Someone had recommended Carambola Restaurant in the Blue Horizon hotel describing the food as wonderful and the grounds beautiful with the opportunity for star gazing. We made reservations for dinner weeks in advance and were looking forward to the experience. The person at the front desk had us sit in the lobby to wait for our table (which was fine, the lobby is beautiful). A few minutes later the server yelled from the restaurant for us to come sit. Then she preceded to rush us through dinner even though we told her we wanted to space out our courses b/c we were on vacation and wanted to really enjoy the whole experience. The food was ok, not outstanding. We were brought our check, asked to pay and then told we could sit in the lobby to finish our drinks. Aside from this, the restaurant and grounds were beautiful, we loved the open air concept of the hotel.

First boutique hotel I've stayed at and loved it!! Quiet on the south side of the island away from everything. All you can hear is the ocean and breeze coming through. Love the wild free-range horses cats hens and iguanas. The infinity pool is beautiful. The lobby lounge and dining is all open air and beautiful. Access to the beach is steep, loose rock and sand and not good for anyone elderly, bad knees or handicapped would be nice to add a few stepping stones or wooden stairs. Bedrooms were beautiful with only door is your sliding glass. There's no TV and I'm happy with it so you can enjoy nature! Pillows were thin and hard. Dining was slow service but polite and all food and cocktails tried were delicious 😋 can't wait to visit again.

Google
Such a beautiful property with an incredible infinity pool. Quiet, clean, and peaceful room accommodations. Easy access to the beach which was essentially empty when we visited. Counting down the days until we can come back! 100% worth it!

Simple but nice rooms/cabins. Only thing I didn't like much, is the lack of privacy when taking a shower in room 108, it has a big glass window and if you are taller than 5'-5" the people walking by will see you taking a shower.

Just spent a great evening at Carambola. Arrived 5pm and were promptly seated in a prime spot with amazing view of the ocean. Had a delicious Pina colada and my date had Guava cocktail - both terrific. Had the coconut shrimp, house salad, grouper filet and mahi mahi. All were delicious and service was pleasant and seamless. We would definitely come back!

Blue Horizon was perfect for our relaxing get away. The property over looks the Caribbean Sea and the views were spectacular. The rooms were quiet and the seating on the deck was great. They have a great bar area to enjoy a cocktail. We ate at the restaurant and dinner was very good.

This is our second time at the Blue Horizon & it was just as good as the first time. We stayed in a lovely room with AC that was easy to adjust & the only noise you hear at night are the horses neighing. | We had breakfast & dessert at the restaurant. The coffee is good & the food fine but remember you are on Island Time. | David of the front desk is very helpful & very easy to chat with. If you have questions about things to do on the island he would be a good resource. | The setting is so pretty & serene overlooking the water. The pool is just my favorite & the perfect temperature.

Google
The location and views here are pretty spectacular! We spent two nights and were so happy with the relaxing vibe and comfortable stay. Food at the restaurant was also great! They do get busy with non-guests so you do need to make reservations for dinner. At low tide you can walk on the beach to town and to the Black Sand Beach. Tennis shoes needed for that walk as you do have to go around and over some rocks - beautiful walk both directions. We even saw a herd of horses on the beach one afternoon. I definitely recommend this resort and would stay here again.

Yelp
This is a hidden Gem! It's truly Paradise! We ate every meal in the fantastic restaurant! The girls who waited on us were Incredible to say the least! The food was freaking delicious & fresh! David was amazing we just adored him!! The pool, the wild horses, birds & the Ocean Views are to die for! I hope this stays CHILL! And everyone doesn't discover this enchanted place! I say that bc I'm selfish!

Yelp
Dinner in Vieques. We stayed next door at Hacienda Tamarindo but they only serve breakfast. We had the best time watching the chickens fly to their roosts to sleep right at sunset and they told us it happens everyday! They just line up and follow suit. No fresh caught fish here or anywhere that I encountered-- lots of fried food!! We sat at the bar and Our server was so nice and friendly!

