Invited to an impromptu event, and I had to come up with a memorable gift. Blackstone's of Beacon Hill to the rescue! Not only do they have a dizzying array of gifts small and large, they also stock anything you need as far as kitchen utensils, candles, greeting cards, charming and unique knick knacks and countless other items too numerous to mention here. Pair that with amazing customer service and salesmanship either by phone from Ms. Angela or in person from Ms. Arielle, the staff is top-notch. (apologies if I mispelled Ms. Ari;-) Y'all definitely have to come and have a look around. I plan on coming back in the near future for a more leisurely browse through soon

This neighborhood store is the real deal, and that’s why it has outlived so many kitchen chain stores. The owner and staff know their regulars, and are helpful and welcoming to all. The kitchen section is unmatched—every gadget you could dream of, in a variety of price ranges. Lovely gifts and candles and ornaments, too, if that’s what you’re looking for. Most of all, it’s a way to avoid the disappointments and soullessness of online shopping. I have bought expensive items here (Wusthof knife block, Le Creuset cookware) and inexpensive cookie cutters and gifts.

Great neighborhood kitchen store! Jennifer was super inviting, friendly and helpful with what I was looking for. Definitely will be shopping here more often for my kitchen needs. She even catered to me for a specific color teapot I’m looking for. Definitely recommend!

Google
WOW! Amazing store and staff. I went in looking for a my first everyday use chefs knife already knowing a little bit about the knife world. Everyone there, especially Tanisha did an amazing job of showing me different options in various styles, prices etc. She was just a huge wealth of information, I was expecting to just try a few knives but left with 10x the knowledge before and a much better idea of what I wanted. Tanisha's love for knifes definitely shows. They also offer knife sharpening classes(ask via phone/in person) which I am definitely taking advantage of once I get my knife. Although I did not shop for other items, they had wide array of various other kitchen items plus an extensive online store.

Google
A really cool and sweet shop in Beacon Hill! Has a very home cozy vibe and staff are lovely and caring. Located right next to the Paramount if you wanted to stop by before or after. They have plenty of house necessities in case of an emergency and you happen to live by. Also a bunch of tourist items as well!

Google
Really cute items in this shop, and the staff are super friendly and helpful. I came in looking to make gift baskets for a professional event, and Leslie took so much time and effort to help me find the perfect items, catering to the recipients age groups and interests as well as my budget. Thanks!!

Google
The place to go if you want to buy a knife, or anything you'd need in a kitchen. Super nice staff, good selection, great location.

Google
Customer service was decent the first time we visited, but have been lacking ever since. Not only do we find them entitled and rude, but the selection of goods is overpriced, even considering the location of the shop. Most importantly, we got some of our everyday Wusthof knives sharpened there and they came back more dull/not sharp. Not sure why this is as I can see the blade looks different, which has me worried they ruined/thinned down my knife the wrong way (will be getting my knives sharpened at a professional place like william sonoma, where i originally got them, in the future instead).

Yelp
All the staff were so kind and welcoming, and the selection was the best of any shop I stopped by in Beacon Hill. Super cute stationary and an awesome room of kitchenware in the back.

Yelp
This shop was wonderful & so comfortable to shop in. I must have browsed around for a good 45 minutes. The shop keeper would ask me if I needed help maybe 3 times while there. Otherwise she left me alone to browse. It reminded me in some ways of a hardware store of old where there was so much, so many options, of items to purchase. The pieces ranged from $1-5 gadgets to cocktail & dinner napkins to beautiful high-end cookware. I discovered Blackstone's while visiting my son in Boston and wanting to buy him a little something (egg cups, which can be difficult to find) for his kitchen. Enjoy!

Yelp
I arrived quite late on a Saturday- within 30 minutes of their closing time. I'd called earlier that day to inquire, and the proprietor said they even try to sharpen knives the same day, especially if a customer has brought just one knife. I arrived so late that I wasn't expecting any such service... but the proprietor did not complain a whit--he very graciously took my knife to sharpen (for a reasonable price), then wrapped it in a cardboard sheaf for greater safety on my trip home. While there at the shop, I took the opportunity to purchase a second paring knife (for friends to use, as some have offered to help prepare a meal while visiting...but I'd had only one paring knife). Then Blackstone's proprietors offered some suggestions of where I might like to celebrate my unexpectedly productive and pleasant late afternoon with a dinner out (which is likewise very lovely, btw!). I'd just want to correct any listing online that states Blackstone's offers classes: They apparently haven't for the past year or so, due to COVID concerns, I learned today, and the proprietor said they don't have a kitchen on the premises. So, that info just needs to be corrected (at least, for mid-summer 2022).

