A short walk from parking either by stairs or paved walkway are several areas to view Blackwater Falls. They provide scenic vistas of the beautiful water cascading from atop the Blackwater River. Walking is light to medium grades. Parking is situated close to the gift shop with reasonably priced wares like gel candles, lapidary and gem stones, and more. On the other side of the gulch, one can see the upper lookout which is considerably easier for the elderly, or those in need of handicap access. We are hikers with climbing experience, so after driving to the upper lookout, we hiked down the mountain slope to the gorge area and traversed some of the giant boulders. We ended up assisting and guiding two other less experienced hikers out of the gorge area until we were all safe at the parking area of the upper lookout. While there are some amazing views of the falls, the rocks can be a fall hazard, and do become incredibly slippery when wet. No wading or swimming is allowed for a variety of obvious reasons. No trails are maintained, and you enter at your own risk. The grades down are extreme with slanted and steep hillsides. Reliable shoes and gear are recommended. Warning signs advise experienced climbers only! Neither locale is very far from nearby Lindy's Overlook.

Google
Absolutely gorgeous waterfall! The park was clean and the walk was nice down to the falls. Steps seemed to be well maintained and multiple viewpoints for the falls! A definite must stop if you are in the vicinity. I will be back to see the other falls that are very close by!

Google
Beautiful State Park, we came in mid-autumn to explore and enjoy the scenery and we were not disappointed. While I have difficulty with my legs, I was elated to find steps (albeit 400+ stairs round trip) and landings, so I had a much easier time navigating the path to the falls. The hills and valleys were showing their colors the water was flowing nicely cascading over the rim in several areas. We were told there are times in the Spring when flows over the entire rim shore to shore, it must be impressive. There was a nice welcome center with the standard products with their markings. The staff was helpful and friendly and took time to explain the features and sights of the park. We left happy with what we seen and did and enjoyed ourselves. If you're in the area, I would encourage you to stop and enjoy some of the things this park has to offer

Google
It's a beautiful waterfall. Many trails in the park area to walk with various difficulty levels. The entire area is gorgeous with views that are breath taking. My husband and I love this area and try to visit at least once a year. Mid October is the best time for fall foliage and Blackwater River is fun to fish.

Neil Hodges

Google
Gorgeous place to get out and see the fall foliage. Missed peak by a couple days but it was still very pretty. Check the fall foliage trackers early to try to find the peak time and book a place early. Places in and around Blackwater Falls full up quickly during the fall. Plenty of hiking trails and easy access to the falls as well. There are also several scenic overlooks in the area too. If you want an exceptionally scenic drive through nothing but forest do the Canaan loop drive. I went on a Monday and had nearly the entire thing to myself

Yelp
Great free thing to do. Be careful driving ... the roads are curvy and need to go slowily ..plus never know when a deer will jump out. We came 6 months ago after very dry summer and just glad there was some water at the falling. This spring we have had ALOT OF RAIN, so the falls were frisky. Im old and having physical issues but made it down all the stairs and back up but did take a few pauses to rest and enjoythe view. The steps were not easy for short legs and some were uneven. But even with all the rain ... wasnt muddy or slippery. Several viewing stations but worth going to bottom. Lots of ferns and pretty foliage.

Yelp
Did a road trip to West Virginia and stayed in Davis,WV. Blackwater Falls State Park was one of our top on the list to visit while we were down there. There was a big group of us including a baby and dogs, and thankfully this state park we could bring both lol The Falls were really pretty, but you couldn't get very close or venture off the walking path at all. Our favorite was definitely Lindy point! We didn't hear about it until a local at a coffee shop told us to check it out. It was an easy walking path out, but since it was a weekend it was very busy. It was definitely worth going out there though for a beautiful view!! Only downside is that it started to pour down rain, so the trail got really muddy but it made for a fun memory lol

Yelp
The amount of times I've been here in my life are countless, and each and every time is as special as the first time. It's one of my favorite places to visit in West Virginia and a truly special place. It's so peaceful, tranquil, and absolutely spectacular! To see it in all of its glory I recommend that you come in the fall months. I also recommend you check out the view from the other side of the falls as well because the view is much more beautiful. Enjoy :D

Yelp
Had a picnic lunch and then checked in to the lodge. Nice and clean and beds and pillows are comfy. Apparently the cabins are nice but didn't see them. Had a swim in the indoor pool and played table tennis and some games in game room. The only thing was we had blind and no blackout curtain so the parking lot lights made themselves known and the morning light got us up early. Overall we had a brilliant time and would stay again.

