Fantastic burger joint! It’s a little hard to find especially at night, since it’s in the back behind a bunch of other restaurants. They serve halal smash burgers that are juicy, generously portioned, and with excellent seasoning. The seasoning is unique as it has somewhat a middle eastern influence, and isn’t something you would find at other burger places. I got the triple burger with fries and everything came out fast. Fries were crispy as well. This is probably one of the best burger joints in the DMV.

Very good smash burger. Very small menu, so only go if you’re looking for a burger. Food comes quickly. Plenty of seating and open dining space. Parking can be a bit tight at times.

Stopped by this burger spot and was genuinely impressed. The beef is fresh, halal, and you can taste the quality in every bite. The burgers come out quickly without sacrificing flavor, and everything feels well prepared and consistent.

We visited Black Salt & Black Sugar as a group of friends this weekend, and it was an amazing experience. Their burger is honestly one of the best we’ve ever had — full of flavor and cooked perfectly. The atmosphere was great for a weekend hangout, and the service was friendly and quick. Highly recommend giving this place a try. We’ll definitely be coming back again!

The burger is SO GOOD here, only odd things are the dining area felt like it was in a state of flux and it was really cold inside. It looks like it wants to have a cute vibe but that it never got finished. Still worth it to go grab a burger

I’ve been to Black Salt and Black Sugar a few times now, and every visit has been excellent. Their halal smashed burgers are consistently juicy, flavorful, and satisfying — easily some of the best around. 🍔 Love their spicy cheese curds. They’re crispy, cheesy, and packed with heat — I look forward to them every time. What keeps me coming back is not just the food but also the creativity and quality they put into their menu. You can really taste the care in every bite. Black Salt and Black Sugar has quickly become one of my go-to spots, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for bold, halal comfort food.

I really like the taste of these burgers. The owner is Moroccan so the halal beef has this spice blend of cumin and paprika and turmeric. It tastes like a kebab on a bun. The cheese curds are also very good.

This is the best burger we’ve ever had. I’m not talking regionally, I’m talking in different states and countries. This is the best burger hands down. The staff are wonderful and accommodating and we come in at least twice a month because the craving hits. If you haven’t tried this place, do it. The value proposition alone is off the charts.

Solid spot for a smashburger, but it could use a few improvements. The atmosphere: The dining area is very spacious. You order at a kiosk, then find a seat. It was freezing inside, and I was not sure if a heater was running. When I came in for dinner around 8:00 PM, it was extremely quiet. The space would benefit from some music to make it feel less empty. The food: The menu is pretty limited to smashburgers, fries, cheese curds, and drinks. I ordered the single-patty smashburger. The cook was great, but it needed more seasoning. A little more salt would go a long way. The fries and cheese curds were delicious, and everything came out hot. One thing I would change is the sauce setup. We got small ramekins of ketchup and house sauce, and it did not feel like enough. A self-serve sauce station or larger portions would be more convenient. The service: I did not really interact with the staff since they were mostly cooking in the back, but the food came out very quickly, which was a big plus.

Not bad but also not the standard burger. I saw the hype and wanted to try this place out. The restaurant is mostly empty except a few random motorcycles. There were almost 0 customers and I was order #4 at 6 pm.... The staff were just waiting for customers. There's nothing wrong with that but there's a reason why it's empty. No where is it advertised that the burger is more of like a burger seasoned with kabob spices burger. So if you want a standard burger this isn't the place for you. The burger was fine if you're okay with spices. I liked it but I felt a little tricked. The fried cheese was also good but it was Super spicy. I didn't notice but my friend couldn't eat it. Also there was 0 hVAC so I was freezing and did not enjoy the sit down experience. I love my friends but it was so cold I just wanted to leave. I would literally give it more stars if they called it "specially seasoned burgers" and fixed the heat.

7 out of 10 burger. I am just rating the burger here because that is what I came for. Also they were just opening when I checked it out so they were just ramping up their game at this point If the last place I went to has the thickest patties i have ever seen, these had to be the thinnest! lol - they were thin, crispy, juicy, a tad greasy and really delicious with the fried egg. It was delicious and I gobbled it up quickly Like I said, they were just getting things setup, part of the restaurant want even finished when I went in, so I will definitely be interested to go back and try them again!

