We live in Redwood City and had heard lots of recommendations to check out Blue Oak from friends in the area, but we had never been. When we started planning our wedding last year, we were looking for venues to host a welcome party for ~75-100 guests for the night before our wedding, and we saw that Blue Oak had a large event space that could be rented out. I reached out and heard back right away from their event coordinator, Brad, right away letting us know he could give a tour whenever we liked. We showed up later that week and he walked us through the space and talked us through what the event would look like. We had questions and he happily answered us, but the best part was that they seemed very amenable and willing to work with us which really set us at ease that we would be able to have the event happen exactly as we hoped. We signed a contract and paid a deposit for the space and then discussed connecting closer to the event to select beers for it. Around two weeks before we went in with my parents and Brad let us go one by one (and also back for plenty of seconds) through every beer on their current tap list. He was very knowledgeable about the beers and was honestly just a very great guy. For the event, we had outside catering delivered (they do not offer food) and were able to come to set up prior to the start time. Brad handled everything and hardly let us help when we needed a few things rearranged. They had a side room with a fridge and small food warmer where we could store a few of the trays of warm food. We were able to stream a video reel to a TV in the space and play music through their Bluetooth setup. Brad manned the taps and made sure everyone had a great time. We had such a wonderful experience with Blue Oak. Their beers are fantastic and the brewery and event space are awesome – we can’t recommend them enough!

Family-friendly, spacious, and very cozy! Also they even have 5 oz drinks!

Tasty brews and friendly staff. Live music, good grub and a cool hat! Definitely worth a visit. Cheers!

New favorite brewery to visit. They have really good sours !

Amazing little local brew. I live across the street and I definitely come here WAY too much, especially since they started their buck off Mondays It's located behind an industrial alley but trust me it's back there. They got a handful of sours and I love all of them so much. The IPAs are solid, the lager is refreshing as always, and the seltzer is actually delicious. If you order a 10oz you can get a beer for 4 bucks so I'm always down for that. There's usually a food truck or little pop up stand selling burritos and tacos. The outdoor area is a vibe and that's usually where everyone hangs out. This place is quiet during the weekdays but on the weekend it's the spot! Drinks: 8/10 Service: 6/10 Vibes: 7/10 Value: 7/10

Stopped in for a quick beer before jumping on the Caltrain to make a Giants game. This camouflaged oasis in the middle of a small industrial desert has the hop filled puddles to fall face flat into yo quench your thirst! First off, the street view does not do justice to the actual establishment. The outside of the building is very nondescript, but once inside, the four walls drip local artistic charm and you’ll find everything one would expect from a respectable brewery: friendly help, great beer, stainless steel tanks to reflect deep alcohol infused thoughts, games, merchandise, to go beer, etc. There’s an outside patio that is deceptively large, complete with covered seating and heat dishes. And while parking seems limited, there’s actually more parking around the side of the building. Can’t wait to go back and have more than just one!

Google
Excellent selection of beer styles. Very friendly staff. I enjoyed everything I tried on the menu. Loved the stout and fruited sours especially. Every time I am in the area for a visit from San Diego, I make a trip or two here for a pour......or two!

Google
Such a hidden gem! Been around RWC area for year and we first visited this place today. Very cozy and the drinks are fantastic! Love the vibe~ there’s a small food stand every now and then; when we were there, they had the quesadilla, and it’s amazing!

Yelp
BEST brewery for sours and IPAs. That's all. Apparently I need a minimum of 85 characters (shrug)

Yelp
This place has some of the best sours I've had in a long time. If you're into fruit-forward beers, you'll be very happy here. Deep Tropicalia? Dangerous in the best way. If you're local, it's worth swinging by after work just to hang. But beyond the beer, the real win is the space. It's available for rent and at a super reasonable price. And the people were super easy to work with in terms of logistics & rental. We hosted a work event here and were blown away by how much room there was. It's hard to find a venue that feels laid back but can still handle a big group comfortably. They pulled it off. Plenty of seating, great indoor/outdoor flow, and you don't feel like you're shouting over music or bumping elbows.

