Bluebird Café & Grill

Today we had the pleasure of visiting Bluebird, and believe me, it does not disappoint. When you see a 4.8 rating, you arrive with high expectations, but in reality, even that rating feels understated. The food was exceptional, fresh, beautifully prepared, and full of flavor. Every dish reflected great attention to quality and detail. A special mention goes to Melody, the hostess who took care of us. She is the true definition of professionalism and genuine hospitality. Melody was incredibly patient in explaining all the ingredients in each dish, making sure we felt comfortable and well-informed. She struck the perfect balance between being attentive without ever being overwhelming, something that is genuinely hard to achieve in customer service. Thanks to her, we felt welcomed and treated like regular guests from the moment we arrived. Overall, we had a wonderful experience and truly enjoyed the warm atmosphere, outstanding food, and excellent service. We left already looking forward to our next visit. Highly recommended.

5 stars for the customer service. The food options were great. I had the Pollo Parmesano. Melody was really attentive and friendly. The person who I think was owner was really friendly as well. Place for packed after we got in around 330pm. Looks like a popular place. Little details like blankets on the bar seats, in case it gets to cold from the entrance or free birthday ice cream was a nice touch. Highly recommend. Parking available free next to the restaurant in a municipal lot.

I came here for a little holiday dinner treat, and it definitely met my expectations! The space is warm and inviting, the staff is friendly, the music is enjoyable, and the subtle Christmas decorations added a nice festive touch. The holiday drinks were a great addition. The Penne Palermo was absolutely mouthwatering, and the Woolwich Roasted Goat Cheese & Crostini, though it looked like a simple arrangement, was surprisingly tasty and enjoyable. Overall, a cozy spot for a meal with great food and a cheerful atmosphere!

This is was one of the best restaurant experiences we have had in a while. Our server Melody was so friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. We had so much fun chatting with her. The pasta is sooooo good, no complaints at all. Their homemade cheese cake and baked banana was the perfect dessert to end off our lunch. We will definitely be going back!

This restaurant was recommended to us immediately after we moved to Orangeville. We came for dinner, and the staff and owners were so welcoming and friendly, and we saw right away why this is a popular spot. In addition to the great people who work here, the food…. The food is fantastic!!! Made from scratch, with love (yeah that’s right, you can taste it!); their menu items are all incredibly delicious. Their food is the culinary equivalent to a warm hug. Last but not least, you don’t make your bank account cry when you go to Bluebird. It’s well priced, and the quality is excellent. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

I had an overall pleasant experience at Bluebird. All of their pasta is made from scratch and tasted excellent — both the white and tomato sauces were delicious. The mussels were very fresh, and the sweet potato soup was flavorful, though a bit on the salty side. The grilled calamari had a nice charcoal flavor but wasn’t particularly memorable. The pizza was good, but the bottom was slightly burnt. One thing to note: since the kitchen doesn’t have a fryer, they don’t offer any fried items, not even French fries. The server brought us the bill without us asking, and later came by to check on it. It felt a bit rushed, especially since we were only there for just over an hour having a late lunch. I understand the indoor space is limited, but there were still some empty tables at the time. Hmm…

Service was great, food was great,atmosphere was fantastic. Definitely would recommend this restaurant, you would have to make a reservation because it was a Wednesday evening and we just walked by and went in and it was full, but we got room at the bar, still great service at the bar, same food. It was delicious, kudos to the owner and to the staff that he has on site

Just ate at the Bluebird for the first time. Absolutely fantastic. The servers were great with the guests going through the menu items. Food was great!! Met the owner Rick (who knows my daughters) Congrats on having such a wonderful gem. We will definitely be back

An unforgettable dining experience at The Bluebird Café in Orangeville -- where exquisite service meets absolutely incredible food. This family-owned gem radiates warmth the moment you walk in, with everyone greeting you like an old friend. We started with the grilled calamari, perfectly tender and full of flavour, followed by the short rib with mashed potatoes -- hands down the best we've ever had, melt-in-your-mouth perfection. Paired with a classic Negroni, it was the perfect evening from start to finish.

