Vinson Cunningham’s Grub Street Diet

"A neat, futuristic coffee shop with blond-wood tables and large glass walls that serves as the narrator’s pre-recording ritual stop. He orders the same items each time — a cold brew (letting the barista pick the blend), a green juice, and a brown-butter blondie — noting the blondie is often a bit burnt but redeemed by a dusting of sea-salt flakes; he finishes it in two bites while walking across the plaza toward work." - Rima Parikh, Margalit Cutler

Google
This is such a weird little Blue Bottle Coffee outpost, but it serves up the delicious espresso you know and love from the amazing company. It's located inside a shared workspace type office, so they ask you to keep quiet, LOL. There isn't much seating at all, and the coffee bar is a little outshoot from the main workspace rental area. I guess it's great if you're paying for a spot but otherwise, this isn't a location where you can sit and work and sip espresso all day long. Parking is next to impossible, so be warned. I was lucky that my hubby was able to drop me off and drive around the block a few times so I could run in a fetch coffee for us. We ended up drinking it in the car. This Blue Bottle does have stunning views of the adjacent marina, with lots of fancy pants boats just steps outside. The coffee was exactly what you expect from a Blue Bottle: high quality, pricey, and done just right. My macchiato was excellent and worth every penny (in my opinion). If you need your Blue Bottle fix, you won't be disappointed in this location.

Google
My absolute favorite coffee shop. I found them in San Francisco and was thrilled when this one opened in Southern California. I love the coffee so much, I now have the beans delivered to me in Orlando! Whenever I’m in town, I always visit this cafe. The pour over is my favorite with half and half. Always an excellent cup of coffee. Smooth and never bitter. The cafe is beautifully located on the bay, so you can take in the sights. There is a lot of seating outside as well as a few seats inside. I love the natural wood, clean atmosphere. Very minimalist. The staff is consistently helpful and friendly. Always a great experience. See you again when I’m back in town.

Google
I ordered a matcha latte at Blue Bottle Coffee and it was smooth, rich, and perfectly balanced—not too bitter or sweet. The café has a calm vibe, great for working or relaxing. A bit pricey, but worth it for the quality.

Google
Blue Bottle at Lido in Newport has long been one of my go-to spots for a coffee that feels both elevated and comforting—right by the water with that signature Blue Bottle vibe: clean, modern, and quietly cool. Their cappuccino and flat white are consistently excellent, with beautifully textured microfoam and smooth espresso. The baristas here really know what they’re doing—thoughtful, skilled, and always kind. You can tell they care about every cup. That said, I was disappointed to see they’ve recently stopped offering organic Clover milk. It was one of the things that set them apart—knowing that the milk matched the integrity of their beans. While the coffee is still top-notch, it’s a noticeable shift for those of us who prioritize organic ingredients. On the pour-over side, they offer a great selection of single-origin options and are always happy to guide you if you’re not sure what to pick. I usually go for a medium roast, and it’s always smooth and flavorful without being too acidic. The pastries here are another highlight—the almond croissant is a must, especially warmed up. But my personal obsession? The waffle. It’s unlike anything else—light, crisp, and almost custardy inside. They’ve also added overnight oats and a few other health-forward options for days you want something lighter. Overall, I still love this location for the experience and the baristas, but I do hope they reconsider bringing back organic milk—it made a great coffee even better.

Google
Cautious Before Going !!! If you want to find a coffee shop to chill and relax, this is not the place for you. They shared the space with SAP and the building staff will not let you sit there although it says open seating everywhere. They charge $4/hour for seating unless you go outside. Definitely worth it after you paid $7 for a coffee and you can't even enjoy it? They should put a sign outside telling people they charge $4/hour for seating and let people can decide if they want to shop here.

Google
Amazing coffee here and seating is outside. I recommend the cookie and the waffles sometimes they’ll run out at the end of the day. I ordered a simple latte and my friend order a seasonal black cardamom latte one which was so good. Parking may be hard to come by but there’s a large parking lot next to the marine store

Google
Their business model is to rent the table to use as a workspace. You can’t just order a coffee and sit. We didn’t know that. It was my groups first time. They kicked us out 15 minutes after we had all placed our orders. We wished we would’ve gotten our coffees across the street where we could sit too.

