The Best Walking Tours in Melbourne (Updated 2025)

"I found the Blue Tongue Bikes tour to be an eco-friendly way to get around and get an all-encompassing view of Melbourne, seeing major attractions while learning the city's history from the early Aboriginal period to the present, with expert guides offering tips on what else to do and where to eat during breaks; tours start at 65 AUD." - Matthew Kepnes

This was hands-down one of the best experiences of our trip! The route was beautiful, the bikes were in great condition, and the pace was just right for taking in all the sights without feeling rushed. Huge shout out to Leo and Max — they were incredible guides! Super friendly, knowledgeable, and made the whole ride so much fun. They shared great local insights, kept the energy high, and made sure everyone was safe and included. Their passion for what they do really shines through. If you’re thinking about booking a bike tour, do it — and ask for Leo and Max if you can. You won’t regret it! 🚴‍♀️🌟

Best bike hire experience!! Azmeer gave us great advice on which bike to choose and even gave us advice on where to go! The service here is amazing and bikes were wonderful, at a very reasonable price too. Definitely coming back in the future for more bike hires! Couldn’t have asked for a better experience 😁😁😊

If you’re in Melbourne and want to get out and about then I really recommend taking one of their guided tours. Or if you just prefer to hire on of their bikes and do your own thing they offer a number of self guided rides you can take around Melbourne using google maps guided assistance. I hired a e-bike and did the 30km capital city trail, it’s a great loop of Melbourne and I really enjoyed the ride. Currently some parts are currently being repaired so there is some detours at Abbotsford and North Carlton. Once these are finished the ride will be greatly improved.

Great bike tour of Melbourne, with a very interesting route and plenty of stops to chat about things. The route was fine, it was easy to get to the start point and the bikes were very easy to ride. The staff were also very helpful when our cruise ship was delayed by bad weather and held the tour until we could all get there. Really good value for money.

Hired a bike today with my friend from Blue Tongue Bikes and it was such a splendid experience! The bike was in good condition (with phone holders too!) and the helmets were clean and tidy, with perfect prices. The staff, Azmeer, was so friendly and cheery! He was so helpful and open, even told us good trails to take for our cycle. The views were topnotch! He made this experience so much better, as he was so patient and nice with all our questions, will definitely come back here again someday!

Loved the city tour, our guide Max was amazing at answering questions along the way and provided such a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Learnt so much about the history of Melbourne which covered so many topics (everything from first nation identities, its new multiculturalism and Melbourne’s sport and arts & culture + more). My friend and I had the best time and would definitely come again. Thank you!

Walked in and hired a gravel bike today, the guys were happy to swap to swap pedals for me, and give me tips on a route to take. Bike was in good working condition, just what I needed for 80km of bike paths around Melbourne.

We had a great 4 hour e-bike tour with Freddy which included downtown Melbourne, sports complex, around other nearby parks, Chinatown and a wonderful stop for lunch. He kept us all safe and we had a fun ride together.
