Our entire experience at this idyllic bed'n'breakfast was absolutely delightful. A very attentive staff, a diverse and tasty breakfast buffet, appetizers and wine in the afternoon, quiet and clean rooms with beautiful views of the ocean, minutes from several whale watching experiences and walking trails, and at least a half dozen excellent restaurants within a five to ten minute walk from the inn! A special shout out to Connor at the front desk who accommodated our every need. We definitely plan to return!

My family and I stayed at the Blue Lantern Inn to attend my aunt's sea burial in Dana Point. I was also the event coordinator for the event, and worked with the Blue Lantern Inn to secure a room block. The staff provided us with exceptional care leading up to and during our stay. We were especially touched by the thoughtfulness of their chef and breakfast staff, who prepared breakfast earlier than usual so we could reach the boat dock in time. That extra effort did not go unnoticed and meant so much to all of us. The rooms were spacious and beautifully maintained, and the ocean views were incredible - a lovely, calming backdrop that brought a bit of peace to a somber weekend. I highly recommend staying at the Blue Lantern Inn for its excellent staff, beautiful views, peaceful setting, and welcoming atmosphere.

This is a lovely property with a great location. We had room 305 with a terrace and good views of the ocean and marina. Many restaurants are within a very walkable distance in the Lantern District. The breakfasts were very nice each morning and there is a happy hour (actually 4-5:30 I think it was) with wines, cheeses and cookies.

Cozy like a Bed and Breakfast with the privacy of a boutique hotel. Calm and relaxed atmosphere. Very clean and a wonderful location! The view of the harbor was spectacular and we could see it all from our private balcony. Even though it was warm enough, we still had the fire going in the fireplace for ambience. Everyone we encountered at The Blue Lantern was so friendly! This was my fourth time to stay there.

I chose Blue Lantern Inn for my bachelorette weekend in Dana Point and it was absolutely dreamy! I had the pleasure of working with the Group & Special Events Coordinator, Carmen Hoffarth, who created our room block with special accommodations for my friends, which she did without hesitation when I asked (despite it causing more work for her on the back end). My party flew in from out-of-state and they were totally blown away by the views of the harbor, which were spectacular, and the quality of the breakfast and happy hours. The food was much better than you'd get at a typical hotel... homemade and hearty. We'd stay here again in a heartbeat. Thank you for a wonderful weekend!

Google
This hotel is fantastic. The rooms are quiet and very comfortable. The main road, Pacific Coast Hwy, can be busy but road noise was not an issue. The lobby was small but cozy and with many special touches. Breakfast each morning was high quality and different at least for the 3 days we were there. Views were great but not an easy walk if one wishes to go down to the harbor. We drove down one morning and had no trouble parking. Drinks and appetizers from 4 to 5:30 just another personal nice touch to a very special hotel and stay. We will stay here again.

This is one of my favorite places to stay! The location has stunning views of the harbor, and it's in walking distance for great restaurants. We enjoyed taking the trolley to the beach and back. Blue Lantern Inn is charming!

Yelp
I am usually not an inn or Bed and Breakfast type girlie but was impressed by Blue Lantern Inn and would definitely stay again. The location was perfect and there were many restaurants and activities within walking distance. As soon as we checked in, we were welcomed by the wine and cheese hour. It was an impressive spread of various cheese, some charcuterie meats and crackers. There were also cookies and espresso available. The room was spacious and comfortable. There was an elevator to take us to our second floor ocean view Pacific Edge Balcony room, but we opted for the beautiful giant staircase in the middle of the lobby each time. The views from our room were decent but ours had an obstructed view. Loved the big window by the bathtub and all the natural lighting. We felt safe and secure with monitored parking and an innkeeper at night. There was also a great continental breakfast the next morning with both hot and cold breakfast items. We stayed only 1 night but would definitely return.

Yelp
There are no words to describe how wonderful this quaint little gem is!! My husband and I stayed a couple of nights to celebrate my birthday. I originally had plans to get out and about to explore but I have to say we loved our room so much we stayed in bed for about 80% of our stay. It was early November and the weather was perfect! I was able to sunbathe on the balcony and yet still enjoy the fire place at night. The view was breath taking! The daily breakfast to the room was perfect! It's in the heart of all the restaurants and local shops. I HIGHLY recommend this place! It's been over a month now and it's all my husband still talk about! Now it is on the pricey side but so worth it!