Yelp
This place is the definition of tourist trap. The long and short of it is DO NOT stay here. If you want reasons why, keep reading. My friend and I checked in early because we were only staying one night in Vieques and wanted to make the most of our time on the island. When we arrived at Blue Horizon, we were met abruptly in the parking lot by a woman, who did not introduce herself, but just asked if we were guests of the hotel. After we told her yes, she said she would be back in a few minutes and left in her car. Turns out, she worked at the front desk and did not return for over an hour. We asked one of the bartenders where we could store our luggage, while we left to explore and he he just placed them against the wall. It was not secured in a room or anything. When we asked for early check in, we were told that no rooms were ready. Later to find out that the "resort" was only half booked because it was their "slow season." When we asked for the beach chairs and beach towels to go to the beach, we were told that we could not have the beach chairs until check in because other guests were using them and that housekeeping would bring us beach towels. We were told to go sit in the chairs on the "beach" on property. However, it was high tide that morning, so there no sand to even sit on and it was all rocks. We waited in the lobby for over an hour for beach towels losing precious beach time that we had planned on other parts of the island. The fact that this place is advertised as a boutique resort is the definition of false advertising. There is nothing boutique or even resort-like about this place. The rooms are small, dim, and hot. The decor is mediocre and everything including the fixtures in the bathroom are outdated. The bathroom was full of mosquitoes because there was a window in our bathroom that would not close. This place could use a major glow up for sure. If you can't tell from this review already, the worst part about this place was the lack of customer service. There were only like 5 staff members there and none of them were working. They were all lounging on the couches talking to each other and if you asked them for help they would act like it was an inconvenience. The only nice thing about this place was the view and the pool, but honestly, even that is not worth $350 a night. The pool chairs and cabanas did not even have cushions on them! When we talked to several locals on the island, no one had anything good or nice to say about this place. That spoke volumes to us about how unwelcoming this place really is. Do yourself a favor and book any other hotel on the island. You will save a lot of money, probably get early check in, have access to beach chairs and towels, and have a bathroom that is not a breeding ground for mosquitoes.

Yelp
Wife and I really enjoyed our stay here. Ate Brunch twice. Eric the bartender was super cool. Friendly. Ladies at front desk were nice. Both named Alba. Here's a pic of lobby. A few things to know. 1. Breakfast/brunch menu is limited. 2. No TV in the rooms. 3. Wifi is okay. A bit spotty 4. Not much snorkeling on resort even tho it's by the beach 5. No free water on campus. 6. "Ice machine" is just the front desk. Ask for ice. 7. They don't automatically replace towels. Have to ask. 8. Views and sunset are stunning Overall, good value and great resort.

Yelp
Dreamy piece of paradise! Incredible views. Lovely rooms. No crowds. Excellent service. Food was top notch. Cried real tears as I was leaving.

Yelp
Update: we've asked them to refund something that we were accidentally charged for - it's been about 7 days without a response. So sad that this is such a beautiful space - I have to give it one because they charge you willy-nilly for things.

Yelp
This beautiful, quaint, adult only resort is a very rare piece of paradise! Victor and his crew go above and beyond! The food: absolutely delicious. The service: outstandingly kind and professional. The rooms are beautifully equipped with everything one needs: a cozy & comfortable humongous bed, a couch, shower and beach towel. The Infinite pool right along the coast is a gorgeous getaway, if you choose to not be in one of the most breathtaking beaches. Horses all around us was magical along with the never ending sea breeze. COME! Visit! You'll not want to leave! It's that beautiful and yet homey. Thank you Victor, Johnjimmy, Ketsha, Lulu, Tatiana & team. You make a great team amd your passion for this place shows! Deep gratitude.

Yelp

Yelp
I kicked off what has been one of the most amazing times yet in my life here 11/8/2021 - excellent service , the staff was extremely friendly and we were able to bring our puppies. They allowed a pet service to come walk our dogs while we were out on a cope long excusrsions. If you want to goto bed and wake up in paradise , that's a good spot

Yelp
If I could give them a zero I would. We booked this hotel on January 1st and on January 4th found out my sister needed treatment for lung cancer. I understand their "charge in full policy" but aren't there extenuating circumstances????!!!! I wouldn't book here if I were you!

