Blackwood River Houseboats

Thoroughly enjoyed our honeymoon on the boat storm, everything we needed was available for us all we had to do was bring our own food, drinks, clothes and fishing gear. Was definitely the relaxing time we had hoped. While we weren’t fishing we made use of the kayaks provided. Will definitely be booking again soon to enjoy with our kids!!

What a wonderful experience. We felt we were the only ones on the River. We all felt really comfortable on Houseboat River. We had the pleasure of seeing a couple of dolphins feeding. It did not even feel like we were on the river it was so calm. The sunsets were amazing. House Boat River definitely needs a make over though. We will be back.

What an amazing 3 nights in January on the Blackwood River. Perfect weather, spectacular scenery and the best company! What a treat. Our boat River was just right, she is the perfect size for a young family of four and so easy to operate. We will return next year to catch another 40cm bumping bream! Thank you James and Pam.

We enquired about booking a cruise and received an e-mail shortly after essentially asking us to pay the full amount within a day so as to not lose the dates. T&Cs were provided to us only after payment was received. Website does a very good job hiding T&Cs as well. Unfortunately we had to cancel last minute and whilst a rebook was offered to us within a year, we are unable to take up the offer. Texts and emails requesting refunds were ignored. I had to contact Consumer Protection to receive any semblance of a refund even though Pam said she would transfer the whole amount during a phone call, just before hanging up in a rude manner. Begrudgingly I agreed to what they offered, chalking the loss up to an expensive lesson. Even receiving their promised refund took an extended time, citing personal reasons (which the company didn't seem to care about when we had to cancel). Predatory business practices hidden under the facade of an eco friendly holiday experience. Based on a few other reviewers, business is up for sale and looks like the current owners are squeezing the maximum out with no care for goodwill towards the customer. Do your best to avoid.

Went all excited and was very disappointed. We got the older boat which wasn’t a problem but the dilapidated condition was. During the induction we were shown around and ‘oh this is broken but it’s going to be fixed’ said a bit more than it should have been. What was most disgusting was the poop still on the toilet seat, so I set about cleaning EVERYTHING before it was used. We really wanted to go for a swim but there was no safe way to get back on the boat, was hugely disappointing. The broken ladder, the broken cover for the generator, broken chair, the filthy floor on the top deck, not to forget the two pillows that I’m sure were made with concrete . While being on the river was wonderful it’s not a company we would use again or recommend.

Spectacular experience with family. Annual get together. So nice to be on the beautiful blackwood river. Pam and James are more than hospitable — induction to boat was smooth. Can’t wait til next adventure

James was a great host to get us on our way smoothly. Boat was spacious (for our party of 5) and clean with great extras like the kayaks and stand up paddleboards. And the river and moorings are just gorgeous.

Great experience which was sadly put to shame by owners who were very open about no longer caring for their boats as business is for sale. Our boat came with an empty gas bottle, which we were charged for. Then owner took money out of our account after being told not to without producing an invoice and has yet to justify final charge. Left a very bitter taste in our mouth over entire experience.