Yelp
I was surprised that a valley of this size existed in Central West Virginia, as drives through other parts of the state are typically more mountainous. I hadn't planned a stop, but was diverted by signage and found this to be a perfect park for a passing traveler. Parking was available with a gift shop and visitor center quite close to a boardwalk which leads down to several waterfall views. The falls, more brown than black, still were an interesting sight. The high-tannin water is a common feature of the Carolinas, where flatter land and slow moving water allow tannins to seep in from the ample plant life, but I wasn't expecting to see it in West Virginia. While I wasn't there for a long time, the campgrounds and trails seemed amenable to a visit of any length. For the day-tripper, there was no charge to pay.

Yelp
just make sure you can climb like 20 flights of stairs! what an amazing place! we go back all the time

Yelp
Fantastic state park!! There is so much to see and do. The Lodge is awesome. The staff at the front desk are very friendly and so helpful. I picked up a few souvenirs at the gift shop. It's wonderful that the lodge has a great restaurant. We had the breakfast buffet, and it exceeded our expectations and was very affordable. We were seated along the window with a nice view of the snow-covered trees. We wanted to check out the restaurant for dinner, but it was right before 4 and they weren't open yet. We look forward to visiting again. The Sled Run located within the park is great time! It's just right around the corner from the lodge. $33 a person for 2 hours. The hill is said to be the longest sled run on the east coast. I think it's just right. After you check in with your voucher, you are given a safety demonstration. Sitting on the sled on the conveyor belt is a bit uncomfortable so I have found lying down is more comfortable. If you get chilly there are snacks, restrooms, and area for sitting with a view of the hill. Every time we have gone there has always been great music playing (80s classic rock). I love the firepit outside the best.

Yelp
Beautiful area. I made a detour while heading home to Ohio from the East coast. Quiet, serene, great place for a pit stop or sightseeing. (Visited August 25, 2021)

Yelp
Hard not to give natural beauty anything less than a 5 - definitely deserved here! Parked at the Visitor Center near Blackwater Falls, hit the gift shop, grabbed a bite for lunch (pulled pork was good) & headed down to the falls. Lot of steps down & back but they were in sections with various viewing platforms along the way - some nice vantage points for pics. We also visited Elakala Falls near the lodge (which had EV charging stations!) and searched out Douglas Falls (which is not in the park but is S of Thomas). We also had dinner at the Smokehouse at the lodge - some nice views at the overlook behind the building as well! Great park - great views - great trails! Definitely worth a visit!

Heather V.

Yelp
My daughter and I had a great time. Some nice trails and amazing views. Very informative staff to direct us and they have maps available, a huge help! The views are magnificent!

Jen J.

Yelp
Must-see if you are in the area! Don't be fooled by the "only .4 miles to the falls" main trail misconception as the steep stairs are not for the faint of heart--or strollers or wheelchairs. So beautiful! The laurel was blooming while we were there too. They have a cute gift shop with logo items, gifts, and small local goods. They also have a snack shop with ice cream etc, but we didn't try the food. Great stop and easy to find.
google avatar

Lindsay B.

Yelp
The beauty of this state park is unmatched! The trails are all well marked and pathways seem to be kept really well. There are also really nice overlooks for those that need handicapped access. I only wish I weren't so scared of heights and hadn't looked down because I struggled with the height and drop offs. So many deer that are protected and free roaming, so many drivable outlooks for adventurers of all kinds. Definitely a slice of Heaven to put on your bucket list and visit! Make sure to stop off at Blackwater Trading Company for some snacks (I saw some folks with nachos, bratwursts and cheese and beer) and souvenirs!