Yelp
Stopped in here while walking through Beacon Street area - super cute items, but the owner was unfortunately incredibly rude to multiple customers. Would not return.

Yelp
Great little shop with all kinds of kitchen accessories, but I came here to use the knife sharpening service. They had great prices and the quickest turnaround I've ever had - 10 minutes! Staff was super friendly and answered all my questions, even signed me up for the rewards program so my next sharpening will be free! Highly recommend stopping in.

Yelp
What a cute little place! Awesome staff. Had to get something shipped because I was traveling and came in immaculate condition. Would definitely recommend this place. Looks great in our house.

Yelp
There is good and bad about this shop, but they are honest people. Good: the manager loves knife and is great to talk to, the shop is cute and has some really cool items. Bad: They did a horrendously bad job of sharpening custom knives from an aesthetic standpoint (photos attached) BUT they reimbursed me for the damage If you don't care how your knife looks it's good, but if you're a knife collector then ask a lot of questions, and be cautious. They are reasonable people and will not scam you, but they knife sharpening is exported to another person so make sure to see If you can get in contact with that guy first otherwise he might just send it through a cheap kitchen knife sharpening tool and ruin your blade forever. After being re-embursed I have spent the last month getting knives refurbished and I'm almost back to normal, happy they were able to work with me!

Yelp
I visit this store with great frequency because I always love browsing in any store that sells ktichen and cooking items. This is a Newbury Street institution packing in all kinds of great items in a compact and pleasant space. Last week I was early for an appointment at my hair salon down the street so I wiled away some time admiring all the implements, pots and pans, bakeware, knives, graters, cheese planes and everything else they have to offer. These days, I have a well-stocked kitchen but things do sometimes need to be replaced or a new idea comes into my head about something I want to bake or cook and there is something I must have. For example, I've had it in my head that I must bake some madeleines and to make them I need madeleine baking pans. They have two different sizes of the pans here including a non-stick and I've decided I to return so I can launch a Proust-inspired baking session. (Here is one of many variations of a the basic recipe to get you started on your own madeleine fixation: http://www.marthastewart.com/356451/madeleines ). This store is known for it's knife sharpening service and although I have this done closer to home, I know others who will only bring their precious kitchen knives here for care and upkeep. The draw for me is the excellent and unfailingly pleasant customer service. They will help you find whatever it is you need, will help you select the best option and will proffer helpful advice about your cooking needs whether you are a home cook or work in the industry. Not to be missed when you're strolling down Newbury.

Yelp
Wonderful team at this adorable shop, with a great selection of things for my kitchen, gifts, and goodies. I'll definitely be back

Yelp
Stopped in last week to pick some measuring spoons, very cozy still getting settled in. Everyone had masks on/owners and the shoppers. Used to be on Newbury St., now on Charles and affiliated with Blackstones/gift shop. Website is also very comprehensive. They also will sharpen knives, you can book on website to drop off/pick up curbside and not come into the store. In the store, they were boxing up/gift boxing for other shoppers. Lovely addition to the neighborhood.

Yelp
Fairly good selection of cookware and accessories. Prices are reasonable compared to department stores or online. I have purchased several items from them over the years with the best being my Boos block which is practically indestructible. Helpful and courteous staff.

Yelp
This is my neighborhood, but I don't cook very much. So, I'd never been in this "kitchen store"... WHAT A BIG MISTAKE! STAFF: The owner is friendly & full of suggestions. STOCK: They offer gifts for everyone that has "everything." IE Cookie cutters that turn 1 sandwich into 2 animals, and flasks the look and shape of a real water bottle. FUN: I overheard the most fun phrases while I shopped... "If you have a knife, let me know" "Would you like that tighter or firmer" THE DEAL: The offer a discount card to punch every time you shop and earn rewards...*smile*.

Yelp
Yelp, you bloodhound futhermocker you. One of many stops along the Back Bay Hot Cocoa Crawl, KitchenWares is a Newbury supply store with things edible, moldable, readable, heatable and measurable (for good measure). From signed cookbooks to local hot fudge and boil alerts (yes, it's just a little glass disc) to honey dippers, if there's a kitchen unitasker you're clamoring for, they've got it stacked somewhere in 400 sq ft of shop space. The aisles, er aisle, is tight, so avoid wearing your hoop skirt, m'lady. Worth a healthy scoping, the mixology inventory is very comprehensive. Not so much in the bitters battle (Boston Shaker wins that soundly), but in the silicone cube trays, swizzle spoons and tumbler department, KitchenWares may save you a buck or two over other specialty shops. Staff are chipper as an ice tool, and their acute knowledge of what they're selling is anything by dull. Speaking of, they have in-house knife sharpening. Bonus!

