I recently hit up Blue Seafood and Bar for brunch, and let me tell you, this spot is a breath of fresh air in NYC's brunch scene of "throw an egg on top of everything".
The nautical-themed decor with its cool blue tones and marine art gives off a chill, elegant feel.
The service was good: friendly, knowledgeable staff who are there when you need them but don't hover. It makes the whole experience smooth and enjoyable.
They kick things off with this amazing caponata and crusty bread. It's a sweet, sour, and savory eggplant relish that had me hooked from the first bite. Such a great way to start the meal.
I started with the Kumamoto oysters, and wow, they were fresh and briny with just the right touch of sweetness. The mignonette sauce added a nice zing, making them an absolute treat.
The seafood salad came next, and it was a colorful, fresh mix of shrimp, scallops, and calamari in a light, citrusy dressing. Super refreshing and tasty--definitely not your average brunch salad.
For the main event, I went with the classic 2 eggs, which came with a side of mixed greens and roasted potatoes. The eggs were perfectly cooked, the salad was crisp and lightly dressed, and the potatoes were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Simple, but done right.
What I loved most about Blue Seafood and Bar is that they don't stick to the usual brunch clichés. Their menu has real variety and quality, which makes it stand out from the crowd. You can even order from their regular menu.
So, if you're looking for a brunch spot that's a cut above the rest, with great food and a cool vibe, you've got to check out Blue Seafood and Bar. It's definitely worth a visit!
