Black Sea Fish & Grill

Excellent restaurant in real Turkish/Mediterranean style. The people who work there are actually from there and they do a much better job than any other restaurant I know in NYC. The price is also appropriate, especially compared to the competition. We come here almost every week and it's our favorite restaurant.

During pandemic every restaurant has seats outside, almost on the road with cars passing by. This place sitting is awesome, in the shade and above the sidewalk, private. Food is amazing, but I gave 4 stars for service. You need to ask to get water filled or a missing fork. Otherwise I will definitely come back.

BlackSea Fish & Grill has been on my bucket list of neighborhood restaurants for a while and finally we got a chance to try it after we moving from Rego Park to Forest Hills. We had their Fried Cheese Rolls, Cold Appetizers Platters, Branzino and Kunefe. Everything was delicious, especially the grilled fish, which was tender and juicy. The Kunefe was also a hit for us, crispy layers with creamy filling, it was a perfect ending. I am not sure how they operates before the pandemic because it seems like they are short staffed. The service was pretty slow and the staff might forget your orders. We would love to visit again since their food was amazing. However, we will prepare ourselves with patience or avoid peak hours to beat the crowd.

We live in west Manhattan and when to Coney island for the day. We got hungry and we love seafood and we found Black Sea fish and grill really close to our location. The restaurant. Is very nice and service was great. And the food was delicious. I got the seafood Alfredo pasta and my partner got the grill Flounder, the server was very nice and recommended a buttle of wine and the hummus while we waited for a food .

This is Turkish place with an emphasis on seafood. The menu is not too complex and featuring picture of each dish, so you will know exactly what are you ordering. The food is fresh and served quickly. Also the place conveniently located very close to the beach. So if you are in the mood to have bite and glass of cold beer but not dressed to impress, this is the perfect place as it is very casual and have roomy outside seating.

This place is like a hidden gem. The staff were attentive, pleasant and catered to our every need! Our food was fresh, lightly seasoned to perfection and the way the meat was prepared was “mind-blowing”. The food came out fairly quick. My favorite was the salad, calamari and the fish! The calamari was lightly crisp with a fresh taste; non gamey. My fish was grilled & broiled. The skin on my fish had a crisp that will be remembered forever! The only thing that was annoying was that in the outdoor seating area, on windy days the trees blew dander into our drinks and ice bucket. The staff was happy to replace that. And they did! What ever you do this summer, make time to GO HERE!

I must say we loved Black Sea Fish and Grill. It was our first time to this Brooklyn location. They serve mostly Middle Eastern dishes. Everything was fresh and delicious. We ordered appetizer sampler ( hummus, labne, babaganush, dalma and other) octopus salad. For the main course I ordered Red Mullet and my wife got chicken chops dish. The staff was very polite and courteous. We definitely will come back to Black Sea Fish and Grill.

Wonderful foods and friendly environment. Turkish dessert and hot tea are a great combination to finish the meal. Highly recommended :)

Really disappointed with our experience at Black Sea. They served spoiled meat (it was the Adana) on a mixed meat kebob platter and when we made them aware of this, the manager tried to argue and tell us that it was fresh. We happened to have a friend of ours with us who is a very well known and highly regarded chef in the city. She simply wanted to make the kitchen team aware that they shouldn't be serving this meat anymore, and he continued to argue, accusing us of looking for a discount. For the reasons above, I don't recommend this restaurant. The ambiance was decent and our waiter (not the manager) was very sweet and helpful, but to accuse a customer trying to get a discount when the meat was so obviously pungent and spoiled...not acceptable.

I enjoyed Black Sea more than I thought I would. Inside is massive with a setup for a band/dj, a bar, a private party room, etc. And they have a big patio for outdoor seating and hookah. It's definitely a very pretty restaurant. I came for a 6:15 dinner and it wasn't busy, but by 7/7:30 it was packed. The food itself is fine. Nothing spectacular but it was good. I really enjoyed the liver appetizer. We also shared the hummus and shepherd salad with cheese. I had the chicken mixed grill and shared the grilled salmon as my entree. Loved the salmon, they gave two very big pieces of fish. I also tried the lamb adana and the flounder. The flounder was to my surprise my favorite. For dessert we had the kunefe and cheesecake. Both good. Service was good, their staff is very nice. They just forgot a side order of fries but it was okay because there was plenty of food to go around. Decent cocktails too.

