Blackbox Theater

This is one of the best club spots around! They often bring in different DJs, including some really amazing ones, and the atmosphere is always top-notch. The bar is open, the vibe is great, and it’s a perfect place to relax and recharge before a busy work week. If you love good music and lively dance floors, keep an eye on their schedule and follow the DJs who come through — you’ll definitely find the right night to unwind and reset here.

we attended Adventure Clubs throwback set and it was a great time! the venue has a super cool set up & was spacious. the staff was kind & got everyone through the line/checked in with the quickness. AND their bar setups are super organized & fast paced as well. 10/10 recommend: we plan to attend the outdoor dub show in spring/summer!

Blackbox is hands down the largest EDM venue in the city. They have the second best sound system and they also have a pretty good laser light show plus LCD screens. They have a lot of Dubstep DJs and they feature house/techno/d&b acts on a pretty regular basis. There are two levels, the pit area is right in front of the DJ and tends to get really crowded later on in the night. The upper level is less crowded, a better overall view of the artists and offers more room to dance. The crowd is very diverse and you'll actually see kids that are 18 all the way up into their '50s. The people are friendly, more so than almost any club in Charlotte and that adds so much more to the vibe of club. Do your self a favor and get your booty over Blackbox

We go here for Bingo Loco it is an experience I enjoy it music, bingo, drinks, DJ and a great MC. The staff is so friendly love it.

Visited this location for bingo, and it was a great time! The space is generous, so everyone can spread out and enjoy comfortably. Plenty of room for fun and games!

Oh man, this medium-sized venue is by far my favorite. Blackbox and the Charlotte crowd absolutely throws it down. Staff are courteous and the vibes are always on point. Bigger venues tend to up the bass and muddle all the details, but at Blackbox, the sound is crisp and clear! Thanks sound engineers! Not a con, but the pit is not flat. It is a slight decline, which can affect dancing. However, it let's us shorter folks have a chance at viewing the stage. A worthy tradeoff. One thing I'd like to see is more trash bins? Maybe it'd help discourage folks littering trash on the floor. I've been here a few times and man... The Sub Focus show was superb. Unforgettable. More DnB please!

Parking was so bad for Sub Focus, no parking nearby, had to park on a street nearby. The venue had wet floors and trash everywhere, what a dump. Chilly uncomfortable environment with a lot of drunks. Went sober to this show and could see how you had to be on something to enjoy yourself. The second DJ was good with great visuals. The main act was Mid at best, have a better playlist and better lasers at home. Why were the visuals trash for the main act. Had to leave early because Sub Focus must just be a medicore DJ live. Don't recommend this Venue currently, shows may be different on other days....Sunday show was underwhelming!

EXCELLENT VENUE!!! We had a WONDERFUL time seeing Rabbit in the Moon. The VIP section was well worth the extra money for us! Look forward to returning in the future💗 The dance floor is spacious, the general admission and VIP areas are divided with a low barrier so you can socialize with anyone on either side easily... and the GIGANTIC industrial fan on the ceiling is EPIC. There's an easily accessible outdoor smoking area as well! Great ambiance, great staff, good time!

On Friday, we went to check out DJ Sam Wolfe at the Cue, adjacent to the bigger room at Blackbox Theater. First of all, I didn't know this place had 2 rooms...1 bigger concert space, and a smaller room (Cue). So in a way, we were disappointed with the smaller space, and less fancy (if any?) light show. For the Sam Wolfe's darker EDM playlist (blend of house and techno?), the lighting was basically just RED...with barely any smoke (which I didn't mind). Sound system was strong though...a bit heavy on the bass, but no problem here. Obviously (my age lol!), I'm not a major follower of the EDM scene now (when I was younger, most definitely YES!), but I'm glad I finally decided to check it out (DJ event, that is!). CUE part of Blackbox was very small, but it had a decent space for dancing...and a solid bar area. Big kudos for the bartender. Despite being a packed room, he was quick with the drinks. I went by the bar at least 3 times, and never had to wait. Surprisingly, there were a few seating areas on the upper level (if you can call it that (?)...and my friend and I got there early enough to snag a cushy couch, so that was bonus. Sam Wolfe did a great job with his playlist, but we just expected a better light show, I guess? After reading some of the reviews, I expected a lot of rudeness by the staff members, but everyone was friendly...so not sure what that was about. Maybe I can upgrade the rating after seeing the main room in the future? Anyway, so glad Charlotte has a cool, alternative venue like this.

so I went to this venue to see ONEWE a Kband formed under RBW ENT. I enjoyed the concert so much! The band was everything and some of the venue staff was very nice while others meh Anyways I would Highly recommend everyone to see ONEWE when they tour It was the best experience of my life I still miss them and its May 4th (the concert happened April 9th) I hope ONEWE can come back to charlotte at a much Bigger venue I cant wait to see how much bigger ONEWE grow in the future! They deserve all the love and attention they are getting

While I don't live in Charlotte, I do visit fairly often and almost every time I do, I try to check out a show. My first time visiting Blackbox was a few weeks ago for Ghastly with friends and with it being a Saturday night I expected it to be rather busy and take a minute to get in... nope. It was a breeze. As was grabbing a drink at the bar. This place is exactly what it sounds like, a giant black box inside. There's an upper and a lower level and the area the DJs played in was kind of in a weird place. The backdrop and what actually looked like the stage was way behind the DJ and it definitely threw me for a loop. The sound had some issues, as at some points of the show it was so loud that the music was distorted and hard to listen to. The crowd also was not the best. Very young, some came across as way too young, especially when I was in the bathroom watching girls so wasted they couldn't walk crawling to a toilet to throw up. Not a good look. Being that it's located near absolutely nothing and after the experience I had, I doubt I will check out a show here again. Bummer, but there's better music venues in Charlotte.

Perfect spot for dancing. Thank you for bringing big name DJs frequently. The EDM crowd always has a welcoming vibe. Bartenders make the drinks strong here and the womens restroom has never been out of tp, bravo ! Each employee I have interacted with has been nice and my friends and I are grateful for a nightclub on this end of town.

I've been to several events at Black Box. The sound/bass is too loud and distorted. Luckily they sell earplugs. The drinks are overpriced.

Awesome show not too crowded. security was friendly to us, there's free water or bottles for purchase.

The staff is absolutely hostile. Bad vibes all around. The venue is also in a terrible location (straight up sketchy). Save your money and skip it! I see live music all the time, all over the world (clocked in at 173 shows last year!) and this is hands down the worst experience I've ever had, which is saying a lot. The parking lot lackey had a napoleon complex and the door guy was screaming at everyone for no reason... we were all just patiently and neatly waiting in line. What a welcome! It seems like everyone who works there is miserable and they want to make sure you are too!
