A splendid experience. It was the first time for me and the tour was really informative and very well explained. The tour guide was really nice and so friendly. We had a great chat with her afterwards. Don't forget to visit their shop after the tour. You won't find any of their products outside their venue which is an added value for them indeed. Highly recommended.

On our way back to Edinburgh we stopped at Blair Athol Distillery. Perfect way to enjoy a very well done and friendly tour of the distillery with a super cool, friendly and knowledgeable guide. She made all of us welcome. The Whisky is unique, very tasty and brought lots of joy when we shared some with our family after. Cheers!

Visited with my wife whilst celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary. The tour guide was excellent, very knowledgeable and friendly. I've passed this building many times over many years so it was great yo finally do the tour. If in Pitlochry visiting I'd highly recommend it, but be mindful as it is popular and sells out. Plus you get to sample 3 whisky's, what's not to love.

Had planned to propose the night before so called to arrange a little something nice for my now fiancee, they were exceptionally lovely and helped me pick the perfect tour, they also somehow arranged a beautiful sunny day when it appears the rest of scotland was pouring down! Jane took us on the tour and she was also greatly knowledgeable, and also assured my new wife to be that the whisky cabinet at home was indeed too small and an upgrade was needed (exactly what I'd been saying). Beyond the lovely venue and lovely staff the tasting room was also beautiful and the whisky in the glasses even more so, All in the visit was more than I could have imagined, I'd hugely recommend everyone pop down some time, even if just for a drink at the bar, the very photo worthy bar!

An amazing tour! I've been on plenty of bourbon and beer tours, and this is one of my favorites. You even get to bottle your own, if wanted, as an option.

Managed to snag the last few tickets for a tour on a time slot which worked for us on the drive up to Inverness. Great distillery tour at a fair very price - which gave us a look at the machinery in use, the barrels sleeping away, a flight of tasting whisky, and a branded glencairn to keep as a souvenir. They even have a half price tour with juice for the little ones

We did the Blair Athol Allt Dour Tour and it was a great experience! We lucked out and were the only two on the tour. Cameron was a wonderful tour guide and we learned so much. The tasting at the end was very informative and I was able to take the tastings home since I was driving. We are very happy we chose this tour!

Even though I've been drinking whisky for many years, I learned quite a few things I didn't know before. The distillery is clean well maintained and well organised. All the staff were friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable. The pride in their business and their product shone through. The tour was interesting, the tasting session great and Mark really knew his stuff. The whisky itself was first class and of course I had to buy one of their better bottles, just for research you understand!

Yelp
Okay, folks, here comes an incredibly honest review. I've been to a number of distilleries in Scotland and Ireland, so I like to think I have a decent grasp on what an exceptional distillery is like. Believe me when I tell you, this is one of them. First, let me begin with the location. Blair Athol is tucked away in a small town near Pitlochry. It's a very cute, quaint little town. The people are kind and warm. Can't beat that. When you pull up to the distillery, you're greeted with a remarkably whimsical view of the distillery. The ivy that's grown on the buildings is honestly one of the cutest things you'll ever see. I scheduled a tour of the distillery, and it was phenomenal. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and also pretty darn funny. The man had jokes for days. He took us through the whole process of distilling whisky (not "whiskey," mind you, since that's the Irish spelling of the word ). Loved it. Now as for the scotch itself - it's very hard to beat. Easily one of the best ones I've ever tried. It's smooth, aromatic, and beyond flavorful. I should have bought much more than a couple bottles. I can't tell you how much I enjoyed Blair Athol distillery. You really really really need to come here!

Yelp
Blair Athol Distillery is located in a quiet area just outside central Pitlochry. Our tour group offered an option to visit while in town, so we figured why not? Prior reviews on Yelp aren't accurate as prices are much higher now and they didn't seem to offer whiskey glasses with tastings anymore. It started at 5 GBP for a single sampling of their whiskey, while flights started at about 20 GBP, so not exactly cheap. Still, the grounds were welcoming and the 12-year old Blair Athol whiskey sampled was decent. It's no Johnnie Walker, but still a fine Scottish whiskey. While whiskey tastings aren't something I'm really into, many in our tour group that went seemed to love the experience.

Yelp
We only had a day to head up to the highlands and my husband was dying to try some scotch so we started our highlands adventure at Blair Athol! It was so great! They were extremely friendly, informative, and had an incredible variety of whiskeys. You can order a flight at the bar to taste multiple different blends or if you're not into it (like me, i'm a wimp with strong liquor), they will make you a perfectly balanced cocktail! The grounds themselves are absolutely gorgeous. I would highly recommend Blair Athol to anyone looking to try some tasty Scottish whiskeys!

Yelp
With a son living in Kentucky (the heart of Bourbon country), I've been on a number of distillery tours - all of which were producing bourbon. So, I was really interested in touring a distillery that was distilling Scotch. The Blair Athol Distillery is not a large facility but gave us a very good and pretty in-depth overview of the process for making Scotch whiskey. While I've heard the term "single malt" Scotch, I really wasn't consciously aware that most Scotch whiskeys are blended products. Unlike the rules for Bourbon, Scotch from different batches and/or different distilleries can be blended before bottling. The rules governing Bourbon distilleries in Kentucky are much stricter. For example, unlike Scotch which can be aged in a variety of barrels, Bourbon can only be aged in new oak barrels that have been charred on the inside. The tour was very informative and it was especially interesting to see and contrast the differences between distilling Scotch and Bourbon.