Ariel B.

Yelp
I went to KitchenWares the other day and had a weird experience... I was waiting in the store to get to the coffee ware section while another customer was looking at it. As I am waiting, the store clerk asked me to move out of the way so another customer could look at the section I was in... I'm still not sure why his business was more important than mine. Not sure I'll return as I left without what I went into buy. I wouldn't suggest going here when looking for something specific.

Yelp
Blackstone's has a great selection of gifts you need and gifts you don't really need, but just really want. I was on Charles St yesterday looking for a bunch of little things for Valentine's Day, and stopped in and found a great marble tile coaster with a old map on it (early 1900's) of the Fenway Park neighborhood. Guaranteed to be a one-of-a kind gift in the basket of gifts on Valentine's Day! They also carry the Helen Eddy/Daystar cards (which may be called something else now) which are gorgeous photos of all the great Boston scenes (Fenway, Ducks in the Public Garden, Citgo sign, etc). Wish I had more time to browse ~

Yelp
Iiii don't know about this one, her recommendations were just alright... cool store though good options for sure.

Yelp
Jennifer Hill was so helpful when I bought Christmas placemats that were too heavy for me to carry. She offered to drop it off at the end of the day - what a thoughtful gesture! The staff at KitchenWares by Blackstones are friendly and answered all my questions. I would definitely go back and shop again!!

Ben K.

Yelp
Their knife sharpening service is greatly. Timely turn around and solid pricing. Will be bringing my knives back once that start to get dull!

Beth M.

Yelp
I was disappointed by my experience at Blackstone's. They had what I wanted but there customer service left me feeling like I wanted to retun what I bought. They seemed annoyed with answering my questions.

Yelp
Great local shop with a wide selection of products to sate your kitchen wares appetite. The staff is knowledgeable and super helpful. Tanisha has helped me out many times and is a true gem.

Kat M.

Yelp
Great selection of gadgets, and my knife sharpening was great! No matter who's working, the vibe is always friendly and laid back. Happy to keep shopping here :)

Yelp
Super cute #shoplocal destination for your kitchen odds and ends, and a selection of knives FOR DAYS. It's the perfect spot to shop for your big chef's knife investment because they let you hold each one and test them out to decide which is the best fit and weight for your hand. Already got the knife? This is the place to come to get it sharpened! I was shocked when they offered 24 hours turnaround the week before Thanksgiving. Prices ranged from $15 from my big Asian chef's knife to $6 for my little European paring knife. Definitely worth stopping in if you're in the market for anything from ring pans to decorative paper napkins or anything else you'll find in the kitchen.

Yelp
This place is awesome!!! I came here especially for the knife sharpening. Great prices. The only place that I was able to find where they sharpened them right when I got there. I called ahead, found out if I could come by at 6p (1 hour before close) and if they could do it. 15 minutes later I was ready to go. I have to say wow! I don't think my knives were ever this good! I had to make a bean salsa which was a breeze after sharpening! Also, they have a great selection of items.. all the best brands. The carry Shun knives, so you know they have to be good. The only site I found which even mentioned how to care for Japanese knives vs others. Have to say, when I have more time, I intend on going back! Staff, owner and employee were there, were extremely knowledgeable, funny, and definitely friendly. Surprisingly, it was easy to get parking on Newbury right in front of their store at 6pm. Perhaps I got lucky!

Yelp
Had the pleasure of finding this store looking for cutlery. Was amazed by the service and pleasantness of the owner Jennifer and the Assc Tanisha. They were gracious, knowledgeable, and passionate about what they do. After looking around I was inspired to add on to my list things I could use to enhance the bar and catering company I work for. Quality products with great service. They had to order some items for me so I will be back to support this small business that has a big heart. I recommend you stop by to see their wares. Such a treat.

Yelp
I adore this shop and have become a frequent customer. I am a bit biased though-- I take fitting appointments next door for one freelance job and my other job this store carries their products. Which, to be honest, is what brought me into their shop in the first place, but is not why I keep coming back. I love shopping local, and supporting local shops. They're really the lifeblood of Boston. The curation of the product selection is impeccable, and it's great to be able to pick out something made from independent printers and designers. Just yesterday I was in and found a pack of 8 fabulous coasters that perfectly coordinated with the decor I've cobbled together in my apartment. I've found perfect gifts for friends and family, and lots of treats for myself. I love that they have Boston themed things that aren't cheesy or ridiculously kitschy, so I can send off a little something to a loved one from the city I call home. It's a wonderful little shop and always a stop for me when I'm in the area.

