The 25 Best Things to Do in Bermuda

"Bermuda is known as the shipwreck capital of the Atlantic, and for good reason. Some estimates put the number of wrecks along the reef surrounding the island at around 300; new ships are continually being discovered—and are continually being scuttled, expanding the underwater geography off the island’s coast. To navigate the vast scope of shipwrecks in Bermuda, there’s no better outfit than Blue Water Divers, the longest-running PADI dive center on the island. BWD, under the guidance of divemaster Chris Gauntlett, offers two-tank morning dives year-round and one-tank afternoon dives when there’s demand for it, at some of Bermuda's best dive sites. Each dive begins with a traditional dive briefing—what to expect, what to look out for, depths, and dive times—and, if you’re lucky, ends with a hot beverage in the colder months." - Katherine Cusumano

I had an amazing two-tank dive this week with the Blue Water crew and I can’t recommend them highly enough! From start to finish, the experience was top-notch. Chris, the owner and captain, provided clear, thorough instructions and kept safety as the top priority. His detailed descriptions and history of each dive site were fascinating, he’s a true Bermuda dive expert! Phoebe led my dives and brought such a fun, energetic vibe to the day. She’s incredibly knowledgeable about the dive sites and was extremely attentive to every diver’s needs. She checked all my equipment, swapped out my tanks, and used clear hand signals to communicate underwater, which made me feel confident and comfortable throughout both dives. We ended the day with a beer on the dock and by then, I truly felt like part of the crew. I’ll absolutely be diving with Blue Water Divers again!

I did a two tank lesson & dive with a friend. Had a blast! Visited two ship wrecks not too far apart, old ship parts strewn about. Saw a few fish - parrot, puffer, misc small fish. Perfect depth to enjoy being underwater! 🫧🤿

I got my Open Water certification with Blue Water Divers in May 2024, and it was such a great experience that I came back a year later and am already planning my next return in two weeks. Justin was my dive instructor and he was phenomenal. He was calm, clear, and focused on safety while still making everything fun and approachable. Captain Chris, the owner, captained our boat and shared detailed knowledge of every dive site we visited. He is a true Bermuda diving encyclopedia. When I returned this year, the same high standards were still in place. The operation is professional, well-run, great equipment, comfortable boat, and welcoming. Phoebe and Aaron are also excellent and bring great energy to the team. I cannot wait to dive with them again. I highly recommend Blue Water to anyone looking to dive in Bermuda.

We were supposed to dive with them May 29th, but their boat broke down, so the dives were cancelled. At least they refunded promptly enough. We actually saw their boat when our cruise was leaving (photo attached). Seems to be a pretty small operation; I counted maybe eight BCDs? The boat is clearly second hand, with a lot of hours on it. Disappointing, but what can you do. The thing about Bermuda is, it’s a small island. There’s one or two of anything, not a lot of alternatives. Something falls through, you are out of luck. Perhaps not the best place to plan much of anything. I’d enjoy the beaches, but dive elsewhere. Edit: looking at other reviews here and elsewhere, it appears the Blue Water Divers let us book a trip despite their boat being out of commission for a while. I wish they were honest about it - we could have scheduled a trip with the other diving company. I was really looking forward to that dive. The response by the owner doesn’t exactly add confidence either. Points adjusted accordingly. Bottom line: old equipment, a single boat outfit, the company will let you book even when they know they have a problem. Book at your own risk.

Team is above and beyond AND really taking care of all our safety: very professional safety and diving briefings, not the pro forma ones' I experienced with other diving centers in the Caribbean! Lea is a great instructor, had a lot of fun. 2 tank dive is great and the spots - including ship wreck - are breath taking. This is my first choice on Bermuda!

Had an awesome time out there. Was my first dive in over 10 years and the crew made it easy as could be. I did a two-tank dive and saw a cool sunken Sea Venture ferry as well as some breathtaking coral in the Blue Hole. Shout-out specifically to Phoebe for the great safety briefing and gear walkthrough as well as Justin for captaining as well as leading all of us around underwater. Awesome experience and highly recommended for anyone thinking of taking the plunge.

I took a “ recreational” beginners dive with Blue Water Divers and Watersport while on a cruise to Bermuda. It was wonderful. Justin was our lead and coach. ( for the beginner group) He made sure we understood what to do to experience maximum enjoyment and safety. Justin personally assisted me descending and stayed near or around me to make sure I was safe and enjoying myself.I must say everyone involved was great. The captain was very helpful in having me jump off the back of that boat! The Lady lead divers ( I can’t remember all if their names) were terrific also! I loved it!

My family went diving and snorkeling with Blue Water Divers and absolutely loved it. My Dad and I were first time divers and Phoebe was extremely thorough in teaching us the ropes and showing us some amazing reefs and wildlife. The whole crew was awesome- couldn’t recommend it enough if you’re looking for a great experience in Bermuda.
