Just got a graduation cake for my daughter. The cake was decorated beautifully and everyone at the party was raving about how delicious it was. Very reasonably priced too! I will definitely be getting all my cakes from Blue Ribbon in the future!

Got my sister's birthday cake here. It came out beautiful and exactly what I wanted and it was also delicious and that buttercream 😍😍. The owner Chris is also a very amazing guy he was super nice and did my cake for me last minute.. all and all I'm very impressed and will be going there for my cakes from now on.

Chris is awesome. 1st time customer but won't be the last. I needed cupcakes and a sheet cake for my daughters 3rd beeday party( bee themed). Chris was super friendly to talk to and we discussed our kids and being parents. It was very nice. The product didn't disappoint. The cupcakes were wonderful and the cake as well. The best Red Velvet cake and frosting that I ever tasted. It was the first time that I had cake from there and will definitely try it again.

I have been buying cakes here since 2015. They are always outstanding and Chris is a delight to deal with. He will customize the cake any way that you wish and is extremely flexible. the cakes are always delicious and people are always asking where the cake is from. just make sure to call ahead to order it as everything is made to order.

Thank goodness Chris continues this Salem shop's tradition of spectacular frosting and yummy cake at super reasonable prices. If your birthday is coming up, I highly recommend a layer cake with one layer vanilla and the other chocolate. And while you're at it, get cupcakes for family and friends and keep that delicious cake for yourself! I'm already looking up random holidays to celebrate so I can order a Blue Ribbon Cake again soon.

I ordered a cake, short notice, and it is a nut free bakery, which is what I needed. The owner was very pleasant and was able to help me, I was thrilled. I picked up the cake, but was a little leary as the place seemed very old and run down. Also, the colors were not exactly what I asked for, but that was ok, and a little pricey for what I got. When we cut the cake, and as people were having it, I was so disappointed. It was extremely dry and crumbly. Barely edible, luckily we had other desserts available. Nobody ate it, I threw it away. I would not recommend this place of business. Do yourself a favor and go to your local supermarket or another bakery.

I cannot say enough about how delicious this cake experience was! First of all - Chris is the NICEST person to engage with - but his talent in the art of baking is top notch. I have had a lot of cakes in my life - his was by far the most moist and delicious one around! Not to mention the frosting - the buttercream was PERFECT - I ordered a cake for 20 people - _everyone_ ate cake and RAVED - others have complained about the basic design - sorry - fondant cakes are pretty - I want something that isn't a project to eat that also tastes amazing - you will NOT be disappointed by supporting Blue Ribbon Cake! They have my business forever!!

This guys makes a variety of cakes. He has a portfolio of wedding cakes he has made as well as birthdays and such Bring in any picture of what ever cartoon your child may like and he'll draw it out. Anything you want, he can make. He only does three types of cakes though. Vanilla, chocolate and marble. The three basics. He does make a variety of sizes. small sheet cakes to 4 ft. long sheet cakes for big parties. Layered cakes as well. So if someone you know has a birthday, shower, christening, wedding, an occasion of any kind coming up, give him a call, his name is Chris and he is the nicest guy ever.

I ordered a cake here for my sons birthday. I liked the idea that this was 100% nut free bakery. At the time, my son was deathly allergic to peanuts. I brought in some pictures of cakes that I wanted. The owner was sure he could make the cake. The cake itself was a store bought quality in flavor/texture. The designs weren't anything to write home about either. All we wanted were basic zoo animals and the designs we got were exactly that.... Basic If you are looking for true attention to detail this isn't the right bakery for you.

I called Blue Ribbon Cake last minute for my boyfriend's birthday cake. He was so helpful and willing to make it last minute. When I wasn't sure if I could pick it up he offered to deliver it. The cake was so cute and wicked yummy. The frosting which is the same recipe from 70 years ago is amazing. Thanks Chris for your get cake and hospitality! Came back 2 years later and had a conversation with Chris to customize a cake for my roommate's 22nd birthday. My roommate loves Dexter, so I wanted to do a Dexter theme for her. After some browsing on Pinterest, I concluded on a simple yet cute idea that Chris can do. Conversations with Chris are always so pleasant and he's always more than happy to try to do anything. The cake was the smallest size, that can feed up to 10 people. 1 layer of chocolate and 1 layer of vanilla. When my friend picked up the cake for me, it was amazing as expected for such a cheap price! I called him after I got the cake and personally thanked him for such a great job! Blue Ribbon Cake never fails me!