Yelp
This hotel had a home-feel to it, which is great. You also can't beat free parking in Dana Point. The view from the hotel was amazing and hotel is near tons of restaurants and baby beach. The complimentary breakfast is a nice touch. Only negative I have is the happy hour options. There should be beer available for the non-wine folks. And the cookies were good!
google avatar

Yelp
Nice place with beautiful views of Dana Point harbor. Room was decent sized with a fireplace, jacuzzi tub and nice patio. Breakfast was great and plentiful. Staff were all excellent. My issue with this place is that the hot water in the shower did not work. When I called the front desk to inquire about it, I was asked what room I was in and then to turn the hot water on in the jacuzzi, then the hot water in the shower would work. For a $600+ a night room, this should not be an issue.

Yelp
- The service was amazing - Great room - Comfy bed - Great views of the harbor - Complimentary bottle of wine on check in was such a lovely touch - Afternoon snacks and drinks are included - A great morning breakfast is included - tasty frittata - They had a little packet of bath soak lavender for the tub! - Flexible with check in and check out Will come back next time I'm in town!

Yelp
The wife and I needed a get away and we found this gem! The two classy ladies upfront took care of us as soon as we stepped in. They let us know they had homemade oatmeal cookies. Sold! The room had a nice ocean view with a gorgeous sunset. The room was quiet and clean from top to bottom. Great breakfast it was a feast! They had a beautiful entertainment room. Which was great for watching the Olympics. If you are in the area please plan a stay at the Blue Lantern Inn, A Four Sisters Inn!

Yelp
We recently stayed here as an early Valentine's Day getaway. The last time we were here was several years ago and we were pleased to see that the Blue Lantern Inn was well-maintained, with friendly, hard-working staff. Arriving a bit early, our room was not ready but we were invited to enjoy the wine and cheese hour. There was quite a spread set out, with four cheese heart-shaped ravioli, caprese salad, and desserts, in addition to the wine and cheese. We probably could have made a meal of it! Even though it was a bit chilly, we sat outside and enjoyed our happy hour. There are several nice restaurants within walking distance, so you can imbibe and not have to worry about driving to dinner. The room was lovely, with a nice comfortable bed and a large bathroom. Even though it was cold outside, our room was nice and warm and we didn't even need the heat. Woke up to the appetizing aroma of coffee and breakfast being made. The breakfast, which is included as well, had an egg dish, hash browns, bacon, fruit, muffins, bagels and more. You can enjoy your breakfast in their dining area or in your room. Highly recommend walking to the Dana Point Headlands for the views and to work off breakfast! Parking is free and there are bicycles available to borrow during your stay. Blue Lantern Inn is a good value for the money!

Yelp
Wonderful staff, great ambience, however the actual rooms are dated slightly in my opinion. I Jammed my toe because the floor was uneven in the bathroom entrance. They also lack a pool, but say kids love the bath that has Jett's. However, the Jetts in the room we were staying in only two worked. As I said, the staff was amazing and our visit was enjoyable. But for the price, the room itself was not worth it. Maybe we just got a bad room, but I'm not sure we would go back.

Yelp
My husband and I have stayed here twice now! The place is SO cute and the views were absolutely stunning. The staff was extremely friendly and hardworking. Also loved the breakfast (I had Eggs Benedict, hash browns, fruit, and an amazing parfait!). The rooms are cute, very clean, and we loved turning on the fireplace at night as we looked at the lights on the harbor. Hot water was a tiny bit slow to come on but we let it run for a few minutes and it was just fine after that. I would recommend Blue Lantern!

Yelp
I've always loved this place. It's a beautiful retreat overlooking the ocean. A great effort is made to keep things updated, although it's an older place with an older vibe. My room was clean. You can't beat the location. You can walk down to the water, you can walk around a little town or you can enjoy quiet time in their library or Public areas or out in their front patio. I have fond memories of the breakfast and afternoon tea. While the breakfast was on point, I thought the tea items, except for the cheese, seem to be made too far ahead of time, and were cold and a bit dried it out by the time they were served. I hope this place is around for many more years.

Rebecca C.

Yelp
Very charming and quiet off the beaten path. Had a beautiful ocean view. We were greeted with sparkling wine and delicious appetizers. Breakfast was wonderful. Gave it four stars because the couch in our room had a rip and we needed some service at night and the person behind the desk was rude and impatient.

Wallace F.

