Overall, we loved Blue Lagoon, staff were attentive and friendly, resort was clean and well looked after. We stayed in a Yurt with two teens. Yurt was roomy, although teens were in a smaller area, with a partial wall separating the main bedroom, main bed was very comfortable, beds in the other area were bunks, with a double on the bottom, single on the top. Not great quality and very squeaky when anyone moved, which was heard in the main bed too. Aircon worked well, bathroom was outdoors, private, and I loved it, but the kids found a lot of critters in the area and were put off. The Yurts were at the back of the resort, not near the beach, but steps away from one of the pools, and the Japanese restaurant, Donu. The chefs at Donu were outstanding, Sake was such a friendly loving chef, obviously loved his craft and engaging with guests, such an amazing experience ! Recommend this restaurant for lunch and also dinner. At lunch you can select 2 plates per diner, and dinner is always Omakase, a 10 course small plate experience, different each night. Best seats are at the counter, where you can watch the chefs and chat to them, and others at the counter next to you. Particularly good for solo travellers. Don’t need to book anywhere for breakfast or lunch, but need to book for dinner. The beachfront restaurant is the only place for breakfast, and it’s partly a la carte with good options, and partly buffet, includes barista coffees. Lunch at the beachfront has a good variety of options, stays the same. Dinner here changes every two days, and includes 5 courses, four options of entrees and mains. |Kids menu is different and served 5:30-6, seemed good. Our teens sometimes went for the kids food, even though it was supposed to be kids 5-12 years old. The dinner meals weren’t appealing to teens we found, and if you have picky eaters, could try the kids meals for dinner.|Trips we did were Cave trip, highly recommended, great experience, need to be confident in deep water, tread water etc. visiting the second cave involves diving through a submerged tunnel. Market was on after we’d been in the cave, inflated tourist goods. Best to get on the first cave trip of the day to avoid other groups.|Snorkelling trip dropped us in at a really windy spot, didn’t see anything better than the house reef at the resort. |Village visit is a must do, Tam the guide was very informative and helpful e loved learning about the village. Performances were given, and a market afterwards.|Fishing trip was worthwhile, although not much fish caught.|Don’t rely on the booking system on the app, the bookings don’t seem to make it to the booking sheets at the dive shop.|Transport to the island was via South Sea Cruises, took around 5 hours, but was comfortable and air conditioned, could move around and be inthe air conditioned area or in the sun. On return we opted for the fast resort boat, which turned out to be around 3 hrs so not that fast, few stops along the way, and a change of boat at Paradise Resort (sister resort) the trip from Paradise to Vuda was awful. Definitely recommend not taking this option. Boat was flying over the waves at high speed and continual impacts and spray. Didn’t seem to take conditions into account, and kept flooring it the whole way. Everyone hated it and were really uncomfortable and nervous. If I had of known this was the case, would’ve take. The ‘slow’ boat back or a helicopter transfer.|Apart from this experience, we loved our week and the environment at Blue Lagoon, and would love to return. via helicopter 👍
