Blue Water Fish

A small fish shop with limited choices but very fresh and high quality. They offer a catch of the day options (it was Black Sea bass this time). One can try a delicious soft shell crab and sea scallops cooked right off the oven. Plenty of free parking across the street. Nice!

We visited this place nearly ten times this summer for lunches on our ways from or to the beaches. Oysters are always excellent, lobsters are fresh and juicy, soft shell crabs are tasty. There is always enough outside seating. The staff is very friendly and attentive. Next summer we will be there again!

Cute little fish market with reasonable prices. They also prepare fresh food too. We shared the fried fluke po boy and it was very tasty. The French fries were very soft and and not crunchy, which we prefer but still good. Would buy fresh fish and prepared foods here again.

Love this place. They are friendly and tell the truth about when the fish came in as we eat raw a lot. We like to celebrate small business. Also make sure to grab a plant from the cutest small plant shop next door. We get a new plant each time we stop by.

Stopped in with my son to get the special of a cold lobster roll with fries or chips for the discounted price of $20. Apparently the discount is for online orders, but they honored the price for our in-person visit. The lobster rolls were freshly prepared (not premade) and served with lettuce on a particularly tasty, decent-sized bun. But the lobster salad did not fill up the roll; it was maybe half full. There were only two good-sized red chunks in each roll recognizable as lobster meat. The majority was white, finely minced pieces. Very heavy on chopped celery and onion, in a mayonnaise base. My son is not fond of celery. He expected SOME, but this had an excessive amount. He removed a good amount of the celery/onion mixture and was left with a VERY small amount of filling in the bun. We both enjoyed the flavor, and the lobster itself seemed fresh and well prepared. There just was not enough of it. We agreed it was a decent meal for $20, but would've been disappointed if it were the full price of $30. My son thought the fries were particularly good. I asked for them to be well done, and they did honor that request, as well as honoring the discount, all with professionalism and a smile. All in all, pretty good, but NOT generous AT ALL with the lobster meat.

I made the mistake of coming in while I was hungry!! I was so torn between the calamari salad and the stuffed clams, I just couldn't decide which one I wanted more. The clerk was super nice and she informed me that everything is made in-house. Saturdays are very busy so I would recommend picking up your weekend seafood on Friday. There are tables inside and picnic tables outside for those who want to eat immediately. Back for another visit to see what happiness I can bring to my taste buds. Today's selection was fish and chips, fluke in traditional fish and chips batter, hold the chips. Cooked fresh to order, was worth every minute of the 5 minute wait. This dish I can't, NOT recommend, even to people who don't typically eat fish. Yeah, it was that good!

Was googling for seafood restaurant in the area and found this gem with almost 5 star rating. We went and we’re glad we did. Food is so fresh and yummy! We had the lobster roll and shrimp salad on roll. Fries are so good! No need to come to Maine! So many options in the menu to choose from, which we plan to try each every time we come back!

Blue Water Fish offers a wide variety of fresh seafood, and menu for dining in or taking out. Their fresh cut fries are the BEST! Enjoyed the crab cakes and soft shell crab sandwich. Highly recommend this seafood shop.

What an excellent local spot for a delicious lunch! We ordered the blackened fresh tuna topped with a vibrant salsa and served with wasabi dressing and coleslaw, as well as the soft-shell crab sandwich with fries. Both dishes were incredibly fresh and absolutely outstanding. The outdoor tables are perfect for enjoying the scenery and relaxing in the afternoon. The service was excellent, and the store was spotless. I'll definitely be coming back...a true hidden gem for lunch!

The shrimp salad was freshly made and delicious. They have a nice choice of lunch specials as well. Really friendly people behind the counter. Almost all the tables were full and they were very busy with takeout orders. Happy I finally tried them and I'll definitely be back.

Fabulous people and food. We had the salmon, oregano, and the blackened tuna, which was delicious! Also, we have had their lobster and King crab, which were both delicious also. Thank you, great to have a good fish store in town.

What a great find! I have just eaten one of the best fried shrimp baskets that I've ever had. Crunchy batter and 5 nice-sized tender shrimp with a generous helping of hand cut fries. My partner had the lobster roll and fries and she loved it. The place is spotless. The guys behind the counter were really friendly, and the food was prepared to order and it showed. It came out piping hot ( except for the cold lobster roll), and the shrimp and fries were not the least bit greasy. Everything in the cases looked fresh and delicious. The prices were reasonable. This will be one of our go to places from now on. I can't wait to try more of their specialities and also take home some of the fresh fish as well. We will be taking friends and family there for sure.

A Wading River gem! Stopped by with my wife for raw clams. Beyond fresh. They were excellent. Business is owned by a wonderful friendly family. They have an extensive menu of entrees and fish sandwiches as well as their fish market.