Yelp
Hadn't been to Blue Oak in a while but were visiting friends so thought we would stop by. We were able to find a parking spot (not always easy) and walked in the back area. There was a lot more indoor and outdoor spaces to sit which was great as it is a popular place. Staff are always friendly and the brewery has a great selection of beers. I enjoy sours and they have several. Talked with many other people sitting there with their dogs and everyone was having a good time. Nice to see everyone happy.

Yelp
If you're a fan of coffee stouts like me, the Inky and the Grain is made with Philz Coffee. Love the way this brewery is set up. Enjoyable way to spend a couple hours

Yelp
We discovered Blue Oak Brewing when we were staying at a near by hotel. We are glad we did since we stopped by multiple times. It's a big spacious place. It's big inside and quite a few seats outside. They have a mini arcade room which was really nice. My toddler loved going in there and playing the pinball games they have. I am an IPA and sour beer person so this was a perfect brewery for me. I tried all of their sours and their hazy IPA's. All were really good. My favorite was their Deep Tropicalia, and also my husband's favorite. That was surprising since my husband doesn't like to drink but he really liked that one. We really liked that there's a food truck everyday. They are really good at keeping their website updated with their food truck list which was really nice to see. The 2 food trucks we tried while there were really good. We walked every time we went. For those driving, parking is limited. Overall, we are glad we ran into this place. We will be coming back when we are in the area.

Yelp
This awesome, amazing place to have an after work drink, with Amazing food that comes and parks daily something new. Amazing workers all so welcoming friendly faces. Modern with a bit of comfy style art on the walls and such an awesome arcade area. They do weekly Trivia nights hold really nice events and live music. Dog friendly and kid friendly. The Brews are awesome Definitely try the pink drinks, on Hot days try their amazing slush brews!!

Yelp
So I came here the other Monday and had the most incredible service from Anna. I love the high ceilings and the receptiveness of staff. Will be coming back!!

Yelp
Every town has a few local breweries and a lot of times they're kind of interchangeable. A bunch of IPA's and some lighter beers are the standard fare. Well, Blue Oak here kicks that trend in the ass. Hard! They rock the beer board with some serious Belgian contenders such as Brother Brad Belgian Blonde and the Father Francois Belgian Quad and no less than 5 sours!! And of course there are several IPA options for the bitter crew as well. Plenty of lighter beers as well including an excellent dark lager. Can't say enough about this place, except "I can't wait to go back"

Yelp
Just a fun time out! Great Beer! My choice The Empress! Nector of the gods! Great service too! The best craft beer on the peninsula!

Yelp
Popped by on a Saturday. Blue Oak was pretty busy but there were still available tables and chairs. We tried a flight of their sours which were tasty and fruity. Lots of people bring their dogs, which we loved. There was also a food truck onsite. The bathrooms are a bit dirty but otherwise enjoyed our time here.

Kelly R.

Yelp
This place is tucked away, which gives it an additional boost on my evaluation of things. I generally don't like beer, but I always try one of their fruited sours and am pleasantly surprised with how tasty they are. I'm particularly fond of the citrusy or stone fruit, non-berry ones. Every time I've gone, there's a food truck on site and they seem to rotate across different businesses/cuisines. The last time I was there, they were having a cd/record pop up sale, which was fun to peruse through. Dog friendly

Yelp
This is my favorite brewery on the peninsula! It's pretty small but it's quaint both with indoor and outdoor seating. It's a little unsuspecting as far as location but there's a good amount of parking. So onto the beer.. mind you I'm not a huge beer enthusiast BUT I love sours and I usually struggle to find breweries that offer more than a couple. Blue oak usually has a good amount of them too (maybe 4-6 depending) and are super tasty!! Service is great and people are always coming around to make sure tables/barrels are clean. There's also food trucks on the weekend and sometimes even some live music! Overall good vibes, but sometimes it could get a little much with kids running around.. that's my own personal opinion though- I'm not huge on kids being allowed at breweries *shoulder shrug*

Yelp
Blue Oak was one of our regular spots when we lived on the peninsula. I haven't come nearly often enough since moving to San Jose. They have the perfect formula for a brewery - from the beer selection and variety of indoor/outdoor seating, to the live music and food trucks. They're also dog-friendly! And we never have a hard time finding parking between the small back lot, side parking and street parking. Staff are super friendly and knowledgable, and they're always happy to make a recommendation, even amidst the busiest of services. I was almost exclusively a sour beer drinker for a while, and I really appreciated their diversity of sours on tap. My friends who prefer hazies and IPAs also enjoy their menu. They've always had a food truck onsite when we've gone on weekends. Seating does fill up, so we try to get there early to get a covered outdoor table.