Yelp
This is the place for adults seeking a quiet place, exceptional views and impeccable service. This is our 17th year staying there, and we're approaching our 100th night later this summer. Breakfast included, although we always go to RJs at least 1 day. Lovely evenings with drinks watching the sunset on the Pacific.

Yelp
Wow!!! This place is amazing! Location, view from the rooms, cleanliness, warm and kind service, breakfast included, cheese and wine hour, tea and coffee and hot chocolate in the evening w fresh cookies. And there is Moulin Bakery only 1.1 mile away. We had 2 rooms and we had a great time staying here and having tea together in the evening. Everyone was super helpful and nice and patient. Thank you and We can't wait to come back ( I already reserved it again)

Yelp
Received text message earlier in the day stating we will receive text message when our room will be ready. Arrived exactly at 3 to check-in skeptical because no text message that our room was ready but it was. Check-in process was easy however being the first time we were confused on breakfast order. You are provided paper that says chef choice and yogurt or yogurt w/ granola. We found out the next morning you have options just write it on the paper. Wine and cheese at 4 you will receive a text except not on the 1st day of check-in. You are given a small plate w/ cheese wrapped because of covid. Wine and chesse platter was delicious. You will receive text the next morning asking if you need housekeeping. Customer service was good. Room is big and clean. Recommend this bed and breakfast.

Yelp
Our stay here was a real treat. We were really concerned with the Covid and being public places. The hotel did a real nice job limiting guests only on the property. All staff masked up and lots of sanitizer stations. Rooms were not made up on multiple day stays which I was ok with. The hot breakfast was served at your room instead of the dining area. We were good with that. Breakfast was a hot egg dish, fresh muffins, fruit, potatoes and bacon/sausage. Also yogurt and granola. Afternoons we were greeted with a wine, cheese, crackers, olives and fruit. Which you enjoy in your room or on our case the balcony! Real nice treat. The view of the harbor! The rooms were nicely set up. Super comfy bed. Large screen tv. Refrigerator but no microwave. Beautiful fireplace which we used each night. Balcony was very spacious and had two chairs and a table to enjoy the views. Over all this was a great choice. We enjoyed our stay, the precautions the hotel took for covid protection, the breakfast, afternoon wine and cheese. Courteous and professional staff!

Yelp
Ready to chill and relax along our beautiful Southern California Coast while enjoying spectacular ocean views from your very own private balcony? Then Blue Lantern Inn is the B&B for you! BLI has had to adjust their business to accommodate corona virus regulations. And they have done a good job of this. I felt very safe with the precautions they have taken. Only hotel guests allowed in. Rooms are not serviced daily to limit exposure to staff. Masks, disinfectants, social distancing. You still get a delicious breakfast, but not served in the lobby common area. Instead it's delivered to your room. Oh too bad, we had to have breakfast on our patio balcony over looking Dana Point Harbor. What a sacrifice we had to make! And instead of their wine and cheese happy hour, they pack up a little snack box of cheese and crackers, and canned wine. The snacks were good. Canned wine? Hmm, good thing we brought our own bottles of wine from home. You do have the option to upgrade to one of their premium wines. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. I made good use of the spa tub. We even turned on the fire place. Our room, #302, had great views. The third floor is a must. We enjoyed our walks every day. Walk along Santa Clara to the Bluff Top Trail, which leads you to Heritage Park and down to the Harbor. There is also the Hilltop Conservation Trail where I am sure you may see nice sunset views. While this is a very nice property, I think some simple cosmetic touch ups would go a long way to add to the wow factor. But overall, loved our stay here.

Yelp
This place is incredible! What an amazing place to stay! Everything was just perfect, the hospitality the rooms and what an awesome view of the ocean ! Just gorgeous, the wine tasting In lobby with the snacks was such an unexpected treat. In the morning they brought a wonderful breakfast to our room. Oh and don't forget the rooms! They were very nice, the beds were super comfy and the bathrooms were spacious are had everything you needed. Can't wait to visit again, but we are definitely staying longer! By far one of the nicest places my wife and I have ever visited and we travel a lot. You will not be disappointed at the lovely establishment.

Yelp
As always, this is such a wonderful place to stay. The views are incredible, the staff is beyond amazing and we absolutely love it here. Even though it's only 40 minutes from home we just love coming here when we run away for a weekend. Thank you. Blue lantern in for being so amazing. And to corporate? Please know that your Dana Point staff is made up of absolute superstars. Especially Leslie at the front desk. And a bonus is the darling little gray kitty that cruises the grounds and greets guests. Such a little sweetie.

