"Texas has no shortage of stunning swimming holes, and Wimberley's Blue Hole swimming area is a prime example. Old-growth cypresses provide shady spots when you need to cool down, while rope swings offer an adventurous entry into the water. This is a popular swimming location, so during the season (May through September) you'll need to make a reservation on the website. Blue Hole Regional Park also includes 5.5 miles of trails, picnic areas, an amphitheater, and basketball and volleyball courts." - Travel + Leisure Editors

A truly beautiful place with incredible nature. Unfortunately, we visited right after a period of flooding and heavy rain. The water was not its usual blue color but rather green, and swimming was not allowed at the time. Hopefully, next time we will get to experience its full beauty. That said, we still enjoyed the peacefulness and solitude of nature, especially since there were very few people around even though it was the weekend

J ust spent a half day at Blue Hole and honestly, it was super chill. The water’s insanely clear and cold—in a refreshing way—and those rope swings? So much fun. It’s got that classic Texas Hill Country vibe, with huge trees and that laid-back energy. Not too crowded either, which made it even better for just laying out or floating around. The hiking trails were peaceful and easy to follow. Perfect spot to unplug, cool off, and just enjoy some nature without feeling too remote. Definitely coming back. The swimming area was really well maintained and the grassy lawn gave off major picnic-and-nap energy. It had a good mix of families, friend groups, and solo folks just doing their own thing. You do need a reservation to swim during the season, but it’s 100% worth it. The walk from parking to the water is short and scenic. Everything just felt really easy and peaceful. If you’re looking for a low-key nature day with some Texas charm, this is the move.

Absolutely gorgeous place!! The water is beautiful and cold (really cold since it’s spring fed). The little yard they have is well kept and has umbrellas for some shade in the warm months. No alcohol or smoking allowed, no pets either. There is some shallower parts, but most of it is pretty deep. They have life jackets available, free of charge. They also have a some other items available for sale like towels, floaties, water proof phone cases, shirts and hats, a vending machine with drinks. Also, you have to have a reservation before you get in!! You pay online! There are some rope swings as well and ladders at multiple points to assist you getting out. I rank this place 10/10! Will definitely visit again and again!

We had a great time swimming at Blue Hole in Wimberley. The water was the perfect temperature, and the rope swings were fun—lots of people helping each other retrieve the ropes. There were spots to jump in and at least one walk-in area. We did see a couple of snakes, but staff were calm and reassuring—just splash and they go away. The park is gorgeous, well-maintained, and you can bring your own chairs and coolers. Make sure to clean up after yourself. A glorious way to spend the day!

Beautiful place with an incredible swimming spot. There are also good hiking trails to follow. They're easy trails. 3 parking areas available around the park. You can only swim from May–end Sep. They close the natural pool from Oct to April because it's fish breeding season. There are changing rooms in the toilets closest to the pond, but I didn't see any lockers there. You need to make a reservation to swim. $12 for all non-locals.

Absolutely beautiful park and very clean! Love that they only take reservation so it doesn't get too crowded. Water is crisp and cool

Relaxing with the family in the shade of the huge cedar trees was so special. It was very hot and the river water was a welcome relief. The Park limits the number of people attending at any given time which allows families to enjoy themselves without feeling crowded and there is plenty of space in the water for teens and oldies to just be themselves (young and boisterous or older and more chilled 😉). Many thanks to the considerate person who handed in our car keys (which we didn't even know we had lost) and to the staff for their diligence in ensuring that we got them back.

My family camped out this last weekend at the Creekside Campout at Blue Hole and we had a wonderful time. We have a four year old and five year old so this easy and closely located campout is a great introduction for them. They loved the night hike and stargazing as well as the little lesson about pelts and skulls. In the morning, we were pleasantly surprised by pastries and hot coffee, which was much needed after the cold 40 degree night! I’d highly recommend this experience for young families!
