Hotel & Spa Blausee, a Design Boutique Hotel Kandergrund, Switzerland

"Located right at the bank of the well-known Blausee lake with its crystal-clear blue water, this hotel features a gourmet restaurant offering trout and other delicious treats. A spa area including an outdoor hot tub is there as well. The elegantly furnished rooms of the Hotel & Spa Blausee offer views of the Bernese Alps and some have lake views. Each comes with a private bathroom. With its 13 Gault Millau points, the fine-dining restaurant serves regional fish, meat and vegetarian dishes and selected wines. A 4-course dinner is available on request. There is also the Blausee Cafe in which we serve bagels, homemade cakes and specialty coffees. Both have a terrace open in summer. Evenings can be spent in front of the fireplace in the cozy lounge or at the bar. Spa facilities are available for free and include a sauna, a sanarium, a steam grotto and a hot tub. Children can have fun on the adventure playground, you can enjoy rides on the lake with a boat featuring a glass bottom and visit the on-site trout farm. The Blausee hotel is located 2953 feet above sea level, a 10-minute drive or bus ride from Frutigen and Kandersteg. Free private parking is possible 656 feet away." - My Boutique Hotel (en)

"Who needs a television amid 50 acres of natural parkland? The charming, individual rooms range from modern to stylishly historical and there is an excellent sauna and bathhouse but the real star is two old bathtubs – a "hotpot" and a whirlpool – set outside in the grounds with a fine mountain view. Open-air cinema on the lake in summer." - Tablet Hotels

A lovely place. The setting is idyllic, the staff is absolutely lovely, the food is tasty. The only downfall is, it could be a bit more quiet. In the morning, we could hear the music in the dining from our room, but the staff were very nice and dimmed the volume. The scenery is like a postcard, an we thought it was a natural reserve and we could have a calm time, but the lake is crowded with tourists. The spa is great though, and it makes it up for it.

Amazing hotel! I stayed for one night. Breakfast was restaurant style and they had a large variety of food to order. The spa is included and was much needed, I got to enjoy the spa even after checking out and I ended up canceling my plans for the day to enjoy the spa and park instead. The lake was absolutely gorgeous with trails all around. The only reason I give the room itself a 4 is because I could see people outside of my bathroom window , but the room itself was good! Overall my only regret is not staying longer!

5 stars! What an amazing experience at the Blausee hotel surrounded by this beautiful nature. Thank you for their little attention with the room, we were not expecting that at all !!! We had a really good time exploring the woods, and enjoying the bbq area! The food at the restaurant was delicious, their trout was fresh and flavourful and the breakfast was delightful as well. Thank you for everything

We had high expectations for this place, but it turned out to be our biggest regret. It was crowded with visitors, there was no privacy, and the smell from the BBQs outside was overwhelming. We had to keep the curtains closed at all times. The rooms are made of wood, so you can hear every noise from the neighbors. To make matters worse, an electrician entered our room without knocking, and other visitors came onto our porch uninvited. The breakfast was very good, but I strongly recommend staying away from the restaurant — I’ve never eaten food so disgusting in my life, not to mention how overpriced it was. Overall, this place is far too expensive for what it offers. In conclusion, I recommend visiting the park, but absolutely do not stay at the hotel.

It's such a mesmerizing lake. The water is really blue and it's blissful. I would highly recommend to do the boat ride . Ofcourse a picnic is a must do.

Came in with high expectations—left seriously disappointed. We paid 350 Swiss francs a night, and for that price, this place completely missed the mark. The hotel is smack in the middle of a public park. Yes, the surroundings are beautiful—but it’s packed with day visitors from morning to night. It’s the worst possible location for a hotel if you're looking for any peace or privacy. Crowds everywhere, constant BBQ smoke in the air, and people strolling right past your porch like it’s a picnic area. We had to keep the curtains closed the entire stay just to feel like we weren’t on display. The cabins are all wood, so you’ll hear every single sound from the neighbors walking. And unbelievably, an electrician entered our room without even knocking. Add to that random people showing up on our porch? No thanks. Credit where it’s due—the staff was warm and helpful, and breakfast was excellent. But the on-site restaurant? Disgusting food at ridiculous prices. Easily one of the worst meals I’ve ever had. Bottom line: Visit the park, it’s stunning. But absolutely do not stay at the hotel. Not worth the money, not worth the headache.

If you are stressed or tired and need relax and meditation for a few days, this is one of the best places to stay. The staff shows great hospitality, the food with its special offers of organic brown trout (forelle) from Blausee is very delicious, in addition to this you have clean and comfortable spa to relax and forget about the stress you had. The hotel is right next to the lake, which is connected with a beautiful romantic story about a maid (the statue of the maid within the lake is very touching). Switzerland has a lot of eden-like corners to discover. Blausee with a beautiful surrounding park is one of them. I definitely recommend to visit this place and to live at hotel Blausee.