Latte Queen W.

Yelp
Very good service, kind and helpful folks work here! Room was clean and spacious. I appreciated the delicious cookies they offered every day, especially the gluten free chocolate chip cookies. I don't normally eat gluten free but I may have to rethink this as these cookies were heavenly. The one major area of improvement I would love to see is in the breakfast service. The coffee is not very good and the breakfast is basically an elevated continental breakfast. I think more fruit options including berries would be a nice touch. The frittata was delicious but everything else sort of fell flat, and the coffee really wasn't good at all. Overall I would say this is a great place to stay in Dana Point.

Yelp
We had an exceptional experience. The place was serene and very beautiful. Our room was the tower room and it was lovely. We thoroughly enjoyed the cheese platter. We did The morning breakfast outside in our balcony and it was so pleasing . The only complain was the bed. The bed was really bad ! Please kindly fix it. We had a spelendid time overall. The jacuzzi in the room was an added bonus

Yelp
My husband and I had a nice getaway. Our first time at this hotel. The views very nice, staff friendly, very accommodating, daily breakfast amazing, fresh and hot to eat. They offer free parking which is plus, and we enjoyed the appetizers in the evening the spread was done very nice with a yummy selection. Everything was delicious. Our room was okay with a balcony view. The bed every comfortable. The water pressure in the bathroom not so good, takes a moment to get hot, but our entire stay was pleasant. The hotel is very quaint, walking distance to shops, we will definitely be back. Thank you staff for a nice stay. Great service!!

Yelp
Fantastic accommodations and loved the happy hour and daily breakfast! Staff was super kind and friendly :)

Yelp
The most BEAUTIFUL inn I have ever been to. My boyfriend and I had a wedding to go to in the area and I am so happy that I chose Blue Lantern for our 3 day stay. When we arrive we park in the parking lot (free and super easy) and walk into the lobby to be greeted by a very kind employee! He was so friendly and made sure we were happy with our room when we came back downstairs. Our room was the pacific edge room with balcony, and it was so beautiful! A very spacious nicely decorated room with a huge bathroom and balcony! The view was amazing and was of the ocean and marina!!!!! Updated bathrooms and decor make this so unique from other inns. I felt like I was in a classy hotel! One of my favorite parts was the fact that we could rent the cutest bikes for free! This was the most fun part of our trip. Really enjoyed riding them through the neighborhood! The breakfast every morning was from 8-10am and was very good! Eggs, hash browns, bacon, muffins, toast, jam, French toast, every day! They also had complimentary cheese and wine in the evening. It was just the most magical place! Super quiet and peaceful. Will definitely be coming back in the future!
google avatar

Yelp
Getting out of town isn't easy these days with Covid but this place hits the mark. I most loved the afternoon wine and cheese and cracker picnic basket they put together for you. It truly was a treat. The location was wonderful and the view is just incredible. Everyone on staff was great and pleasant to interact with. The breakfast was also a nice touch. An added bonus was the reasonable pricing they offered. I hope to return soon.

Yelp
Love, love, love the Blue Lantern Inn! Everything is just like the photos. I spent 3+ hours in the jet tub, enjoyed my wine/cheese picnic on the patio (I don't drink alcohol, so only cheese is photographed), and cozied up in my bed for some evening TV watching. It was also nice walking the lantern district because it was all decked out for Christmas. There are some great restaurants nearby (Gen Kai Sushi photographed), and you can pop down to the beach by car, bike (provided by Blue Lantern), or foot. I would, however, recommend asking for a room that is not on the ground floor - but then you only have access to a balcony and not the patio. My room (104) was the first room off the lobby and I could hear the lobby noise very clearly. I would expect the rooms higher up would not have this issue, as my neighbors had a dog with them and I only heard it when I was out on the patio.

Yolanda H.

Yelp
We stayed there one night and 2 nights at an Airbnb. We definitely liked staying at the hotel better. The rooms were ok but exceptional location. Their wine and cheese hour was excellent. They're breakfast was also delicious. We were greeted by Dana at the front desk and when we were checking out - Conner assisted us. They are very professional, cordial and provided us with excellent customer service. We highly recommend this place.

