Summer Activities in Aspen

"Charging $110 for the Slaughterhouse Falls trip, Blazing Adventures isn’t the cheapest option. But the benefit of booking with them is that they are a full-service tour provider, extending to land-based tours like bike trips and dinner excursions. There’s nothing quite like showing up to your second tour of a trip already knowing a few people. They also offer customized trips that let you combine activities and get more specific on what you’re looking for, for those wanting both guidance and an against-the-grain experience." - MATADOR_NETWORK

Spencer gave us the most incredible 3 days exploring!!! He’s so knowledgeable and always made sure we were safe, happy, and thrilled… it surpassed our expectations - he made recommendations for hikes that gave us our most memorable days ever. He took such great care including our 9 year old son, and made our adventures picture perfect. We can’t wait to be back!! Spencer, thank you for going out of your way to ensure you could be with us for all of our excursions and going above and beyond during those adventures too!! Most awesome time!!

We rented e-bikes for the day and had an amazing experience! Rode all the way down the scenic Rio Grande Trail to Basalt, with a lunch stop at Woody Creek Tavern. The route was gorgeous, smooth, and peaceful — total of 45 miles round trip and about 4 hours of riding (not counting our lunch break). Bikes were in great condition, the staff was super friendly, and everything was hassle-free. Highly recommend for anyone looking to explore Aspen and beyond on two wheels!

I really enjoyed the Maroon Bells bike ride this week. Jess and Tess were great and made the experience fun and very informative! I would recommend this bike ride for all family members.

The staff & owners at Blazing Adventures are amazing people. From the booking process to executing the trip, not a detail was overlooked. Their level of customer service cannot be duplicated. We did the afternoon rafting trip on the Colorado river and it was SO much fun! As locals we don't get out on the water as often as we should and Tess (our guide) made our day so enjoyable. She was fun, easy going & my kiddos loved being on the boat with her. I am extremely happy we were able to get on the river with them, it was an incredible way to spend a Sunday afternoon with my loved ones. Thanks again Tess, Vince, & Jen and all of Blazing Adventures! We had a blast!!!!

Our Sunset Dinner experience was amazing! The food, the staff, the experience was 10/10! The kids enjoyed the jeep ride up the mountain and even found wild raspberries to snack on! The private chef cooked up a delicious meal and the live music around the campfire was such a great ambient touch throughout the entire evening. Making smores was just the best way to round out the night. The stunning views of the mountains and the valley never get old - We will absolutely be back! Thanks for an unforgettable evening!

We had a wonderful time biking with Diane and Kim from the Maroon Bells to Aspen. We even saw a moose twice! Diane provided great instruction and Kim bought up the rear support with a smile.

I am a wedding coordinator and always refer Blazing Adventures for my couples. From exciting experiences to reliable shuttle services too and from the weddings. I had one wedding at Maroon Bells, with zero service. The couple had 3 shuttles from Blazing Adventures, and all 3 drivers were on radios with me, letting me know when they were arriving with guests. I could not believe how smooth everything went. They are always professional and great to work with!

Google
both guides were super friendly and knowledgeable on the area of the Maroon Bells and they made sure all the bikes were comfortable to each person! The transportation van to the Maroon Bells was also spacious and comfortable and they made it very fun and exciting! 10/10 recommend and would do again! Garrett is a wonderful guide! and apologies for blanking on the other guide but she was wonderful as well and wanna say it started with a D but I could be wrong!

Yelp
Amazing experience!! We booked the white water rafting tour. Our tour guide was highly experienced and led the group very well. We had so much fun and felt very safe with our tour guide. I wish I remembered her name, but she stated that she had worked for Blazing for decades. Her husband was the second drive on the tour and he was also great. Both very knowledgeable and made the experience unforgettable. If you are in Aspen, book a tour with Blazing Adventures!

Yelp
Great day kayaking in the Ducky's. Shout out to our guides, Liz and Taylor, plus Peter, the driver. They had all the equipment and instruction needed for awesome river ride. Flexible to make the experience what we wanted it to be.