Came for dinner one Saturday night around 630pm and was able to get a seat in their fairly large outdoor seating area (with overhead cover so no worries about rain). The inside is pretty spacious as well and they also have a small.private room with a big table that can fit like 12 people. We asked the waiter for some recommendations and he listed the octopus salad, fried calamari, and branzino as their popular dishes To start, we got 1/2 dozen raw oysters. It tasted fresh and was good. Octopus salad- also delicious and fresh. The octopus was cooked perfectly and had a nice texture. The salad and the dressing complimented the octopus well. Fried calamari- also good. Was only lightly breaded so you can taste the calamari. Potatoes with mushroom- so good. I love potatoes and this dish did not disappoint.it was flavorful. It was hot and crispy on the outside, but soft inside. Grilled whole branzino- nicely grilled but no seasoning or any flavoring which I guess is how most places do it? I'm not usually a fish ordering person

Got shrimp casserole (5 shrimp-$28) which was great except I wish there was more shrimp & it was full of bell peppers. Guess the last part is on me since I shuda asked if it contains bell peppers. It tastes like a mix between shrimp curry w/o all the spices & tomato soup. The sauce was good. It came with flavorful white rice which also had sunflower seeds in it. My cousins got mixed grill but the lamb meat had that nasty lamb smell. My brother got some kinda fish that was dece. The service was great, for the most part. The tiramisu was amazing!

Greetings and salutations yelpers. After a Kohls run to return Amazon purchases the gang was very hungry. Went to my trusty IG folder of spots to try, checked Black Sea location and bingo 20min drive distance. Have to admit finding parking was a bit challenging, ending up in a pay parking area. Upon entering friendly greeting and asked indoor or outdoor as it was a cool evening we selected outdoors. People as we were escorted to tables the aroma wafting around made my stomach growled more. It wasn't very crowded seated immediately and noticed a few tables partaking in hookah. Our waiter Ahmet was amazing. His smile, handsome easy on the eyes.. lol . He was extremely engaging and offered great recommendations. We were not disappointed. Guys, the food from beginning to end delicious and you can tell it was all so fresh. Appetizers, fried calamari, oysters and my favorite, chargrilled octopus salad. OMG..absolutely Devine. Main course we ordered the Red Snapper Special. It was deboned a plus for me. He was meaty flavorful and love the portion of mashed potatoes and the asparagus was soft yet still had a crunch. Drinks.. shout out to yelp when checking in I received a free wine voucher for dinner whohoo, heck yeah I redeemed immediately. I ordered the Pomojito I love anything and all pomegranate. For dessert we were presented with display to select from. Love this idea as you visually see what you will receive. We selected baklava, rice pudding and cheesecake deliciousness all around. To top it off coffee and cappuccino. We also tried their Turkish vodka with the chaser. Definitely an acquired taste but hey I'm all for trying new things. While dining treated to fireworks in the surrounding area, couldn't view but it sounded beautiful lol. After dining we lingered for almost an hour and loved the fact we were not rushed. (Maybe because it wasn't busy). All in all amazing dining experience, I recommend and will definitely return to try other items. Almost forgot when leaving saw a private room which looks great for a private function.

The order was never delivered. Unable to contact business, line was busy. Wait for 3 hours and then cancelled the order.

We were not sure what to expect once we chose to have lunch at Black Sea Fish & Grill since a number of restaurants frequently shuttered their doors at this same location . But once we walked in and saw the festive Mediterranean ambiance, we had a feeling we were going to have a good meal. We were greeted by very warm staff who made the restaurant truly inviting. I tend to take several photos of my food but I decided to just live in the moment for this nice afternoon lunch. We had the Char Grilled Octopus Salad and it was superb. Followed by the Shepherd Salad, Calves Liver, and Hummus all of which were fresh and delicious. We throughly enjoyed the Butterfly Fish! My Aperol Spritz was also good. Overall, a lovely restaurant that we all very much enjoyed. Good luck Black Sea, we intend to return soon.

VERY impressed with breezy summer vibes here, tasty food, lots of space, close to beach...and BEST WHITE sauce EVAH. Mostly fish with lots of vegetarian, lamb, and chicken options. For all I know the delicious lentil soup is vegan.

We came here to celebrate my husband's birthday. 8 people. On Saturday there is live music. Very nice performance. We really enjoyed our stay as service was at the highest level. We had no need to look for waiter. Everything was coming to our table at a timely and very professional manner. The food was great! We had oysters, salads, octopus casserole, special flounder, rack of lamb and calamari appetizer. Everybody was pretty satisfied with their food. All is tasty and reasonably priced. Our friends said they definitely coming back.