Blue Bottle is my go-to. Great coffee, cool spot, perfect for hanging or working.

Yelp
Blue Bottle Newport Beach has truly become one of my favorite little routines The staff here are always so warm and kind, not just to me, but to my dog Peyton too. They greet her like an old friend and always have a treat ready for her, which honestly makes my whole day! I always order the NOLA with cold foam, it's my forever favorite. Smooth, creamy, and just the right amount of sweet. Nothing else compares! I'm so happy this location is close to me, I live by the beach and all the other Blue Bottles are in LA, which is way too far for a regular coffee run. This one feels like such a gem and I'm so grateful it's in the neighborhood. Thank you for making every visit feel so special

Yelp
You have a very small area where you can sit and drink your coffee, if you want to sit anywhere else you have to pay. Paying to sit, is RIDICULOUS! This place should be Called office for rent , not a coffee shop. Coffee is good. Ambiance: okay, feels like an office

Yelp
Giving it a 4 not because of the coffee or baristas but because of the woman working at the front desk. Was at this location at 6:58a this morning. Patiently waiting for 7am opening. Promptly at 7a she unlocked the doors, holding them open just enough to get it unlocked and then letting it go and turning her back when there was NO way she didn't see me. You can't hold the door knowing I'm standing RIGHT there. Can't say good morning, welcome? Aunica at the barista station made up for the distaste of first impressions. She was insightful and kind. Got my matcha. She explained it was a little bit bitter as it is and asked me if I wanted sweetener. I let her know I did not and that's how I get it when I come there although I've never been to this location. I do sometimes get a beet latte, but they did not have that at this location. They do have a default of oat milk, so there is no extra charge. This place has a significant amount of space for people to work in. When I first walked in, I thought it was some sort of library or office space... And it very well maybe but it was a fantastic workspace for a coffee Café, where nowadays places like Starbucks are taking their seats out and limiting space.

Yelp
Beautiful location with great views -- easily one of the best Blue Bottle spots. The layout and operating style are unique and fit the setting perfectly. Coffee is consistently good, and the overall experience feels calm and well thought out.

Yelp
Love this Blue Bottle location. The workers are super nice and the drinks are great. My wife always gets the Nola Float (coffee + ice cream) and I got the Nola Shakerato. Crazy name but super, super good. I can't wait to get that again. Bathrooms are always clean since it's part of the office rental place that the blue bottle is a part of.

Yelp

Yelp
A beautifully located blue bottle that's not in LA! This spot is clean and beautiful next to the port, and inside Hanahaus- a shared reservation-required work space (like WeWork). We parked on the free 30 mins only spot on the street nearby. The coffee is always good, I ordered the nola cold foam and it was delicious. It's clearly roasted with great beans , a few sips and I was wired... and I drink a lot of coffee! This place also sell merch, pastries, instant coffee, beans, cups, etc. it's a great coffee shop!

Yelp
Delicious coffee, but definitely will take to go in the future. I didn't love the location. It's inside a co-working space. We came on a Saturday and were told we needed to pay $4 to sit as we had sat in the co-working portion. The Blue Bottle section has one large table people can stand at, and then you can sit at the tables out front (aka not facing the water!) I hope Blue Bottle gets some additional OC locations with open seating!

Yelp
TLDR: Classic blue bottle location with expensive parking. Drinks are on the sweeter end, but the compromise is that portside view while being sheltered from the weather (and sandy beaches). Tip: Try to find street parking, because the parking structure is $10 for the first hour - no smaller increments! - - - - - - I don't frequent Blue Bottle too often, but the one at Via Lido is not one that I would consider frequently visiting. For starters, parking is quite expensive. Street parking is difficult to find, and parking in the structure is $10 / hour and $2.50 per 15 mins after. (They do not do validation.) Parking at the nearby plaza opens your car up for towing, as there is an attendant actively keeping tabs on cars. (And they even mentioned that they actively tow.) Outside of parking complaints, walking into Blue Bottle "from the back," I discovered Hanahaus, a workspace that you pay $4/hour to use - awkward! Thankfully, Blue Bottle does have some seating, which was fairly comfortable, and they also have well-lit high tables and potentially some meetings rooms in the back, though I am unsure if Hanahaus owns those, too. Having not visited Blue Bottle in a while, I went with the Winter Nola, one of my previous favorites, with oat milk. This drink was intensely bold, not milked down, but very sweet and harder to enjoy. While the staff were friendly and the portside views were majestic, I am unsure if I will be returning for a quick coffee meetup.