Came here post-worship night with a large group of maybe 30+ folks. The service is quick, the burger hit, and the large space was good for what we needed

I saw this place on instagram and boy did they sell it. Please don't believe the hype as the food is average at best. I walked into this establishment which is surprisingly pretty large even though they only use a 3rd of it for customers which I found kinda odd. I walked to the register and was immediately greeted by the employee. I ordered from a tablet which kept constantly moving so that was kinda annoying but the transaction itself was pretty seamless. The menu is pretty basic, burgers, fries and 1 chicken sandwich. I ended up getting the 3 ounce burger since that is what hyped me up on instagram. The add ons are limited. This was the first time I've ever ordered a burger and couldn't get ketchup and mustard on the burger. Boy was I disappointed. The food came barely quickly and was piping hot. That was the best part as the food itself isn't that good. The smash burger appears to be seasoned well however it is quite tasteless. The 3 ounce patty is paper thin and you taste far more bun than burger. I was ready to be done after the first 2 bites as it was nothing to special. The fries were suppose to be seasoned however they just look the part. Overall the food isn't good and I won't be back. Good service but nowhere near worth the drive.

We ordered takeout from here as our first try. My husband and I both got the double patty burgers with spicy cheese curds and an order of fries. The burgers were cooked well and nicely seasoned. The buns seemed fresh and the sauce was also good. The spicy cheese curds were great as curds can get cold and hard fast. They stayed crunchy and crispy on the outside, gooey on the inside. And they had a real kick! They were out of the non- spicy curds. The fries were disappointing. Nothing special. I'd go back for the burgers and curds again however it's not a top burger joint that I'd go back to frequently.

Came here with my friends and it looked like they were still in their soft opening phase. The space itself is huge but the lack of air was quite uncomfortable. The heat from the grill tops radiates out towards the dining area. There also appeared to be a dessert bar being set up and a water station. The food did not take long after being ordered but everything had a similar seasoning. The crusting on the burger was perfectly crispy and crunchy, meat was not overly greasy, but the seasoning threw me off. The fries had a similar seasoning and it just felt overly salty. The fries were not overly oily and had nice crisp.

Fast service and quality halal ingredients. The chicken sandwich was juicy and flavorful and all the ingredients down to the buns and veggies were fresh and well-prepared. That being said, not my favorite smash burger. It needed salt or like more meaty flavor. The fries portion for $4 was a little small. Beware parking is very difficult. We went on a Friday night and this place shares a parking lot with several restaurants and brewery. Not many spaces available.

The black sugar portion is not open yet so this is only for the black salt part (burgers). You can definitely taste the quality in the burger and the ingredients. Well flavored, really don't need any other condiments. Even the bun is good! Unfortunately our burgers were a bit dry. Whether that was due to overcooking or the patties were simply too thin. We asked for the fries to be hot so they were. Comes with ketchup and burger sauce. They could have filled the fry tray up more for the cost. Very self-service from ordering to pick up. Large open concept with plenty of parking. We dined at noon on a Saturday and were the only ones in the restaurant. Employee said they opened 11 days ago.

I found this spot from instagram in a hidden plaza in Falls Church and the inside was super spacious. My boyfriend and I got a double patty burger and some cheese curds. The wait was a little long, especially since there weren't many people there. I was kind of disappointed with the burger though. I had seen so many great reviews on Yelp but the flavor just wasn't right. I'm not sure if it was too much seasoning or it didn't compliment eachother but it just didn't taste good. I'm all for seasoning, but this one missed the mark. The cheese curds, on the other hand, were great! Super crunchy on the outside and gooey on the inside. Overall, I probably wouldn't come back since the menu is pretty limited but I'm still glad I tried it!

One of my favorite burger places in the DMV area, definitely worth a try. Ordered the triple stack burger with fries, they have a unique seasoning and sauce that they add onto the burger that gives it a stand out delicious taste, slightly sweet, perfect amount of spicy. Still thinking about this burger weeks later.

This was my first time trying a Hilal burger restaurant. The menu simple burgers and a a chicken sandwich option. They also sell french fries and cheese curds. The burgers come in a single, double or triple patty. If you are feeling adventurous they have a Philly cheesesteak burger and a chicken cheesesteak burger option. The sides are seasoned fries, cheese curds and spicy cheese curds. The sandwiches all come with lettuce, tomato, cheese, onions and a house made sauce. They offer premium toppings such as turkey bacon, fried eggs, avacado and caramelized onions for an up charge. When I arrived I placed my order on the single tablet. I did not anyone taking orders. The kitchen is open style so you can see your order being prepared. I ordered the chicken sandwich and a single burger. I also wanted to try the fries and cheese curds. Everything was seasoned with perfection. I would say the chicken sandwich was probably one of the best chicken sandwiches that I have ever had. I was not able to finish but the ratio of chicken to bun was great! The fries and cheese curds were crispy and well seasoned. There looks to be some sort of bakery or cafe opening up sometime soon. If I am in the area I would definitely come back.

The burger and fries were some of the best I've had. The spices were delicious and not at all hot. Great ambiance, nice staff, and spotless. Highly recommend.

