Weddings and Events at The Tannery

We had a wonderful wedding at the Tannery and it was everything we wanted. A massive thanks to Lorie (event planner). We were absolutely overwhelmed by the level of care, professionalism, and warmth you brought to our wedding. You were gentle, patient, thoughtful, and so incredibly organised — nothing was ever a problem. You made us feel like ours was the only wedding you were planning all year, and that meant the world to us. Every member of staff was wonderful, and the food was simply excellent — our guests are still talking about it! We’re so grateful to you for helping create such a magical, seamless day.

We recently hosted our end-of-year Christmas party at The Tannery with 160 staff, and it was an outstanding experience! Lorie, James, and their team were incredible, supporting us every step of the way. Their assistance with pre-event preparation was invaluable, and the setup on the day was seamless thanks to their efficiency and attention to detail. The food was absolutely divine and perfectly presented. They brought our vision to life and even helped arrange additional screens and projectors for our special awards ceremony. All the bar staff and wait team were exceptionally friendly and helpful, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere throughout the event. We would absolutely host another event here again. Thank you, Lorie and James, for making it such a memorable occasion!

Blue smoke is a great venue and food are delicious and has big servings. Manager James is very helpful and kind. I had a great night on my 50th birthday.

We recently celebrated my father's 80th birthday party at Bluesmoke at the Tannery. It was a fabulous evening for Dad, and everyone who attended. This included all his kids, grand-kids and great-grand-kids, his new one week old cousin and his almost 80 year old cousin. Friends and family from all over New Zealand enjoyed a lovely relaxed evening celebrating his life. The venue, facilities, staff and food were amazing. We would highly recommend Bluesmoke as a venue for a multi-generational celebration.

I photographed a gorgeous wedding recently at The Tannery, I had flown into Christchurch and hadn't been to the venue before. Lorie was so welcoming and helpful, showing me around all the key spots of the venue and allowing me as long as I needed to scope out the places where I would photograph my beautiful couple. On the day she was across everything, every aspect of the client experience was a 10 out of 10, and her attention to detail and organisational skills are second to none. For any couples looking at this venue, I would highly recommend it. The food was incredible, and the service was some of the best I have seen, and it was a dream to photograph there.

The crew at Blue Smoke at the Tannery are outstanding A special shout out to James who went above and beyond his call of duty with the high level of service and thoughtfulness The food was amazing and the drinks flowed easily, the venue is fantastic and very easy to hold a function in! Definitely deserving of 5 stars!

I have worked with Lorie and the team on multiple occasions and have always loved my experience. Communication, attention to detail and professional- they make everything so easy. Can’t wait until next time and couldn’t recommend them all enough!