Yelp
I want to start by saying this is one of the most beautiful and clean cafés I have ever visited. I happened to be in the area and stopped in for a drink, not expecting much from a place I had not specifically sought out. The staff was incredibly friendly and worked efficiently, which made for a great first impression. I ordered an iced matcha latte with oat milk, and while the presentation of the café left me impressed, the drink itself was a bit underwhelming. It mostly tasted like oat milk, and although I appreciate that they do not rely on excessive sweeteners like many other places, I think it could benefit from an extra half to one gram of matcha. The color, which I did not capture in a photo, was quite pale. If I were rating the drink alone, I would give it a 1 out of 5, though I do not believe matcha is their specialty. I only wish that was reflected in the pricing. Would love to come back to try a speciality of theirs.

Yelp
Love this place, the coffee, the flaky buttery croissant, the location, the sea breeze blowing at you. Just a great place to sit and enjoy

Yelp
Relaxing and clean coffee spot with a nice view of Newport Bay. It shares a space with HanaHaus, and the layout's a little confusing , as it's not super clear what's part of the café and what's coworking. A basic single-origin coffee was $6, which feels a bit steep, but I like that they do pour-overs and use more eco-friendly materials for takeout. The cashier was really friendly and service was quick.

Yelp
I have been to Blue Bottle Coffee before and it never disappoints. They call it a cappuccino but it is intentionally more like a flat white with silky microfoam and a balanced espresso flavor that lingers nicely. Opt for oat milk for an even smoother texture. The liege waffle was just right with a gentle crunch and not overly sweet which made it a perfect match for the coffee. Blue Bottle has great cafes and started in the Bay Area which adds to the charm. Cozy calm vibe and attentive service round it out.

Yelp
Great location by a harbor and lots of popular stores so nice views of boats while you wait for your coffee. Also a fantastic spot if you want to get some work done on the office side - although you do have to pay for that. Not really a stay and hang out kind of coffee place though. They have a few tables on the coffee side but it didn't feel like a spot to mingle at all. They do have outdoor seating in the front. The service was good. It was a little busy and there isn't much extra room. It likely took 15 minutes from walking in to getting my coffee. The coffee itself was fantastic! ! I had the black cardamom latte and it was so delicious. I wish every coffee shop offered this flavor.
google avatar

Kaitlyn A.

Yelp
Consistently delicious drinks, high quality matcha, wonderful staff, and a great space in Lido! This shop is connected to Hanahaus where you can rent tables or conference rooms and there is also some free indoor and outdoor tables for blue bottle specifically. My favorite drinks are the signature NOLA, matcha latte, and their new chai is to die for- default is oat milk for all drinks!

Yelp
Stopped by Blue Bottle Coffee today--simple space, rich aroma, and that clean, balanced taste that just hits right. It's been a while since I've had coffee this smooth. Time slows down a little here, in the best way.

Sarahi C.

Yelp
Great coffee!! And the customer service was just as great! I had Anneka (not sure if I'm spelling it correctly sorryyy) as my barista and she was so sweet and welcoming! It was my first time here but not my last. Great ambiance and yummy coffee! 10/10
google avatar

Nick P.

Yelp
Underwhelming matcha latte. It tasted like more milk than matcha. Very pricey coffee too. If anything, you're paying for the ambiance. Location is great overlooking the marina. Odd to have iced matcha served in a paper cup.
google avatar

Melanie D.

Yelp
Surprisingly fast on a weekday morning with pleasant service. I was looking to try something new and went with a seasonal NOLA with almond milk. It hit the exact spot I was looking for, which was something with a little sweetness to perk up my morning. It had vanilla, cinnamon and honey mixed with a chicory coffee. A good balance of bitter and sweet. My husband got his usual iced Americano and said that it was excellent. Quite a few people working in the workspace attached to it, but it felt very quiet with a nice view.
google avatar

Serena Y.