Yelp
I dropped my knives off yesterday and they were ready at 11 today and very, very sharp. Along with knife sharpening, this place has a great selection of kitchen stuff and everyone there is friendly and helpful...

Yelp
I stopped at this place at a Friday night when they were just about to close. Jim, kindly let me in. A very knowledgeable salesman/owner. I picked my sushi knife. Very happy about the quality of it after I tried it in my restaurant. He offered me 10% discount as a restaurant owner which was a very nice surprise. The day after, I got an email from Jim told me I left something in the store holding for me to pick up. On the day of pick up I dropped off 5 of my old knives for blade repair. Very very very reasonable price. Got them back next day in the afternoon. Super! Absolutely professional repair and sharpening. Blades even got polished. Super shiny like they were new. Thank you!
google avatar

Susan R.

Yelp
If you are buying a knife... this is the place to go. Everyone in the shop knows their stuff and is honest in their approach to selling. I've even been told to go somewhere else ( i won't say where), because what I needed wouldn't be back in stock for weeks. good people selling quality goods- plain and simple.
google avatar

Yelp
You can count on Blackstone's to always have a great gift for anyone on your list... including yourself. I have purchased everything from boxers for my boyfriend to a pretend breathing/sleeping puppy for a fascinated three-year-old to an engagement ring dish for my best friend to an awesome one-of-kind sail bag for myself from Blackstone's. The owners are kind, outgoing and always ready to help. They make shopping personal in an often impersonal city. I'll be back again and again for as long as I remain in Boston.

Pamela K.

Yelp
Love this store so much!! They have all sorts of things for kitchen and awesome place to treat yourself or a gift! Knife sharpening is second to none!! Well worth the trip in from North Shore!! The owners are very nice and helpful too!!

Ashley T.

Yelp
Came in earlier today and can't say enough nice things about the store. I originally walked in to just look around and kill time but the two nice ladies at the counter Laura and Tenisha (i think) talked me into buying a knife. They were very knowledgeable and fun. Prices are a little expensive here but I didn't mind as I think I walked away with a great new toy.
google avatar

Amanda Z.

Yelp
I love this place! And Jennifer, the proprietor, is one of my favorite people. My dog and I were out for a stroll when the nautically-themed home decor -- which is my version of porn -- caught my eye. Jennifer welcomed both of us, a treat for the pup included. And the products are so great -- I wouldn't mind buying everything in the store. But, for now, I settled for a Fenway-themed pint glass and pineapple coaster. I'll be back!
google avatar

Shane P.

Yelp
There's something indescribably satisfying about cutting vegetables with a sharp knife. KitchenWares got all 5 of my knives in the condition and I'm happy as could be. Fast turn around time, helped shape one of them so it has more of a rocking motion too!
google avatar

Flannery O.

Yelp
I had some time to kill and I saw this store. I love kitchen stores. LOVE! Which is why I'm so bummed that it's staffed with unpleasant people. I was greeted rudely and actually pulled out my phone to check the hours of the store because I was positive that I had walked in before the store was open or something. I felt like an intruder. But, sure enough, they were open and two minutes after I walked in, new people walked in and the employee who had barely grunted at me was all smiles and "Good morning, how are you?" Look, I know I don't "look" the Newbury St boutique part but money seems to fly out of my checking account in these kinds of stores so, in the immortal words of Vivian Ward, "Big mistake. Big. Huge."

Elaine N.

Yelp
Blackstone's has not only beautiful gifts but many amusing ones as well. They are not only helpful to locals but visitors as well. There is something very personal about Blackstone's on the Hill

Tedd S.

Yelp
In an age when giant corporate stores (filled with shelves of mediocre quality items) are everywhere -it's wonderful to have a small well stocked kitchen store where they have hand selected every item and are super knowledgeable about them all. The people who work there are super nice too! Don't miss KitchenWares - it's a must!!
google avatar

Annie L.

Yelp
Very excited that there is a new kitchen shop on Newbury Street. I just love all of the cool & unique gadgets they have and seem to always be introducing more (I follow them on Facebook and you should too!). They are always showcasing cool new items there. The owner, Jennifer, offers great customer service and attention to detail. Although I have only window shopped, I am planning to go back and purchase a few gift items for my niece who is a personal chef. Great location with cool stuff. I highly recommend checking them out!
google avatar

Clara L.