Yelp
Awesome weekend, exceeded expectations! We rented a cabin for 2 nights at black water state park in March. Weather was mild but still snow in some areas. I have highlighted different areas of the park for reference. Cabins We stayed in one of the 4 bedroom newer cabins. The cabins were very clean and well laid out. There are two bedrooms on the right side of the cabin with twins beds with a bathroom in between. The larger beds are on the left side of the house with another full bath. The bathrooms were very spacious. Gas fireplace was nice. The kitchen had everything you need to cook. All the basics are included like pots, pans, dish soap, plates, silverware etc. just remember to bring charcoal if you plan on cooking on the grill. There is also a fire pit in the back. Lodge The lodge was under construction when we visited so the restaurant was not open. They did have bathrooms available to use. Nature center There is a nature center by the pond and it was open. Great place to take kids with some activities inside. The pond outside had people fishing. Trails The trails were awesome. Most of them are somewhat of a challenge considering we went in March and even though the temperature was mild there still was snow and ice in some areas. There are also a lot of rocks and tree roots so you will need very good hiking shoes. We hiked about half the trails and they were all beautiful and well marked by colors. The intersections also had signs that helped identify the paths. I highly recommend getting map from the lodge and carrying it on you while hiking. Phone service is spotty and could not be relied on. Sledding hill Highly recommend going at night under the lights. It is very family friendly. You ride a conveyer up the hill while sitting on your sled. Lay back and enjoy the stars. Then you get to the top and pull your sled to the top of the hill. You do get going very fast and it takes a few tries to get the hang of turning and balancing. We took a 2 year old and 4 year old. There is also a nice fire ring at the bottom so other family members can hang out while you go down or warm the kids up. I highly recommend staying for 3 nights if you want to feel like you saw everything. That would give you enough time to hike most of the trails and enjoy the sled hill along with anything else you want to do. Also if staying in the park bring food. There is some convenience stores close but I did not see a grocery store nearby.

Yelp
We stayed in the lodge for a conference and although there were minor issues overall I loved it. The room we stayed in was recently renovated and it was small but immaculate and comfy. The overlook of the gorge was just beautiful. The pool was open but I didn't swim. The park itself is top notch. We loved the trails and the falls are amazing. A couple of things: if you have multiple room keys and one gets reset be sure to get the other reset too. They won't work otherwise. Several people were bunched up to go into the restaurant and no one could be found to seat us. Service was very sparse. They were kind and nice folks but maybe a little discussion about caring for customers is needed.

Yelp
A gorgeous place to view one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the state. Enjoyable hikes and a great time awaits you here
google avatar

Tiffany Y.

Yelp
This is a pretty big park and the highlight is seeing Blackwater Falls. You can do various hikes and also camp in the area, or there is a large parking lot where you can drive up and take a pathway / stairs down to get pretty close to the falls. It's a very well-maintained park and the scenery is gorgeous.
google avatar

Marissa J.

Yelp
What a beautifula park. They also have trails if you feel advetures. The waterfall was enjoy to see. What a fun time with friend and family. We went here for the sledding run. This electrical sledding was so much fun. You 1 hour to take the sledding as many as you like. what a fun time. Highly recommended.

Yelp
This is one of the most stunning State Parks in the State of West Virginia. The views here of the waterfall is breathtaking and the hikes and trails are wonderful which offer different views at different angles in the park. The park is lovely and well kept. Park Rangers available and they are usually always at the large visitors center aka gift shop. There are plenty of picnic tables with grills and trash cans so remember to keep the area clean as well. I try to get in the habit of carry in carry out so that way I take my trash with me to dispose of down the road at a gas station or something. I do feel they can use more signage to help one navigate the park and the overlooks better.

Yelp
Originally planned to stay one night but enjoyed it so much I was delighted they could accommodate me for a second night. The folks who work here are top notch and care about delivering a high-quality experience. The rooms are modern and exceedingly comfortable. I spent one night on the canyon side and the other on the parking lot side. Both nights I slept uncommonly well. The common areas are well-kept and inviting. I enjoyed sitting next to the fireplace on a coolish evening and having a well-lit work area to plot the next segments of my trip throughout WV. Highly recommend and I'm hoping for an opportunity for another stay!

Yelp
We went all the way To the falls this day The rain had subsided As we strolled unrequited Steps by step Inch by inch All in all It really was a cinch

Yelp
Rented a house nearby for the weekend. Really beautiful park, waterfalls and scenic views. The park and trails are really well maintained. Hiking trails vary in difficulty, all are well marked and easy to navigate. Concessions and a gift shop were open for the summer, the lodge is undergoing renovations and will not reopen until the fall. Looking forward to going back in the winter to try the skiing and sled run.

Yelp
Came here on a Sunday afternoon. Never had been or heard of it before. Overall it was good - I enjoyed the falls and going up to Lindys Point and looking out at the valley and mountainside. I would say that the area map was helpful - which I would recommend picking up at the trading post located in parking lot of the main falls area.

David M.

Yelp
Loved our time here!!! West Virginia was beautiful and my family made memories that will last a lifetime.

Yelp
Beautiful waterfall with a nice boardwalk path to the falls as well as another overlook if you do not want to fight the crowds. Busy on weekends even during COVID and most folks aren't wearing masks. You just have to be patient. Preferred Douglas Falls and Ekalaka Falls because you can wade in and get right up to the falls. They are also less crowded because you actually have to hike down rocks to get there.