Yelp
Eamon puts on a great comedy show here. I was surprised at the turnout . I think there was supposed to be more but heck I was surprised there was as many as there was. They have some classic arcade games here. They brought back memories. My favorite drink here is the blue claw. It's not weak like those lame white claws.
google avatar

Yelp
Their flights are so good. The beer is so fresh and delicious and I've come here many times just for it. I recommend the flight so you can taste more beer. The only issue is that parking can be a mess. The atmosphere is wonderful with the food trunks, people, and dogs everywhere. I recommend this place but maybe come early so you don't struggle with parking. The service is pretty slow though and the owner was a character last we went.
google avatar

Gladwyn D.

Yelp
Everything about this place works from good IPAs, sours, and stouts to the food trucks and the ample seating all around. Get here early because parking is a problem especially Friday evenings

Yelp
We went back again on a warm Sunday afternoon. This place is PACKED. Inside and out. It's just such a perfect outdoor seating for a beautiful day like this in the California winter. Having a beer or two over a casual conversation with friendly strangers sharing the same table. What's more relaxing than that?! Our dog babies always make new friends there. And enough space for them to totally stretch out and enjoy watching ppl around. It's a huge bonus for us this place is so super dog friendly. Even for inside. Which makes it one of the few places we can take our dogs and hang out even on a rainy day. Will definitely go back. Oh almost forgot to say, it's a brewery place after all. I'm not even a beer person but he is. But I can still have a sour beer (their specialty thing) which actually tastes good. While he's tasting all kinds of creative stuff they have. But me and my dogs will be happily tagging along.
google avatar

Miyouko W.

Yelp
Yes. Its the right address on GPS. Definitely looks and feels like it's shady and you are lost. But it's at the end. Opens up to parking on the right. Two entries, an actual store fromt and warehouse opening in the back. Taco truck sucked hard. Liked the first two Hazy and the goddess sour. Open space in the back so kids can run around and dog friendly.
google avatar

Yelp
This spot was recommended to me for sours as that's my favorite style beer. Was super excited to come and see they had 5 sours on the menu. Sadly the sours were quite sweet and tasted a bit more like sugar bombs than the sours I know and love. If you like a sweet sour, these will be great for you, but if you're looking for a tart pucker your lips sour, this might not be what you're looking for. I normally go for a flight, but since my boyfriend and I wanted to try the same beers, it was actually cheaper to order 4 of the 16oz pours and share rather than get our own flights. We ordered two to start, and after realizing how sugary they were, we ended up ordering 10oz pours to share the next two. The next two were a bit more sour than the first two we ordered, but still super sweet. The berry ones didn't have a ton of noticeable flavor, couldn't point out any of the listed fruits really. The tropical ones seemed to be a little better at showing the different flavor profiles listed. They offer flights and a few different pour sizes. Nice to see that they offer large pours of sours because a lot of places don't seem to do that. We came on a weekend afternoon and they had a food truck outside. There was a bunch of seating both in and outside. We easily found a spot on what seemed like a fairly crowded day. This place is dog and kid friendly, lots of both were present when we were there. Service was super friendly as well.

Yelp
We visited for pico bbq pop up and had some beers to go along with it! It's super dog friendly here and they have shaded patio and indoor space! Their beer menu is mostly sours and IPAs with options for flights. Their POG sour is the best sour I've ever had! It's super fruity and tangy without too much acidity. Prices are also super reasonable, with options for sizes. Not sure how often Pico BBQ sets up here, but a must-try if they're here!! We had their three meat plate and all the meats were so good - especially the brisket was amazingly tender and flavorful. Even their sides were so unique and tasty. Everyone here was so friendly and chill; overall great vibes and fun space.