Yelp
Huge shoutout to the crew at Blazing Adventures for providing the group I was with; with a jeep tour of the Aspen area, it meant so much to everyone involved. Thank you for the tour!

Yelp
Blazing Adventures took great care of us from start to finish, and we are headed home with some awesome memories! Our family rented e bikes that we picked up from their Aspen location, and we rode to the Maroon Bells. Then we hiked up to Crater Lake. This was the best way to see the spectacular views and breathe that fresh mountain air! Later in the week, we had an amazing half day rafting trip with Blazing Adventures on the Upper Roaring Fork river (class 3). From the beginning, we knew we were in good hands with a well organized and professional company. We received phone and email confirmations with reminders for our upcoming reservations. Any questions were easily addressed and answers could be found on their website. We were picked up promptly in a very comfortable new van (expertly driven by Kate) for our short ride over to our raft launch location. During our ride, our raft guide, Talbott, gave us clear and succinct instructions for how to have a safe rafting experience. Talbott was very professional, knowledgeable, and fun. He provided an excellent experience for everyone in our group, which included our 12 & 15 year old sons. We were outfitted with quality wet suits, booties (river water is COLD and you will get wet!) and a choice of a long sleeve zip up neoprene jacket or a splash jacket. We had the perfect level of thrill with some exciting rapids, and we were able to enjoy some beautiful views along the river as well. At the end of our trip, Blazing provided a variety of snacks and drinks, which was an added nice touch. I would recommend this family owned business to anyone. They are very professional and have decades of experience. We are very grateful for the attention to detail Blazing executed, and we're taking home some wonderful family memories!

Yelp
I had such a great experience with Blazing Adventures from the moment I called them to book our rafting trip. Jessica was so nice, helpful, and accomodating. She followed up with us on a few questions we had and was in communication throughout about water levels and our safety. I also spoke with Adam, who was also very nice and helpful. For our rafting trip, Mitch, our guide, and John, our driver, were beyond amazing from the very beginning. Our safety (and COVID-19 protocols) were the number one priority for the duration of our trip. Mitch was so fun and knowledgeable about the local geography, geology, lore, and wildlife. He was wonderful with our curious and adventurous six-year-old son! John was super! He wanted to make sure we were all comfortable and taken care of the whole trip. I would recommend this trip company for anyone looking for adventure in the area!

Yelp
Not a good experience- incomplete communication. Was trying to do Maroon Bells tour. Was told 7 am pickup was near my hotel. It was not. It wasn't 15 min away. I had followed up by email prior day and the return option - they did not answer. Also found they were charging more than double the chamber of commerce shuttle which was $16 RT vs their $40 OW. I recommend the chamber of commerce option.

Yelp
I didn't read the reviews before I booked a rafting trip, that took place today. I came here to write a rave review - and I will get to that - but I also looked at the negative reviews here. I mean, we are living in weird times. Shit happens. In general, if you are going to book an adventure...have some flexibility. And yes, some plans shift because we are in a global pandemic. It's unfair to hold that against any company at this point...right? We went on a rafting excursion with Hilary (our guide) today. IT WAS AWESOME! If you book, you should request her. And remember to tip! Awesome vibe, definitely a pro (one of those people you would want to get shipwrecked with because you know she would make a fire from nothing, find food and build a house from branches, etc). Our group was also generally very cool. I sat in the front and got drenched within .2 seconds of the trip. It was great. We went through some canyon (ugh, I forget the name), but it was just glorious. Earth at its best. This was my first time rafting. It was a level 3 (but probably more of a 2 after the first few rapids). Definitely a good place for a beginner to start. Super professional experience, on time, and totally safe. Also - to my note at the top about the recent negative reviews...we were booked to do Maroon Bells tomorrow afternoon. They called today to let us know that the afternoon trip is short in numbers and gave us a bunch of other great options. They didn't go MIA and also...it's Colorado. There is a lot to do! Staff was helpful and responsive. If plans change, adapt.