Yelp
We use to love this Inn. Management has changed and it's gone down hill. Watch out for the $30 RESORT FEE added to the bill. I asked about it and the front desk said it's for the water, etc. That use to be included. Marriott does this and I loved that this place did not trick it's customers. We are vegan and they use to go out of their way. This time we had to ask and we got fruit which was better than nothing. If you are vegetarian, do not assume the potatoes they serve are safe. The Potatoes served in the morning are made with BACON FAT. The smell made me sick. It's a beautiful property and rooms are nice. Housekeeping does a great job. Just not worth it for us with the add ons. Over 1000.00 for two nights with the 20% discount that was flashing for an average room. So sad. This use to be our favorite place.
google avatar

Marj H.

Yelp
Such a beautiful property. The room was perfect. Lovely happy hour and terrific breakfast. Special thank you to Stan for a perfect start to our day. Can't wait to stay here again.
google avatar

Priscilla F.

Yelp
This hotel underwhelmed. The view is beautiful but the rooms are extremely outdated with pictures from 1975 . The breakfast, omelet full of spinach. Why not keep it simple with eggs, bacon . Not adding all these things. The yogurt is disgusting and bland. For the price you pay I expected alot more than this, the elevator, I ll let you see for yourself
google avatar

Mitch K.

Yelp
We stayed there this weekend and we really enjoyed our stay at the Blue Lantern Inn. They made the check-in process so easy and kept us updated by text on when our room was ready. We loved the wine and cheese picnic that they had ready at 4pm and the breakfast each morning was very good and great to eat outside on our balcony overlooking the harbor. Parking was so convenient and the staff was very friendly. If I had one issue, it was that the rooms are in need of a facelift and there were stains on the carpet. The bed was very comfortable and we definitely would stay here again.
google avatar

Brooke H.

Yelp
This hotel was fabulous! I stayed in room 103 I had a beautiful patio overlooking the point. My room was so pretty, beautiful shutters, fireplace, mega jacuzzi tub. Included in the price is breakfast delivered to your room which was phenomenal, and a mini charcuterie board with wine in the afternoon which was also amazing! What a treat. Mini fridge in room with a few complimentary drinks was nice upon arrival. No microwave. The bed was pretty comfortable with 4 pillows. The price was a little steep for what it was. Free parking. The only thing that could have made it better is room service - they aren't doing it right now due to covid.
google avatar

Gigi P.

Yelp
I've been to many hotels and this one is lovely, charming and I appreciated so many things about it. The price is something you can't beat for all you receive. The customer service outstanding, and the moment you walk into the bright, simple but inviting room, you know you're somewhere special and it's a nice touch to have your room personalized for you. Between 430-5:00 pm they serve free wine and appetizers downstairs in the "common are" and one of my most FAVORITE things is " no cell phones allowed" I'm assuming the idea is to visit, mingle and talk to one another which is such a great idea. So often we are looking down, instead of another persons eyes. The atmosphere is simply lovely, whether you sit by the window or near the fireplace. There are plenty of eateries around town which are within walking distance. The following day your breakfast included with your hotel booking. freshly baked pineapple muffins, fresh jam and a delicious breakfast at no extra cost; again in the common area with no cellphones but actual newspapers for many to read. After breakfast they kindly provide bicycles to ride around town. I plan on visiting again and will definitely make The Blue Lantern Inn a frequent place to visit much more often throughout the year, just to get away. I think if you plan on visiting Dana Point, you won't go wrong making your reservations here.

Yelp
Beautiful hotel and views were to die for. Staff was exceptionally friendly and attentive.

Yelp
Wow. Totally fell in love with this place! So romantic and cozy. They have complimentary breakfast (plated), cheese boards every day at 4pm, and red and white wine available 4pm-10/11pm ish! They text you throughout your stay to schedule housekeeping around your day, ask for feedback, etc. very attentive! Need to come back again soon!

Yelp
Inn is at the end of a dead end road; ocean view with balcony and partial ocean view was nice. Room was clean but needs updating; it smells strongly like my grandmothers house, I don't know how else to say that! Overall it was a pleasant stay but not worth the money I paid.

Tyler F.

Yelp
Outstanding service and location. I came here with my girlfriend a month ago and loved it. The views off the cliff is beautiful, cost per night was not too crazy expensive and friendly service. I really wanna thank the servers and chefs during breakfast time. So courteous and friendly throughout my visit. Fresh coffee with creamers made my trip relaxed. The room was beautiful and spacious. The one issue I had was this odor it had like their own scent for the room, luckily I brought my own freshener. It's a cozy type of hotel/inn, I would come back here again.