Yelp
Fun times! Trivia night was a blast. Open area, chill crowd. We were so lucky to have wonderful service and a wonderful selection of brews. Lagers, IPAs, and a lovely seltzer.

Jeff E.

Yelp
Great beer, an awesome food truck and plenty of outdoor and indoor seating. Parking can be tricky but we always manage. The staff are always helpful, perfect place to bring friends or for date night.
google avatar

Daniel L.

Yelp
Blue oak brewing is a pretty sweat spot with tons of outdoor seating and a good variety of beers. I got a flight of IPAs and lagers and they were all really bitter. I usually like bitter but these were over the top. I feel like there was some hop burn in them. The sours were all really good and light, not like some places that make them extra thick. They have tvs with sports on. You can bring your own food. Id recommend grabbing a giant sandy at little lucca and have a day here. Recommend this spot and will be back.

Yelp
Awesome family (and dog) friendly. Laid back vibes. Good brew, friendly service, and awesome ambiance. Couldn't ask for a better time!

Ashley G.

Yelp
The ambiance is decent, and there's usually a food truck on-site, which is a nice bonus. However, there are a few things that could be improved. The restroom lacks toilet seat covers, which can be uncomfortable for some guests--especially women--and it's unclear why this hasn't been addressed. I've also had an off-putting experience with the staff's demeanor at times, and on one occasion, I found a beard hair in my beer, which was disappointing.

Patrick F.

Yelp
When did Blue Oak become a kids party place? I've been a fan since it was just one loading dock door, but the lasted times thereve ben a mess of unsupervised little kids. Sheesh. Beer is still great, though.
google avatar

Sarah Y.

Yelp
Lots of seating with a nice vibe inside and outside. Their fruity sours were delicious -- I particularly enjoyed the jelly toast. Great place for an after work happy hour!
google avatar

Yelp
We love going to Blue Oak! It's a fun casual spot to get beers with your friends, and they always partner with a good food truck every weekend. There's plenty of indoor/outdoor seating and it's dog friendly! We appreciate coming here being able to catch a game, with a great drink selection. Service is always spot on.

Yelp
It's exactly what you want to see. Beverages. Cozy atmosphere. Friendly staff. Cold ones. Yup...more please.
google avatar

Yelp
The perfect spot for a great flight of beers. Grabbed some sours and west coast IPAs. The POG was the fan favorite. For any beer drinker, there's something you'll like and they have a food truck when you get hungry. Highly recommend this spot!

Yelp
We randomly saw this brewery off the freeway and decided to give it try. The beer is delicious here!!! Cool vibe and friendly service! Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
I am now updating my review in response to the owners comment. Alex, I appreciate your response. Your employee yelled at us at the bar after he served my friend her flight. It was with her transaction that the incident happened (we paid separately.) I also did hit my vape when I sat down with my drinks until the same staff member that yelled at us came up to me letting me know I could not hit my vape there and had to move to a designated smoking area and I kindly responded that I was sorry and didn't know because I genuinely didn't know that I couldn't and that was MY mistake in which I will own up to, although that part of the night was not the reason that compelled me to write this review. It was more to advise you, the business owner of your staff member who treated my friend and I extremely disrespectfully and it doesn't seem as if that was the first time this situation happened because there's another review here where someone said the SAME thing had happened to them. I don't ever write negative reviews on business and I don't find joy in doing this type of stuff but I had never experienced something like that before and felt as though it was something that deserved to be heard by the owner of the facility because that type of behavior is simply just wrong. I'm not here to slander your business because I love the beers and the atmosphere that it has, it was genuinely just upsetting that we had to experience something like that.

Yelp
Nice local brewery in a laidback setting. Lots of different beers to choose from, plenty of tables both inside and outside. Everyone here is nice and the spot even allows your furry friends to come along as well. So bring your dog and get nice and toasted here!

Giuseppi R.

Yelp
I've been going to Blue Oak for years. Last night, we ordered two beers and didn't tip on our first round, planning to return and tip generously after our second round. However, when we went back for the second round, the guy at the counter accused us of being rude for not tipping. That was a mistake on his part--because of his reaction, we decided to tip nothing. He then told us not to come back. Not a great look for Blue Oak to call us rude before we even had a chance to tip.

