Yelp
Lookin' for a place to eat on Lanai can be difficult, as there are limited restaurants due to the small population of folks on Lanai.
Last week while I was working on Lanai, when lunch rolled around I took out my trusty phone to Yelp out a food joint.
Upon scanning the Yelp app. I came across this food business called - "Blue Ginger Cafe".
After reading a few of Yelp buddies - Nat N., Leah E., Bridgett P., Denalee C., Angela C., & Kelly W.'s awesome reviews about the Blue Ginger Cafe, I decided to go chance 'em!
Located in the heart of Lanai City, you can find the Blue Ginger Cafe right across the street from the Dole Park.
The menu here appears to be local style comfort food, but they also featured fresh baked pastries, as well as burgers & sandwiches.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, they did allow "inside dining", but of course since the restaurant is small, there is a limited person capacity.
If you're not comfortable eating "inside" of the restaurant, they did have covered "outside dining" too, as there were several tables & chairs in front of the restaurant.
As I walked into the restaurant, there was a wall menu posted, but after looking at Yelp, I already knew what I came here for.............da Honey Dipped Frrrrrrried Chicken plate!!!! Yum!!!!
How it works -
1. If you come here to dine, it's CASH or CHECKS ONLY!!!! But the bottom line is CASH is KING Baby! No moolah, no eat!
2. As you walk into the Cafe, you check out the wall menu, then place your food order at the counter, make your payment, then when your food is ready, someone will deliver your food to your table.
3. If you don't want to dine at the restaurant, they do offer "take out", as I saw some folks who probably placed a phone order, drove up to the restaurant, walked in & picked up their food and walked out.
What can I say about the Honey Dipped Fried Chicken plate????
The Honey Dipped Fried Chicken was OUTSTANDING!!!!
My plate came with (4) pieces of Honey Dipped Fried Chicken fried to perfection!
The freshly fried chicken had a nice texture, and it appears they dipped the chicken in a honey based sauce, as the fried chicken crust was slightly "wet". The Honey Dipped Fried Chicken had a savory & sweet taste, as you got the best of both worlds!
The plate came with a scoop of white rice, & you had a choice between a mac salad, or garden salad. I went with the garden.
Overall, a wonderful lunch!!!
Now I'm tryin' to figure out which place has the best Honey Dipped Fried Chicken, as another business on Molokai also made a wonderful Honey Dipped Fried Chicken............
Perhaps I'll have to go back to both of these places again, to reconfirm my Honey Dipped Fried Chicken findings????? :D
