The Best of Colorado Glamping | Vogue

"A former banker turned glamping resort owner and operator, Nabil Saweeres set out to create a special place where friends, families, and solo travelers could get the ultimate camping experience. After years of planning, he opened up Black Tree Resort in Lake George in June 2019. After making the two-hour drive from Denver, you’ll be greeted by Saweeres himself at check-in, along with your very own golf cart (your main mode of transportation around the 80-acre property). Each tent has been carefully designed with sustainability and comfort in mind: the lighting is solar power, and wood-burning stoves supply heat. While you get settled at your tent and kick your feet up on the porch with a glass of wine, Saweeres is personally cooking dinner. (Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and non-alcoholic drinks are included in your stay.) At your desired dinner delivery time, the Black Tree staff will set up the meal in-tent. Afterwards, cozy up in an Adirondack chair by the firepit and roast a s’more or two. The beauty here is being off the grid: There is no cell reception and no wifi in the tents. You fall asleep to the sounds of the wind and wake up to the light of the sun pouring into your tent. During the day, the resort offers a wonderfully curated activity menu that includes horseback riding, fishing, guided hiking, and ATV rides through the forest." - Brooke Ely Danielson

My wife and I embarked on an 11-day Colorado bucket list vacation to celebrate our 30th anniversary. We visited all the iconic stops: Boulder, Estes Park, Breckenridge, Vail, Ouray, Telluride, Silverton, and then headed back towards Denver. Wanting to try something different on the way, we decided to go glamping. Little did we know, Black Tree would become our favorite stop along the journey. We were greeted with a warm reception and guided to our luxury tent, which was thoughtfully designed and equipped with detailed instructions on its amenities. The experience only got better when dinner arrived—by far the best food we had during all our stays. The salmon was absolutely delicious, and the other three meals each day did not disappoint, topped off with a surprise cake that was a sweet end to the day. That night, we gathered around the campfire under a sky full of stars, and just as we wished, a breathtaking shooting star streaked across the sky. Luxurious bedding ensured a sound night’s sleep, wrapped in comfort and tranquility. This was truly a highlight of our adventure. We even decided to extend our stay, cancelling our last planned stop. A special thanks to Nabil and his exemplary staff—your hospitality made this experience unforgettable. This is what Colorado is all about!

Perfection! Family of 5 with 3 teenage girls and we are not the camping type but love being outside & love food. Black Tree was amazing. Able to disconnect and just spend time with each other. Phones only work by the clubhouse which was perfect. Property is incredible with so much to explore. My only regret is booking an excursion because there is so much within a 15 minutes of the property. No need to pay for an expensive activity. The 11 mile canyon and the 11 mile state park have so much to see and do. The staff is amazing and so accommodating. Food was so great. Beds are comfortable. Just great! I can't imagine why anyone would camp any other way!

Black Tree Resort is a great getaway spot! The staff were beyond accommodating, the rooms and facilities were clear and the food was great. We stayed 2 nights with another group and the BT team were great in making sure our stay was perfect. They even setup the food for both groups at one camp site so we could enjoy it all together. We would highly recommend staying here for your next camping trip.

We really enjoyed our 3-day stay. The food was good and the staff was friendly and accommodating. Who wouldn't prefer a hotel-quality bed over a sleeping bag on an air mattress? I thought the lack of water/toilet facilities in the tent would be a problem but the golf-cart drive to the bathhouse was easy and the very classy 'port-a-potty' right near the tent was a god-send at night. The location is scenic and provides a central point for many fun activities but you have to arrange them on your own. We hiked around the lake and through the canyon at the Eleven Mile State Park and explored funky near-by towns of Salida and Buena Vista.

We had an excellent experience at Black Tree Resort. Th e food was amazing especially the BBQ. The service was great and they were responsive to any and all requests. A little far off the beaten path but the location is wonderful once you get there. Having your own golf cart to travel around the resort was excellent. They have WiFi at the main lodge but no service at the tents. Kind of freeing once you adjust to it. Camp fires were easy to start with the propane tanks and provided matches. Also we enjoyed having our own assigned bathroom. Privacy and we could leave our toiletries in the locked bathroom. I would highly recommend a stay at blacktree - great escape with still most comforts of home. Our 17 and 19 year old kids even loved it.

Our family spent a long weekend at Black Tree Resort and had a fantastic time. Everything was curated for an ideal getaway - from the property to the tents to the staff. Nabil, Ruth and Trent took amazing care of us and especially our kids. The beds were super cozy and the meals were delicious - it enabled us to enjoy unplugging in nature with more comfort and way less work than “real” camping. Other highlights include: rafting browns canyon, hiking and splashing around in 11 mile canyon, exploring the rocks and trails around the property, and sunrise breakfast on the deck of our tent. It was the perfect adventure and our kids (4 & 6 yrs old) are eager to go “glamping” at Black Tree again. We’re definitely going back!
