I had walked by this place several times without going in because I assumed from looking at the front that, like LouLou, it specializes in cheaper jewelry made out of synthetic materials. But one night I walked by, didn't have anywhere to be, it was open unexpectedly late and seemed bright and the door was open so I figured why not, and I was very pleasantly surprised. In the front of the store it has a lot of items like those at Loulou, for sure, but if you go further back it hosts a treasure trove of finer, handmade artisan pieces, many of which are very artsy and unusual and contemporary, and even further back than that they have a massive selection of nice Turkish linens.
Without planning to I ended up splurging on the loveliest statement ring (oxidized silver, turquoise, garnet, quartz) for $150 and am so in love with the thing that I don't feel the slightest bit guilty for my impulse buy. It's one of a kind and frankly, for the artisanship and the quality of the materials, I thought it was very reasonably priced. I also picked up a beautiful lavender and cream herringbone woven Turkish towel that I plan on just wearing like a shawl becuse its so pretty.
The guy behind the counter was perfect - informative and pleasant without being pushy or overbearing. I stood there trying different pieces on for a long while before I stumbled across the right one and he didn't make me feel rushed or pressured, but he did make a point of telling me facts about the pieces I was trying on, which I liked.
I really think they ought to do more to display the unique, finer pieces and Turkish linens up front because, if they had, I would have gone in and bought from them much sooner. Now that I know what they have there I'll be stopping back in frequently.
