The Blue Winds Tea Room is a must go to stop when visiting Green Gables Heritage Place and all things Lucy Maud Montgomery in Cavendish, PEI! While planning our trip to PEI, I was searching for an authentic high tea experienced inspired by the "Anne of Green Gables" author, L.M. Montgomery and found this amazing and quaint house turned Tea Room. It's run by a fellow "Anne" enthsiast, Terry... who is the sweetest woman! I emailed her to make reservations for 6 people for the time we were there. While she did not have space on the days she is open... she chose to open her tea room for our party on a day she is typically closed! Very special indeed. Our six course high tea consisted of a tea ofnour choosing. We also had to try the delicous rasberry cordial and Terry's famous rhubarb punch. Next came our choices of tea sanwiches made on home made bread: cucumber, creamy egg salad, and ham. The next courses was a buttery shortbread and airy scone. The courses kept coming with rhubarb tart, choclate eclair, and delectable cakes. She even made a vegan scone and rasberry choclate cake for my mom! Her featured dessert, New Moon pudding, is from Montgomery's own cook book! We felt so spoiled and pampered by the end of our amazing experience. Terry is an amazing cook whose heart has been about tea experiences for the last 20+ years! You definitely do not want to miss this experience! Be sure to book a reservation!

2022 update: The food, people and place are still amazing. Terry & Mark put together a wonderful to go order to take with us this year. (Dine in still an option, we're just still doing take out only right now) 2019: Terry is amazing. The atmosphere is lovely, and the food is wonderful. Small dining area is intimate surrounded by lovely art inspired by the region. [Pictures: desert from dine in 2019, beef curry from take out order 2022]

We are kind of high tea lovers. We look for high tea opportunities everywhere we travel. In PEI, many tea rooms offer only afternoon tea and regular desserts. Blue Winds is the only one offers not only high tea, but also scones with clotted cream as well as homemade ice-cream. We enjoy the tea, scones, clotted cream, green tea ice cream and everything there.

Delicious food and refreshing beverages. I wanted to try a bunch of drinks they offered. The woman was very polite and hospitable, and everything was really cheap for the amount of food we got! I would definitely come back if I was around the area!

If you are doing the Anne of Green Gables pilgrimage, you cannot miss the Blue Winds Tea Room. The owner was inspired to move to PEI from Japan by LM Montgomery and her tea house embodies the spirit of her books. Mix that with amazing homemade drinks (you can't miss the rhubarb punch), and the heartwarmingly homemade souvenirs, and you get the best unofficial Anne experience. This tea house is the best hidden gem in PEI.