Yelp
This review is for the restaurant only. We arrived to the front desk and no one was there. So we walked around a little and found the hostess/front desk attendant/waitress at the restaurant. She sat us at a table and took our drink and appetizer orders. The wait was rather long for the drinks and appetizers, but then again she was the only one working. It was good to know that there was a cook there with her otherwise she probably would've been really busy. There was only one other party there while we were there. The first drinks we ordered, mango passion and loaded piña colada, were tasty; however, they were not loaded with anything but sugar and tropical flavors. The waitress then brought us our appetizers which we enjoyed. We practically licked the plates clean. Then our Mofongo's were brought out. I had the chicken and my husband had the shrimp Mofongo. The shrimp Mofongo arrived in a garlic sauce while mine arrived in the traditional Puerto Rican sauce that comes along with it. We were not offered dessert and nor did I see a dessert menu. We enjoyed the view as we ate and my husband got up and walked around down to the beach. The property had many wild roaming horses which were practically close enough to touch. I suggest if you have time to wait and you're in no rush - this is a perfect place to go. You will enjoy the views.

Yelp
If I could give zero stars I would LOL. The service here is non existent. Bartenders are creeps, super uncomfortable vibe around the whole place. Don't get me wrong, the place is stunning, but every place here is. Its the service that sets them apart, they are on the bottom. Much nicer "resorts" on the island. Bottom line: place sucks

Yelp
I was fraudulently charged almost $700 by this hotel and it's been over a year with no resolve. The charge appeared on my card in June 2021, when my reservation was for July/August 2021. I attempted to resolve the issue with the hotel directly, including during my stay. Nothing has been done. AAA travel has also spent almost a year attempting to help, as the booking was through them. They haven't been able to get in touch with anyone at the property for over 6 months. November 2021- AAA did speak to the manager (at the time) and they had said the money would be refunded. When it was followed up on, a new manager had taken over and they said they would follow up with AAA. That was the last contact had with the property. I also reached out to my bank to help, but it had fallen outside of the 60 day window to resolve a charge. As beautiful as the property is, it's hard to get past a fraudulent $700 charge, on top of an already expensive reservation.

Yelp
Awful service and rude! We waited for over an hour for our breakfast and the server kept telling us it was coming. We watched people who had ordered after us eat and leave. When we asked what was going on for the third time, the manager was extremely rude. We ended up leaving without eating after the manager was disrespectful to us. Went to Bananas and service and food were great!

Yelp
This restaurant was dreamy and one of our favorites on the island. The views of the sea are stunning. The music is romantic international jazz. The servers are so friendly, especially Rosa who walked us through the menu and recommended all the best plates. Rosa picked out one of the best drinks I've had (ever, not just on the island) which was the strawberry champagne mojito. We only have photos of the cheesecake cause we were too busy enjoying the food to stop and photograph it but we enjoyed the ceviche, the mahi mahi, and the campasino steak. Google maps might mislead you down a street parallel to the one The Blue is on, but it's right off 997 and you can't miss the big sign! Absolutely gorgeous. Tempted to stay at the resort next time to enjoy the whole thing but apparently they offer day passes too. Thanks, Rosa & company!

Yelp
Very secluded. Right on the water. Staff is polite. Not far from black sand beach. The horses and chickens that roam the grounds are nice.
google avatar

Christina C.

Yelp
I'm reviewing the restaurant. We did not stay at the property. It is gorgeous. The restaurant overlooks the infinity pool, the ocean and the grazing horses. Our server Rosa was gracious, fun and conscientious. My husband had the cevici and said it was "the best on the island". Red Snapper and Grilled shrimp followed. Both awesome. Heading back tonight for another wonderful evening. Can't go wrong!!! Ask to go up to the observation deck for a spectacular sunset view.

Yelp
I booked hotel for one night getaway after we relocated to fajardo. After booking I realized the ferry is not available for non residents anymore so I contacted the hotel to cancel. A hard no with no sorry not sorry or anything. Honestly I love to support local businesses but this hotel's attitude made me really disappointed and disgusted. If they can simply gave me a call back saying it's their policy and they felt sorry I'll let it pass and they can keep the money, after all it's only $200. Called 10+ times no reply with this number they provided (787) 741-3318 on their website. Also they reported my first review addressing the issue because "The guest never stayed there" So I took a charter plane to visit them yesterday just I can write this review and it's even more disappointed to see a small room with a strong odor possibly from smoking or mold(room Josephina). The property is nice but a 7mins drive to the main area with food and drinks. Horse poops everywhere on the grass mind your steps! The girl in the front desk was nice enough to chat but the poor management really doesn't deserve any stars. I feel bad for people work there too I highly doubt they will be treated better. It's purely sad just to see a nice area with bad energy. Be my guest and deal with them you will see yourself!