Good spot trying very hard to recover from the pandemic. We were dropping some stuff off nearby and needed to get something to eat so stopped in this restaurant, New York just started to ease the regulations post Omicron, so I wasn't expecting much in terms of service and food but it surprised me. We were fairly early and place wasn't busy for many reasons including the pandemic woes but food was excellent. My daughter finished her Kofte kabob and we have enjoyed our lamb ones immensely. Place was reasonably priced and service was excellent. There were little oversights here and there but overall I would say it makes the location proud.

I hosted my wedding here on January 21st and let me tell you it was an amazing experience. Fatih, the general manager, helped me plan everything with only a month and half notice, and he and his team thought of everything and covered every detail imaginable. They really took alot of stress, worry and thinking off my shoulders and the service throughout the night was amazing. The stage was the perfect place to hold our vow exchange, it was truly a magical moment. The house band, Lyba and Alex were on point! Lyba MC'd the entire night seamlessly and kept us on our feet dancing all night. The food was so delicious. We especially enjoyed the greek salad, cheese rolls, calves liver, octopus and the lamb chops. if you are looking for a place to host a wedding this is the place!

We visited this latest incarnation of Gambrinus (if you know, you know) for Father's Day. When I heard it was a Turkish restaurant I assumed it was a mix of Russian and Turkish dishes given its past history -- but lo and behold, it's a faithfully Turkish seafood spot. The afternoon started auspiciously as I scored a beach day parking spot on a meter (on a Sunday!). Staff was attentive and service started out well, though the Father's Day demand drained bandwidth quickly. It took a very long time for the hot appetizers to come out so we sat quite a while with cold appetizers. They apologized and explained the kitchen was extra busy. It took even longer for mains--which was a real issue for our toddler after 2 hours, so we can to get it to go. But Dad's Day waits aside, the food was good. Highlights include fried calf liver and fried calamari (always a strong test of a seafood place) and the spicy ezme (chopped veggies). All the standards, such as shepherd salad and classic mezes, were good too. I didn't get a chance to try a nice grilled fish (branzini was a popular choice), but my octopus casserole was cheesy, sloppy, and satisfying, even an hour later at home. They have a really smart wine list with well priced selections. I tried a bottle of Turkish rose and it was a good summer pairing. The al fresco/beer garden aspects of the restaurant are preserved, so make sure to check it out this summer.

I love this place. I read a review on here that indicated this was a racist environment. AlI I can say is that I felt welcomed and we were treated very well without a reservation (during covid). Service was impeccable!! Mediterranean food is one of my favorites and this was the best Turkish food I have ever eaten. I haven't been to Turkey yet, but this was perfection. Everything we ordered was wonderful. It's worth the drive from Manhattan. (Covid outdoor seating is warm and very comfortable).

We come here almost every Saturday. Service is excellent and good is delicious but most important the musician Alex plays guitar and sings!! It's beautiful music and performance!! He is so talented. Thank you !!!

Not impressed at all. The only thing I liked was octopus salad, it was really good. We have ordered 2 diff fish entry , Butterfly fish and St.Peter fish and both were overcooked , too dry. Our waiter was very nice and attentive , but once he got a bigger table with more people he forgot about us. I mean I understand , but .... I do not know if we'll be back :(

Some kind of scam is certainly being run here by valet. We had a group of teenagers take our car to park free as the sign claimed in front of the restaurant. We have a Tesla so noticed as well while we were eating the car was being driven with the windows down after it was parked via our app on our phone. Must have been some joy ride... as we ate nervous about our car being driven around town, it was plastered everywhere on the screens around the restaurant that there was free parking on the day I attended as well (Saturday.) When we left the teens removed the free sign from the front and demanded 15$ after showing us where our car was parked (not even bringing it to us..) we went in to ask the manager who immediately got hostile and demanded we give them 15$. I see another review here saying they asked for 25$. Hm... 15/25... do they pick...? Shady valet business backed by restaurant manager. Absolutely insane. Also it was so hot in the restaurant I was dripping wet by the time I left. Not sure if that's sanitary for a fish restaurant or healthy for the wait staff/customers, especially on a 100 degree day with heat advisory and air quality alerts. The poor wait staff was even dripping wet too. It's all about squeezing every last drop of money here. Too cheap for AC. In fact, as far as shady money squeezing, they also tried to fool us into thinking the final bill we got didn't include tip. They charged 70$ in tip and hid it in the item list and included a tip line still... almost didn't see it was included and very easily could be missed if not looked at carefully: , I have no problem tipping. I always leave 20% but it was the sneakiness by management just got me like wow, it's a con left and right here. I hope the wait staff got that full tip after all this crazy stuff happening here. Also check my profile. I don't leave bad reviews, this is my first. Says something, huh? I usually love to spread the love but I was so outraged it's a first time for everything. I don't want more people getting conned. Next time valet may ask for 100$ since it's obviously a random number every time.