Yelp
One of my favorite spots at Newport Beach for coffee. The store is clean and neat. They have fresh beans for purchase and most of the beans have fresh dates. One thing make this place special is the view behind it, it has nice ocean view, boats, so people can take good pictures here. However, the outside ocean view sitting area is belongs to a co-working space company, so now you will need to pay if you want to go outside (they used to have no restrictions on letting people go outside and take few photos for the ocean view). Street parking is limited but there is a parking garage nearby and you need to walk for few blocks. There are couple good stores and coffee shop along the way too. Coffee is always smooth and has nice coffee taste, like other blue bottle coffee normally do.
google avatar

Ashley Y.

Yelp
Delicious! The iced coffees and matches are way bigger now, instead of being two tablespoons of coffee! They also have house made almond milk! And they've also added more delicious snacks to the menu! I highly recommend ordering from here especially if you're remote working! To make it even easier, you can order from their app!
google avatar

Don J.

Yelp
Blue Bottle is great but Buyer Beware, you can not sit at the seats, this is a very annoying coffee shop and should be separated by a wall with the shared space with open seats that appear for everyone. Very rude people make you move again and again. If you want to share your business space please build a wall. This is a shared office space for people that can't afford an office.
google avatar

Andrea L.

Yelp
i love this location. i try to go during off peak hours to avoid the craziness. really great seating with lots of space to work and close walk to the beach
google avatar

Natalie R.

Yelp
The best coffee with a view! This location has the best service and makes a superb drink. The staff are friendly and prompt. Parking can be difficult, but well worth it.
google avatar

Yelp
Huge fan of this coffee space. Elegant yet accessible. Quiet but you can still hold a conversation. Gorgeous views and great coffee. Huge win. I will absolutely be back and tune I need to work in Newport!
google avatar

Yelp
This location is very accessible if you're walking around the Lido area and looking for a good cup of coffee - if you're driving specifically for a visit here, that can be tricky. The staff here are almost always friendly, albeit busy when you come in. They have some of the best pastries here - I highly recommend any of their croissants in particular! Their menu is more unique than some other coffee shops, so it can be off-putting if you don't know what to order, but if you're a coffee pro, it's likely one you'll appreciate. On my latest visit I tried their seasonal black cardamom latte (hot) and it was delicious - particularly the orange flavoring! Their drinks have been hit or miss for me in the past, but I'm planning on coming back to order that again! Now, a couple of cons go with this review: The seating here belongs to Hana Haus, a rentable workspace, so there is no seating for Blue Bottle customers (you'd have to pay to book a spot). The prices of drinks are also about $1 more than your standard craft roastery (likely due to the waterfront space), which does keep me from being more of a regular. They also don't keep your more standard syrups like caramel or vanilla on hand to flavor your drink, so bear that in mind if you have a sweet-tooth. Their sweet latte is flavored with a syrup derived from raw sugar.
google avatar

Frank E.

Yelp
Place was closed for a private event but they didn't update their opening hours online. So one needs to call in advance to check whether they are open or not.
google avatar

Christine O.

Yelp
Good morning this is the second time I've been to Blue Bottle coffee have done a mobile order. They don't have it ready then you still have to wait then I get my cup is full of ice. I paid 775 for a cup of ice give me a break I got a refund. I'll go home and make it myself
google avatar

Kate B.

Yelp
4.2 stars Great coffee, no doubt. However, the cappuccino tasted like a latte. Be sure to have a bit of patience as this location was a tad bit slow. Additionally, they don't provide the traditional syrups like sugar free vanilla, caramel, etc.. Besides that, the people working were sweet and the space is limited unless you want to pay by the hour for seating (as there is pretty limited seating for the blue bottle area outside). Will definitely return and pet friendly!
google avatar

Laura C.