Yelp
They call me 2 day before my arrive to let me know the only way to get to the island was by plane, I try to book a plane but was not available date because was short notice so when o try to cancel my reservation they was no able to help me and they charge me the full about of my reservation they should put this on they website for people to know about the ferry is not working for Turistas because for COVID 19 and only way to get the island is by plane

Yelp
Amazing view! Great beach to walk around and explore. Lots of coral and sea critters washing up around here. We saw see urchins, hermit crabs, egg sacks of fish. Wild horses. And various fruit trees all around the property! Coconut, plantain, sea grapes, star fruit ... Quaint and cute little boutique. Not the best room but it's nice. Food: We had breakfast here and the huevos rancheros were great. A ton of locals said they loved eating here even a bartender at the local bar. Pretty sure this is the go to date place for many locals. Pina coladas were very good as well. The staff was friendly as well. ****Bathroom could use a thorough wipe down as the dust does seem to collect when it is off season.

Yelp
My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights. We had no problems. The front desk people were very nice. We chose the "best available" option when booking, scored and got the honeymoon room. The restaurant on the property was great. Outside but covered, but we still stayed cool. We had 3 mornings there and got the cappuccino every time. Their Caribbean French toast and juevos rancheros were soo delicious. This place is very relaxing and quiet, a great pool and it sits upon a beach front property with access to the beach Great access to town, only about 5 min drive away. We would definitely stay here again!

Yelp
What a magical dream vacation. The wild horses, amazing staff and pure beauty of Vieques. I could live here! Beautiful people, welcoming and warm. Memories to cherish forever. Thanks so much Janna and John Mazza.

Dewesh A.

Yelp
The worst restaurant experience I have ever had! After waiting 45 mins for our appetizers (with hungry kids) and then asking twice about where our food was, after another 15 mins they told us that there was a "mix up" in the kitchen. No apology. No gesture to expedite our meals. After serving all other tables around us who were seated after us, we again asked about our meal. No attempt made to prioritize our entrees which finally arrived 2 hours after we arrived. And to top it off, the food was mediocre at best. When we asked for the manager, they stated there wasn't one -- clearly why they didn't care about the HORRIBLE service. Don't ever come here!!!

Yelp
This is one place you must stay at everyone there was very nice and helpful three thumbs up for Jasmine she was awesome and also Hector anything we needed or asked for they did or got us an answer for beautiful resort tennis pool beach Bar and restaurant they also help you with any rental or any activity she want to do if you need a car they can do it if you want to go horseback riding they can do it anything just ask

Danielle D.

Yelp
This place is insanely amazing. As soon as I got here, all the negative reviews seemed petty. Anyone who complains about this gem of a resort should leave and never come back because it takes an especially negative person to complain about a spot like this.

Yelp
The view is absolutely breathtaking. Being a guest at the blue horizon was the highlight of our vacation. We had experienced two other hotels in Puerto Rico and this was by far the most relaxing and comfortable accommodation. The infinity pool, restaurant service, friendly staff, views from the restaurant, beach access, bar and location all were outstanding. It's Close to the bio bay, beaches and dining. I would recommend renting a jeep for a day to explore the whole island and various beaches, very affordable and includes perks! You will not be disappointed, this hotel has it all!
google avatar

Jon W.

