Bluebird Fish Camp

Passing through and needed to find a place to eat lunch that’s near I10. TripAdvisor rated this place high so checked it out. Glad we stopped! Location on the bayou was perfect while eating “home cooked” food. They know seafood! Hamburgers were good but the seafood better! Fried green tomatoes good too. Shrimp burger was perfect for lunch. With the trip and cute place!

The deep fried crabs (blue) are the best version of crabs I’ve ever had. They’re cooked just long enough to break down the softer parts of the inner shell segments so you can really just bite right through it all. I was even able to munch the smaller parts of the legs up a good bit (haha, I bet that has some people cringing) Their seasoning in their breading is excellent too…and just the fact that they are able to get breading to stick all over the entire crab, maybe it’s not so hard but I’ve never seen it done so beautifully. I didn’t get a photo of the plate when it showed up (I’m really bad about that) because I was just too excited to tear into them. I only ordered 6 and I was stuffed afterwards. This really looks like a great place to spend the entire day. Launch your boat, spend some time fishing, hang out at the covered picnic tables. I didn’t see any but I’m wondering if they have cleaning stations to where you can gut and clean your catch. Also wondering if they’ll cook your catch for you. One thing about my 5 star rating on atmosphere…this isn’t a fine dining establishment, although the dining is more than fine. It’s laid back, come as your are, comfortable and family friendly. There’s room enough for larger groups and two separate dining areas, inside and outside but outside is more like a fully enclosed patio area.

Don’t judge a book by its cover—Bluebird Fish Camp is a hidden gem! The burger was phenomenal, cooked to perfection with amazing flavor. The fried shrimp were perfectly breaded, crispy on the outside and tender inside. The authentic scenery adds to the charm, making it a cozy and genuine dining experience. Plus, the prices are very reasonable. Highly recommend for anyone looking for great food in a charming setting!

This is a must stop if you're in the area. Old fashioned small town goodness!! The beautiful owner taking your order was very gracious. The food was amazing.

Great place to eat in orange! The creole burger is amazing! The staff is always really friendly and all orders are cook to order. The pork chop sandwich is great along with the cheese burger. Highly recommended for lunch if you are around town.

This is one of the best locally owned restaurants in our area. The food is delicious and the views are spectacular. You can dine inside, sit in the sun room or there is an outdoor patio over the water!!

🌕🌕🌘🌑🌑3-1/4 Lunas. Food was as small as a biscuit, nothing special on the burger but needs seasoning atleast. Onion rings so bland also. View was nice outside on the back porch. Employees were a come and go type personality.

Hands down best burger I've had in a while. My mom lives in Kentucky and insists on going for the crab legs when she's visiting 10/10 recommend

this place is in a nice location to take a rest from I 10. You can eat your food inside or on the back porch and look over the peaceful bayou area. There's plenty of parking. When you arrive, you order with the ladies at the first counter. They will bring your food out to you. They were friendly and I loved how they asked if I wanted the burger "all the way." I had to ask what that was . So that means make it with everything. Yep! It took about 20 minutes to get our food and it was blasting hot. We ordered the four chicken wings, french fries, one pork chop, and a burger. Everything was tasty but the pork and chicken were a little over cooked / dry. Judging from the reviews, this isn't the norm. The fries were hot and plentiful; we only ate half of them. All in all, we're glad we stopped here.

From the greet inside, the food, and everything about this sweet quite atmosphere was great. Very friendly Owners. The view itself was amazing. We really enjoyed everything and can't wait to return back.

Service was exceptional very welcoming people. Peaceful ambiance. Food was mediocre i got the cheeseburger it was okay. The onion strings were very greasy and not enough crisp but once i got home a put them in my deep fryer and added a little seasoning and they were great. Fries needs seasoning all i taste was the grease on them.

If you haven't been to Bluebird Fish Camp, Restaurant. Orange Texas you are missing out. If you haven't been in a while, stop back in and pay them a visit. Delicious handmade burgers and so much more on their menu, nice spacious patio overlooking bayou, super friendly people, and quick service all at a great price. Two bacon cheeseburger baskets with a choice of fries or onion strings, and tea or canned drink for less than $25. Definitely a hidden gem that is worth venturing out of your way.