Others may have mentioned already that the 'cafe' part of their name can be a bit misleading as this is effectively a regular full service restaurant and bar. It's not very casual and not a place for coffee or premade deserts and sandwiches - if that's your understanding of 'cafe'. But it is very much an institution in Orangeville having been going since 1989 and still going very strong. To illustrate, the fairly large dinning room was practically full for lunch service on a regular Tuesday. I sat at the bar (which is in a separate room) and looked at the various options from the lunch menu. There's quite an extensive drink menu, and it was cool to see that the 4 draught beers were all local. I went with the Caledon Hills lager which was fantastic. The chicken wrap was a safe choice, but based on the description it seemed to hit the spot for the somewhat lighter lunch I was looking for: grilled chicken, bacon, lettuce, tomato and herbed cream cheese. It was all as described. Nothing to blow me away, but hit the spot and the ingredients were great and I enjoyed the cream cheese which seemed to be made in house (the blend at least). Again, this place is somewhat high end however, with it being about the cheapest item on the lunch menu ($17) and it didn't come with a side. Service was great. It seems to be a running theme through the reviews, so looks like you should expect the same. It's definitely enough to warrant another visit and try dinner sometime.

We came for lunch and left already planning our dinner date back. The staff were just wonderful. Genuinely warm and kind, the kind of place where everyone seems to love what they do and it just radiates through the whole experience. It felt like being welcomed by family. The food was so good. I had the chicken cordon bleu crepe, my husband had the veal, and we shared a Caesar salad that we're still talking about. That dressing was phenomenal. Everything tasted like it was made with real care, which it was, scratch kitchen all the way and you can absolutely taste the difference. Honestly just a fantastic afternoon. Can't wait to go back. Highly recommend!

Service was impeccable. I can tell they truly treat everyone like family. If I had to describe their dishes - it'd be elevated comfort food. Very rich in homey flavours, but refined. Make reservations for the weekends because they will be PACKED. We got in as a walk-in for late lunch and were sat at their bar seating. We ordered: -GRILLED SHRIMP GORGONZOLA (5/5) absolutely divine. The shrimps were big & juicy. I could DRINK the sauce - but thankfully we ordered some additional bread to soak it all up :p Even so, we had extra sauce that they encouraged us to bring home. We repurposed it & tossed it with some plain pasta at home! 2 dishes for 1, love it. -BLUEBIRD CHOP SALAD (4/5) definitely a filling salad, great portions -WOOD FIRED OVEN PIZZA (4/5) we got a seasonal flavour, it was overall good with a thicker outer crust

We were treated with a smile right away. Love the feel of the place. Food came pipping hot and delicious. We will be back.

Good food and service. If I had to complain I'd say the chicken Cesar would have been much better if the meat was fresh cooked instead of fridge cold. Maybe a bit of anchovy in the Cesar dressing wouldn't have hurt either. The salmon appetizer was wonderful, less the massive amount of head lettuce.

The food was fresh and delicious, the specialty cocktail was refreshing, and the service was outstanding. The patio was perfect for dining with my pup. The server offered us a cooling mat and brought a bowl of ice water along with the special menu for dogs.

Service was amazing. Our server was so attentive throughout the entire duration of our time at the restaurant. We stopped by before we went camping after some friends discovered this restaurant with high ratings I ordered the chicken sandwich and it was HUGE. It was also delicious, I never usually finish my food especially with that huge of a portion, but literally I finished it and my boyfriend was surprised. It was that good. My friends really enjoyed their pizza and pasta dishes as well.

What an exceptional experience! I was in the area for Polar Rush in Albion Hills Conservation park and a friend of ours who lives in the area recommended that we come check out Blue Bird. She raved about the pizza and the overall experience. We arrived on a Saturday at 3:30pm and got lucky to get a spot for 2 people. This place was still filled with customers enjoying their meal. We got seated and our server Melody told us the features. We ordered the sizzling mushrooms as an appetizer, a Catanzaro pizza, the featured half rack ribs with mash potatoes and rapini, turtle cheesecake & apple crumble with vanilla ice cream. For drinks we had a mango mule and a tequila cocktail! Everything we order was seasoned to perfection and tasted delicious. This restaurant is one of the best place I've been to in months and Melody our server was very attentive, bubbly and very friendly.