Yelp
RENT RENT RENT from this Jeep property!!! "YAYA" the front desk point of contact was absolutely superb!!! A group of four of us decided to spend a semi-planned half day in Vieques for a night Bio Luminescent tour, not realizing that it would have us there overnight due to the scheduling of the Ferry back to San Juan. Walking up to the Jeep property, YAYA immediately greeted us and sprang into action! She listened to our needs and swiftly took the initiative to guide us through the day on a very helpful map, circled the places we should go, then proceeded without us asking to call us an affordable BioBay tour guide. ("DIN DIN" tours which we would also highly recommend.) We were blown away by her kindness, initiative, and efficiency!!!! Still not having a place to stay, 'THIS ANGEL' then proceeded to pull some strings to get us a super affordable quick room for the night right above the rental property that only had two rooms left! So let's recap...a group of four with no plans, only 5 min off the boat (rental place is 2 min walk from Ferry dock) with NO RIDE, NO TOUR booked, NO HOTEL, NO CLUE, and NO INGLES', had all these things within 20 minutes of us arriving on the island! We quickly inspected The Wave Hotel (Also Awesome) and Jeep and were off to one of the greatest adventures we ever had! Easily the best beaches (Blue Beach had best waves) we've traveled to. Muchas Gracias, YAYA and staff! (The big guy spraying the concrete who washed my feet) You were absolutely amazing! Fantastico'! Excelente'! YAYA a living Angel! God Bless You. Thank you BLUE HORIZON for your services and hiring this AMBASSADOR of the island!

Yelp
There is much good to be said about this unpretentious but overpriced hotel. The grounds are very well maintained and open, and the simple rooms are clean and comfortable. We did not try the restaurant, but the large round bar is attractive, friendly, and too quiet. The pool was very clean and warm with deck chairs by the pool and by the coastal rocks. There is no beach, but the view with some gigantic rocks is very dramatic. Having said that . . . during your registration you will be read the riot act which includes a warning that you will be charged $150 if you lose the (ordinary) room key and $200 if you dare to smoke in the room. You must sign this warning on the dotted line to get your key. IMHO you should not greet your guests with such an infantile and excessive threat even if said with a smile. This disrespect took it down several notches for me and is not a place I can recommend.

Yelp
What a pleasant surprise! This resort is BEAUTIFUL to say the least! Not having been on this island, I had to use yelp to guide me on choosing a place to stay. Hands down smartest decision was choosing the Blue Horizon. Upon arrival you instantly feel like you are in tropical paradise. The property is just breath taking. The views are magnificent and at night the way the hotel's colored lights hits the landscape, makes u feel like you have walked into a magical rain forest. We stayed in the Esperanza villa. Queen size ocean view room. It was cute and cozy and yes it had air conditioning, thank god! The room was a beach style bungalow With tile floor. The bed was comfy but some of the bathroom amenities were old and could be updated. All in all we had an amazing experience here Needless to say I will return to this resort and tell all of my friends that they MUST stay here as well. This place is underrated for sure. P.S. Bring your big spray!

Yelp
This inn was all that we could ask for. It offers sweeping views of the tranquil carribean and access to a private, secluded beachfront where you can dip your toes and spend time communing with the sea. What I liked the most about this unpretentious yet refined inn is that it does not get in the way of relaxing and letting go; it is quiet, spacious, private and highlights nature in it's design style. Very well done! We found the service warm, welcoming, gracious and supportive. Any wish we had was tended to with thoughtfulness ( muchas gracias to Adam, a real asset to the staff) I loved the bar and the food was fine. Our room was comfortable, the beds were great and since there are only 10 rooms on the property there was abundant privacy and quiet. We also were able to rent a car directly from this inn which made things very easy. I can't wait to return!

Yelp
We stayed for one night and there were ups and downs. Pros: - the location is gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous - the room was fine, a little rough around the edges but acceptable - the infinity pool is phenomenal (and has beautiful starry lights at night) - the beach is outstanding and feels very private Cons: - we waited three hours for our room after being told the wait would only be one hour (they gave us a free drink for the wait, but I wish they had instead been more up front about how long the wait was going to be) - Janette was perhaps the hardest working person we saw on Vieques, but she couldn't control how late and unreliable the cabs were - we almost missed our flight because of this Overall, I'm doubtful that id return.