Yelp
Whst a cool little Scotch whisky distillery in the Highlands area. I bought a bottle to take home as well as a dram glass. Good Scotch whisky and good prices in an idyllic setting.

Yelp
My husband and I are visiting Scotland for a 10 days trip vacation with a 26 people group on a Scotland and Ireland CTE Vacation company. In one of our excursions we stop at at Blair Athol Scotch Distillery on one of the small town call Pitlochry in Scotland. We had a such a fun time scotch tasting. Not a big fan of scotch, but this type distillery had the best smooth scotch you will ever have. You can't buy this type of scotch in any stores only sold at this distillery, If you find yourself visiting Scotland make sure to stop by for a little scotch taste, you won't regret it so many fun memories.

Yelp
The tasting room is very pleasant and the bar is well designed. The bartenders were fairly knowledgeable about the whiskies stocked, which were numerous. This distillery is part of the Diageo family and you can sample many of the Diageo-owned products there which is both nice and diminishes the singularity of the experience. It's a pretty enough place in a pretty enough little down, but there was nothing exceptional, in my opinion, that would make this a must-do if you're in the area.

Yelp
This is my second whisky distillery tour this month and I have not been disappointed. The distillery is located near Blair Atholl and Pitlochry and is easily accessible from the town centre. It is true that about 70% of their produced Blair Atholl Single Malt Whisky is sold on to Johnnie Walker and the like, but the rest is kept by the distillery for their distribution of the 12 yr old single malt. They market their flavor as fruity, sweet and nutty. Some % are used for Arthur Bells own Brand called Bell's, which is also a blended Scotch Whisky. Tour members pay £6 per person. The entrance and reception room is very large with lots of seating possibilities. You can also walk around an introduction area that informs you of the early history of the distillery up to now. The tour guides are very knowledgeable and explained the necessary elements in just half an hour. We were shown the Mash Tunks, Fermentation and Still rooms and filling station, as well as part of their warehouse. Sadly, the barrels were displayed behind glass and you were not able to smell the evaporating Angel's share. Behind the glass we could see the barrels stored and some of them dating back to 1969, which will cost you about £700. Included in the price is a drum of 12yr old Blair Atholl Whisky that you can taste after the tour has finished. At the end of the tour you are able to buy some bottles of whiskey from their gift shop. They also sell Talisker, Caol Ila, Bells and other whisky's. The premises appear very clean and offer the perfect showcase for visitors to the area. Good thing is that it only takes 1.5 hrs from Edinburgh to get there by car.

Yelp
Such a cool distillery! The 4th oldest in Scotland and lies on a beautiful piece of property. The tasting at the end was fantastic (we did the 3-tasting option). If you are lucky enough to get Jamie, thank your lucky stars. He's knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and downright hilarious. He answered every question we threw at him and gave us a wonderful look into the distillation process from start to finish. A must-see if you are in the area.

Yelp
I really enjoyed this tour! It was a great value (£11 for tour, dram and souvenir whisky glass). The staff was sweet and the bar / gift shop were nice. Would recommend to anyone visiting the area.

Yelp
Best. Tour. Ever. Pay £5, get a £3 voucher off a bottle of whisky and a proper tasting at the end. The tour guide was amazing and the tour was small, allowing for plenty of personal attention. The guide took his time and made sure everyone understood the process. He provided a lot of information and made all of it accessible. He was excellent! The distillery itself is right outside of town, making for a pleasant walk. There is no restaurant, which was slightly disappointing, but the gift shop is cute and the grounds are nice, too.

Yelp
Had a really lovely visit. Greg really made our trip special and deepened our appreciation for whiskey. Enjoyed the tasting very much.

Yelp
Great tour with a proper tasting at the end. The tour guide was fun and engaging. A fine selection is single malts and blends, but most of it is stuff you can acquire at the airport duty free, or other establishments. They do have a few that can only be acquired at the distillery, so for collectors, this is a good option.

Yelp
This is a wonderful distillery on the main road through Pitlochry. Having visited the famous salmon ladder, where you can (at the right time of year) see salmon jumping up the ladder, you can make your way south of the main town to Blair Atholl. I don't know if it's still true, but when we visited last, Blair Atholl was made purely to put into Bells blended scotch. The tour of the distillery covers all the usual things, then explains that this is one of the very few places one can sample single malt Blair Atholl. When I chatted to the tour guide later, I found that the hospitality room bar had samples of all the malts that go into Bells - can't remember offhand if it's 14 or 15. He then proceeded to make me try most of them! Goodbye braincells, I must leave you! Luckily, we were travelling by train and staying in Perth, not far away. If you continue along the road, there are signs for Edradour distillery - see another review! Oh, the tour is excellent, the whisky is, if anything, too nice to go into a blend and the tour guide is a marvellous man!