Yelp
The atmosphere is divine! I like the work shared space with blue bottle it adds ambience The chicory root coffee Nola Shakerato was a perfect palate pleaser
google avatar

Yelp
4/12/2023 SEASONAL NOLA / ORANGE BLOSSOM NOLA (with whole milk) You can really taste the orange blossom at first sip. The chicory coffee is still strong  and the added orange blossom is bright, creamy, and floral. A delicious flavor combo. Yet the orange blossom is front and center. SWEET LATTE (with whole milk, breve) This is my go-to when I'm at Blue Bottle. Every once in awhile I'll ask for the breve. A breve latte. It is half-and-half steamed instead of milk. BB makes it frothier, creamier, velvety and rich. The brown sugar brings a hint of sweetness too, a perfect latte on a cold and cloudy day. PARKING It always sucks to find parking here. There is free street parking, but it's not easy to find. Sometimes you can wait to see if anyone is leaving, but there's no guarantee. It seems the Lido Marina parking structure is now opened, whereas it was closed before, for reasons unknown. So you can park there if you want to browse around longer and walk around. The last time I was there, the parking was expensive, so recommend driving around for free parking instead.

Yelp
I was pretty disappointed in the service. I was excited to try blue bottle coffee today and wound up not ordering because the barista at the register seemed annoyed and bothered with me asking to clarify which costarican single orgin was available. When buying specialty coffee its nice if the baraista at least knows what they are serving or is at least willing to engage with the guest. Pretty disappointing to have this disgruntled man say "I dont know..." and walk away from the counter. I decided to go across the street to Herst coffee where the baristas were more than willing to talk about their offerings.
google avatar

Andy V.

Yelp
1. The drinks were delicious, and I love the creamy texture of the iced NOLA! 2. The spot has fun productive vibes as it is located inside another business similar to a WeWork! 3. The staff were friendly and quick with the drinks! The NOLA was made immediately after I finished the transaction! Note: There are limited street parking and a nearby parking garage! Yelp
Newport Beach, CA I think I died and went to coffee heaven. I just had a cappuccino that tasted like perfection in a cup. In all seriousness, based on the words of Jesus Christ, I know there is a real heaven, and whatever we will experience in heaven will be so much more than we can ever imagine but until then... this is very good coffee. Seriously, I had the most amazing decaf cappucino with whole milk just before closing. I enjoyed every last drop. I've been wanting to visit a Blue Bottle shop for many, many years and this was my first visit. Whenever I walk by this particular shop it's always closed because they close at 7 PM and I'm usually by this shop after hours. I was walking on the Marina boardwalk at Lido overlooking the boats and yachts and the smell of coffee was incredibly enticing. I saw the lights on through their glass window and people sitting at tables inside and I walked around to see if I could catch them before closing. Score! I spoke with the nicest man at the barista counter who explained a bit about the company and answered all of my coffee questions. All of their coffee is roasted in the Bay area and I understand that quality and consistency is extremely important to their company. There was another barista in training and boy was I a lucky guinea pig of the night....he made me a truly perfect cappucino! I purchased a 12 oz. bag of whole bean espresso roast which has notes of Chocolate Orange zest and Brown sugar...Can't wait to brew it at home!
google avatar

MaDonna W.

Yelp
Hands down the most delicious coffee I have ever had... and I've had coffee from around the World. This coffee is so smooth and rich, every sip is better then the last. I'm not kidding... I had a Cardamom latte. Divine. We had a iced Matcha as well, tasty, Matcha is not my thing.... However.... (Flipping great coffee is!) The staff are super friendly, it takes a bit longer then let's say a "Starbucks"but... It is worth every extra minute. They are dog friendly and offer pastries and cold drinks... If you haven't been... GO!
google avatar

Anastasia B.

Yelp
By far the best coffee shop around. The staff there is super nice & always is friendly when I come in. The iced NOLA is the best cold brew you could find. & the view of the bay in lido is . Whenever I have a friend from out of town visit me, I always make sure we come here.
google avatar

Yelp
This cafe is right along the water in Lido Village so has a gorgeous view of the harbor. Parking along the street is metered but if you park in corner structure there is No validation so not convenient. The drinks looked amazing but didn't taste like much. I had a green tea latte and my date had a cappuccino which also looked amazing but was lacklustre for the price you pay. The seating is limited to outside or inside at a small table workspace otherwise you have to sign up and make a reservation online to sit anywhere else in the shop. Menu is small and very eclectic overall it's a great place if you are taking a stroll inthe area. Drinks and view look amazing for sure and great way to start the day.
google avatar

Kimberly E.

