Bloomers of Bakewell is a lovely bakery with real roots — they’ve been part of Bakewell for over a century, originally trading on Matlock Street before moving to their current shop on Water Lane about 25 years ago. I visited recently and was really impressed. The staff were genuinely friendly and welcoming from the moment I walked in. The bakery is well known for their Bloomers Original Bakewell Pudding, made using traditional methods and high-quality local ingredients — flaky pastry, jam, almondy richness — and that care shows in every delicious slice. Everything felt warm, charming, and full of character. It’s not just a place to grab something sweet — it’s a bit of Bakewell history wrapped up in flavor. Highly recommend stopping by Bloomers if you’re ever in Bakewell — for the taste, the atmosphere, and the friendly people behind the counter.

Wow! This is such an amazing bakery. As soon as you step inside, it’s filled with delightful pies and tarts. We purchased a Bakewell tart ( both the original one and the more modern one), a coconut tart ( YUM) and a treacle tart- all delicious! Well worth a look and even a taste from one of their pies.

This is a lovely shop well laid out if somewhat cramped when busy. The staff are very friendly. I bought a bakewell tart because it's my favorite but wasn't impressed by it so I checked out the ingredients. Why do you use palm oil? Why aren't you using locally sourced products? I have given 4 stars because of the shop and the staff but I can't give 5 because I actually didn't like the bakewell tart.

Nothing makes me more excited than seeing gluten free options advertised and I love a Bakewell tart/pudding! The gluten free options come in packaged individual portions, I got one of each and it tasted exactly as I remembered! My only niggle was as we'd arrived home I noticed the Bakewell tart was actually out of date by 3 days but we had already travelled over an hour home by this point, otherwise we would have popped back in to exchange.

This bakery was just around the corner from one of the stops of the open top bus tour on the Peak Sightseer. I’m glad we jumped off here and turned left into this picturesque street. I love the history of this bakery and the construction of its gorgeous stone building. The taste of their original bakewell pudding and the whole experience transported me to another era.

Bloomers of Bakewell has been established since 1889. It sells a variety of tarts and puddings that caters to all customers. The Bakewell tart is the one specialty to taste if one goes to visit Bakewell. The staffs are friendly and helpful. Don't miss it!

Bloomers pork pie with extra strong mature Stilton...oh my days! Warmed up in the oven this was sheer utter unadulterated joy. Absolutely off the scale delicious. And their Bakewell tart...wow! Light, mega tasty, delicious, yummy, the superlatives could go on and on. Pointless shopping anywhere else if you can get your food items from Bloomers

Yelp
During a two week stay outside of Bakewell, this became our favorite bakery. The bread was always so fresh and tasty and after a thorough survey our group determined, unanimously and unambiguously, that Bloomers' Bakewell pudding was our favorite! Lovely staff too.

Yelp
A fab day to end what started off as a course. It was the first time to visit Bakewell for me where we had gone for a guided walk to the area. A nice place if you like watching loads of seagulls, swans, ducks and fish all in the same place. The day was gloomy but what lifted our spirits was the homity pie from the Bloomers of Bakewell. Absolutely brilliant traditional pie and they also claim to be the home of "THE FIRST AND ONLY ORIGINAL BAKEWELL PUDDING". The place is quite small but hosts a great amount of variety each more tempting than the other. It's almost like the food shouting out to you "you gotta try me or you've missed something brilliant". The prices are absolutely reasonable and I got about dinner for 4 of us for under a £10.3 including dessert. They also hoard a bespoke collection of 60 local and British cheeses. Do not forget to try their chocolate fudge cake which almost melts in your mouth. Wish this were closer to Leeds but surely will go there just for the pies.