Yelp
My husband and were just here in December for our 22nd anniversary this place is amazing and the views from our room was perfect. Now we are back on a getaway pure self care.

Yelp
We had a very nice stay here. Booked on Hotel Tonight, last minute...nice harbor view, fireplace, jacuzzi tub, hot breakfast, under $200! In Dana Point! The have a wine "Happy Hour," and free cookies. :) We mussed those, sadly. I'm sure there are more luxurious accommodations in the area, but this was perfect for us. Would definitely stay here again.

Yelp
My husband and I just got married a little less than 2 weeks ago. We're planning a tropical honeymoon next spring but we wanted to at least take a night somewhere nearby to enjoy our newlywed bliss. I looked into B&B's and Blue Lantern Inn was one of the first options to come up. I'm so happy to have found this gem!! It was exactly what we wanted, somewhere peaceful, romantic and cozy with a gorgeous view. There are restaurants within walking distance so we were able enjoy that extra glass of wine at dinner worry free. Dana the manager offered exceptional service and I'm so thankful for her wonderful hospitality! We enjoyed the wine hour when we checked in and splurged a little and got breakfast delivered to our room. Everything was just perfect!! I think we might make this our yearly anniversary tradition! Thank you again for everything Dana and team!

Yelp
Really enjoyed my short stay here. Great ambiance. Even with Covid being still a thing, I felt a little more normal than past covid hotel stays. The whole experience from booking to checkout was seamless. Great communication. Upon checking in we were greeted warmly and loved our mini wine and cheese picnic. Beautiful views on the property as well. The reason for only 4 stars and not 5 are 2 fold. The bed is starting to sink in the center. I'm not a fan of rolling to the middle of the mattress. It's a preference thing I guess. The second thing is that the room has a lot of light in the dark. The windows have shutters which are lovely but since our windows faced the parking lot not the water, the shutters allowed way too much light from the parking lot into the room. To the hotel I suggest adding a shade between shutters and windows for this type of view room. To the guest I suggest reserving a room that faces the water or view side instead, assuming there will be less light overnight.

Yelp
If I could I would probably give this place a 3.5 stars. We drove down on Sunday and arrived around noon. We went to check in and they said our room wasn't ready and they would text us when it was. We asked if we could use the bikes while we waited and the manager said yes. She really wasn't very friendly and seemed irritated that we wanted to check in and use the bikes. However, were thankful she agreed to let us use them. We rode around for a little over 2.5 hours and checked back in regarding the status of our room. They said they would let us know and that the room will be ready around 4pm. I totally understand check in being at 4pm and to not have the expectation to check in earlier however it was a cloudy cold Sunday and there were 6 other cars in the parking lot. I kind of expected them to maybe clean our room sooner than 4 since they knew we were there at 12, I'm noticeably pregnant, and we had a infant with us, but the room ended up being ready at 3:30. We got a text our room was ready and checked in. Conner was really nice checking us in. We got to our room which seemed like a punishment for requesting an early check in. I was disappointed because every picture I've seen of this place has a view of the harbor or cliffs and a patio. We got a room without a patio or balcony and a view of the 6 cars in the parking lot. Thanks. Room was clean and fireplace was nice. Nice big bathtub and comfy bed. Reverse osmosis water dispenser in the hallway, which were all redeeming qualities. We woke up the next day to the breakfast being delivered right on time. It was really good and we were really impressed. They even brought us extra eggs for our baby. Overall the rooms were clean and nicer than what I would expect from a 3 star hotel. Breakfast was surprisingly good and fresh. I wouldn't come back for the money especially after getting the one of the worst rooms in the place.

Yelp
We booked this as a staycation since Covid had impacted our post-deployment plans. We unloaded after our 4pm check-in, walked to get takeout and planned on eating on our patio (room 103). I was organizing our dinners and looked down to see my infant chewing and holding up a prescription pill she found on the chair cushion- Trazadone 100mg after looking it up online. I went to the front desk as a hysterical mother would on the phone with poison control. Long story short, hotels are taking so-called extra cleaning/sanitation measures, how were 3 pills missed? The manager called later the evening to see how our daughter was doing and said they would comp one of the three nights for this terrifying situation. I stand by my words that it's is not about the money and had she consumed two or more of the pills we would have had a serious tragedy. However, their consolation for crisis adverted is $395. I care for her well-being and safety. That set the tone for our trip and it was not enjoyable having the weight of "what if's" running through our minds. UPDATE: after completing the online review for our stay, I received a call from Hannah (I believe based out of their main office). She was very empathetic, understanding and really related to me mother-mother. She refunded an additional night and more importantly made me confident new protocol/standard will be their standard. We are are deeply grateful we did not have a tragic outcome and impacted the standards for cleaning rooms to prevent anything similar from happening in the future. I do appreciate the attention and follow-up management has shown to us.

