Bloodwood Restaurant & Bar

We had an amazing night at Bloodwood. From the moment we walked in, every staff member greeted us and the whole place had such a warm, welcoming feel. The food was excellent, but what really made the night was Zoe. She was engaging, thoughtful, and completely on point — the kind of service that makes you feel genuinely cared for. She turned a lovely dinner into a truly memorable celebration. Zoe made the night, and Bloodwood shines because of people like her.

26th April 2025 - With a very unassuming frontage to the restaurant this establishment has an unexpected ongoing spacious dining area as you enter further into the restaurant. A fantastic variant menu with flavours to appease all appetites. I personally loved the chorizo and octopus dish and the crispy whitebait. Such a great ambience. The service was very attentive and I know this may be odd to say but a little too attentive. With no specific wait staff assigned to designated areas we were hassled just a little too much during our dining and even at one stage a bottle of beer was emptied into the wrong glass despite the good intentions. However, the food and location is fantastic - may need to designate staff to their areas.

An impromptu drop-in to a fully booked Bloodwood on a Saturday night resulted in a kerbside table ideal for people watching. Fortunately the winter evening was mild and the rest of the experience did not disappoint. The staff were prompt and friendly. The service was brisk & matched by the food. Would return (though will book in advance next time!)

Gorgeous hidden gem in Newtown, you must order the haloumi in filo and the steak with nduja! Their pecan pate is also delicious and super unique. Check out my food Instagram @erinxeats for more!

This is one of my favourite restaurants at the moment. Been here twice and the different platters that we tried were all top notch. Nothing missed the mark here. Cocktails are also well made and presented. They were all too easy to drink. Finally, the staff here are all very friendly and attentive. The venue is a bit louder, but I put that down to everyone enjoying themselves. Yes the food does cost a bit more, however it is well worth it. Definitely looking forward to our next visit!

Group of 6 girls for a birthday celebration on a Monday night. The food was absolutely unbelievable. There was 6 of us so we were lucky enough to try a total of 9 dishes. The persimmon and pomegranate salad was a crowd favourite along with the smoked corn and leek croquettes. The stuffed portobello mushrooms were special as were the prawns. The servers were absolutely fantastic and I would recommend everyone to go there for any occasion. It is very reasonably priced.

We had our wedding dinner at Bloodwood with 60 of our closest friends and fam. Staff were insanely helpful, nothing too much trouble. We dropped off all our decorations and the team very kindly worked their magic with them - not that the space needs any decoration, it's already gorgeous. Team were flexible with meeting our special requests like swapping out desserts for some welcome drinks. Guests loved the delicious share plates, were impressed with the wine selections and the cocktails were delightful. Highly highly recommended if you're looking for an intimate option for a wedding or other function - your guests will be raving about it and we had absolutely 0 stress whatsoever leaving us free to enjoy the heck out of our wedding day. We had a wonderful dining experience at Bloodwood which is in the heart of Newtown. Every dish we tried was delicious and full of flavour. We enjoyed the bar area which has lovely cocktails and it was great to try some of the local beers. The service was spectacular and the staff couldn’t do enough. This is one of the best restaurants we’ve tried. We will definitely be going back!
