We went for one of their monthly brew classes. The incredible smell of fresh coffee greeted us at the door!! The facility is accessible for everyone and there was a nice sized group of folks in attendance. The employees there are super friendly and knowledgeable! They explained the pour-over method of brewing coffee in great detail and each employed a slightly different method. They answered all of our questions... even the ones unrelated to the method they were teaching. They had all of their coffees and brewing equipment on sale so you could try what you learned at home. We love their coffee and bought a bag of their whole bean "Handshake". We are definitely going back for their next class!!!

This is the freshest coffee you can buy in Richmond. I always buy beans online and the grind for a pour over. You can tell how incredibly fresh the coffee is by the CO2 foam released. Also the concept of sourcing the beans is the way business should be conducted.

Simple atmosphere. I got a mocha latte, and my friend bought a thermal mug and a coffee. The latte was amazing. I’ve been craving another one since I finished it. They also serve it with a side of sparking water.... which was also somehow very good. My friend’s coffee was good. They even cleaned her thermal for her and placed the coffee in it. She is a slow drinker, but we got the coffee at 2 on and her coffee was still warm (with help if the thermal) at 9 pm. I do wish they opened earlier so people going to work could grab some coffee..

I happened to visit just before a cupping today and was thoroughly impressed. John did a fantastic job explaining and bringing everyone through the cupping process. While purchasing coffee, Jake took the time to answer all of my questions. The coffee? I've run a coffee business and roasterie for 7 years now and from my experience, their Ethiopian Chelchele is some of the best coffee I have ever had. Between their very competent and courteous staff, quality and craftsmanship, this is not a place to be missed.

The BEST coffee I've ever had and the customer service is impeccable. I order their "RVA Exclusive Blend" by the case of 10. Last week, USPS didn't deliver my order...it's so good, I'm sure the postal workers are enjoying my RVA Blend. When I called Blanchards, Stephen Robertson ensured I got my replacement asap. What great service. Too bad I couldn't give a 6/5 star review.

Thank you. Thank you. No, really. I REALLY needed a good cup of coffee. Since moving to Richmond in September, we have been on a serious mission to find coffee that was at least drinkable, a step above brown bitter RVA water, something - anything that would come close to the amazing coffee shop we left behind. I picked up a bag of whole bean Dark As Dark, which promised to be nothing short of a donkey kick - you must be fully committed to caffeine in order to ingest this and survive. Well, that's me in a nutshell. Anything short of a nuclear attack of coffee in the morning and I'm liable to....well....let's just say I am micro-managed by a strong-willed three year old all day. That said, I need it. NOW. And you know what? This coffee is good! Definitely the best coffee I have had in Richmond so far and the price is more than reasonable. I am excited to try their other roasts. Basically - if you're in Richmond and you need/like/love/can't live without coffee, Blanchard's is your best bet.

Purchased the Ethiopian Bera, was excited to drink it and I am sorry to say, Folgers instant coffee tastes better than this coffee. I found it to be tasteless and bland. Not the best $21.00 I have spent.

This place is awesome! The staff is super helpful, knowledgeable and sweet. Took my boyfriend here since he's a Richmond local and he never heard of it. I heard their cold brew was phenomenal so I had to try it. You can buy it by the 6 pack at the distributor or single at the local coffee shops that serve their coffee such as Chair Lift in Richmond. Their cold brew was mild and delicious and doesn't leave you wired like other places! Just very good flavor. Every Friday at 10:30am they do public cupping sessions, which I recommend! Definitely check them out!

Coffee that is pure quality across the board. I've been drinking Blanchard's every morning for the past year and counting. I attended a free educational lab on a Tuesday evening at Blanchard's on automatic drip coffee pots, spearheaded by John, David & Co.. We were taught all kinds of techniques and specifics to get the most out of your coffee beans with drip pots and tons more. Let's just say I was promoted to a new level of coffee nerd when I executed those learned techniques at home the next morning...WOW! The most flavorful and full bodied cups I've made to date. My mr.coffee may have an extended life yet. Thanks for all the great insight. You are all very passionate and knowledgeable about the business. Keep on grind'n y'all! P.s. - That's our current rig that I'm looking at completely different now. Second photo is me agitating carefully the grounds to completely saturate from the beginning of the brew for maximized water to coffee contact. I even measured the output temperature of the water with a meat thermometer and it maxed out at 197°, not bad!

Blanchard's is my Instagram study goals dreams. I liked the atmosphere where it was a mix of people catching up and people getting through their workload - aka you can study without needing to feel like you have to be pin-drop silent but also you won't get too distracted. I got a matcha latte, and it hit the spot. Honestly, I am not much of a coffee drinker so you can take my opinion with a grain of salt; I think the coffee's great. Hope to be back soon!

5 stars for coffee, 2 stars for atmosphere and food options. The coffee is sincerely roasted and brewed with great care. Espresso drinks are made with impeccable detail. The staff are friendly and some of my favorite baristas in RVA. However the space is a space aged cafeteria. Think mid century meets 2020. Only a tiny selection of pastries in a small enclosed glass window. It looks like a science experiment, how long will it take to grow bacteria on these items. There is a chicken salad in a roll that should not have pasted the health code inspection. On the side there is a large convenience store deli case with sodas and yogurt - very 711. I'm so confused by this place. Summation go for coffee and get it to go.

Blanchard's makes excellent coffee! I've been drinking their RVA Blend for years and absolutely love it! I moved from Virginia to Maryland a few years ago but continue to order it online. I recently placed an order for seven bags of the RVA Blend but was sent seven bags of the wrong kind of coffee instead. When I contacted them, they shipped me seven bags of the correct coffee right away and told me to keep the others as well. Excellent coffee and excellent customer service? You have a customer for life right here.

LOVE this roasting warehouse! Blanchard's has quickly become my favorite brand of coffee since moving to RVA last summer. The variety in flavors and beans is really exceptional and such good quality. Normally, I pick up a bag at either Stella's grocery or Whole Foods (although its about $2 more expensive at the latter so I'll only get it there if I'm in a pinch) - but coming to the roasting warehouse just can't be beat. If nothing else, the aroma alone of all the beans roasting is worth coming to this location for. They usually have some brewing on site that you can help yourself to for free. Really nice! Since this is the main "hub" for Blanchard's, they have far more varieties than some of the vendors that sell this brand around town. I've tried the holiday flavor and the Dark as Dark. The Dark as Dark is my favorite, so rich in flavor and has a very smoky and smooth taste. I love that other local businesses around town sell Blanchard's either by the cup or by the bag. Stella's grocery actually grinds their espresso beans which is heavenly in a latte. All in all, just really love this brand. Their insta is filled with fun content about how to brew their coffee, events, and special releases. Can't wait to try more varieties! If you're a coffee lover, this place is for you!