The food has always been of a consistent quality and standard; it wasn't on Tuesday the Penne Palermo, a personal favourite, was oversalted and gritty. The serving staff are excellent bur the owners need to realise that ;if one has a booking and there is a table available at that time, one shoudl be given that table; it shouuld not be held for favourite customers.

Food is fantastic. Especially the pizza and pasta. We have never been disappointed. The service has been a little slow but we'll worth the wait.

This restaurant is much more than a Café! We enjoyed lunch on the patio, surrounded by chill jazz & mellow tunes. The wood oven pizza was excellent, sirloin perfectly cooked and chef's special, linguini in a miso sauce, chicken and seasonal mixed vegetables. What a great decision to add scallops and shrimps to our dishes! Also, all dishes are customizable to your liking!!! White chocolate cheese cake with fresh raspberry compote had a perfect creamy texture and tangy flavor finish. Service was friendly, efficient & courteous. 100% recommend this place!

Excellent service !! our server Mallie is amazing. Our party of 10 had an amazing experience. The food is superb with good price. I had the special of the day :curry mussle: it is sooo good and fresh. The staff are all very friendly and helpful.

Great good! Been going here for 35yrs or so! The stone oven pizza is a favorite in town! The baked French onion soup is soo good! Great job!

We had a great experience we went to dinner with some friends the food and the service were both great. They found out that our friends had just lost their house to a fire. And they ripped up the bill it was totally unexpected. But just goes to show what a great town Orangeville is. It was such a kind gesture I know will always remember that.

August 2022 - Arrived around 2:30pm (no reservations) on a Saturday afternoon and we 4 were seated outside patio without waiting. Staff were friendly and attentive. We 4 shared the started GRILLED SHRIMP GORGONzOLA and added extra shrimps ($4) so each would have 2. Comes with a basket of bread to dip in the gorgonzola sauce (yummy!!). 3 of us had pizza (Ferraro, Catanzaro and Florence) and the other the Seafood Cannelloni. Absolutely DELICIOUS!!! Thin crust pizzas and tasty (we were in Rome in July, and these were better!) Food fairly priced for the portion and quality. Will definitely be recommending to friends and would go back when in the neighbourhood next.

Bluebird Cafe & Grill is located in the heart of Orangeville. In the time of coronavirus Stage 3, COVID protocols are in place. Upon arrival, I was greeted at the door and a table in the patio was sanitized, before I was seated. On a warm and sunny day, the patio offers pleasant seating, while still maintaining distance from other patrons. The lunch menu offers a wide variety of options, ranging from starters, soups, salads, sandwiches, pastas, pizzas and entrees. I opted for the Vitello Pugliese (medallions of veal with double smoked bacon and blue cheese). The dish was nicely prepared, and the blue cheese was not overpowering; two mini roasted potatoes provided the right amount of starch, and the side stir fry vegetables were light and fresh. Service was very good and friendly. Street parking available. TLDR; good food, nice patio, friendly service, recommended

If you are ever in Orangeville, this is a great place to try, especially during these COVID times because their website makes ordering take-out a breeze. The staff is friendly, the food is succulent, and the picnic tables just across the street make this an ideal spot for people who can't find a seat on the patio. We settled on this place because they had a friendly kids menu designed by someone who has a kid or knows children. I'm leaving a review because the kid's menu was a great dish rather than some reheated mess you sometimes find in restaurants. My children have high standards (another way of saying picky eaters?), and they loved the angel hair pasta in tomato sauce. As for the adults, the lasagna and fettuccine primavera were delicious. On the latter, the vegetables had a nice char that gave them a smoky quality. If all veggies were like that, finishing them would never be a chore. We had the featured entrée, which on that day was a supreme of chicken and was terrific! It was truly exquisite. The pan jus was succulent, and the tiny grapes complemented the dish really well. It was truly exceptional. I believe the featured entrée changes daily, or weekly, so you'll have to see what's on the menu that day, but if you are hesitant about the higher-than-average price of the dish, I can say wholeheartedly that our chicken dish was well worth the money. Finally, on a side note, I truly appreciated the staff that helped me carry our order to the picnic table across the street. They didn't have to, but they went the extra mile. It's places like these that make Orangeville a magnificent destination.