Kurtis J.

Yelp
Blackwater Falls is a beautiful state park located in Tucker County, WV. I've visited several times over the years to see the falls and walk around but haven't had the chance to do any hiking yet. It's always beautiful, but as with all West Virginia, when the leaves start to change, it's a completely different experience. There are four other falls to visit within the park. While not as large, they're impressive to see if you're already at the park.
google avatar

Johnny H.

Yelp
Great state park and one of the best water falls I have been to in the region. I arrived at 7:30 in the morning at the Trading Post and had the entire falls to myself for almost an hour. The Trading Post was closed, I believe due to the Pandemic, but you would need to check with them on their hours otherwise. It's a short hike to the viewing platform on the west side of the river, the climb up the stairs can take a few extra minutes if you are out of shape. Well worth it though, such an enchanting area.
google avatar

Kaity B.

Yelp
Easy with kids. No hiking just lots if stairs. Went on a Saturday and it was busy but not to crowded.
google avatar

Lisa A.

Yelp
We decided to make a day trip to Blackwater Falls - about 2 hours away from where we live - in the mountains of WV. The drive alone is simply gorgeous. Once you arrive (no entrance fee) there is a large parking lot located near the falls trail entrance. Be prepared to walk LOTS of steps to get to the platform that overlooks the falls. It's absolutely gorgeous!!! You can walk as much or as little as you want - with lots of trails connecting 3 different waterfalls. You can rent canoes and kayaks, and they have cabins available for weekend rentals. We didn't stay in one of the cabins but we'll look into that in the future. I believe they require a 2-night minimum. This place is absolutely beautiful and we recommend a visit for some great opps!

Yelp
Blackwater Falls is truly a wonder of the mountains, this high elevation river on the Allegheny Plateau is an outdoors enthusiasts paradise. I've been coming here since I was a little kid camping with my family, still love to come here as an adult with my family.
google avatar

Yelp
One of our stops while in the WV mountain region. It is Mid July. Weather is perfect. Highly recommend a stop if you are in the area. We went to the Lodge first and got some advice from a park ranger. The Lodge has a rustic restaurant and there are nice views off the back side. Headed first to Lindy's Point which was about a five minute drive from the lodge then a 15 minute hike on a marked trail. Spectacular vistas. Then proceeded to the Blackwater Falls. Really nice views. Healthy walk from the parking area. The entire Park is very nice. From the Ranger, to the facilities, to the natural beauty a worthwhile visit. Nancy & Mark

Yelp
Absolutely beautiful in the winter. Steps were very slippery but there is a sign warning you that they aren't cleaned off.
google avatar

Brad G.

Yelp
Absolutely beautiful park with gorgeous waterfalls and wonderful hiking trails and some amazing views! I'm a big fan of waterfalls in general and the ones here did not disappoint! Blackwater Falls and Elakala Falls are both super easy to get to which makes for a ton of visitors during the day but really doesn't infringe on my photography since I shoot either early or late when the light is best and few people are out. Just a bonus tip, not far away from the park is Canaan Valley BBQ...they have literally the best BBQ I've ever had and I've been to a lot of BBQ joints. The food is next level! Anyhow this park is truly a gem and gives photographers like me a lot of great photo opportunities!
google avatar

Tannar W.

Yelp
This park is beautiful, I stayed in the campground, and then checked out the waterfall and some of the trails the next morning, and it was so peaceful and beautiful. The camp site was really nice, clean, and quiet. There were other campers there but no one was rowdy, and it was nice to just enjoy nature by the fire. The workers are super sweet and helpful, definitely stop by the gift store they have near the waterfall! When I went the restaurant was closed due to construction, but they have a gift store there too. Of course, the nature speaks for itself, everything was so gorgeous. It had just rained too, so it was so green.
google avatar

Meghan B.

Yelp
Although the weekend we visited Blackwater Falls was cold and rainy, we had a great time. We checked out the overlook of the falls, which was really great and allowed us to have a perfect view of the gorgeous falls. Perfect spot for pics. I hope to visit again with better weather next time!
google avatar

Fred A.

Yelp
We rented a cabin for our anniversary and absolutely loved every minute and inch of it. We hiked all over and visited the town of Davis for coffee and such. The park was very sparsely populated and it was very rare to meet people on the trails.
google avatar

Chris R.

Yelp
Worth the trip. Steps to different viewing decks. Great views. Whole family enjoyed it, would definitely stop by if in the area again

Cindy S.

