The venue was gorgeous and the staff was incredibly friendly. I would recommend this venue if you have disabilities, as their staff was seen on multiple occasions making accommodations for concert goers with special requirements. They brought out seats for people in the floor and even carried drinks from the bar down to those in wheelchairs or who had other mobility issues. The sound and view is phenomenal from everywhere in this venue. I was standing on the wheelchair ramp during the Onewe concert and had perfect view of the entire stage. There are no issues with sound anywhere you stand in the venue. The only downside of this venue is their parking lot. Please be careful when going through. It is busted and broken down concrete and I broke my foot coming through the parking lot on the way out of my concert. Please make sure you wear stable shoes and definitely bring your own light source.

Good venue, drinks not expensive, awesome people. DJ booth setup is just perfect, close to the crowd, very inclusive vibe. Sound system is not the best though, if you stand on the side of the pit it hurts your ears. If you are down in the pit- it’s too loud. We still had great time at Wilkinson set!🙌🏻

Went for Bingo Loco with two girlfriends to celebrate two of our birthdays and had an absolute blast! The only complaint is that the tables were way too close together and you were basically on top of the table next to you. Definitely recommend getting there early if youre going with a group to make sure you're able to get seats together. Tried asking a couple groups if they wouldn't mind squeezing down one so we could at least be close and they were less than accommodating. Those two things aside, 10/10 will definitely go again!

EXCELLENT VENUE!!! We had a WONDERFUL time seeing Rabbit in the Moon. The VIP section was well worth the extra money for us! Look forward to returning in the future💗 The dance floor is spacious, the general admission and VIP areas are divided with a low barrier so you can socialize with anyone on either side easily... and the GIGANTIC industrial fan on the ceiling is EPIC. There's an easily accessible outdoor smoking area as well! Great ambiance, great staff, good time!

The quintessential edm venue in Charlotte. The sound systems are great, the staff is amazing, and the prices for drinks are reasonable. (Love the artist themed drinks each week.) Ever since going to blackbox and the other local edm venues. I have grown to appreciate the focus on the sound, lighting, and service. It's ruined PNC and music factory for me, as why would I want to pay 200% more for everything for a far worse experience, where they provide you the bare minimum. I love the crew at Blackbox and hope they keep it going. Check out Cue as well for another great time.

Love this place! It's the second time I've been here for an event. The staff is always nice and funny. They sell ear plugs for the events. They offer lockers and coat check. There are 2 sets of bathrooms..1 on each side. Plenty of parking because I think they use 2 parking lots. They serve alcohol as well. They usually have multiple lanes to get drinks so it goes really fast. Now wheelchair accessible, i have no idea...The event room is 2 story....ALWAYS A GOOD TIME! PEACE & LOVE IS ALWAYS THE VIBE!

Fun time at the event we attended and the bartenders were super friendly. Bathrooms need some serious maintenance: dispensers, faucets, etc.

Came down from Roanoke, VA for Eazybaked. First time here. Felt safe to party and was comforted by security before coming in. Great show. Awesome people. Will definitely be back.

They deserve all the love and attention they are getting

Yelp
On Friday, we went to check out DJ Sam Wolfe at the Cue, adjacent to the bigger room at Blackbox Theater. First of all, I didn't know this place had 2 rooms...1 bigger concert space, and a smaller room (Cue). So in a way, we were disappointed with the smaller space, and less fancy (if any?) light show. For the Sam Wolfe's darker EDM playlist (blend of house and techno?), the lighting was basically just RED...with barely any smoke (which I didn't mind). Sound system was strong though...a bit heavy on the bass, but no problem here. Obviously (my age lol!), I'm not a major follower of the EDM scene now (when I was younger, most definitely YES!), but I'm glad I finally decided to check it out (DJ event, that is!). CUE part of Blackbox was very small, but it had a decent space for dancing...and a solid bar area. Big kudos for the bartender. Despite being a packed room, he was quick with the drinks. I went by the bar at least 3 times, and never had to wait. Surprisingly, there were a few seating areas on the upper level (if you can call it that (?)...and my friend and I got there early enough to snag a cushy couch, so that was bonus. Sam Wolfe did a great job with his playlist, but we just expected a better light show, I guess? After reading some of the reviews, I expected a lot of rudeness by the staff members, but everyone was friendly...so not sure what that was about. Maybe I can upgrade the rating after seeing the main room in the future? Anyway, so glad Charlotte has a cool, alternative venue like this.

Yelp
While I don't live in Charlotte, I do visit fairly often and almost every time I do, I try to check out a show. My first time visiting Blackbox was a few weeks ago for Ghastly with friends and with it being a Saturday night I expected it to be rather busy and take a minute to get in... nope. It was a breeze. As was grabbing a drink at the bar. This place is exactly what it sounds like, a giant black box inside. There's an upper and a lower level and the area the DJs played in was kind of in a weird place. The backdrop and what actually looked like the stage was way behind the DJ and it definitely threw me for a loop. The sound had some issues, as at some points of the show it was so loud that the music was distorted and hard to listen to. The crowd also was not the best. Very young, some came across as way too young, especially when I was in the bathroom watching girls so wasted they couldn't walk crawling to a toilet to throw up. Not a good look. Being that it's located near absolutely nothing and after the experience I had, I doubt I will check out a show here again. Bummer, but there's better music venues in Charlotte.

Yelp
Perfect spot for dancing. Thank you for bringing big name DJs frequently. The EDM crowd always has a welcoming vibe. Bartenders make the drinks strong here and the womens restroom has never been out of tp, bravo ! Each employee I have interacted with has been nice and my friends and I are grateful for a nightclub on this end of town.

Yelp
I've been to several events at Black Box. The sound/bass is too loud and distorted. Luckily they sell earplugs. The drinks are overpriced.

Yelp
Awesome show not too crowded. security was friendly to us, there's free water or bottles for purchase.

Yelp
The staff is absolutely hostile. Bad vibes all around. The venue is also in a terrible location (straight up sketchy). Save your money and skip it! I see live music all the time, all over the world (clocked in at 173 shows last year!) and this is hands down the worst experience I've ever had, which is saying a lot. The parking lot lackey had a napoleon complex and the door guy was screaming at everyone for no reason... we were all just patiently and neatly waiting in line. What a welcome! It seems like everyone who works there is miserable and they want to make sure you are too!