Yelp
What a hidden gem! Spacious area with good beers and sours to hang out at. Decent amount of seating. Sours are good. Price and pours are a good value. Perfect kind of spot to hang out! Service is great too. You can sample some before committing and the flights are huge!

Yelp
Blue Oak is a small, local brewer that has gained in popularity since I visited a few years back (I've been here at least 20 times since then). And they've expanded to meet the demand...up to a point. Some temporary seating outside has become more permanent, covered booths. And the weekend food truck that showed up during the middle of Covid has stuck around (Yay! - having a food option while drinking is muy bueno). On the down side, my recent visits have been less enjoyable, mainly because: -- It has reached the level of "too popular" on weekends; there are long lines for beer and sometimes no place to sit; parking can also be a major hassle if arriving late in the day -- The beer list has become much more dominated by fruit-forward sour beers; plus all new beers seem to be sours (or sweet hazies). I do like a sour beer now and then, but most of the time I want a west coast IPA to quench my thirst; these days I'm lucky if they have one on the menu (and it's usually an old recipe) -- Recently-added bands on Saturday are a buzzkill for me and my friends; there just isn't enough space. Not only does it quash the chill vibe we used to enjoy here, but it's very hard to carry on a conversation. (a full one-star decrement for this alone) They still have really well-made beer here at Blue Oak, but I feel the need to downgrade based on the lower likelihood of future visits.

Yelp
We went for the ugly Christmas sweater event on a Saturday. The place is big and they do have plenty of eating space indoor and outdoor. No complaints about the service - it was kind of busy but they did a great job keeping up w the empty glasses . There is a taco truck parked right outside - since the brewery does not serve food. It is pet friendly - everyone has their dogs. I also saw a lot of families even though it was in a very industrial area. The place is good for everyone
google avatar

Rebecca W.

Yelp
I loved this spot! The service was particularly good with a very friendly person behind the bar. They were very helpful and helped me decide on the beers I wanted to try. Lots of tables and both dogs and kids are welcome! We hung out a while working on our laptops and it was a great environment for getting stuff done, surprisingly! Would come back for sure!
google avatar

Janette W.

Yelp
A great find on the peninsula! It's pretty spacious and there are a lot of tables both inside and out. It was rainy, so I was glad to see most of the outdoor seating is covered. Good hazy IPA and great music!
google avatar

Paolo B.

Yelp
If you love sour beers, Blue Oak Brewing is the place to check out in the Peninsula! IPAs are ruling the world right now and TBH, they all mostly taste the same, have west coast hops, which is why I go out of my way to search out and try sour beers. Most places typically only have 1-2 sours on tap, Blue oak had 4 different types of sours available when I visited, and they all tasted unique and refreshing. My favorite had to be the instant-gratification and the soursop. The flights come in 4s and are legit pours! They've done an amazing job with their outdoor seating area, with covered picnic tables and rotating food trucks make this a great spot to enjoy beers and bites outdoors. The brewery is dog friendly and the staff here are knowledgeable about their beers and helpful when making decisions. If you have a fav beer they do 16oz and 32oz crowlers they can fill up with the beers they have on tap. Definitely a fun spot to check out in the Peninsula!
google avatar

Rosa B.

Yelp
Came during their 6th anniversary celebration during SF week and had their sour flight. They were all delicious. While they were all super tasty, the deep tropicalia was the best and my least favorite was midnight bramble.
google avatar

Sarah S.

Yelp
As a non beer drinker, I was pleasantly surprised to find something really tasty. I had the deep tropicalia and I definitely want to go back to try the midnight bramble at some point. Vibe was casual and very dog friendly. There was a food truck at the back making pizza. The Pepsi pizza with sausage was really tasty. There are both indoor and outdoor tables.
google avatar

Michelle P.

Yelp
We had a nice afternoon in the sun after some crappy weather drinking some beer and people watching - w didn't try any food from the truck - our bad - the beer was good and we luckily found a place to sit after a noisy group left. Kid friendly, but we were trying to escape our bickering kids, so we were less stoked about this aspect. Our issue, not Blue Oak's. Would come back
google avatar

Frank L.