Always down to try a new burger place. Black salt's signage is kind of hard to see at night since they don't have outside lights up yet but it's right next door to the brewery. It's pretty big inside with plenty of space between the tables. Decor is kind of weird for a burger joint, looks like the lobby of one of your typical "luxury" apartment buildings in the area. I only tried one burger and it was pretty good, it's not a traditional mix of spices and seasonings that you'd expect but I liked it. Burgers are halal, the bacon is turkey and there's no craft beer or anything like that. Definitely curious enough to come back, hopefully they get rid of the boombox that was blasting music because all it did was made me rush to leave (maybe that's the intention who knows).

I'm genuinely confused about the high ratings and wondering if we are at the same place. First off, the space is really odd. Clearly half of it is not ready for service, it's huge and set up more like a coffee shop than a burger joint. Maybe that will be worked out later? When we came in, it was totally empty and the staff were just standing around. We ordered and paid via a touch screen and then sat down. The fabric chairs were badly stained, which was definitely off-putting. Our food came quickly but that's about all I can say positive. The burgers looked good but one bite and my companion and I were done. There were some kind of spices and sauce used that made the burger excessively sweet--sweet meat is not appetizing. They were also very greasy-- the oil was puddling under the bun. We had fries and spicy cheese curds (we would've preferred regular but they were out), which were so spicy they weren't edible. The fries were fine, but nothing more. If the concept is smash burgers with special spices/sauce, I wish that was disclosed somewhere on the menu, but it was not. Ultimately, we left without eating any more, it was just that unappetizing. Will not be back and can't recommend.

Burger is terrible, only gave 2 stars for the fries which are excellent. You'd think a place that only sells burgers would have it figured out. Burger has some weird seasoning on it (smells like taco seasoning) and the patties are as thin as paper. If you're determined to go you need at least a double to taste any meat but you're better off at shake shack

Interesting name bc all they really sell here are burgers. They are relatively new so I hope they incorporate some of the constructive criticisms below Pluses: 1. They serve halal meat which is great for the population of customers that require their food to be halal Areas of improvement 1. They just opened but it looks like they sourced used furniture which would be great and environmentally friendly but all the chairs are horribly stained. No effort was put into cleaning them 2. Parking is a nightmare because they share a disorganized and disorderly parking lot with several other businesses 3. The menu is very limited as well as their toppings. The main entree is burgers but they don't even have mustard and not much more beyond . Lettuce is also shredded. 4. The fries are pretty basic. Not bad though 5. They only serve smash burgers so don't expect a juicy burger. They put some sort of spice on it which isn't terrible but doesn't work well for burgers 6. Food is very salty 7. Ventilation is poor so you will smell like a burger

A great casual fast food burger place. This is the double burger with caramelized onions. The fries were just fries with seasoning. The burger flavor and sauce were so good. I definitely need to come back and try the chicken sandwich. The cheese curds were also delicious like tiny mozzarella sticks. Quick service as well.

I remember loving their burgers the first time I tried them but they didn't exactly hit the same the second time around but don't get me wrong, the food is still delicious. Fries and spicy cheese curds are great. Quick service. Plenty of room to sit. Looking forward to their cafe/dessert section opening soon!

The food was great. I got a double patty. The bun was pretty delicious as well. Patty was a tad bit dry but not unbearable. The service was amazing. You order and pick it up from the counter. The ambiance was pretty chill. Didn't hear any music playing which was nice, I can have decent conversations and hear it.

Weird flavor - didn't like at all. Strange seasonings and meat tasted odd. Don't think I'll be going back.

I'm the Yelp Robinhood back again to help save yall time and money. So here's the deal the burgers is solid. The spicy cheese curds are honestly real good that's what bumps the rating up to a 4. The inside is clean and has a relaxing vibe. The burger will do the job buts it's def not one of the better burgers in the area I would say it's good though. If you're in the area and in the mood worth giving it a shot, but not worth going out your way 20-30 min for in my humble crispy opinion. Signing off- Ish

Not sure what all the 5 star ratings are for-- overrated is an understatement, for sure! Good burgers, but nothing too wild and I've definitely had better burgers.!

At best it was just OK. The restaurant was nice and clean, but very expensive for drinks. I left with the taste of overcooked burger in my mouth.

Been excited to try black salt ever since they opened in Blacksburg and was super happy to hear they opened in nova. Food is good, and self service is smooth and quick. We got there at opening so we got served in a few min. Venue is huge and decor is really cool.

There is something about the burgers here that when I crave a burger, I now only want a black salt burger! Tonight I tried the chicken sandwich and it was SO delicious and flavorful!!!

We saw it on Instagram reels and it did not disappoint. The chicken sandwich was so tender and the cheese curds and fries were also very good. The triple patty was very good too. The space was very large and they had music playing. We got our food extremely fast. Definitely recommend and will be back!

The burgers are great! These are smash burger style with a delicious thousand island sauce. We added the caramelized onions and avocado which made it good. This place is a bit hidden from the street. Overall, one of the best burgers I have had in a long time!