Great atmosphere and fantastic food. Fried green tomatoes with crab salad? Over the top! Great gumbo and a really solid, classic old fashioned burger. The sign says it all, this is THE place to eat :)

We loved this place! The staff is friendly and helpful. The restaurant is right on the river: we watched folks fishing and even saw an alligator. Chain saw sculpted cypress decorate the exterior of the building. It adds to the bayou ambiance. We got ample proportions of fish. The oysters were incredibly delicious. Cooked perfectly!

Hamburgers are very good, the service is excellent Haven't tried the boiled crabs but they look huge and amazing , georgeous atmosphere!!!

I had this placed bookmarked for years. After making a trip to Lake Charles, we stopped by for a recharge before hitting the road again. So glad we did. It's a casual environment with inexpensive food options and beverages including wine and beer. Fresh crab, shrimp, fish, and all the sides. Beyond the seafood items, they have burgers, fries, and more. Very nice outdoor patio overlooking the water. Do not pass this place up.

We stumbled on this place just off I10 and what a gem! The burger is to die for and was cooked to order. And we watched a small gator lazily meandering in the water as we ate. Great food and atmosphere- who could ask for more.

Awesome food. This is the best fish I've ever eaten. My wife doesn't even like fish and she liked it. Definitely low-key. It's actually a tackle store with a restaurant.

Awesome place. Good people. I enjoyed eating right up on the water. Great fried crab brisket sandwich was the best! Pork chop sandwich was quality but a little dry and could have used a little more seasoning. Overall great experience. I will be back. Not sure what his name was but the bald black fella was super nice gave me great suggestions and I can tell he takes pride in his craft. Very good dude.

Visited this eatery for the first time today. Very casual atmosphere but delicious food. We had hamburgers or should I say we had the best hamburgers ever!! We knew the food was going to be good because of the line of people! And they still had a line of people when we finished eating and was leaving. The food was very delicious and service excellent! If you haven't tried this place, you need to...you won't be disappointed!! We will be back!

I was headed to look at a car at the dealership in Orange. Took a wrong turn and passed by this place. Looked kind of sketchy but lots of cars around it. We said we wanted some seafood. Well we go to the dealership and drive a few. Find one I liked and they were cleaning it. We decided after several hours to go eat. We asked a couple of people about it and they tried to lead us elsewhere. I wanted to try this place because they are usually the best places. It didn't disappoint!! Really clean inside. People inside and out were super nice!! And the food was off the charts! I ordered the fish and it said two pieces. Pictured small ones, but nope! Fresh, fried to perfection and delicious! Served with fries or onion strings, salad and toast! My mom and friend ordered the shrimp and they were delicious also (I had to taste them). They were huge and tails off which made them easy to eat. We ordered a side of onion strings, which were great and some fried pickles (don't judge) they were good but I had so much food I shouldn't have ordered them!! I give them 5 stars because I couldn't give more! And I let the dealership know they need to be sending people there! One guy said they had great breakfast!

We loved this place. Great view on the water, very friendly staff and the food was great! I had a shrimp dinner and my wife had an old fashioned burger. Both were perfectly on point. They had a live band playing some good ol Cajun classics, the atmosphere was so chill and welcoming, a really good time and we can't wait to go back. They also have a boat launch on site.

The food was excellent! We got burgers, fried shrimp and a grilled cheese. No one was disappointed. It's Saturday, they had a live band and lots of boats moving around. The atmosphere was very family oriented! They are a mom and pop and brought big smiles and great service!

A definite diamond in the rough! This place has a lake ramp and offer air boat tours down the swamp. And you can go fishing. But the best art was their restaurant!!! Can I just say the nicest people ever and the food was so amazing. We ordered the shrimp platter and the fried crab. Shrimp was huge and crispy and seasoning was on point. The crab was hugeeeee!!! And so damn good. The restaurant was very causal and homey. Very inviting! It was also very clean and cool. We will definitely be coming back!!!