Yelp
This is the best brewery I've experienced on the Peninsula by far. I mean it. The beer is anywhere from good to excellent and they've wisely set up two ordering registers for when it gets busy. There is indoor and outdoor seating as well. I do recall a food truck there as well. It's worth noting that there can be long lines on the weekend and the place gets crowded quickly, forcing you to stand and drink. Also, parking can be challenging as the establishment is located in an industrial park but still, it's worth the hassle because of the quality of the beer. I noticed that it has an ample selection of sours if that's your thing.
google avatar

Yelp
Spent a few hours here with some friends who drove in from all over the Bay Area. We were looking for a centrally located outdoor space with great beer. Blue Oak was good for all of those things... but two issues really bothered me. Before getting into that, the good stuff: Solid selection of beers. Each of us had our own four-beer flight. I tried the Shadowbanned Imperial Stout, River Bank Porter, Sue's Saison, and Grey Matter Pilsner. No, I don't really like IPAs. But that was fine... All the beers I tried were really, really good. And say what you will about Pilsners but this one was good enough to have a second glass. The outdoor space was decent. Got a little warm in the afternoon and the airflow wasn't as strong as I expected but still a nice place to spend the afternoon. So why only three stars? There's a big sign on the front door that states they will not enforce mask requirements, no matter what government regulations are put into effect. We all have our own opinions about masks. But when a business decides not to follow actual regulations, it makes me wonder what other health and safety requirements they've decided are optional? The other practical issue is parking. They have a few spots right next to the building plus a parking lot in the back but everything was full when we arrived mid-afternoon. It's not really clear who was taking up all these spots, since there were few customers at that point in the day. The entire street is a patchwork of private parking spots in front of businesses. Most had signs saying brewery parking was not allowed. At that point, you're driving all the way back to Industrial Road for street parking that rapidly fills up. So, yeah, it was a fine experience for an afternoon but I personally have trouble looking past those two items. Unsure if I'll be back.
google avatar

Natalie P.

Yelp
Best sours around. My friends really like the IPAs. Really great space and good food trucks often. The space has really opened up so theres plenty of room.
google avatar

Alex K.

Yelp
OVERALL: Someone I know you talked about the sour beers here so I wanted to come check it out. Good drinks but not the best experience. DRINKS: I ordered a flight with three sour beers and one hard seltzer. They were all very good and I would order them again. It's fun that they do beer flights so you can check out a lot of different ones. The pours in the flight are also huge, which I didn't expect. That was nice. Bummer that they don't serve any food though. SERVICE: Service was quick but the staff is not very friendly. SPACE: They lose points here. It's in the industrial part of San Carlos, which is not very appealing. They have some parking but if that's full parking is difficult. They have indoor and outdoor seating, neither with much ambience. Fieldwork in San Mateo is a much nicer brewery experience.

Yelp
I'm a verrrryy casual beer drinker. Like an actually "drinks in social settings", and as an introvert, that pretty much means I don't socialize and thus, don't drink :D Buuuut when there are birthdays, I am game to say hello and put the lil' social battery to the test. And a birthday there was at the Blue Oak Brewing Company. First impressions is that Google Map will lead you [correctly] to a kind of warehouse setting - that is where you park and enter the facility at the end. You're met with two bathrooms, and then the bar itself with a colorful menu and the huge vats of beer. Since I don't really drink that much, I just had the bartender order me "the most popular" and "his favorite". He was very nice about it (though he later said "I just gave you my two favorites haha") and there we went. Blue Oak is known for their sours - so I got a Hello Mot Ueka and a Fate's Whisper. The Hello was hoppy, like an IPA. Maybe it is an IPA. I was down. It was good. The Fate's was a red-pink sour (blackberries, raspberries, papaya) - a bit like a beer-juice sour. Honestly super easy to drink. Most notably what I loved about Blue Oak was the atmosphere - it was casual, high-quality, and just a great place to hang out. We saw other birthdays here - and for good reason. It's just a superb vibe to bring food, maybe games, and bond with your friends over amazing beer.
