I have been here before. I Always make it a priority when I’m in Amsterdam. It never disappoints. Small bistro serving Se Asian food, principally Indonesian, some Balinese and Sumatran influences. Staff and owner are gracious and friendly. They always make me feel like I’m a valued guest. The food can be spicy (which I like) but I’ve heard other tables ask for milder versions and they were happy to accommodate. They have 3 different rijstafels , all fish, vegetarian and a mixed meat. They do good wine pairings at a very reasonable addition. They serve individual dishes as well, many very beguiling and mouthwatering.

We had a fantastic experience at Blue Pepper restaurant during our recent trip to Amsterdam. The team very kindly accommodated our dietary preferences. As someone who enjoys flavorful, spicy food, I can confirm that every dish exceeded my expectations. The price was also very reasonable for two people including drinks. I would highly recommend.

My husband and I came here on a friend's recommendation and loved it! We got the "Sultan and I" rijsttafel, and it was fantastic. 4 courses to try- all small to medium portions. We left very full but so happy. Great meal! The restaurant staff were also all lovely and so kind and helpful. They explained each dish as it came out. Can't wait to return on our next trip!

We went here on a friend’s recommendation, and it was absolutely smashing! Definitely the best meal we had in Amsterdam, and that’s actually very high praise! Meant to be Indonesian cuisine, it’s more like an eclectic mix of Asian cuisines that is perfectly executed and presented. We chose the pre-set menu which was perfect for 2 people. The duck, minced lamb, and the sorbet dessert were simply outstanding! Service was friendly and top notch. These folks genuinely love what they do, and it comes across in their attitude, food presentation, and taste. Loved it - and would highly highly recommend this restaurant! PS - if the restaurant staff is reading this, can you pls tell us the name of the fruit you use in top of your sorbet? That was truly a unique item to try! Thank you

We had a delightful team dinner at Blue Pepper and couldn’t have asked for a better experience. From start to finish, everything was excellent. The food was absolutely delicious—beautifully prepared, full of flavor, and enjoyed by everyone in our group. The service truly stood out. The staff were attentive, friendly, and incredibly well-organized, especially given that we were a large group of 30 people. Special thanks to Avijit, who was extremely helpful and accommodating throughout the entire process. He went above and beyond to assist us with the boat tour that brought us to the restaurant, making the arrival experience seamless and memorable. Avijit and the team also did an outstanding job handling our diverse dietary requirements, including vegan, gluten-free, pescatarian, and allergy-specific needs. Everyone felt well taken care of and could fully enjoy the meal without worry. Overall, Blue Pepper delivered a fantastic dining experience with great food, excellent service, and thoughtful attention to detail. Highly recommended for team dinners or group events in Amsterdam, we would gladly return!

We were a group of five who ordered the 4-course menu at Blue Pepper Restaurant, and we were very pleased with the entire experience. The food was excellent, with creative and well-balanced twists that made each dish interesting enhancing the authentic flavors. We were also pleasantly surprised by how beautifully the dishes were presented — elegant and inviting on the plate. The wine pairing matched well, and the service was both professional and friendly. We felt well taken care of throughout the evening. A restaurant we can highly recommend — and one we’ll definitely return to on our next visit to Amsterdam.

The dinner cruise exceeded my expectations. The food was incredible, the service was excellent, atmosphere totally charming. Even coordinating the logistics in advance was pleasant. It was a very special experience, even for us Amsterdammers who have all been on the canals many many times. It was one of the best activities I've ever done in Amsterdam, and my whole group raved about the experience afterwards.