Yelp
A perfect place to escape. There is nothing more relaxing than enjoying a bubble bath while sipping wine in a jetted spa tub, lounging in the beautiful sitting area admiring the breath taking view and laying in a king size bed watching a movie. Wake up to a delicious breakfast and freshly brewed coffee. They also offer Spa Services and Seasonal Packages to complete the remarkable experience. Blue Lantern Inn is perched in a cliff over looking Dana Point Yacht Harbor and the Pacific. It's the picture most people conjure when they consider a stay at a bed and breakfast. And it's an accurate portrait.

Yelp
Sorry to say I visited this hotel but decided not to stay. I checked it out in person to see if it lived up to the pictures. Well like most pictures the real thing isn't as nice. The outside of the building could use a good power washing and some touch up paint. I still inquired about a upcoming need for a weekday stay with the young lady manning the front desk. I had a need for an early check in (3 pm big deal). Well I didn't get the impression she was empowered to say yes since the policy is 4 pm but most of the time I have been able to check in by 2 at most establishments. This is a small place which should have control over such things. I was willing to make a reservation for a room around $400 a night for a weekday (I'm sure they will have some vacancies) but because they aren't willing to flex a bit I won't be staying there and they now have this nice review. I will see if the Waldorf down the way will make some level of accommodation for me.

Yelp
Again this is our second time down here in Dana point and this is got to be the very best B&B we have been. The rooms are spotless and perfect decors . The room we love looks over the harbor and the ocean. And checking in was great and very helpful. Note it's a little pricey but worth every penny. And the breakfast and wine and later in the day is superb ! Room 202 is the room we ask for and we will be back for the third time soon. If you want to stay here do it !!! You will fall in love with this B&B .

Yelp
My husband and I spent a perfect few days in this quaint inn with magnificent views. The inn is immaculate and the staff friendly. There is only 3 floors and not too many rooms. On our first day, we heard from a young boy from a family of four as they were checking out, "Why do we have to go? I just want to stay here." That was the only time I saw any children at the inn. There were just couples staying there having a very relaxing time. Our room was very nice with a balcony, fireplace and a huge jetted tub. There was a welcome card and a wish for a happy birthday and a cute little box to chocolates. (We were here to celebrate my birthday.) In the bathroom, there was a dispenser filled with shampoo, conditioner and body wash like at Life Time Athletic. At the double sinks, there was a large full size hand soap and lotion that smelled so good. The towels were thick Turkish towels and spa robes were also provided. There is a full breakfast buffet every morning that offered so many delicious choices. Every afternoon, there is a wine and cheese offering with many additional snacks. One of the days, we decided to go kayaking. The inn provided the best beach towels ever! It was given to us in a nice beach bag! They didn't just hand you a couple of towels like in most places. They also have very nice beach chairs for you to use as well as some bikes to ride. This stay was too short. We really had a wonderful time and we will be back.

Yelp
As an Orange County resident I've been wanting to stay here for years. We decided to have a 3 day staycation mid-week and it was fantastic. There were some pros and cons but the pros definitely won! Pros: -texted when the room was ready - early! -yummy complementary wine/cheese on our beautiful balcony daily -fireplace and jacuzzi tub -walked to lunch and dinner both nights for great food -beautiful outdoor patio overlooking the ocean to just sit and relax -THE VIEW from our balcony -super convenient parking Cons: -we had absolutely ZERO problem reusing out towels but they really need more towel racks or hooks to hang them -the eggs at breakfast tasted very weird, almost lemony or like a strange herb and they had a powdery texture -the bed and pillows have seen better days I would absolutely stay at the Blue Lantern Inn again!

Yelp
5 stars from start to finish. The staff really stood out to me. The friendliest team I've ever dealt with at a hotel. From helping me set up the room before arrival, to the complimentary wine and cheese picnic, to complimentary breakfast in bed, free bike rentals, stunning views, patio, deck behind the Inn looking over the harbor. Walking distance to just about everything you want to do. We've already booked another couple nights for the future. Can't say enough. Look no further.
