Proposed to my fiancée at Blackbird on the weekend. James and the team were super helpful and made the experience very memorable. The location and attention to detail at the accommodation are next level, would recommend to anyone looking for a peaceful stay in the Mullum hinterland.

From the moment you step through the gate the magical view hits you,breathtaking. Our Pavilion was the perfect space to just be and embrace the sights and sounds of nature. Lucas was a wonderful host who made yummy breakfasts and great conversations. With breathtaking sunrises Blackbird gave us time to stop and enjoy life x🐦‍⬛

I’ve just returned from what can only be described as a truly restorative stay. Perched high in the mountains, this incredible eco resort offers breathtaking views that stretch all the way to the ocean. The rooms are beautifully designed with a meticulous attention to detail—everything has been considered, and it shows. Waking up to that view each morning was truly spectacular. Breakfasts were a highlight too, thoughtfully prepared by Lucas, whose warm hospitality set the tone for each day. If you’re looking to truly switch off and reconnect—with nature, with yourself—this is the place. It’s rare to find somewhere that feels this special. I’m deeply grateful for the experience.

We had three beautiful nights’ stay at Blackbird. We were after a peaceful, slow retreat from life’s hustle bustle and that’s exactly what we got 🤩 Add in stunning views, lovely cooked breakfast (thanks to the ever attentive Lucas) and THAT pool. It was a decadent little break away. We look forward to a return trip.

I recently stayed at Blackbird Byron, and wow—it was an unforgettable experience! We weren’t lucky with the weather when we arrived (huge storm) but the staff were kind enough to come out to greet us in the rain. We were blown away by the stunning views of the hinterland and how beautifully the property blends with nature. The rooms are cosy. Absolutely perfect for relaxing while taking in the scenery. The little touches really made a difference too—comfy bedding, delicious breakfast, and the staff were so friendly and welcoming. They truly went above and beyond to make sure we had the best stay possible. If you’re looking for a peaceful escape where you can unwind in style, I can’t recommend Blackbird Byron enough. It’s the perfect mix of luxury and nature.

I am sitting on the balcony of our pavilion at 6am watching the sun rise over the distant hills and I am beyond grateful. Blackbird is one of those magical places that has been created with purpose. It is an oasis nestled between open greenery and silence. The venue itself is so perfectly put together. It’s organic with its reclaimed wooden beams and it’s contemporary with its polished concrete floors. The team who look after you; are its asset. Nothing is too much trouble and everything is possible. Sharing breakfast around the big wooden communal dining table is the best way to start any day. And booking one of their private chefs for evening dinner - is an experience not to be missed. Blackbird evokes a sense of elegance, freedom, and connection to nature. Much like the bird itself, the hotel can represent a place where you can escape from the bustle of everyday life, soaring into tranquillity and sophistication. This is a retreat that offers both relaxation and refined beauty in a serene, natural setting. 11/10.

Wow! Make it a double. Every now and then you come across a holiday|experience that exceeds your highest expectations - and our stay at|Blackbird Byron did just that.||The spectacular drive along the Tweed Valley Way and the fascinating, albeit|perilous drive upwards along Frasers Road at Mullumbimby Creek|provides an insight into the amazing landscape you are about to experience.||But it is unlikely you will ever witness a better sunrise, and the peace and|serenity of the Byron Hinterland will certainly stay with us for the rest of|our days. We awoke at first light each morning to watch the sunrise, always|accompanied by a symphony of birdlife. At night, the sky became a dome of stars, with the surrounding mountains providing the perfect backdrop. ||Arriving to see two (non-venomous) green tree snakes mating out the front of our unit wasn't on our bingo card, but it made for quite a welcome :).||Founder James Hudson has created something very special in Blackbird|Byron, with beautifully appointed accommodation provided in small|understated units offering spectacular views to Cape Byron and the Pacific|Highway and out to Mount Chincogan. ||The attention to detail in our unit was|noteworthy and it had a real touch of luxury while maintaining a very|earthy, relaxed feel.||There are only 5 units at Blackbird Byron and 10 people is the maximum ever|on site.||Five-course degustation meals prepared by our own personal chef were an|absolute highlight, giving us the opportunity to chat with others staying on the mountain, and the breakfasts each morning were also fabulous. ||It's a short 20-minute drive down to the town of Mullumbimby, and Byron Bay|is just over 30 minutes' away, with the country vibe in Mullum worthy|tapping in to.||A very special holiday experience indeed. Highly recommended.
