Fire Closes the Dead Rabbit ‘Until Further Notice’

How Hard Will It Be to Eliminate Plastic Straws?

"I note that Jack McGarry, co-owner of BlackTail, uses Aardvark paper straws — a high-quality option he says is cheaper than other nonplastic alternatives, stands up to moisture, and 'looks elegant' — and that bartenders use reusable metal straws for the staff's nightly cocktail tastings." - Clint Rainey, Clint Rainey

Interesting drive to the top. I can only imagine how difficult it must be in the winter as it's a multi mile dirt/gravel road. From what I gather, this ski area is generally used by locals. Not a lot of chair lifts but has plenty of black diamond runs followed by blues, etc. Nevertheless, it seems like a fun place to try out on the winter.

Nice place for intermediate to advanced. Really only one chair that can do the 4 or so green runs. Not really a bunny hill. It was great for me just not the kiddo!

Google
Great skiing and great views. Conditions were excellent and the trails were well groomed at the beginning of the day. Fast and efficient check in and we were out on the slopes in under 15 minutes. Has a decent snack/cafeteria. Only negatives were parking is probably inadequate on a weekend and the lifts are pretty basic for a western US ski location. There are way fewer tourists than whitefish mountain though so I prefer coming here.

My son and I had a great time and enjoyed the slopes here. The lifts were struggling to keep running with temperatures around -14 and below so we got to chop it up with some good folks at the bottom of Olympic around the fire pit. Beautiful place and not too crowded. Maybe it was just the cold but we will definitely return.

I used the cross country ski trails here! The trails were groomed and well maintained. The views were stunning!! I could see so far north and south!!! The parking lot had a bathroom so that was nice. No water source at this parking lot so bring your own

Google
Absolutely loved it! Great views and amazing skiing! 10/10 would recommend. No fake snow like whitefish mountain.

Google
The vibe, people and location are 10/10. Truly a little slice of perfection worthy of any praise it receives. This is what skiing should be...

Google
Not a large ski area but the snow has been good, food is relatively affordable, and employees are friendly and helpful.

Yelp
Fun mountain with few lines. We caught it on a day where be snow's was sparse but the great grooming made for a awesome day carving. Ann was super helpful resolving an issue we had with online ticketing. We had a great lunch in the bar.

Yelp
I love Blacktail! It's much more affordable than Whitefish Mtn, and unless you're a double black diamond skier, you have plenty of single black diamonds and easier here. I'm attaching a pic of the view from Muley's restaurant-nice staff! The staff at the cafeteria on the floor below are great too. Ski lessons for the kids have been easy and convenient and they learn a lot. On one particularly cold day, they took a break at 1 hour in to buy the kids hot chocolate. Very cool. They're people who clearly love working with kids. In the lodge-There's also plenty of room for a non-skier to hang out and read by the fire, too. The drive up here is gorgeous too. I feel so lucky to be here!

Yelp
I'm a new snowboarder this is my second year I learned how to board on this mountain and continue to do so the staff are so welcoming and friendly they helped me get my keys from my locked car. The runs are guaranteed to be groomed and won't be opened to the public unless it's safe to go on unlike snowbowl in Missoula so if it's your first time or just want to hit the new little park area def go here

Yelp
How does this place have only one review?! This is where the locals go. Small mountain with a big community presence. Family run resort, where you will meet the owners and their family on the slopes, at your side when you crash, or sitting next to you at the end of the night enjoying a beer after the last chair. Spring skiing this year was pretty awesome. The blues and blacks are definitely easier to handle than other mountains, but the trees and off shoots are awesome. The chairs are well maintained and ran. Muley's bar is tasty, with great burgers and specials and a variety of great tasting beers. The price is right for tickets and season passes. Rentals are about $20 which is awesome. It's overall a much chiller mountain than the other local mountain and it's not corporate and not selling out! 100% Organic and homegrown

Yelp
I can't give the whole resort a five star yet, because I didn't get to ski much of it. So the five stars are for the staff. I was injured on my first run and Blacktail's Ski Patrol did an amazing job! Sedge was helpful and kind. Their whole team sat with me in the lodge, at one point or another, until my ride came to take me to the hospital for x-rays. They all really went above and beyond to care for me.

Yelp
5 stars as far as I'm concerned! Family friendly yet plenty of challenges for the more experienced! Always a great time up here.

Yelp
After skiing all over the world, Blacktail is our favorite. We have been going there exclusively for the last 15 years. Off the beaten path, family owned and operated, affordable and great snow...it checks all of the boxes for us! We come all of the way from Hawaii!

Yelp
Wow! What a great experience! We are here on vacation from California and wanted and fun day of skiing for our family. I'm an amateur skier and my daughter had her first day EVER on the slopes at Blacktail Mountain. Her instructor Trey was wonderful!! He was so kind and patient and my daughter LOVES skiing now. A first time instructor can make or break an experience for a child, and this was a fantastic experience! So thankful for Trey! Melody (the leader of the ski school) was also very nice and fun. All of the other staff at the restaurant, and ski rentals and payment office were so easy to work with. I had a fun day of skiing that didn't break the bank while my daughter was in ski school. So happy we got to experience this magical little place off the beaten path.

Yelp
It's a great hill for beginners. The staff is nice, but unfortunately a lot of the hill was closed.

Yelp
Love this place. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The bar is fun and the food is pretty good. The runs are great and it's nice for those who are NOT looking for extreme black runs. I would give it five stars if I had faster lifts. Five stars for the price point.

Yelp
Great ski resort. Tremendous value for the money. Awesome views. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Yelp
The views of the Flathead Valley, Flathead Lake and the Mission Range are unbelievable! And one of the few ski areas in North America where you start at the top, and back up...will go back time and again.