Yelp
I almost didn't write this review just to keep this gem a secret. It was the perfect oasis for our trip to Puerto Rico and Vieques! This is how checking in to this Inn feels like. Imagine driving through a rural winding road, with the fresh breeze and the sound of the ocean waves hitting the shore. Then you pull up to an unmarked alley that leads to a sprawling hacienda, with horses freely strutting around. You park your SUV in an unpaved lot, then walk on stone steps to the simple, no-frills reception area, where you are greeted by a young Puerto Rican with a friendly smile on his face. He is, of course, both the receptionist and bellman, and helps you carry your bags to your room, which is furnished just as simply with wood furniture and panels. The bellman now becomes a concierge and gives us recommendations on scenic areas and restaurants, one of which of course is their own courtyard restaurant with an amazing view of the ocean. He then tours us around the premises, which has a very cozy lounge area that opens into the infinity pool overlooking the cliff and the ocean. And every day after that was just pure bliss. We are a young family with two kids, so our days were packed with an itinerary that included heading to a new beach, setting up shop, lazing around, grabbing local grub, then heading back to this idyllic paradise. This hotel is not your modern spa getaway -- if that's what your looking for, go to the W hotel on the other side of the island and be ready to spend twice as much. The Inn on the Blue Horizon has a quaint, homey feel, where you feel like you own a hacienda in the middle of nowhere, with a gorgeous pool and amenities that you share with only a select people who all feel lucky to have found this gem.

Yelp
Really a special place - skip the big resorts and come to the Blue Horizon! Beautiful rooms, so comfortable, wild horses roam the property, grounds are gorgeous. Walk to Esperanza. Food is pretty good, open bar and open everything. It's just a slower pace of life that you will really enjoy.

Andreas N.

Yelp
We stayed one night at the Blue Horizon in April 2017. Here's the story: The hotel grounds are absolutely gorgeous. The pool is beautiful and the restaurant overlooks the sea and a nearby island. There are horses roaming the grounds casually wandering around, and you are free to walk up to them. There's also a little terrace on top of the restaurant, where you can get an amazing view of the green grounds and beautiful garden. The bar is small, but well-equipped and arriving late in the afternoon, we did get good service by the bartender there. However, while the grounds are quite something, the main building seems very worn down. There were so bathrooms in the back where water was leaking out on the floor of the hallway. Our room , while with working AC, had a lot of dust/dirt on the mosquito/bug-screens. We believe the screens were doing their job though, which made it all-the-while more surprising to 1) Find two giant moth on the back of my pillow at night and 2) wake up the next day and notice some suspicious-looking bug bites on my arm, specifically four groupings of three bites in each. I had noticed a few reviews mentioning concerns about such thing, but the hotel's online response was that no other guests had mentioned anything. This is me mentioning it, as I did to the receptionist right before we left. I have to admit, it's possible we got these the night before and that the groupings are coincidental and were simply regular mosquito bites, but that's not really the worst part I feel: The two young gentleman in the reception did not seem very surprised, or even interested in the problem(!), and did not seem disturbed at all at the potential news that they had a bug-infestation(!) (Again, it could just be mosquito bites, but when a client mentions something like this I would expect the staff to be worried and ask questions, not be casual!), so we left it at that. After all, most everything else had been nice. Another peeve, was the bad service we had in the morning. The waitress was not very friendly or service minded on more than one occasion. Although she did her job, it felt a lot like we were inconveniencing her. At the cost of the room and the food/beverages, which was not cheap, we would have expected a more professional and forthcoming attitude. (For example, when asking for coffee in the morning, a response such as "Yes of course you can have some coffee, would you like me to bring it to your room?", or at least serve the coffee in a nice, regular mug/coffee cup with a saucer and a napkin, not in a carton cup(?!)). Generally. the morning staff at the restaurant and bar did not seem very service minded - sitting around and chatting in the bar area most of the time I walked by. Receptionist staff was helpful in providing towels, giving a tour of the hotel, and even driving me into the city one time on their way home. I would probably have left a 5-star rating, had it not been for 1) bad restaurant/morning service, 2) a leak in the hall-way around the bathrooms and 3) the unsurprised, and unconcerned attitude towards me mentioning possible bug-bites to the reception. It seems that Blue Horizon Resort has a beautiful pearl of a hotel, but maybe are getting a little lazy - resting on their laurels a bit. Hopefully they will see to these issues. Extra note: I also noticed on another site, after writing this review the first time. that when the hotel responds to reviews, they typically are dismissive and don't take any responsibility for anything wrong. Basically, "the guests got it wrong" seems to be their motto, not "The customer is always right". I expect any feedback on this review from the Resort to staunchly deny bugs of any kind and that I was not clear enough, furthermore they will likely tell me that they do not have room service, so an offer to bring coffee to the room should never be expected (Any hotel school would tell you differently. The morning staff was just sort of sitting around, apparently not working.), and that leaks can occur at any time, but they always take care of it... (It was there for two days and no one even took a mop to it...). Please, to the BH management, respect your customers, or some day they will stop showing up.