My granddaughter and i went there for the first time. We both ordered the lobster dinners. Lobsters were perfectly steamed... tender and tasty. The dinner came with a choice of potato and very nice mixed veggies. You order at the counter and they bring the food to you. Friendly and caring service. We were asked at least 3 times if everything was okay. It certainly was. My only reason for not giving 5 stars is the seating. All tables are tiny 2 seat bistro tables. They did move two tables together so we'd have room for the waste but we were there late afternoon on a Wednesday and were the only diners. If it was a busy time I don't know what they could do for a larger party. When the summer comes outdoor dining could easily accommodate the larger groups. We will return to try their other items. It is worth a visit.

Blue Water Fish is a hidden gem, located on the North Shore in Wading River, NY. The staff always greats you with a smile. The crab cakes are fresh and delicious. Choose from a variety of fresh seafood or meals cooked to order. I am not a fan of seaweed salad, but I could acquire a taste for theirs. The atmosphere is very casual. Whether you dine in or take out, I don't think you will be disappointed.

We stopped by here few weeks back as we hardly venture out here. Saw this place on Yelp and it had somewhat of communal parking across the street. Be aware and observe the parking signs. Stepping foot, you could tell this is a mom and pop establishment where the workers know customers' name by first name basis. We were overwhelmed by both the paper menu and what's on the chalkboard. The employees are extremely attentive and friendly and answered any questions we may have. I ordered the seafood over pasta and let me tell you, the amount of assorted seafood of clams, mussels, and large size shrimps on the plate was astounding. I did wish the pasta sauce was a tad thicker. My wife ordered the baked fish along with shrimp and two sides. The presentation and taste was pretty good. All in all, very good place and we would certainly recommend.

Came in with bestie to have a quick fish dinner. We loved this place! We had the dish and chips and Shrimp Parm and we had 2 Manhattan clam chowders. Everything was delicious and service was fantastic. Our server was lively. She is studying to be a Veterinary Assistant and she was so lively. Highly recommend this cute spot. Everything about our experience was perfect!

Love this place! We were heading to Wildwood state park for camping, and pass by this seafood market shop. They have all kind of fresh seafood here. We ordered lobster salad and mussels pasta in red sauce for lunch. Portion is great! AND Delicious!! We appreciate the store owner offer some sticker and lollipops on the check out table kids. Definitely recommend this place !

Bon G and I were in Wading River to visit our fav Cheese Shop at East Winds Mall .... after we were looking for a place to stop for a bite. We had seen Blue Water Fish previously on Yelp and checked it out and found it was only about 10 minutes away on the North Road. When we got there we realized it was the road to go to La Plage by the water. Anywho, we went in and were warmly greeted by the staff. They had a large board with the offerings and we were starving. We started with a delish Lobster Bisque; creamy, tasty with nibbits of lobster. Then came a dozen fresh littleneck clams...they were just in and tasted fantastic. Next we had an order of Mussels in white wine and garlic. A large order with wonderful sauce on the bottom. No crusty bread available for dunking though . so a soup spoon had to suffice. Their cold cabinet was full of nice cuts of all kinds of fresh fish...very impressive. We saw beautiful shrimp salad so we took home a pound. It was Delish! def worth picking some up. Cant wait to return! BTW: 2+ lb lobsters were $20/lb with no charge for them to steam it for you.

Fantastic selection of fish and employees who take pride in their work! I appreciate knowing where the fish is from. They have prepared foods as well: the seafood with linguini and tomato sauce is great, as are the shrimp egg rolls. (I've heard that the fried shrimp is the best so will be trying that soon as well!) Their fried soft shell crabs and seafood cakes are great too! There is indoor and outdoor seating, and a parking lot across the street. We frequent this place and are so happy to have them in the area!

Holy moly what a hidden gem. Went here today on a whim bc we wanted seafood and glad I found this place. This is a seafood fish market but also has cooked food. The fresh fried sea scallops oh my goodness I dream of those. The service was great and they made everything so easy for us. The prices are also phenomenal for the quality of the food.

It's very bad business when you ask for your shrimp to be cleaned & deveined . Owner's / worker said No !! They just lost a $250 dollar order. I spent hundreds of dollars in their establishment, and they refuse to devein my shrimp... Bad, bad business... I will never go back again and I will tell my friends not to visit their establishment.

The service was friendly, accommodating, and the seafood was so very fresh! Great clams on the 2:2 shell and great lobster bisque!

I am a chef/caterer visiting my parents and we ordered take out for dinner tonight. I had the baked trio oreganata and I could not have made it better myself. The shrimp, scallops and flounder fillet were all cooked perfectly- very tender and juicy and the crumb topping was perfectly seasoned with garlic, lemon and parsley. It came with a baked potato, steamed broccoli and cauliflower and a half ear of what was obviously local corn. Homecooking at its finest and a steal for $25. I will certainly be back the next time I visit!

The soups are not fresh. The New England clam chowder does not taste like it should. Also, when you ask for a lobster roll, they don't chop up the lobster. The simply heat up a roll, put some lettuce and put the lobster. There is no seasoning in the food in many cases and the food is bland. Spent 50 bucks here and got very little value for momey.

Food was fresh and very good. Very clean no fishy smell Highly recommended. definitely worth the trip.

