Weddings and Events at The Tannery

We had a wonderful wedding at the Tannery and it was everything we wanted. A massive thanks to Lorie (event planner). We were absolutely overwhelmed by the level of care, professionalism, and warmth you brought to our wedding. You were gentle, patient, thoughtful, and so incredibly organised — nothing was ever a problem. You made us feel like ours was the only wedding you were planning all year, and that meant the world to us. Every member of staff was wonderful, and the food was simply excellent — our guests are still talking about it! We’re so grateful to you for helping create such a magical, seamless day.

We recently celebrated my father's 80th birthday party at Bluesmoke at the Tannery. It was a fabulous evening for Dad, and everyone who attended. This included all his kids, grand-kids and great-grand-kids, his new one week old cousin and his almost 80 year old cousin. Friends and family from all over New Zealand enjoyed a lovely relaxed evening celebrating his life. The venue, facilities, staff and food were amazing. We would highly recommend Bluesmoke as a venue for a multi-generational celebration.

I photographed a gorgeous wedding recently at The Tannery, I had flown into Christchurch and hadn't been to the venue before. Lorie was so welcoming and helpful, showing me around all the key spots of the venue and allowing me as long as I needed to scope out the places where I would photograph my beautiful couple. On the day she was across everything, every aspect of the client experience was a 10 out of 10, and her attention to detail and organisational skills are second to none. For any couples looking at this venue, I would highly recommend it. The food was incredible, and the service was some of the best I have seen, and it was a dream to photograph there.

I recently had my 21st at this amazing venue and not only is it the most gorgeously decorated space but it was the most well organised event I couldn’t asked for. The management was seamless, expertly organised and kind. Throughout the night the staff went above and beyond my expectations to care for me and my guests. 1000% recommend!!!

The space is stunning and perfect for any occasion. What truly made our experience exceptional was the outstanding service provided by Lorie and the team. Lorie was an absolute dream to work with—she was incredibly accommodating, always available to answer questions, and went above and beyond to ensure everything went smoothly. The execution of our event was flawless, and it was clear that the team at The Tannery takes great pride in their work. Every detail was handled with care, and the entire experience was seamless. I couldn't have asked for a better venue or a more professional team to make our event a success!

Great vibe. Busy but not overcrowded. Great variety of shops. Awesome food and drink at Cassels. Loved the little tribute to Alistair Cassel in the window. An amazing entrepreneur who made this place happen.

This was the perfect venue to celebrate my 50th birthday. Lorie was brilliant to deal with and everything went seamlessly. Nothing was a problem! From the planning and set up, to the bar service and food options. The grazing table was incredible, and everyone loved the evening. A thoroughly memorable night! Thanks team!