I was taken to The Bluebird Cafe for my Birthday. Upon entering, I found the restaurant to be pleasantly decorated and obviously much better than just a diner. These staff were very friendly and so was the Manager. The prices were not bad and the selection was mostly Italian, but included steak and chicken dinners as well. I ordered the pasta of the day, which came with double mushrooms and bacon, basil in a creamy Alfredo sauce. It was heavenly and a large portion. The sauce was made with real cream and very flavourful. Oh, I can't forget the garlic bread. It was nice and garlicky. We ordered half with cheese and half without. This is enough for two, maybe 4 (4 slices, total). We finished it all off with white chocolate cheesecake with a raspberry topping. Out of this world. Don't miss it. I'm from Brampton, but wouldn't hesitate to make the drive back to dine there again.

Lovely servers and host. The menu has variety but the execution is not there. Avoid tomato sauce pizzas, it tastes straight out of the jar, missing Extra virgin olive oil. The other pizza with potato and cheese was tasty, definitely not recommended if you're watching calories.

The French Onion Soup was to die for and even the kids Mac n Cheese was phenomenal! All the servers were so friendly! Will definitely be back when we are the area!

My husband and I tried Bluebird for the first time in February for my birthday. Food was incredible Drinks were amazing! The service was fantastic The atmosphere was energetic but yet quiet enough that we could have a conversation We have been trying all the restaurants in town and let's just say - we are consistently saying "it's no Bluebird"

I love their calamari, pizza and dessert! 10+! They are always busy so make reservations. Love this place.

Have eaten here numerous times over the years. Said l would never go back after the rude service in the past. New owners took over The food while not bad in the past has improved as well. Customers are no longer barked at nor are employees yelled at in front of customers. Keep up with quaility food. Pleasant service and reasonable prices

Went for the first time with my friend because we heard so many good things. We started with the mussels and they were fantastic. There was some sauce left so we asked for bread and they gave us 4 pieces no charge. The pasta was also delicious and will defdefinitely be going again!

Great lunch, lots of laughs with our hilarious server. Family birthday party for five at lunch. Location convenient, comfortable seating and wonderful specials. Most of us had pasta, and it was incredible all-round. The daily special of gnocchi with mushrooms was one of the best my wife and I have ever enjoyed. Highly recommended!!!

So incredibly blown away by the incredible food and service our group of 7 received. Starting with the amazing Rick who went that little bit extra to find a way to accommodate us when our original reservation needed to be adjusted-to the exceptional wait staff. Never have I ever felt so attended to ! Every single staff member we encountered ( and they have A LOT of staff) was engaging and smiling and friendly. What a refreshing experience ! The food was incredible ..... zero complaints. It arrived all together and it was piping hot ! They let us linger over our meals and drinks. They didn't try to rush us out so they could turn the table over. As soon as we told them we had to get going as we had tickets for the theatre they expedited cashing us out by bringing in two servers and two debit machines !! Amazing experience from start to finish ! We will definitely be back and we might even bring our husbands LOL

We recently moved to the Town of Orangeville and this restaurant was recommended by a couple friends as well as any website you go on to look for local restaurants. All I can say, is wow!! From the moment you get there, the kind and courteous welcome. To the attentiveness of our waitress (Melody) and a couple others was bar none the best we've seen in a long time! The ambiance is classy but comfortable! We couldn't help admiring every dish that came out of the kitchen, already planning our next visit with each plate that came out. The food... let's talk about the food. I've added some pictures here with plate names on them. The food is as exceptional. Each bite was even more delightful then the last. Amazing, great tasting food! The cocktails are pretty great too! We definitely would recommend this restaurant to anyone and everyone who enjoys Italian and/or grilled great cuts of meat! It is pricey, BUT even if it's somewhere you go once a month or once every three months. Or even if you're just passing through. Do not miss the opportunity to have an excellent meal with exceptional service!