Beer is fresh. Beer glass are nice chilled and nicely pulled.. lamb chops are nicely grilled. Yea we're perfectly brewed.. and the kunefa is amazing. what can we ask for more.....highly recommended

I had the bittersweet pleasure of hosting a 1 year commemoration of my wife's passing on June 18 at Black Sea. I have eaten here quite a number of times since they took over from the previous establishment and have always found every dish that I've tried to be splendid and the highest example of Turkish cuisine. They have the finest grilled fish and mezzes in Brooklyn! And a huge patio cooled by the sea breeze a block away. However, they truly covered themselves in glory for this event. We had a party of 24 and the service was impeccable. Fatih, the manager, and Yasin, the owner, went above and beyond what was expected and the guests all raved about the wide assortment of dishes and the extraordinary quality of the food. Suffice it to say that all of these treats were excellent - Turkish Salad, Green Salad, Mixed Appetizer Platter (the best!! I can eat this every day), Fish cakes, Grilled Octopus Salad, Cheese Cigars, Fried Calamari, Calve's Liver Cubes (ok, not a liver lover - no dinner with Hannibal Lechter for me), And a vast array of homemade baklava and other custom desserts. A true feast. Gracious thanks to Fatih and Yasin for an incredible event. You know I will be back. Y'all should try the best new restaurant addition to Brighton Beach!

I don't have much to say about this place. We were celebrating my grandpa's Bday and chose this place because of the convenient location and BYOB. The food was ok, the star of the place was bread and the platter with hummus and other appetizers. Overall, meats were underseasoned but juicy. The service is horrible; if you want something, you should find a waiter come to him and ask to do, they do not check on you. Interesting was when it came to the check. We left a deposit that they "excitedly" forgot to subtract.

Great vibes, great food and amazing service! The fish and kebabs are amazing so is fish soup!

Terrible experience ! Once we were seated, we waited over 10 minutes before someone took our order(I went and called a random waiter, who knows how much longer we would sit waiting). After talking our order the waiter left, and we got our food pretty quickly. But the calamari rings I ordered were disgusting! Oily and greasy, it was hard to enjoy such a nice and easy meat! I put it on the napkin to dry and was patting dry with another napkin, only after that it was edible . When the waiter came asking how was everything I told that my appetizer was terrible, he apologized and left. In the end I saw the calamari was still in my bill, I got totally disappointed that I was supposed to pay for shit like this. Do not recommend, unless you wish to get a horrible experience.

This place is my favorite Turkish Restaurant in NY! Why? Because the food here is always fresh and delicious! They have nice plating and location is steps from the beach. They have outdoor sitting and that's my favorite when it's warm out. The staff is very attentive and caring. When you go there definitely try the octopus salad and my favorite liver cubes. Drinks there deserve a separate review. Overall 10+ stars!!!!!! Thank you everyone that works there for your service!

This place is racist. It's actually a little bit jarring because I'd never experienced anything this obvious before. My boyfriend and I were on the Coney Island boardwalk (about 8 minutes walk away) and called and asked if we needed a reservation or if they had any tables for two available. The woman on the phone said they had tables available and to head over. Immediately as I approached the hostess stand, they had a very weird demeanor and before I could get a word out told me they didn't have any tables. Then when my boyfriend (who is white) stepped in and told them that we had just called and been told there were tables, they made a very fake looking attempt to "check" to see if there were any tables. After watching them whisper to each other and avoid eye contact, they came back 10 minutes later to tell us what we already knew- we wouldn't be seated. I was wearing a dress and sandals and he was wearing shorts, but I looked around and saw other people wearing shorts so I doubt it was a dress code thing. We were actually looking forward to trying this place, but happy to spend our money elsewhere. Ended up going to the West Village and getting fabulous service at a much better restaurant. I'm actually someone who thinks of every alternative before race, and this one felt so obvious it was almost ridiculous. Even my boyfriend was appalled at how obvious it was. They literally could not even fake their facial expressions. They even tried to suggest that maybe we called their Queens location (we confirmed the phone number, and had indeed called the correct location). So please go here if you'd like to step back into the Jim Crow era.

The fish and taramasalata are so delicious here! We live nearby and it's our favorite treat! Fati always takes good care of us!!

