Bartender with black bob and bangs is very, very rude. I love this bar, come here for karaoke often and haven't had to deal with her before. But she made my friends birthday extremely uncomfortable, treated us like we were drunk and incoherent (most of us are sober, and I am pregnant 🤰) and our first interaction with her was her snatching drinks out of 2 of our party members hands and yelling at them for bringing them in (they had no idea it wasn't allowed, they have never been to this bar before, the bottles were almost empty from a previous dinner, and the bouncer let them in with them. They were not trying to cause any issues, and simply did not realize they had them still.) She could have just told us to throw them away, avoided physical contact, and we wouldn't have felt uncomfortable. Not to mention, one of our party members just bought a round of 15 shots for our party, so we were obviously there to spend $$$. She then continued to push us out of a table that we were told to sit at for our friends birthday (I guess there was also another birthday this night, and we were mistakenly seated there by another bartender) We would have moved if we were asked nicely or told that was not for us, but she basically pulled one of our party members to the side and lectured him about us being there and bringing drinks in, again after already physically and aggressively taking them from our hands. Half of our party left because they felt uncomfortable, and the rest of us stayed for a while but tried to avoid her at the bar at all costs. It basically ruined our friends birthday, and she is ALWAYS going to Blue Genes to support. Idk, probably the weirdest bar experience I have had. Love this place, everyone else is a gem. She ruined the vibes for almost everyone and made half of our group feel like crooks. Always love being served by Chase, though ❤️ And the other bartender on shift that night was awesome and very helpful, as we refused to be served by her the remainder of our time there.

Enjoy a night at blue genes, however, customer service last night was not friendly in any respect to the word. The bartender with the black Bob could use a serious attitude adjustment especially if you’re working a Saturday night. It was good otherwise but the rude bartender trope is such a turn off.

had fun until the karaoke announcer grabbed a mic to insert himself and joined every song if he knew it 😭 pick obscure songs so the karaoke announcer won’t steal your shine….he had a good voice but it really threw me off, my friend and i signed up and waited all night for our turn just for this dude to harmonize on top of our duet. really annoying

Blue Gene’s is a hidden gem in salt lake! The vibes are immaculate. I’ve come here with my girlfriends for drag shows, karaoke and for trivia. We always have way too much fun taking pictures in the Photo Booth and the drink options are great!

Upon entering I wasn't sure of what to expect. We were greeted by a very nice Hawaiian shirt clad bartender who was great at mixing drinks. The atmosphere is best described as eclectic mixed with a pleasant fever dream of bar room necessities: a very nice pool table, various arcade games, and a wide selection of table top games that ensures the time you spend with friends is going to not only be strange, but delightful as well. If you want to find a hidden gem with each part of it being a labor of love with a staff to match? This is the place for you.

Went here for a friend gathering, and it was such a blast! Karaoke was so fun, and the atmosphere and service was great. Very kind.

This was a cool bar to visit but for me personally I couldn't get behind the decor it almost felt like a McDonald's interior but I will say the bartender and door man were both very nice and doing a great job however if I'm paying for a drink and it's 10+ dollars per drink I think they should be higher quality and a little larger for the portions.

The drinks are super cheap and very good! We came to karaoke that started at supposedly 9 PM. It is now 10:15 and we haven’t started anything yet. The only food they have are chips and cup of noodles so they let us door dash Taco Bell.

Yelp
Blue Gene's has come such a long way since their opening a few years ago! It's located right next to Urban Lounge, a local concert venue, and they compliment each other well as neighbors. My friends and I have made lots of memories hitting both spots in one night. It also happens to be my favorite bar for karaoke. The crowd makes it feel casual and relaxed, so if you're not much of a singer but still want to get on the mic, it's a low-pressure atmosphere. They have drag karaoke and classic karaoke weekly! The ambiance is retro and modern, so it's a really cool place to hangout and enjoy a cold drink. There's tons of seating, a free pool table in the back with arcade games, and a really cute colored photo booth!

Yelp
Wandered in after the Utah - TCU game looking for a couple more beers to cap off the night. Drag karaoke was going full steam ahead and we experienced some passionate performances by the impeccably dressed performers. Bar staff was great; friendly, accommodating and engaging. Beer was as cold as I've had and not outrageously priced. Blue Gene's was a great random find for some unexpected late night entertainment and cold beer. Mixed drink menu looked good too.

Yelp
Great small bar in SLC. Love the vibes and bartenders are awesome. Funny story - though the bartender created this delicious cocktail just for me but turns out it's called an Aviation. Yummy lavender colored drink!

Yelp
Best brunch in Utah (yes, that includes Park City). I had the waffle and added pork belly and egg (over easy). The waffle is thick with a crunch on the outside and spongy soft center. Pair it with the whisky syrup and it's AMAZING. The pork belly is cooked perfectly with meat that falls apart under a crispy-caramelized exterior. The egg was an egg and the potatoes had great flavor -- seasoned with herbs. If the size was a bit larger the potatoes would have a better texture. As they are, I found them a little dry; tasty but dry. The alcohol menu is the only place where Park City has them beat. This "bar" (it's a 21+ establishment) has a limited alcohol supply. They did not have Bailey's Irish Cream or Grand Marnier. They made a nice substitute, but for a bar those two items are pretty basic bar liquors. The vibe is fantastic if you're into Urban Living. The space is small. It was crowded, which added to the energy for Sunday brunch. The service is excellent. I sat at the bar and enjoyed my kind and fun bar stool buddies. I can't wait to come back!

Yelp
I tried this spot when it was RYE, and they seem to have the same good food still. The decor is redone with a bit of an old diner vibe, I kinda liked it better before but no biggie. Bring your ID as it is a bar now. I can't speak to their dinner menu as I've only gone for brunch (they are only currently doing brunch Fri-Sun 9-3). I'm glad they still have their pork belly bowls, I really liked that last time but went the the fried chicken & biscuits this time, which were also good. The chicken wasn't that spectacular but I really liked the gravy and the potatoes which were seasoned nicely. We also got some chilaquiles to share, which came out more like nachos but we're still pretty good. I also tried some of the veggie bowl, the mushrooms in it were tasty and tender with a soy saucey flavor. My only complaint was the Michelada, prob the saddest michelada I've ever had would def pass on it next time.

Yelp
Decorations are a little plain so it feels a bit plain not comfy. I'm giving it four stars because their KJ is awesome and they're close to downtown so if you live in the area super convenient karaoke.

Yelp
Good vibe, lots of space, bartenders were nice and knowledgable! I'd recommend coming here!