Seated promptly per reservation time. Service was quick and efficient. Melody, our server, provided good guidance based on our questions. The whole staff works together which says a lot about management. Rick and Michele were lovely and so welcoming to non locals. Food was fresh and delicious . Drinks were good as well. We started with calamari, which is not your standard chain restaurant fried app. It was fresh and delicious with a great dipping red sauce. My hubby had the daily pizza special which was fresh and tasty, the crust had a nice consistency. I had the Pollo Bluebird which was quite satisfying and had great flavor. We will definitely return upon a return visit to Orangeville or the surrounding area. Thanks for the lovely evening in your restaurant and hope you and your staff enjoyed the Blue Jays game!

Service wasn't exceptional and we felt rushed. The restaurant was a little busy but not crazy so we couldn't understand why we were being rushed. The atmosphere was nice but a little snooty for for my liking and for the type of restaurant it was. My pasta dish was quite tasty but far to oily and salty. My husband ordered lasagne which was very good and tasted homemade. Based on the service which is as important as the quality of food I receive, I doubt I will return.

3.5* The word "café" in their name is a bit misleading as the interior is more like a bistro than diner, re: there are wine glasses on the table and interior is dimly lit. However, prices aren't crazy high. Pizzas/pastas are like $12/13. So higher than your average lunch spot, but not over-the-top. Bowtie Pepperoni was delicious. Client sopped up the remaining sauce with the table bread. Pizza (Ferraro) was alright, not as good as the pasta. Contrary to some of the reviews, I found service pleasant. Most servers were middle-aged women and ours was very nice and efficient. No complaints. Great place if you want a nicer sitdown meal in the area!

I visited the Bluebird Cafe about two weeks ago and had a great lunch on the patio. They had propane heaters and offered blankets - a nice touch. The minestrone was excellent, the service was very attentive. I'll be back!

The food at bluebird is always amazing. They could use a few more new appetizer options. Our waitress wasn't as attentive as normal, but still good. My wife had the Pasqualotti Fufferelli and i had the Fettuccine Pesce, both extremely delicious!! For the moderate prices and amazing food definitely my favourite restaurant in the Orangeville area. Highly recommend!!

An awesome restaurant! The food and service is always amazing. Wood Fire Pizzas and pasta dishes are always our family favourites. Most importantly, always leave room for the dessert - the White Chocolate Cheesecake with raspberry sauce is so good!

I can't say enough for the Bluebird restaurant or the Bluebird Takeout. We rely on it as our go to in Orangeville. When Company comes to visit this is the only place we take them to. They are never disappointed . I can't name a favourite dish as they are all perfect !

The service and ambience were extraordinary! We will be moving to Mono Mills next month and decided to check out the neighbouring town's downtown shops. We stopped at bluevird cafe for a bite to eat and were not disappointed. We didn't realize we needed reservations but because they were not as busy (it was an hour before the dinner rush would begin) the staff was very polite and accomodated us with a table. They were awesome and we did not feel rushed at all. The food, although a bit pricey due to it being a higher end fine dining place, was amazing. The flavours and freshness really impressed my husband and I, along with our 2 friends. We can't wait to go back here and have their food again. I absolutely loved the Pasqualotti California Roasted Trio. (Fresh pasta filled with roasted garlic, sundried tomatoes, and ricotta cheese served in a light pink sauce with roasted sweet red peppers, Bermuda onions, and topped with roasted almonds)*copied the description from the website. This dish was just unbelievably delicous.

Food was okay, nothing particularly special. Honestly a little disappointing. My husband was most disappointed in the size of their stake.

