when we return!

Yelp
American style craft brewery with great food options, lots of beers to choose from (and cider) and a dog friendly atmosphere:)

Katie S.

Yelp
Came here for lunch today- and found a sunny spot by the window. Beer is great, staff is friendly. Pizza came out super fast! Thin and crispy- just how I like it. The margerita pizza had some sort of basil oil or garlic oil I couldn't tell but it was fabulous!!

Nina M.

Yelp
Amazing food and service! I was visiting from the states alone and wasn't sure if my debit card would work or how to tip and they were extremely friendly and helped me with everything! Highly recommend!