Great little hole-in-the-wall joint. Very casual with friendly service. Order at the counter, find a seat, and soon a delicious hot burger appears in front of you. Grab a canned soda out of the cooler and dig in. I got a the "everyday special"... bacon cheeseburger, fries and a canned Big Red. It's not a huge burger, and it's served on a little paper plate barely bigger than the bun, with fries served in a paper boat. They're not trying to be fancy, just tasty. It was delicious

Dont pass this up! If your looking for a small and casual restaurant with great personal staff and fantastic food. Here it is. We had the bacon cheese burgers (Fresh Patties) fries and drink for $8.75 each. I added a egg and double the pattie for $2.50. Absolutely Fantastic. They have fresh seafood that is hand battered. Clean restaurant and restrooms. I suggest sitting outside by the river.

Delicious! Oscar is working hard to make this place in to a very cool stop! He is starting with the food! The brisket burger, creole burger, and shrimp burger were fresh and oh so good!!!! Rodney came out of the kitchen to make sure that we like what we had gotten! Super casual, great spot to grab a cold one from their reach in, kick back and RELAX!!!! Covered deck that even in the heat was breezy and perfect. If u like to fish, you can do that too!! Perfect kick back sport!

What an awesome lunch stop on our drive to Baton Rouge, highly recommend!!! Food was delicious & so fresh, and the counter service very fast and NICE PEOPLE. Absolutely no reason to go to chain fast food instead. Our oyster burger, brisket burger, & hush puppies were great. An older building but very clean inside, relaxing view of the bayou and you can request your fish grilled instead of fried if you prefer.

Great little lunch stop! Driving through on a road trip and was hoping to see some gators. Had some great burgers and fries on the covered patio while it rained. Afterwards, we walked along the shore and saw a gator swimming! Super exciting for us Californians. Very friendly place and pretty scenery!

A friend told us about this spot but did not elaborate with any details other than the food was good. You order at the counter and they bring the food to you. The service was good. The fried crabs were excellent. The fried shrimp was good. Sat on the patio, it was a cold day but heaters warmed the room. Overall, it was a good place to stop by.

Delicious food, great family atmosphere in a fish camp style setting. Best onion rings ever. My wife finished the patty melt, something she rarely does, and said "that is awesome".

Burgers were excellent and the staff was super friendly. They treat you right. It has been quite some time since our visit and don't know how they are handling the COVID situation but our visit was a great experience.

I didn't know this place was open until my father-in-law took my wife and I there. We all got the shrimp dinner and it was pretty good for a new restaurant. We want to go back and try some of their hamburgers. They have dine-in and take-out.

Bluebirds is amazing for cheap. Hamburger homemade not frozen and delicious. Shrimp burger had great taste. Gets packed at lunch... make sure you make time as the place is very small. Or take to go. Fast service. We will be back!

What a Gem of a place! I had the smoked brisket burger with onion rings and it was Fantastic! They really do have the best burgers around!

My neighbor and I went to the Bluebird Fish Camp this evening and had the shrimp dinner. It was near perfection. Shrimp are sweet and large and the batter just right. Those onion strings are to die for! The outdoor patio is the icing on the cake....very relaxing and a nice view. We watched some guys fishing and some ladies crabbing. Only thing that could make it a 5 star rating is to replace that not so great salad with coleslaw. Highly recommended ... and we will go again soon.

Just find out about this place. My sister brought a home a fried porkchop that literallyso good. One of the best I have eaten. I had to go to this place. There location was kind of hidden but this is definitely one of the best honey holes in the area. There food is delicious and there service is outstanding. I definitely recommend. I'm definitely going back for more..

I had the creole burger and onion rings. The burger was amazing. Just the right amount of fried shrimp on top. Onion rings were made from real onions not frozen and the batter was really light. Nice clean and bright. And the people and owner were so friendly. It is worth to stop!

The restaurant is on part of the Sabine River and overlooks a cove. The hamburgers are delicious...as are the onion rings. Don't expect anything fancy...it's a fish camp. Fun place to go for good food and nice people to serve you.