Yelp
I always try to visit Blackwater Falls every few years! I can't do the stairs anymore, so LOVE the overlook just down from the lodge and around the corner from the gift store. It's a lovely short walk from the parking area. Sadly the Falls were not running full steam, but still so magical and gorgeous... Highly recommend you stop by, stay for the night, and enjoy the forest!

Yelp
Awesome place - a MUST SEE! We ventured out here on a recommendation from a co-worker as it's only about an hour from Deep Creek, where we are staying for the week. This is a very large and well-maintained Park with lots of overlooks and small trails for hiking or just taking a gentle stroll in nature. We obviously came for the famous Blackwater Falls, and we were amazed at its beauty. The trek down to the falls is not a hike, but rather a short walk down about 200 wooden steps. Yes, there are overlooks along the way with views of the Falls, but if your body can handle it, it's worth going all the way to the bottom of the steps to the overlook just next to the Falls. You can feel the mist on your face and it's wonderful for taking up-close pictures without much in the way. The walk back up is quite exhausting and hard on your knees as you go back up the wooden staircase/boardwalk. However, it is very safe even when slick from the mist; it is taken care of which I appreciate. If you're not up for a lot of walking, make a left towards the 'petting zoo' at the 4-way stop before the Falls. There's a handicap overlook with a small parking lot of about 15-20 spaces. A short walk down a paved path takes you right to a wooden ramp overlooking the Falls. It is quite a distance away but the Falls are honestly just as beautiful. I think it's awesome that they have this alternative location for those with limitations or strollers with kiddos. I was happy we went because it was still a nice backdrop for pictures. If you have time, there's a gift shop located right in the center of the parking lot. They have your typical magnets, keychains, T-shirt's, and souvenir pens, as well as wooden walking sticks and umbrellas. They also have a lot of collectible rocks/minerals and some cute home decor, mostly bear & cabin related. For the campers, they supply some fire supplies and other odds and ends. Attached to the gift shop is a snack bar with quite a large menu to choose from- pizza, hotdogs, sandwiches, nachos, chips, soda, bottled water, among others. Everything appeared to be reasonably priced, though I did not purchase anything myself so I can't say if it was good or just convenient. I would DEFINITELY recommend visiting this area for getting back in touch with nature and appreciating the beauty of the outdoors!
google avatar

Nick R.

Yelp
Perfect little hiking outing ... roads and trails covered in snow. 15-20 people encountered all morning. I love beautiful snow covered mornings like we had this morning.
google avatar

Angie S.

Yelp
I used to come here yearly as a kid. Found myself back in WV visiting family and decided to make the 2 hour trip to check it out again. It's still as amazing as I remembered. The trek down to the falls is kinda long but there are plenty of places to stop and rest along the way. They have several additional viewing areas before you get all the way to the bottom. I was there during the rainy months so the falls were great. Saw several deer as I was driving to another overlook. The little trading post in the parking lot is full of cute things. I picked up a couple tee shirts for the kids. The cabins looked really cute too. I'd love to come back, stay a few nights and do some hiking.

Yelp
I have found Yelp to be geared toward food and restaurants; maybe a hotel. As this is a state-run nature park, there are no food reviews or customer service here at Blackwater Falls State park, especially during COVID times. What I can say is that this park is large and amazing. Two of us decided to take advantage of a snow day and visit the park. The first day, all we got to see before the sun set was a scenic overview. That was impressive and we planned to return the next day. And we did! The second day, we got to see two of the three waterfalls, and tromp through snow covered fields. Parking and driving was easy (pay attention when driving on snowy and icy roads, folks!) and hardly anyone else was there. The air is fresh and clear and the views are incredible. There is a lodge and a bunch of cabins, but due to COVID, these were closed. The one thing that confused us were the maps. We downloaded the PDF map of the park (showing waterfalls, points of interest and so on) and found them a bit hard to follow since some trails are not clearly marked on either the map or in real life. We had to check cell phone maps, the PDF maps and make a guess. More than once we were incorrect, but that was part of the fun. We visited on a snowy winter's day. And although we live a few hours' drive from the park, I can hardly wait to return again and again, to see the park in all of it's glory in each season! Highly recommended!