Yelp
So when your garbage disposal decides to take some piping bag tips hostage, spin them around, and toss out a sad, mangled bit of metal, don't look anywhere else. Trust me, it'll save you loads of time. After 3 stores and alot of worried thoughts that #44 and #45 would never be obtained again, the staff at KitchenWares pulls out the magical box that holds all of the "chain store doesn't carry them" sizes and you walk away fully armed to decorate cupcakes for hours again for under $5. Just when you think you are out of luck on finding the impossible, this store delivers again and again. They know their stuff and love what they do. Well done!
google avatar

Sammy D.

Yelp
If I could give this place 10 glittery golden (or red, as the case may be) stars, I would. The service provided here by Mark (the owner) and Jennifer (a more-than-knowledgeable sales associate) was beyond what I expected for a Tuesday evening drive by, whilst I was looking for the perfect present on a student's budget. They put up with my cell phone incessantly ringing while at the cash register, and even bothered to wrap the two pieces I selected. If you ever need a gift for a hard to shop for individual, this is your place. They're guaranteed to have something to fit your needs and price-point. Go. Now. (You won't be disappointed.)
google avatar

Sheila S.

Yelp
Great selection of your standard and unique kitchen items. We've had our knives sharpened a few times and they've done a great job. They may be a little pricier than your typical kitchenware stores, but their assistance and selection makes it worth it.
google avatar

William S.

Yelp
This is a really cute shop with lots of little knick knacks. You can find something for everyone in this store. But the real pleasure of going in was the people that work there. Not sure who everyone was, but they made my family feel very welcome and gave my kids things to play with and tried hats on my wife and daughter and took pictures of them. It felt like we were at someone's house rather than in a store. They were very personable and got to know as as well. We went in for something we saw quick in the window and stayed for like 30 minutes. It was fun for all.
google avatar

Shuja D.

Yelp
My wusthof classic knives have not been this sharp since I bought them 2 years ago. Get your knives sharpened here, 1 day turnaround and sharpening at a great price!
google avatar

Morgan L.

Yelp
I just moved to the area and this place was super friendly and even gave me a suggestion of where I could find an item after I did not find it at their store! The have an eclectic mix of fun gift/home items...not to mention a great selection of Vera Bradley! They also have great cards of Boston (ya know...the kind with real pictures on them)-I love those!
google avatar

Sara E.

Yelp
We stopped by here while adventuring down Newbury st on vacation. We had been looking for a new cheese slicer and figured this was just the place. We walked in and were greeted by an awesome employee who showed us the cheese slicers but gently suggested checking out a cheese planer instead. We were skeptical but finally decided to trust the self proclaimed 'cheese monger.' We are so happy that he helped us! The customer service was perfect and we are so sad that we don't live in Boston to go here all the time!
google avatar

Xuan N.

Yelp
This place is so cute! The owner is also really nice, and the music playing was great. There are a lot of adorable items, and I was only able to stay for a bit, but found lots of sweet gifts. It's a nice place to just browse around.

Stephan R.

Yelp
Nothing but great things to say about KitchenWares. Been taking my knives here to get them sharpened for years now, and have yet to get anything less than the best service. Ben, (the main counter guy) and Jim (the owner) seem to genuinely enjoy helping people find what they're looking for, and have made some great recommendations, especially when looking to purchase new knives. They also apparently sell refurbished/reconditioned knives, which I did not know before the other day when I purchased a fantastic Wusthof Santoku knife for over 50% off retail. The knife was in great condition and the blade was razor sharp, making quick work of a butternut squash I was preparing that evening. All in all, a great, well-run, locally owned shop that is definitely worth a visit if you're looking to make an addition to your kitchen gadget collection.

Yelp
Beyond phenomenal!!! Excellent customer service. If you are serious about cooking, or a novice, the span the spectrum and give you the guidance you need!

Douglass G.

Yelp
Recently moved to Boston for a culinary position and I have been checking out various local kitchen supply stores around the Boston area including china fair, eastern supply, local root, restaurant depot and a few other quality stores. While each of these has its merits, I would say that the experience and quality of KitchenWares is the best I found. They have most of the "hard to find" specialty equipment professionals want and other supply stores sometimes lack. Best of all the is the customer service. These guys are clearly very knowledgeable and want to help you find the item that fits your needs as a professional or home cook. I will be back.