Where do I even begin? Blue Ribbon is the BEST place to order your cakes and cupcakes. To me, they taste how you expect a cake or cupcake to taste like. But the best part about Blue Ribbon: it's 100% NUT FREE! If you have a nut allergy, or if you need a cake for a party and one of the attendees has a nut allergy, get it from Blue Ribbon. I always love chatting to Chris (the store owner) about stuff like cakes and nut allergies. Anyways, I ordered a cake with an Apple logo on it and a dozen cupcakes and was happy to get them ready within 3-4 days after the order. The cake was very good, vanilla and vanilla and the cupcakes were also delicious. The pricing is also very reasonable. The cakes are available in multiple sizes based on how many people you are catering to (I got small, caters to 10 people) and does vanilla, chocolate, marble, and carrot. The cupcakes start a 90 cents per cupcake (yup, you heard me right!) and you can order either vanilla, chocolate, or red velvet.

No complaints here! They did bridal cupcakes for my sister-in-law's shower this summer and I can't even remember the high amount of compliments from the guests. Reasonably priced, delicious and awesome owner!!

I live in California and we were heading back to Salem to visit family. Four birthdays were being celebrated. I found Blue Ribbon Cakes through Yelp, spoke with Chris, the owner, and ordered our family birthday cake. It was beautiful and absolutely delicious! Received compliments from everyone. The cake was perfect, ready when promised. Everyone living in the area, I'm sure, now has a new bakery for any and all occasions. Chris is so nice, accommodating and makes an excellent product. Next time we're in town, Blue Ribbon Cake will be on our dessert list. Thanks Chris!

I went to this bakery because I needed a nut-free cake..... and that is what I got- a single layer basic cake made in a safe nut free environment. Basic is def the key word..... we usually get an amazing DOUBLE layer delicious cake from Costco for 16.99 that everyone enjoys and asked where i got the cake. I had no feedbacks or questions where I got this cake! As for the customer service it was amazing! He was very kind and friendly! But if I was going to charge someone $48.00 for a basic single layer cake with simple decorations I would be kind as well. What I learned from this experience is I could have made this cake for under $10.00. I hate going to a restaurant I pay for food I can make better. Just like I hate spending $48.00 on a cake I could have designed and made better. Lesson learned. Next time I have an allergy in my guest list I will made a yummy 2 layer cake in the safety of my own kitchen.

I got a cake from Blue Ribbon for a baby shower. Chris was very helpful over the phone with ideas and when I went in to order the cake he was able to help me pick the right size. The cake tasted great and was decorated beautifully. I was amazed at the quality cake we received for the inexpensive price that we paid! Very affordable. I will order another cake the next time I have a reason!

25 years ago I had my wedding cake made at Blue Ribbon cakes by the original owner. On my 25 th wedding anniversary the new owner Chris made a replica of my wedding cake. It was perfect. My daughter has had her wedding cake done by Chris and every birthday for my husband since we met. His cakes are amazing nothing compares to the taste of the Blue ribbons cakes.

Wanted to order a 50th birthday cake for my husband. I was struggling as most of the bakeries around the North Shore have terribly dry cakes with sugary frosting. I read these reviews for Blue Ribbon and called and spoke to Chris. I asked for a Celtics themed cake and he couldn't have been more helpful and was thrilled to accommodate. The cake was ready on time and it was beautiful. I served it to 16 of his friends and everyone commented on how moist and tasty the cake was. I am not a big cake person, but holy cow I am now!! This was the best cake I'd ever eaten from a bakery. Will go back for all my cakes.

We live in California and I needed to order a cake for a "double birthday" for my husband and my daughter, who lives in Salem. Chris, the owner, was great to work with and the cake exceeded all of our expectations. Great value at a really reasonable price. I would definitely order from Blue Ribbon again the next time we have a party in Salem.

I moved to Salem while I went to Salem State. All four years I stuck with going to Chris for all the birthday, holiday, and just because cakes. I've gotten about 6 or 7 cakes from him so far. He would go over exactly what I wanted and they always came out amazing. I'm not really a fan of bakery cake and rarely ever eat cake at birthdays, but I must say his cakes taste absolutely AMAZING! I've gotten so many compliments on not only the decorations he does, but the taste as well. His prices will shock you, and I mean that in the best way. For the work he puts into every one of his cakes they are more than affordable, and this is coming from a struggling college student to struggling grad! I moved back to Boston, where I'm from, but continue to make the drive into Salem just for his cakes.