Yelp
We've been going to Blackwater Falls for President's Day weekend the past several years. It's become a beloved family tradition for us. We go primarily for the sledding but have also enjoyed the cross country skiing and snowshoeing. We love staying in the lodge because it is cozy and convenient. We've often been practically snowed in and having the restaurant there is handy. The common room is nicely furnished with a fireplace and TV. The lodge has WiFi as well. They also have a full shelf of puzzles though we always bring our own games. It's an experience preserved in amber. There is also an arcade and a ping pong table. The staff are friendly and helpful. There is a nice gift shop. The Alpine Ski Center (near the sled run) is walkable even in bad weather. The original cabins are also a reasonable hike from the lodge. We just stayed in the cabins for the first time and they were great. Well kitted out kitchen and linens wise. I found the bed comfortable though I might bring an extra pillow. No tv or WiFi but plenty of deer. Only downside I've ever encountered was the pool was FREEZING the one time I tried it two years ago. Might be a fluke. A nice HOT tub or pool would be appreciated after a day in a the snow

Yelena A.

Yelp
This is a cute but very crowded park; there is a way to walk up to waterfall view without steps on a side of the parking lot; however, you will have to take somewhat wet steps down to the very waterfall for a closer look

Yelp
Amazing place to stay, The Backwater state park is clean beautiful and the employees are awesome. Parks Superintendent and assistant Mr Baker and Risinger are top notch! Great place to get away and take your family.

Yelp
Blackwater Falls State Park, in West Virginia, is a delightful place - a true gem. It's nature slightly, VERY slightly tamed - just enough that it's very family friendly. But not too tame - that if you're wild and adventurous you can have some thrills of a lifetime in the wilderness areas of the park. You can also get very hurt, if you don't exercise good judgment. Again, it is a spectacular place, and there are areas that will delight people of All ages. The scenery is magnificent. The air is oh so clean. There is a nature center that has forest rangers (wearing Smokey the Bear hats). The kids have to love that! And they have activities about history and nature. There is a display of critters. During my stay, I did not see any bears, but plenty of deer, chipmunks, and other critters and birds of all kinds. The lodge was closed for remodeling, but I expect it will be open again in spring of 2022. If you call ahead, you can reserve a cabin until then. The prices are reasonable, and are very nice. I figure the big cabins will sleep a dozen people, or more, comfortably. All of them have kitchens fridges, pots, pans, plates, etc. The big ones have dishwashers. Great place. Great scenery. Great experiences.

Yelp
Nice Place to stop on the way to the Blackwater Falls main viewing area This is located in the Blackwater falls state park. There are many places to go inside the park and several things to do. The park has camping, falls viewpoints, hiking and this general store which also serves at the trailhead for the best views of the blackwater falls in my opinion. To get to this location, follow WV 29 (Blackwater Falls Road) and drive to the first intersection and turn to the right. Eventually the road will curve around and you should find this place on your right hand side. There is a fair amount of parking but it is angled in two sections between the store and the falls viewpoint. The store is not that large but has a good amount of merchandise. The staff were friendly and helpful. There are bathrooms outside to the left and a few chairs on the right as you enter the store from one side. Overall this is a good place to stop if you are in the park and want some souvenirs or just was a break from hiking. I recommend this place as a good stopping point for fellow travelers.

Yelp
Grew up in the area so I have been here and to the nearby caverns quite a bit. It's a nice waterfall and I think it is an easy walk however I was in better shape back then. There may be some stairs so it would probably be a bit harder on my knees now.

Yelp
My absolute favorite park so far in the beautiful mountain state. It's got beautiful falls spread throughout and scenic overlooks. The cabins and lodge are terrific. I had the pleasure of staying in one of the 4 bedroom cabins and what a treat it was. There are 2 gift shops and also a nice snack bar at the main falls. There are many trails, lots of animals and nature. There's a lake with paddle boat rentals and a wildlife center . There is just so much to do and see and just so peaceful, clean and magic. Make sure to check out the Haley's comet time capsule begins the main lodge overlook. When you go, the main falls, elakala, lindy point, and the lake are must sees. The nearby towns have really neat shops and unique food choices as well . Blackwater is Heaven in almost Heaven , West Virginia. Just do it.

Yelp
If you enjoy the outdoors and love to hike then you need to visit Blackwater Falls and the surrounding Canaan Valley Area of WV. This was not our first visit but a quick trip with our daughter. The fall foliage was not in peak last week but it should be close now. The trip to the falls is a short walk from the parking area. It's such a peaceful sight. We then drove to another area and took a trail about a mile long to the Blackwater gorge at Lindey Point. The trail is easy and shouldn't be a issue for most people. The views are spectacular and if you go at the right time you will capture a sunset that will stay etched in memory forever. Can't wait to go back adventuring.