Such a great small little boutique resort. The pool was amazing, especially at night! Loved that it is open 24 hours. And during the day, I was enjoying the pool looking out at the amazing beach and there are wild horses eating the grass in front of me. This place is truly a paradise. Our room was perfect and the service from everyone was great. The arranged for us to rent a jeep and recommended places to go. They were so friendly, every time we walked by they were always asking if we needed anything. I felt so spoiled. I didn't want to leave, we have already planned our trip back next year.

Yelp
This quiet inn is located on a small cliff overlooking the ocean. There are 10 rooms, four in the main building and six in smaller casitas around the property. There is one room with a king bed; the rest are queen size. The rooms are furnished with antiques and have tile floors. There is a large covered patio with comfortable furniture, a beautiful bar that doesn't get enough business from the surrounding area, and a pretty good restaurant. The infinity pool overlooking the ocean is the best hotel pool I've encountered and is never crowded. There is a fitness center and tennis courts, but in several visits I have never used them. I can use the gym at home; I don't need to fly to the Caribbean for that. The staff is friendly and helpful, if sometimes a bit hard to find. They have a very reasonably priced laundry service, which cuts the number of t- shirts you need to pack for the puddle jumper over from San Juan. Some minor issues with room and building maintenance and spotty availability of hot water keep this from being five stars, but it is a wonderfully relaxing place to visit.

Yelp
If you're looking for a place to enjoy a meal while sitting by the pool, taking in the views of the ocean while watching wild horses roam the property...this is the place for you! We came here with friends and had a wonderful time. What a gem!

Yelp
Blue Horizon is amazing. There are so many small details that are truly incredible. The beds are comfortable. The cottages are quiet and spacious. The pool looks out over the ocean. The staff was very attentive to the guest's needs. The food is fabulous. This is a place we're you can relax and escape the chaos of life. Blue Horizon is incredible. The views are breathtaking. Guest feel pampered in luxury.

Yelp
Beautiful location overlooking the Caribbean Sea. Infinity pool with views Callo Afuera. Fantastic service (whatever detergent they use for their beach towels is INTOXICATING). The staff was absolutely fantastic and helpful. Will definitely come back!

Yelp
My husband and I spent the majority of our honeymoon at this Resort. It was perfect. The infinity pool overlooking the ocean was lovely, especially at night. The rooms were nice and clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful, they even did laundry for us when we asked! We also rented a jeep from the resort for a few days which was very convenient. I wouldn't recommend eating at the resort restaurant because it seemed overpriced especially with Esperanza so close by, go into town and eat there! We walked to town 4 of the 6 days we were here and it was a decent walk but was very enjoyable with all the wild horses and beautiful jungle to look at. Loved staying here, will be back.

Yelp
I'm definitely coming back!! The Blue Horizon is a tropical paradise. The ocean view is absolutely stunning. The infinity pool overlooking the beach is a centerpiece. At night, the pool shines with underwater lights. The property has beautiful palm trees. And when I woke up in the morning, I walked 40 seconds to a beach that felt private. I loved it! If you've ever wanted to experience paradise, you should visit the Blue Horizon.

Yelp
We stayed here our first night and loved it! The staff was more then helpful. Rooms were clean & well kept. The best part is the pool. At night it overlooks the vast sky. We were in heaven.

Yelp
We booked a trip to Puerto Rico through Expedia. We had to cancel a week and half before our trip due to a family emergency. We spent over $1,000.00 for a four night stay at the Inn on the Blue Horizon. We were told by the hotel that since we did not cancel 30 days in advance that we would lose the value of three nights stay. Apparently, Expedia is keeping the rest because our refund is $0.00. We understand that this was a last minute cancellation. We asked if the hotel was willing to offer a credit to us. They flatly refused but did say that if we ever wanted to stay there that we could, at full cost. I think not. We will be going to Puerto Rico in September or October and we will be staying on the island of Vieques but not at the Inn on the Blue Horizon. They could have had a good customer had they been willing to work with us.

