Blönduóskirkja

This is an architecturally interesting church that you can see at Blönduós. It was constructed between 1982-1993 and can hold service for up to 250 people. Not sure if you can enter the church or not but there is parking space nearby allowing you to walk around and view the peculiar exterior design of Blönduóskirkja.

Visited in July 2022. The town itself is a convenient place to stop along the Ring Road. The church is a unique, modern structure; aside from a 10 minute stop to enjoy the architecture, there isn't much to see here.

Paused here at the gas station after a long long drive from Reykjavik heading North to Akureyri!! Did not expect such a beautiful church nestled in such a BEAUTIFUL BEAUTIFUL town!! Had planned on spending not more than 20 mins here but ended up spending hours, coz it was soooooo beautiful 🥺🥺

The architectural dominant of the Icelandic capital is Reykjavik. Practically the most convenient place to park a car, for pedestrian calcining along the streets of the city. Great body. On the top floor of the church there is an observation deck, from where you can see the entire capital on all sides, as well as make good photos. The place from which to start the tour of Reykjavik.

Very nice architectural church! Locked when no activity is happening

Visited this quickly whilst getting petrol at the nearby station on our trip around the ring road. The church has a really interesting design and in my opinion is one of the nicest. Worth a quick visit. BTW there are toilets in the nearby petrol station, and they do awesome sausages too!

Another unusual construction on the island. The church was built in 1993 and its appearance was to match the surrounding landscapes and, above all, the mountains.

Beautiful and unusual church, resembling a volcanic crater. Be sure to pay your admission if you go inside!