Wednesday for dinner service and was not very impressed. I wish the menu was a little brighter and the food a little less pedestrian. For a seafood dinner where fresh fish is caught and Sold from the Docks close by you would think that they would do a better job. Maybe next time, I'll be surprised and happy to, write a better review

Small place but they were super friendly and welcoming! Had a fried fish sandwich which was very good and fresh and a shrimp roll. Shrimp was large and tasty. Had chips as a side. They made sure we were happy and satisfied which mean they actually care about their customers which is super great nowadays! They have a few casual tables inside and a few picnic tables outside They have plenty of parking across the way.

Ordered take out this evening. My wife had the shrimp and chips. I had the cod and fries. The food was ready when they said it would be. It was hot when we got it home (1/4 mile down the road). The shrimp were larger than expected, nicely breaded (not too much / not too little) and fried to a nice golden brown. The cod was similar although jus a little more breading than the shrimp. Both were very flavorful. The staff was friendly and courteous and the price was reasonable. We'll be back...probably often since they're so close.

If you are looking for a fresh seafood market that is wonderful head to Blue Water Fish Market in Wading River. It was a little out of the way for me but so worth the trip. The fish is delicious, local caught when possible, and so fresh. Their soups are amazing too. The owners were incredibly nice and made sure I knew what I was buying and how to cook it. I also learned that when you go in just say hi Tom and you've covered everyone except for Andy who was extremely helpful. Tom, the original owner, was so pleasant and helpful. Shopping at this market was one of the most pleasant experiences I have had in a longtime. Do yourself a favor and check it out.

This place is so nice the setting is beautiful it's tucked into a bend of the road with a pond across the street with outdoor seating and a parking lot close by. The fish was really fresh for the fish sandwiches we got. Will definitely go back.

Owner and staff are always helpful and knowledgeable. Seafood is always fresh. Homemade meals and soups are a 10 out of 10.

Fresh fresh fish. Simply and well cooked. Friendly and helpful counter help. Drink selection limited but sitting in the fresh air overlooking the pond at a picnic table can't be beat. I almost wonder if the view out back is better if you can't get there

We've never eaten here before but wanted to try it as we're staying in Wading River and it's so close. We had friends visiting for the day and decided to try it as we wanted to stay local and be super casual. It was teetering on raining and the only tables available were the outside picnic tables but we decided to take a chance..... it's a very laid back place more of a fish market than restaurant. The staff couldn't have been more helpful. I had the fried soft shell crab sandwich with fries..... really outstanding. My daughter had the po'boy fried soft shell crab... she loved it. My husband had the fried scallop platter... we couldn't believe how many scallops he had. One friend had the Manhattan clam chowder, grilled swordfish and baked clams... raved. His wife had the mussels over pasta special and because she had to wait for hers they brought her extra mussels..... crazy and delicious. This is a great place for dinner, takeout or the fixings to make dinner.... Kudos and accolades to the owner and staff wishing you much success at your fabulous new establishment!!!!

zero stars. I went into the fish market for the first time and politely waited when a women came in and saw the man behind the counter. As soon as he saw her he went to help her ignoring me. The women didn't even say to me 'are you being helped?' I said thank you for ignoring me and I left. Di not go there unless you know someone who works there. Apparently they do not need new customers.

I had high hopes for this place. This was my second try. I live a half mile away. I love seafood. You would think the number one most important thing for a seafood place is they must know about fresh seafood. I really hate leaving a bad review. But never know maybe it improves over time and I will keep an eye out if it does. The lobster roll, 25 bucks, it is really lobster salad, nothing special, too much mayo and other stuff, can hardly taste the lobster. On cheapest hot dog bunds you find at supper markets. I have had better on air planes. The Soft shell crab, more like batter shaped like a crab again on the cheapest hamburg bun you can buy. Zero taste of a crab, No love put into making it, I think thousand Island dressing on the bottom of the sandwich. So my fingers were a mess in seconds, I did point it out and she did offer a new bun but I was not going to eat all that bread anyway. I will say the Cod fish sandwich was not too bad, for sure best of the 3. Too bad cheap hamburger bun. So moving up Blue Water to a 2 star for the cod. Then the other stuff behind the display, Steamers looked really sad, dry and tongs hanging out looking dead, if I was digging them up and looked like these I would use them for bait. Blue claws were so small, if I was catching them I am sure they would be undersized to take. Not sure how they get away with them. Clams were tiny and dry, the blue fin tuna I would never buy, did not look fresh. I have over 100 pounds in my freezer right now and I know what fresh tuna looks like. I eat mine raw all the time, not in a million years would I eat theirs raw. Anyway, I will walk in again some day to see if anything looks better. If my store I would make it my mission to have the best seafood on the planet. Workers were friendly and place clean. But I am going for food not to buy friends. Bill was 58 dollars for the three things we got. Waste of money, but I guess money is not what is used to be.

This is the first time ordering from Blue Water Fish. The shrimp platter and stuffed clams were delicious. We will definitely use them again.