Yelp
The Blue Horizon Resort Hotel has the ingredients to be a five star choice. Beautiful property, location and pool. However, the total lack of professional management and customer care made the Blue Horizon an enormous disappointment. At first, I passed off minor problems as attributable to business on a remote island - such as the room's hairdryer blowing the fuse each time it is turned on. But there were too many problems to excuse. We had to ask twice to get a bar of soap for the shower. We asked twice for the hand soap and lotion to be refilled. There is no TV in the bungalow, which I thought was pretty cool, but there was also no Internet connectivity. Most people who spend $400 per night on a hotel are fairly dependent upon the Internet. At times there was no hot water in the bungalow (like when I wanted to shave). At other times, there was no water pressure (like when my wife wanted to take a shower). We found a previous guest's phone charger and designer sunglasses on the floor in the room - an indication that the room is not cleaned, or these things would have been found before I found them. We had a fine breakfast here, but cancelled our dinner after waiting over one hour for salad and pasta - which never came. Seriously, over an hour for a salad and pasta to show up? And this was with a dinner reservation. There are no "little things" that you expect at a top-tier resort. For example, at El Convento in San Juan, there was complimentary drinking water, coffee service, wine and cheese happy hour, fruit - little things that made you feel good. At Blue Horizon, at $400 per night, there was nothing - nothing. And there was not even a refrigerator in the bungalow in which to keep my own water or drinks chilled. The last day, they did not even replace the little coffee packet in our room. All of this resulted in our spending as little time as possible at the resort. By the time we left, after four nights, we were uncomfortable interfacing with the staff at all. The staff, while initially friendly, all seem to be local kids. I do not believe that they have a concept of reasonable expectations at a top-tier resort. This was compounded by the apparent lack of a professional resort manger. A terrible disappointment from what could be a spectacular resort. I cannot believe that the owner of this high-potential property has not seen fit to engage the services of a professional hotelier to make it actually work.

Yelp
Beautiful scenery, hotel and rooms. The pool was very clean as were the grounds and rooms. However, at $325 a night, there should be some amenities included. The fitness center is $10 to use for one hour, and the tennis courts are $25. It's not mentioned on the website. Ok, not a huge deal, but somewhat annoying since we wanted to get exercise every day. If you want to eat healthy, you can order the $12 fruit and yogurt for breakfast. Otherwise, bring snacks because the store across the street mainly stocks alcohol, candy and fried snacks.

Yelp
The Blue Horizon is not a bad place to stay. The grounds are very well kept, and the restaurant is a great place to have breakfast (great coffee, try it with milk) and look out at the ocean. The pool is a great spot for a night swim. The room we stayed in could have been cleaner, though, and the toilet ran constantly so we had to operate the shutoff valve to sleep at night. The maid service was definitely lacking - we didn't get clean towels and the sheets weren't changed. Also, it seems like the restaurant and bar used to be busy but may have been eclipsed by newer businesses in Esperanza, and so they're kind of like the twilight zone in the evening. They had to shut the bar down at 9 one night because it was costing them too much to keep it open. Hopefully things turn around, it's a nice property.

Yelp
Never go to this terrible place. I cancelled my booking 15 days before the actual visit date and they refuse to refund my money, not even a penny! Awful hotel!!!

Yelp
What a great pool... Really a perfect place to stay. Loved the room. This fits the definition of "a tropical paradise". Friendly people, great views, good food, and wonderful drinks. By the way..use mosquito repellent on your legs and feet when on Vieques even if you "believe" or "feel" you do not need too...and renting a Jeep is the way to go...good times for sure.

Yelp
I was here 3 years ago and had breakfast (staying at the W). Just opened up the app here to see about hours etc, and was surprised the place wasn't listed as a restaurant. That said, the breakfast was excellent and very memorable as one of he better "island breakfasts" I've had anywhere so I'm going to head back over there tomorrow and see if it keeps its footing with me as 4-Star! Looking forward to it.
