While this hotel boasts exceptional staff and service that would normally warrant high praise, our entire experience was completely overshadowed by one fundamental failure that made our stay utterly disappointing. The staff were indeed outstanding - their attention to detail and customer service was remarkable. The breakfast service was equally impressive with attentive waiters and quality food. Our room was clean with good entertainment options, though a damaged blackout curtain disrupted our sleep by letting in unwanted morning light. However, all of these positive elements became meaningless due to the hotel’s shocking inability to provide basic sleeping comfort. The bed was rock hard, and instead of proper bedding, guests are expected to sleep under scratchy wool blankets with only sheets - no duvets whatsoever. This is absolutely unacceptable for any hotel, regardless of rating. After one miserable night, I made multiple requests to reception for a mattress topper and duvet - basic amenities any reasonable guest would expect. Despite repeated promises from the front desk, housekeeping claimed they simply don’t stock these items. When they finally responded to our urgent requests, they brought another useless itchy blanket instead of addressing our legitimate needs. The fact that this hotel cannot provide something as fundamental as a duvet is unforgivable. No amount of excellent service can compensate for sleepless nights on an uncomfortable bed with inadequate bedding. What should have been a perfect stay was completely ruined by this inexcusable oversight in basic guest comfort. 1-2 stars - Cannot recommend until they address this fundamental accommodation failure.

Stayed in room 1315 with insane views of beach and ocean. Obviously renovated because clean and functional. |Buffet breakfasts were delicious and not short of choices. Coffee excellent|Blue Dolphin many screens to watch different sports and pizzas (Italian Bunny) were exceptional (and ridiculously inexpensive- half price). |Staff extremely friendly and helpful.|Location the best in Durban!! Promenade, Beach, Surf and Suncoast.

Always one of stops if we are in Durban. Get a sea facing room if you can. Plenty of rooms, have never struggled to get space. Great rates out of season. The downstairs bar is a must visit, great vibe. Just remember, if you order at the bar, there are specific ordering points, and, unless you make friends, they won't help you unless you order from the ordering point. Smoking allowed outside, weather permitting. Didn't have one, but the pizzas looked great.

We stayed here for holidays in December 2024 with a family of 5 in a family room 1116, after being recommended by one of their patrons .My goods were stolen in my room on the second day of our stay of 6 nights and 7 days , my big beach towel, my daughters black bonnet and my husband's beaded necklace, that turned me off completely, despite tidying up our house ourselves every morning before we go out. I only discovered when I wanted to go to the pool in the afternoon that my beach towel is stolen and on that night I also discovered that my daughter's bonnet is also stolen while she has to use it at Night when we were supposed to sleep and the following morning we discovered that my husband's beaded necklace is also stolen when he wanted to use it. This has made me to conclude that I will never set my foot there ever again and I will never ever recommend it to anyone. That was my 1st and last time being there. The housekeeping team did not treat us well at all because I suspect they are the ones who stole it since they are the only ones who has an access in the rooms. I also have some few things to complain about the housekeeping team again, the house was always not well cleaned, the only thing they were able to do was to make up our beds , the basin, shower and lounge table were left uncleaned always, floor not swept, the things that were used for room service were left unattended for days without being returned. Every time when we come back to the hotel we had to make a call for a toilet paper. It was not refilled after making up our room that was awful and tiring and they would bring one toilet paper per 5 people. On our 1st day we had to make about 5 calls if not more to ask for the TV remote until my husband had to get to the reception that's when we were able to get a help and only one remote was given to operate two TVs in a separate rooms and I found that weird. I had reported the matter at the reception the following morning after breakfast I was told they will make a follow-up ok sharp I accepted that. But believe you me I had to go back to the reception on our last of departure to enquire about the feedback only then I was told that they don't know what could've happened and they reported it to the housekeeping team , and I was even told if they can refer me to the manager I asked for what and the lady said just maybe you can talk to her/him. I said no because I was already running late for my flight back to Gauteng , also it seems to me that my matter was taken lightly hence they couldn't get back to me on time only when I asked about it and I had told the lady that it won't make any difference after talking to the manager. I wanted to go to the police station to report it while i was still there but my husband asked me to just let it go. It's only painful to have paid so much money for our stay to experience such an awful thing. The whole stealing saga changed my mood for my stay. It's very unfortunate that my children liked the hotel so much. They keep asking me when are we going again.

I was there for two nights. My room was in one of the upper floors. The view of the ocean was amazing. The room was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was nice and clean. Staff were extremey helpful. Breakfast (included) was sumptuous. All told, an excellent stay.

A lovely hotel with great views and overall I would recommend it but my stay was dampened by the terribly rude Food and Beverage manager, Mr Myburgh. A truly rude man, who has no customer service and who really soured my experience. He was terribly rude to my (pregnant) colleague- including inappropriately commenting on her weight with one of his colleagues. I hope this is dealt with. Other notes on the hotel: 1- the pools are nice, but don’t be fooled by what you are told, they are not heated 2. The advertised sauna was broken and had a cockroach in it 3. Big variety at mealtimes and nice room service options 4. Rooms have tiles- which is weird but understandable given it’s near the beach 5. There are free slushy machines! Which was great! 6. You get a Lindt chocolate every night!

Stayed at the Blue Water for a week on a holiday with my significant other. We had a great experience at the hotel, really great value for money and an absolutely great experience all round. We paid for a king sea facing room and stayed on the 13th floor. The room was absolutely great, perfect for what we needed as a base for our stay. The service from the staff was exceptional and all were very helpful and friendly, especially the waiters and security. Overall really happy with the service received. The buffet breakfast is superb and have a very wide variety on offer and enjoyed every part of it! The staff were super friendly and on the ball every time. I will say that for the money the experience was a ten and we will definitely be back!
