The 14 Best Things to Do in Bristol in 2025

"Constructed in 1798 as a Gothic Revival sham 'castle' built for amusement, Blaise Castle offers sweeping views across its 650-acre estate and includes a nearby historic home converted into a museum where I learned more about its quirky history." - Matthew Kepnes

This is a lovely place and it’s well maintained. There’s some lovely walks around here, and you can walk through the woods and by the stream. There's a big playground, museum and a cafe too. The toilets are clean too. The castle is great. It’s only open certain days of the month. There’s love nice views from the top. It’s very peaceful. This is a great place to come if you love nature. You have to pay for parking.

Tried to visit blaise castle last week as its a usual spot for us to go on a lovely family day out and its always been a great place for a nice long walk with a bit of history at the museum. However when we arrived we found the grass area by the house was filled with caravans as it seems travellers have been set up there for a while. There was a car driving around on the grass area where your supposed to be able to sit and picnic so you couldn't really walk as it would have been dangerous. I was pleasantly surprised to find out when we tried going back this week that they had been moved on , well done to the volunteers at Blasie who made sure all areas of the estate were cleaned and back to normal. Had a lovely walk around and visited the Hamlet. The community garden was open as well which had a lovely little group playing live music on the walk around.

My favourite place to visit as a child, now as an adult and the owner of dogs, I adore returning to Bristol to walk here. Great facilities, clean toilets, plenty of parking and super friendly people walking their dogs. Wish I lived closer!

First time back since I was a kid in the 90's. Brought my 2 plus puppy back during the summer holidays, there were quite a few parking places, I have had issues when trying to visit in the past with no parking being available. Great open space, fantastic woodland and stream walk. Kids had a great time in the huge play park despite it being quite busy. Cafe food was ok, and expected, good choice and quick service and priced similarly to other busy sites. Will be back agin in the future, didn't make the museum as had puppy with us.

Blaise Castle is a hidden gem in Bristol. The stunning landscape and picturesque surroundings make it a perfect spot for a leisurely walk or a family picnic. The castle itself is charming and steeped in history, offering a fascinating glimpse into the past. The grounds are well-maintained, and there are plenty of trails to explore, making it a great place for both kids and adults. The views from the castle are breathtaking, especially on a clear day. I also loved the nearby café, which has a lovely selection of snacks and drinks. The atmosphere is relaxed, and it's a great place to unwind after exploring the area. Overall, I highly recommend visiting Blaise Castle if you're in Bristol. It's a wonderful blend of nature, history, and tranquility!

Yelp
Such a nice estate. I went here for dog walk, but would also be great for kids day out, picnics, or just a nice walk. There loads of areas to roam, lots of fields, woodlands tracks and kids play areas. We took the dogs a walk through the fields, then through the woods up to the castle and back down to the house. The house is a really lovely venue aswell for a wedding. I attended a wedding ceronmy in the house a few years ago which was beautiful. They have Carpark onsite and coffee/snack shop selling hot & cold food. We also had a ice lolly from the ice cream van aswell before we left :) Me and dogs will be back again very soon!

Yelp
Lovely big park for walks, dog walks and picnics. Good sized playground for kids. Plus the Manor House is a museum where you can learn about the history of the estate.

Yelp
A great place to go walking with the children and the dogs. The car park can get a bit full on a weekend, so aim to get there early or park on the main road. There is a nice easy path up to the castle or you can take the long path if you're feeling energetic. It does get really muddy so wear wellies or solid walking boots or you'll be mud skiing before you know it or losing shoes in the mire. Views from the top over looking the gorge are spectacular and one day we'll work up the stamina to spend a whole day walking up the gorge and around the woods. Plenty of seating and cubby areas around Blaise, so you'll bump into a lot of necking couples lol. On the way out they have a water wall, so be warned as children have a tendency to run underneath and get soaked which then makes for a whinging ride home. Bring towels and spare clothes.

Yelp
Great place to take kids/dogs for a walk. Large country estate with lovely green spaces and woodland. Far enough out of Bristol that it stays relatively quiet most of the time. Car parking and kids play area. Museum and parkland.

Yelp
We recently moved from the Blaise area of Bristol and boy do we miss the Estate. It's almost worth moving to Bristol for this place - an amazing country park in the middle of a city. It has a beautfiul arboretum, miles of pathways, a Gorge with spectacular cliffs, a Castle (small) and a fantastic kids playground. The Cafe is rubbish, but just take a flask and get yourselves down into the Gorge! If you have small kids, try going to the tunnel round the back of the Giants Soap dish (great mucky fun!)

Yelp
Have been practically brought up in this park. Always used to like visiting the free museum but not sure if this is still running. Great to take the kids, any time of year. Park equipment is good and can walk right through to Coombe Dingle/WOT. Some of the tales about the estate are fascinating - Lovers Leap, Witches Cave etc.

Yelp
It's a bit misleading to call it Blaise Castle, as it's not really a castle (it's a false castle!), but it's interesting inside the museum. It's a really nice place to go for a picnic of walk at the weekend, or any other time for that matter. Shame about the vandalism though.

Yelp
This is another real beauty spot within the city and an ideal place to take the family for a day out. There is a park for the kids to play and so much space for them to run around and burn up all their energy. This is a great place for walks within such beautiful surroundings. Its really peaceful and the castle is outstandingok, so its only small but its pretty impressive.

Yelp
I've been doing Blaise castle for many years. Firstly as a kid playing around in the woods or on the park. With my school doing cross country runs and visiting the the very interesting large free museum. Now taking the kids to play or my mountain bike for a realy good bit of off roading.

Yelp
Blaise Castle has a large grassed area for ball games and/or picnics. Dogs are allowed to. they have two nice sized parks with numerous things to do in there. there is a museum to visit and a large wood with a mill and a castle to see.

Yelp
The castle and parkland are open and free to the public. You can view the gorge cut through limestone and it provides a beautiful landscape, where you can often see rock climbers. There are lovely walks and beautiful views, this is a nice day out for the family as well as those looking for a picturesque walk. The castle is well worth checking out and it's stunning under a start filled sky.

Yelp
This place has changed loads over 20 years that I've been going - the kids playground has expanded massively, slightly over safetfy conscious if you ask me, but generally good with lots of equipment for a wide range of ages. Great grounds too through the woods, and also loads and loads of space for pinicing and ball games.

Yelp
If you like off road running this a brillian place to go, make sure you go during day light hours as the poor lighting means you can come unstuck at night. Try running up the heart breaking hill, aptly named for its steepness, good for dog walking too
