Did a night trail up to Blaise Castle with my friends and honestly it was way creepier than I expected ngl. Walking through the woods in near total darkness had that eerie vibe where every sound makes you turn your head. You really can’t see much at all and your imagination starts working overtime, which weirdly made it even more fun.
Once you get closer though, the castle itself looks absolutely majestic at night. It genuinely looks amazing, especially when the moonlight hits it. There’s something about seeing it in the dark that makes it feel way more dramatic than during the day. Fairytale energy mixed with horror film vibes.
The views are unreal too. As you can probably tell from my Google pics, it’s incredibly peaceful up there. It’s quiet, calm and feels like you’re miles away from the city even though you’re not. What’s funny is the photos look like they were taken during the day, but I promise it was pitch black in real life. I could barely see where I was stepping at points and yeah it was definitely a little creepy, but in a good way. The kind of creepy that makes the experience memorable.
A bit of history as well because that just adds to the atmosphere. Blaise Castle was built in the late 1700s as a folly, basically a decorative building rather than a real defensive castle. It was designed to look like a medieval fortress and was inspired by romantic ideas of ruins and ancient history. Even though it’s not a real castle in the traditional sense, standing there at night you’d never guess that. It really feels like it has stories to tell.
Overall I’d 100 percent do this again. Creepy, peaceful, beautiful and a bit magical all at the same time. If you like night walks, then this is definitely worth it.