First of all, i would like to thank the staff for having such an excellent service. Their hospitality was superb and the food was phenomenal. For appetizers, we had hummus, babaghanoush, shrimp cocktail and calamari. It was so tasty! The shrimp cocktail sauce was amazing. It wasn't your typical cocktail sauce. It had a twist to it which was great. The calamri was served in a cute fish plate and was extremely chewy. Not dry at all. They also served it with a white dressing on the side which tasted great too. All in all, the appetizers we ordered was remarkable and i have NO complaints. For entree, we had fish which we paired it with their house salad. Again, super delicious. I know this sounds a little funny, but I was amazed when they served us our fish. They immediately debone the fish for us. This was new to me because growing up in an Asian household, we had to do that ourselves. And whenever we would order fish in Chinese restaurants, it was served the way it is. So, to me, this was top notch! For dessert, we had Kunefe and paired it with French Vanilla ice cream. I really enjoyed this dessert. As a person who isn't really fond of sweets, this was just the perfect dessert to end the meal. It didn't feel too dark or heavy to ingest. For drinks, we had French Martini (5 rounds each). It was that good!!!! Luckily, we went to this place. Super worth it!!! I highly suggest you stop by when you can because you're missing out!! Will definitely stop by again. Thank you Black Sea team!!!

We definitely needed such a great place like this in our neighborhood that we would always come and eat here. Octopus Salad and special Flounder fry with risotto was phenomenal!! Cold Mix appetizer platter was great oh and they don't charge for fresh Turkish bread . Thank you for great atmosphere as well as the professional service

Came here for lunch on Saturday and really enjoyed our service and food. We came with a baby stroller and they were more then happy to accommodate. It was mid afternoon so nobody was smoking, but yes in the evening I saw them allow people to smoke, we did not have that issue during the day though. The food was fresh and delicious. The prices are similar to all the other restaurants in the area. So comments about pricing are clearly made by somebody who doesn't go out often in this area. We will def be back.

First of all I have to say that the food was very good. Staff were very friendly and helpful. They did their best to make sure you found what you were looking for and that you were satisfied with your meal. I definitely recommend.

Everything was so delicious and Mr. Fatih took care us wonderful. He even gifted a balloon to our son we were definitely super satisfied eating there and will go again for sure.

If you are looking for the texture of real turkish grill an mezze (appetizers) this spot is truly gem in the heart of the town. I only leave reviews for the establishments for paying a lot of attentions and work to their job,service,atmosphere and food you pay which worths each penny you spent. Mix appetizer platter ,grilled octopus salad and oysters are Highly recommended. Thx to the owner and the rest of the staff for being very attentive to their responsibilities.

This was my first time at Black Sea Fish and Grill. The food was excellent and the service was amazing. Fatih took care of us and was extremely nice and responsive to every little detail. He served food right to our plate and served the ladies first - true gentleman. The food itself was absolutely delicious and every single appetizer and entree was enjoyed by the party. First of all I want to start with the fact that the front girl that sits people is wearing a cropped top which is not appropriate for work with her belly button hanging out, second I want to talk about the fact that the bread was cold as if it came out of the freezer and most importantly I wanna talk about the fact that my chicken was raw and I repeat raw. The cheese sticks taste like they were dipped in salt legit pure salty .They rush so much that they don't focus on the quality of the food. The only good thing was the cheesecake legittttttt

The food is OK specifically the fresh bread and humus however the service was awful. From beginning to end you felt completely alone swimming against the current. From waiting more than 30 min for the main dish, to 20 min beer order or the forgotten cups of cappuccinos in a nearly empty restaurant left a really poor taste in our party's mouth.

We've ordered from here many times on the past. Conveniently it is close to home. The food is always perfect. Tonight we ordered for a party. Delivered early. Perfect to prepare before guests arrived but not too early to make the food cold. Needless to say it was a hit.

The food was good, atmosphere and service just ok, a bit on the pricey side. Although, it could be the effect of Covid 19. They automatically added an 18% service charge which I did not appreciate, since we were just 2 people.

Fish entree comes with a small salad and no side. How do you not give a side together with an entree that costs 25? Beyond cheap. As for the salad it was ok. The fish fillet did have some bones. Was not crazy about the taste of it, I guess the spices they used were not that tasty to me.

I came here with my family for a celebration. The staff were so sweet and really did their best to not only provide us with a comfortable experience but also add on to our celebration with their own special touch. Food is unmatched, especially the fish. Chicken was cooked perfectly and appetizers were amazing. Def will be coming again

It was a really great experience, came at a less busy time and the food me and my girlfriend ordered was awesome (Fallafel, St Peter's Fish Grilled, flounder) manager was really generous gave us a cappucino, and berry drink for free(offered a dessert but we are more on the healthy side), really awesome bathroom as well new appliances defiantly on the up and up the food is also priced incredibly well for the portions your receiving, impressive especially being new out of COVID.
