Had an amazing time at Blue Waters! The buffet breakfast was incredible, and the rooms were spotless. I loved every minute of my stay! The staff were fantastic, making the experience even more special. Well done, Blue Waters team - 5 stars isn't enough! 😊👍.

I stayed at Blue Waters Hotel from 29 October to 1 November 2025, and unfortunately, my first experience there was far below expectations especially given the hotel’s great reputation. To start on a positive note, Londeka and the team who welcomed us on arrival were absolutely lovely warm, friendly, and professional. They made us feel at home and gave a great first impression. However, things quickly went downhill after that. When we checked in, we were assisted by a trainee from DUT who was vague and unhelpful. There was no proper explanation about the room or amenities just a quick handover of the key card. When we got to the room, it was not properly cleaned, the bed wasn’t well made, and there were no basic toiletries (like soap and shower gel). I had to call twice before housekeeping responded, which already set a frustrating tone. Later that night, after returning from a gala dinner, we found water leaking from the fridge, which had defrosted completely. I slipped and nearly injured myself a serious safety hazard. I reported it by email the next morning, and Lisa (I believe she’s in management) responded promptly. She was exceptional calm, professional, and empathetic. She apologized sincerely and even offered a small complimentary gift. She’s the reason I didn’t check out immediately a true example of great customer service. Honestly, Lisa deserves recognition and to train the rest of the staff. Unfortunately, the issues didn’t end there. The bathroom door locked itself from the inside, trapping my husband until I returned to the room. Then, on 31 October, our room key card stopped working. After rushing up to the room and realizing it wouldn’t open, we went back down to reception. The lady on duty was extremely rude and dismissive, blaming me for “putting the card near my phone” and even remarking, “Why didn’t you just use the toilet downstairs?”completely unprofessional and unacceptable. She showed zero empathy or accountability. Overall, what should have been a relaxing stay turned into a series of frustrations from poor housekeeping and maintenance issues to untrained and rude front-desk staff. The only highlight was Lisa and the welcoming team on the first day. I honestly hope management takes this feedback seriously because Blue Waters Hotel has great potential, but the current standard of service and maintenance has dropped drastically. Sadly, I would not return based on this experience.

The place is well kept, the rooms are decent enough, staff members are very nice and prices are quite affordable. Their swimming pools are also well kept, there's even a heated indoor one. Their food is also nice, I enjoyed their pizzas very much and they have a special going for each day. I've been there twice already this year and will definitely go again

OBTOBER 2025. OVER RATED. SHOULD BE A 3 STAR. I witnessed how the F&B manager was abusing his power, body size and race towards breakfast staff while having his breakfast at ghe same time as hotel gessts. It was very traumatic event. Staff should eat before or after the place is open for business or in the hotel cantin. The breakfast tables are in a extremely bad condition that you plate or glass cant seat straight. A lotof bacteria can by filtered on the table cracks. Rooms are very old designed. This hotel is not updated. Was good during the 80's. Rooms are dark. No iron in the wardrobe. The glass windows are dirty and have a blue film on top peeling off. The curtains smell. Staff at restaurant are friendly. Breakfast food is dry and overcooked sausages. Location is 5 minutes away from where all the less fortunate people are. Best thing to go to the Casino Hotel if you'd like to be in that area.

Went to the Blue Dolphin bar at Blue Waters Hotel. What a vibe!!! The service was excellent and the ambience was awesome. We received first class service from Cheryl. She is a true ambassador of first class customer service. She was on the ball and ensured everyone was taken care of. Will definitely recommend this place.

As this hotel is situated rite on the beach front, it is a hidden gem! The rooms are decent, could do with a slight upgrade but the housekeeping staff are always there too look after you and the rooms. The reception staff are very friendly and great at what they do ! Even though the hotel is popular and the reception staff are mostly rushed of there feet, they are professional at all times. Then there is the Blue waters Bar, well where too start, Bessy, is a great continuation to the team, as she seems too hold up the bar by herself, but off course it’s team work, but not all staff are aware of this. As we where here for a few nights recently, we where approached by “what can only be described as the (white manageress) that demanded we pay with cash ( strictly none cash bar) is advised on the bar itself, as a form off tipping her! The fact we where told that she wanted us too tip her in cash was a put of from interacting with her at all , and disrespectful to her fellow bar staff!! My husband thought he saw her passing on a substance to one or two other people, which left us wondering what she was up too? The rest of the staff bar one or two where extremely helpful and worked well, with the bar being at party level, “ Bessy” held the bar together and was very capable of the task, at hand, well done Girl, keep it up! We didn’t understand how you can put a white lady that doesn’t speak the language or understand that customers are there too relax, can be in charge!! Especially when she sees customer's bringing in there own food and drink and does absolutely nothing about it, and goes to the only lady on duty to rectify the problem. And such a task should be handled by a male member of staff, or the manager. But as this was delt with by “BESSY” , you done well. And you have showed the (white bar manager) how to run the bar and its standards!! Well done Girl, keep it up !!

The location is excellent, and the hotel itself is stunning. Our room was spacious, and I really enjoyed both the indoor heated pool and the rooftop outdoor pool. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Breakfast was satisfying, and the modern design of the hotel, paired with its amazing views, made the experience even better. I’ll definitely be coming back, they’ve set a new standard for me.

Blue Waters Hotel is an amazing place to stay in Durban! The staff are warm and welcoming, the rooms are clean and comfortable with beautiful ocean views, and the location is perfect right by the beach. I also loved the little touches they even offer you chocolate every night, which makes the stay feel extra special. Highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Durban!