Stopped by for lunch and enjoyed a good pizza and soup of the day. The wood fired pizza was called the "Florence" and featured finely chopped bacon, chicken, fontina and grana padano cheese and avocado and arugula. Nice flavours. The crust is awesome. A little heavy on the arugula topping and the avocado could have been more fresh. Overall, really good though, I would enjoy trying more items on their menu for sure. Soup was very nice, as was the delicious bread on the side.

We stopped here for pick up after a hike at mono cliffs. We had the Napoli pizza and the bowtie pepperoni pasta. They hit the spot! Pizza was fresh out of the oven, sauce was abundant and fresh, generous with toppings and enough to share between two. My husband devoured the pasta. Wishing them well in these difficult times!

This amazing place has a good and lovely atmosphere. The owners are nice people, and trust me, they know how to make a pizza. All the pizza is brick oven cooked and the daily soup is always superb. I rate this three stars only due to the price but other than that you should probably where a tie. Very good but pricey.

My family and are staying at the Millcroft Inn and Spa. The woman at check in recommended several local restaurants. We settled on the Bluebird Cafe and Grill and I'm glad we did. The waitress was very attentive and friendly. My wife asked if they could cook her scallops with vegetables instead of pasta. The waitress said yes and when the food came the scallops were with a delightful presentation of stir fried vegetables. I asked if they had nonalcoholic beer and they had the best nonalcoholic beer of all, Erdinger. Our daughter ordered the cheese pizza. The crust was perfect. It did not get soggy in the middle. The Italian Sausage and pasta I had was tasty and the tomato sauce had a nice spicy taste. We had deep fried chocolate covered bananas and a fruit crumble for dessert after the owner stopped by our table, asked how our meal was, bussed some of our dishes and told us the desserts. I loved the crumble, it was compoted fruit sprinkled with oatmeal. If you are ever in the quaint little town of Orangeville go to the Bluebird for supper. You be very happy that you did. Oh, and there's a great shortbread bakery down the street as well.

Went here despite reading mixed reviews. Waited fifteen minutes to be seated despite having a reservation. Food was only mediocre. Service was slow slow slow. Food was brought at different times and we eat were served at different times. Do not recommend

I was looking for a place to eat before we went to the Orange ville theater production of Annie, and was recommended by a co worker to go to the Blue Bird Cafe. After a bit of browsing around the main street we headed to the Blue Bird Cafe for dinner( reservations recommended on a weekend as it was full by 6:30 (the bar had 5 stools which were full) The restaurant is very nicely decorated and had some hints of blue accent, hence the name! we ordered drinks, Martinis-- The Raspberry Munk. We were told that this was the owners signature drink. VERY good we ordered 2! dinner choice, very hard to decide what to choose as there was quite a large selection. we ordered a spinach salad to start and it was FABULOUS!! it had a blue cheese and apple slices and sugared nuts in a poppy seed dressing. If you like this combination, order it! our main dishes we ordered: Pasta Polo Feta( chicken feta with mushrooms,peppers,onions and feta ) Was very tasty and the portion was huge. the other dish was Polo Vaino ( chicken with 2 HUGE scallops in rose wine sauce) the scallops were delicious and the sauce on the chicken was tasty. we had no time for dessert as we had to dash over to the theater for 8. we did return after the show for dessert and coffee and even though they were closed ( they had a few people in there finishing their drinks) they welcomed us in for dessert. we we truly not disappointed!!! We ordered a lemon cheese cake with a raspberry topping. soooooo good!

Spent the weekend in Alton and came here for lunch. The atmosphere is casual bistro, but the food quality was more like fine dining. We showed up on a Saturday during the lunch rush, so maybe that was why the waitresses were a bit abrupt, and they literally *ran* from the dining area to the kitchen. I deducted a point from the rating because of the rushed service and lack of friendliness. However, all the food we tried was absolutely amazing! We had the Bruschetta, which was loaded with olive oil and garlic - delish! The Sizzling Mushrooms with red onion, scallions, and feta cheese knocked my socks off! We also thought highly of the Penne Alla Feta, the Greek Salad, and the Crepes Cordon Bleu. We had all that, plus soft drinks, and the bill was still only about $50!
