We had a wonderful, though short stay at the Black Lantern B&B. The host and hostess were very welcoming, offering our choice of sitting areas to have a cocktail before heading into Brunswick for dinner. We had a room at the back of the house overlooking their beautiful , flowering property extending down to the Androscoggin River. The room was cheery, large and very clean. |We enjoyed conversing with the host and hostess who were friendly and outgoing. The breakfast was outstanding--, coffee, fresh fruit, juice and scones followed by an apple pancake and eggs. We highly recommend the Black Lantern B&B, and only wish that we would have discovered it earlier!

Tom greeted us when we arrived and gave us recommendations of where to venture in town. The room was nicely appointed and the bed very comfortable. Judy and Tom served a wonderful breakfast and gave us the recipe. I can’t wait to make it at home. The property had lovely gardens and overlooked the river. I highly recommend The Black Lantern B & B.

Enjoyed warm October days at this picturesque inn. The view from our room of the Androscoggin River plus brilliant foliage was as good as it gets - anywhere. Breakfast was amazing and innkeepers were welcoming and helpful. Will return for future special experiences at Black Lantern Inn.

We were very impressed with our 1-night stay at Black Lantern B&B. Very comfortable room (Androscoggin room), delicious breakfast, quiet, nice view of the river. The property was well-maintained and clean. Tom and Judy were welcoming and charming hosts. We enjoyed walking to dinner at the delightful Sea Dog BrewPub. We look forward to returning again next year.

Very comfortable room. Three walls of windows, lovely breeze, slept like a baby. Warm and friendly hosts made helpful recommendations for dinner and dessert in nearby Brunswick. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast in the dining room and had a great time chatting with the other guests. Top notch experience all around. Will be back! Thank you!

The Black Lantern was a joy. Judy and Tom Connelie were quintessential hosts. Upon our arrival, Tom gave us a rundown on the facilities and provided ideas on where to eat. We stayed in the Fireplace Room, which has a gas fireplace installed for the cooler months. The room was appealing and thoughtfully decorated. Every possible detail was accounted for. We lacked for nothing (not to mention the M & M's in the hallway). Breakfast was excellent! If you want to relax in a chair with a view of the Androscoggin River, that is available also.

Our stay was very enjoyable. I loved the flower gardens and the nice outdoor spaces. We spent one evening just relaxing outside and enjoying the weather and the view. The hospitality was top notch and the breakfasts were excellent. And the room was very comfortable.

This is a cute little B&B. It is run by an elderly couple. It is an older house and the boards creak and the floors are sometimes uneven. The decor is really cute. There are many quilts made by the lady proprietor. They were very friendly and very helpful. Breakfast was amazing. The bed was a little hard. The place is well worth going to despite some small issues.

Yelp
Such a lovely B&B! My husband and I stayed here for a late Valentine's Day trip and we had a wonderful time. The hosts, Judy and Tom, were so kind and attentive, and the breakfast was wonderful! We stayed in the river view room and loved it.

Yelp
Tom and Judy were wonderful hosts. Beautiful rooms and an amazing breakfast. They suggested the best places to go to and we were very pleased. We will be back

Yelp
We wanted a mini getaway so we booked a room at this very sweet B&B. It's the off season and we were the only guests, so it was very quiet. Since there are only three guest rooms I imagine it's a serene place to stay any time of year. The owners were very friendly and served a delicious breakfast. We stayed in the Fireside room, which as its name suggests has a lovely (and warm) gas fireplace. On a cold April night it was so cozy in our room. The whole inn has unique antique touches but with all the amenities you would want. Rooms: Since we were the only guests I was able to check out the other rooms, all of which were lovely. The Fireside room has the fireplace (you'll likely only use it in the winter/fall because it does produce heat), pretty vintage wallpaper, and a comfortable bed with a firm mattress. You have to step down into the bathroom area and the sink is inside the bedroom, which I found to be funky/charming. If you want a tiny bit more privacy book the Androscoggin room. It also has the best view, a little seating area, and it's the only room with a bathtub (the other two have showers). I thought the Garden room was the prettiest room, but that is subjective of course. The photos here and on their website are accurate, the house is very clean and beautifully appointed. A few traveler tips: The rooms don't have TVs but there is one in the common area downstairs for guest use. This didn't bother us but for some it may be an issue (or a bonus). The stairs are steep and may be challenging for anyone with limited mobility (all guest rooms are upstairs). The only very minor complaint I have -and this does not effect my 5 star rating because we knew about it ahead of time- is that they only serve breakfast until 9am, checkout is at 10:30, and there is no flexibility on either (on Sundays anyway, in order for the owners to attend church). We overslept by 15 minutes and they graciously still served us, I wouldn't have been upset if they closed the kitchen as it was our mistake. They also said that checkout was at 10:30, but at 10:18 the owner came to our door to usher us out. BUT, like I said we knew about this ahead of time and still chose to book, and we're glad we did. It was a lovely stay.

Yelp
We will be coming back in two years because we loved Tom and Judy that much. This Inn is ideally located to every point of interest without breaking the bank. There are three rooms to chose from and the accommodations are stellar. The breakfast alone will have you waking up and running down the stairs like a little kid in anticipation of what is coming out of the kitchen. Believe me, I had to sit on my hands so I wouldn't clap in glee when the Dutch Baby came out. Tom and Judy provide the "little touches" and there are too many to mention. Just go and get a room and see for yourself. You will not be disappointed.

Yelp
This is such a nice home to stay in. The innkeepers were friendly and helpful. Breakfast, each of the three days, was delicious. The view of the river was lovely, even though it was still snowy.

Yelp
Great, welcoming little B&B! Just a short drive from all the Midcoast region has to offer! Tom and Judy, the inn hosts/owners are very accommodating, friendly, and inviting. Worth the stay for some peace of mind.

Yelp
The owners were very friendly. The breakfasts were fantastic. I had never had eggs Benedict before & was wary but it was amazing. The garden was beautiful, as was the walk down to the lake.

Yelp
We stayed here a couple years ago. The couple who own this place are so sweet. They were very accommodating as we got in around 3am. The breakfast was delicious both days. My favorite was her eggs Benedict.

Yelp
My Fiancé and I had the pleasure of being a guest of Tom and Judy on the 24th of May, 2014. Everything about our stay was fantastic, from the homemade Rhubarb Muffins and fresh fruit in the morning to the wonderful, warm and friendly demeanor of our hosts (Tom and Judy) to the care that they went to avoid problems with my fiancés severe peanut allergy. All in all, this was a quaint, warm and restful place to stay. We can't wait to get back up that way and stay longer than a day.

Yelp
Beautiful bed and breakfast that's right on the bank of the river in Topsham. There are three rooms, and ours was very nicely appointed: very large and very tastefully decorated with lots of wooden furniture. Beautiful grounds with a garden overlooking the river. A nice assortment of extra toiletries (so our trip to the supermarket to get a razor was unnecessary!). And breakfast the next morning was delicious.

Yelp
No complaints here and only good things to say about this wonderful B and B. The owners are very friendly and helpful with information, the rooms are lovely and clean, the food very good. It also has a great location above the Kennebec River - if you have time to sit and take in the view, it is highly recommended. Would definitely stay here again and highly recommend to others.
