Bloodwood Restaurant & Bar

The dishes were solid but nothing to rave home about. We had the pecan pate, fried polenta sticks, scallops, tuna tartare, broccolini and fried chicken. It was all nice but nothing exceptional and nothing that a skilled home cook couldn’t replicate. Also at $10 for one average scallop (again not stunning produce) the prices were on the steep side. Tables very close together. We heard every word of the date next to us which can be entertaining depending on your mood. Overall ‘meh’ rating.

Group of 6 girls for a birthday celebration on a Monday night. The food was absolutely unbelievable. There was 6 of us so we were lucky enough to try a total of 9 dishes. The persimmon and pomegranate salad was a crowd favourite along with the smoked corn and leek croquettes. The stuffed portobello mushrooms were special as were the prawns. The servers were absolutely fantastic and I would recommend everyone to go there for any occasion. It is very reasonably priced.

Got the banquet menu. Each dish looked a bit small but when added together, we left pretty satisfied. The bread and pate was a hot start, and the crispy potatoes were CRACKED. The chicken was not bad but not too special, though the lamb was great. The jelly was a bit butter for me in the Bloodwood trifle but maybe that's just how it be. The apple pie was really good though. For drinks, we had the irohs teahouse which was delicious and fruity. However the Pandan + lime didn't really have any special flavour - just tasted like a regular G&T which was disappointing. Pretty good set menu, though for a small group you might get more bang for your buck just picking the highlights.

Terrific food, terrific service and a very fun atmosphere 😀 👍 my partner and I had such a pleasurable dining experience here 💖 every course was well composed and served with passion and delight! We have no criticism whatsoever and while it wasn't the absolute best meal of our lifetime, it was completely enjoyable and flawless 😍 👌 thank you bloodwood! 😁🤙🤙🤙

We had a wonderful dining experience at Bloodwood which is in the heart of Newtown. Every dish we tried was delicious and full of flavour. We enjoyed the bar area which has lovely cocktails and it was great to try some of the local beers. The service was spectacular and the staff couldn’t do enough. This is one of the best restaurants we’ve tried. We will definitely be going back!

Very limited options. Half of the menu can’t understand and the dish name is only provided in the menu. Space is utilised so much that you have to watch for another table’s people to move your hand 😂

My two friends and I came for dinner this past Thursday, it was a quieter night at the restaurant but it allowed our wonderful server, Maggie (I believe that was her name so sorry if you’re reading this and I got it wrong!) was able to be very attentive to us. We decided on the set menu for 78$ pp and added on the scallops and tuna tartare. Everything was delicious! From start to finish, we were in love with every dish. The wine list was nice and we enjoyed a bottle of Grenache for a reasonable price. Highly recommend coming here for dinner or even for some light snacks and drinks!