Yelp
Picked up a (Too Good To Go app) order for $5! I was expecting an old soggy pastry from the day before, but the ones I got were so delicious still! I was genuinely surprised with the items that I got! (croissant, almond croissant, lemon cake, cookie) I also ended up ordering an iced matcha latte and I loved it! This place definitely encourages a positive workplace for individuals or as a team. There are also a lot of tables and work rooms in the building and chairs outside to enjoy the view!
google avatar

Sandra L.

Yelp
Beautiful interior and amazing view of the water and boats that are docked. I ordered a Cafe latte ($6) and Single Origin Pour Over Coffee ($6) and they both had really strong notes and good coffee flavor. I love the simplicity in their branding and all of their branded goods (i.e. coffee pour over device, coffee beans, etc.). I wasn't a huge fan of the prices. It's more costly here compared to other coffee establishments for the same item. In addition, parking is a pain here. I get it, it's right next to the water, but when I'm just looking for a quick stop this is not the place for me.
google avatar

Jason Y.

Yelp
They have great drinks and the location is perfect. But the drinks are so small and they don't have size options. So you can drink an iced latte with one sip of the straw because it's more ice than coffee, tastes great but it's not enough to get me thru the day. The employees are nice, have good suggestions and the views from the cafe are amazing!
google avatar

Kammi K.

Yelp
If you are coming just for coffee and you're taking it to go, 10/10 this place is super good. I loved how unique some of the flavorings were and the saffron vanilla latte was amazing/unique. The barista's were very nice and I got my order pretty quick. Only thing I was disappointed with was they only had one table inside and a standing area that you could work for free. I was needing to charge my computer and couldn't find an outlet I could use for free. The coffee shop is connected to an establishment that you can use their space to work, but that you have to pay to work in the space. Which is OK, but for paying almost $14 for just a pastry and coffee just kind of disappointing that I wasn't able to sit by the water and work without paying extra fee. For the prices you should be able to sit there and work and not have to pay even more money. They did have outside seating, but they do not have any charging outlets out there, and you were up against the main street. Overall, if you're just wanting a cup of coffee, I would definitely recommend going here, but if you're looking to sit and work, I would go somewhere else.
google avatar

Yelp
This is THE place to get a perfect espresso or ristretto. Always measured, timed, brewed, and served to the highest standards. Combine it with the (paid) ambiance of the Hanahouse and you have a great escape place. Love it. Please keep it brewing

Yelp
On the border of Newport Harbor, adjacent to the quaint cove of Lido Marina, in the HanaHaus shared workspace filled with racing sails trimming their enclosure, and a view of the yachts gracing their sightline, lies the famed Blue Bottle Coffee - Via Lido. The service is spot on, customer experience is great, and the New Orleans iced Shakerato with oat milk is a wonderful, yet pricey, treat to sip on while watching the boats drift on by. The taste of the Shakerato is sweet, with a punch of tantalizing chicory adding to its allure.

Yelp
10/10 on everything I tried here. From the matcha and latte to the croissants and avocado toast. This is a great place to grab coffee with friends and walk around to the shops The service was 1000/10 For more coffee shop recommendations follow me on instagram @audrey.pulliam or here on yelp

Yelp
Cute little coffee place inside HanaHaus where you can work and drink coffee. I like their lattes and I'm ordering an orange blossom nonfat latte.

Yelp
Always had great, kind service, delicious coffee and fresh pastries here. The space inside is small but there's lovely casual outdoor seating that gets nice sunlight and/or it's also just a beautiful location to walk around and soak up the other local shops or photo worthy views.

Yelp
Summary for Review: - Been to both Palo Alto Blue Bottle & this one, and I personally thought this place is much nicer (area-wise, spaciousness, etc.) - Hanahaus (study/work space) is in same place, however you NEED TO PAY to sit at the Hanahaus areas (open seating $4/hr as of August 2023) - Bluebottle seating areas are on the right side as you enter the place. Outside seatings are also Blue Bottle seating areas. - Recommend hitting Lido Marina after grabbing coffee here even if you don't sit at Blue Bottle :) very convenient walk. Any Tip: - Grab coffee here, walk to Lido Marina afterwards - Spacious parking near ZPizza. you don't have to pay parking near ZPizza but if you go to Lido Marina parking structure you have to pay (2 hours free with validation) Service (5/5) - Friendly & welcoming Ambiance (5/5) - Spacious and lots of natural light
