"The Blue Star Bicycling Company The Blue Star Bike Co rents pedal bikes as well as electric bikes for those who want a power boost. The shop designs and builds custom electric bikes so they know of what they rent. The location makes it easy to get your new wheels spinning thanks to its spot on the River Walk's 7-mile loop."

I had to ask if they even work there since they stared at me as I rode up. Typical stuck up kiddos not offering solutions.

Owner basically threatened to get our cars towed for parking in the complex for a bike ride because we weren’t renting his bikes. Why would I spend money anywhere in Blue Star at that point? Ended up eating at Camp Outpost instead. Otherwise would love to park in the area, ride bikes, and eat at the restaurants. Huge bummer. Especially when there were about 20 open spots. If Bluestar is going to nickel and dime about parking I will gladly frequent other parts of Southtown. As far as bike shops would highly recommend HUBMRKT nearby. 5/5

We really enjoyed our experience using the e-bikes at Blue Star Bike Shop. We only had a couple hours to spare, and they got us checked out and on the trail very quickly. The bikes were easy to use and made for a fun way to see the Riverwalk/missions trail. They give you a lock, basket & helmets and the pricing is fair for the time spent.

After reading reviews I now see that we weren’t the only ones with a problem parking to ride. We frequently visit all of the shops at Blue Star and never have problems except at the bike shop. The First time going there we were rushed out so he could close the doors in the middle of business hours. Came back a week later to see if we could finally go in and shop around and waited in the parking lot over an hour after they were supposed to open then left to visit another bike shop. The final time we barely got out of our vehicle and the employee walked out of the shop and to our vehicle to tell us we can’t park there to ride, only customers are allowed to park here. WE WERE ATTEMPTING TO BE PAYING CUSTOMERS! We packed up and left once again. Highly recommend hubmarket as an alternative.

New to cycling, work close to this place, I’ve had to come in a few times and the guy behind the counter helps me everytime without hesitation. He has taught me how to do what I want and that’s better than paying someone to do it for you. Will get future upgrades through them solely do to how they treat you when you walk in broken down on a rainy day.

I was in town for a few days and really wanted to check out the mission trail. I was debating on renting a regular bike vs the electric and decided to go with a small business. They were great. The process was super easy and the staff was really nice and helpful. I was by myself but the trail felt safe and it was really enjoyable. Be sure to stop at the Blue Star Brewery, the raspberry beer was so good after the long hot ride! The burger was great too!

Absolutely amazing!! Bikes were of good quality, Shop guys were pleasant and helpful. Instructions were simple and straightforward. Highly recommend!! We’re from out of state and rented bikes for the missions trail. There’s plenty of spots along the trails to use restrooms and refil water bottles. Park benches and picnic tables are also along the path so we packed a picnic and made a day of this outing. Being on bikes made the experience fun for our kids-WAY better than driving to each mission, plus we definitely got our exercise in. Our kid wanted to bring their bikes, and we didn’t want to haul them. So grateful for blue star and helping us make wonderful memories !!!

I want to like this bike shop. It has good prices and one guy there is pretty cool. The other guy I have dealt with rubs me wrong. I asked him to true my front tire and he didnt want to, and he got visibly aggravated and said it was going to cost a lot. I asked why and he said it was because it was an ebike. I told him that didn't make sense, so he asked if I even went to other shops. It's important to note that its a rear hub motor and there is no difference in my front tire and a non ebike front tire. When I asked why it cost more if he couldn't tell the difference, he told me to ask to the owner. Then he said they didnt like working on ebikes at all. I hope this isn't the real policy. They charge more because they don't like ebikes even if it doesn't make a tangible difference on the job. I hope he is just being rude and this isn't the real policy.