Yelp
Planning to hike from Aspen to Crested Butte tomorrow. We have family hiking the opposite direction and we were gonna pick up each other's cars at either end. Weather forecast is awesome. Drove from Denver to Aspen...getting stoked! We had a shuttle booked with these jokers. They cancelled our 7:00am shuttle to the trailhead (tomorrow) at 5:30pm today. A message we got an hour later bc we were driving. To Aspen. To do this hike. And had no cell reception in frickin' Twin Lakes when they were calling. Calling to tell us what? How much they SUCK AT THEIR JOBS?! We paid in advance. $80. Cancelled on us last minute bc they only had a few passengers. WTF. So don't use these jokers unless you want to have a giant blazing misadventure. One star, hated it. Don't recommend.

Yelp
Took the morning and did a jeep off-road tour with Miles. We started up the AJAX, then down the backside and into the ghost town of Ashcroft. He was an amazing guide and the trip was awesome. Then in the afternoon we did the white water rafting tour with Charlie. What an amazing guide he even showered prior too, LOL. Charlie made the trip worth while and we would do it again for sure. All in all we would highly recommend blazing adventures to anyone looking for a fun filled day.

Matthew B.

Yelp
The guides were great and always fun and wanted to talk with us. Rapids were thrilling and the guides really new what they were doing to keep everyone safe.

Yelp
Miles was the best tour guide ever!!!!!!!! Highly recommend requesting him and joining him for a guide of any sort around Aspen.

Yelp
We did the Slaughter house water rafting & the Maroon Bells biking trip and both were awesome! Ronnie was our tour guide on the Slaughter House and Olivia was our tour guide on the Maroon Bells biking. Both were extremely friendly and made the experience that much better. Would recommend both 100% and we will be back!

Yelp
Fantastic white water rafting with great and safe guides and an awesome bbq lunch to end the trip. Fiona was awesome. And we saw bear and a bald eagle and Everything was great!!!

Alyson G.

Yelp
Great day on the Upper Roaring Fork river with Ben. Our visiting guest had never been rafting and she loved it! We had fun and felt safe the entire time!

Yelp
This was the best experience. Laura our raft guide is amazing. She was so kind to my 8 year old son. Let him paddle, helped him swim in the river and answered all his 100 questions with a smile on her face. We had the best time and highly recommended Blazing Adventures.

Ellen K.

Yelp
A really fun trip with great guides, but NOT COVID-safe at all. Not everyone wore a mask on the bus (it wasn't really enforced), both the bus and the rafts were packed and social distancing was not held. In the end almost everyone was eating snacks on the bus right next to each other. Make sure to pack a change of clothes, and I would recommend wearing a wet suit and going swimming.

Yelp
What an awesome experience! We went on the rafting expedition and had the best time! The guides were great! Mike was our boat lead. He was so knowledgeable and kept us safe without compromising FUN! Joey and Nick were also top notch! They all went above and beyond for us and even picked us up at our hotel in Snowmass and let us bring our luggage on the shuttle (as we were checking into another hotel in Aspen after our ride) and dropped us off at the new location (saving us a trip and $20 cab). It was the perfect day!!! Definitely highly recommend !

Yelp
Took a back country tour with Blazing Adventures of Lenado , Colorado yesterday. The tour was excellent. Our tour guide Kevin Jacobs did an outstanding job. He was knowledgeable , engaged and very pleasant! I highly recommend Kevin & Blazing Adventures.

PJ N.

Yelp
My husband and I did a private, full day jeep tour with John. He is an excellent guide--make sure to request him! He made the adventure extra fun with his knowledge of the area. We learned about history and much about the flora and fauna in the mountain terrain. This was an adventurous and rugged experience--comparing it to white rafting, I'd give it a class 4 which is exactly what we wanted! We went in mid-Sept and up high in the mountains it was about 36 degrees so we were glad for layers of clothes as well as warm hats and mittens. The views were spectacular. We stopped numerous times along the route for photo opportunities or bathroom breaks--be prepared--you have to go behind a tree! John provided a delicious lunch which we enjoyed on a scenic ridge. Total time from pick up to drop off was about 5 1/2 hours. Highly recommend!
