"Bluebird Microcreamery, Fremont by Wintr. An adorable ice cream shop a few steps from the heart of Fremont. They have everything you could ever ask for, the ice cream is unbelievable, and they make the cones fresh. Plus, they have vintage (working) milk shake machines."

Bluebird is only average in my book. Their ice cream is excellent – especially Snickerdoodle! – but their service and waffle cones hold them back. Good value for scoop size. The Fremont location is bike-friendly. Bluebird makes their own ice cream in small batches. My home shop is the Fremont shop, so the ice cream gets delivered from the Capital Hill location. There is not a lot of variety in my opinion, but what they do have is very good. My favorite is definitely Snickerdoodle. In fact, it's one of my favorite flavors from any shop in the area. Theo Chocolate Chunk is also consistently awesome. My wife and I keep trying the coffee ice cream but it's always disappointing. The waffle cones here are homemade. They taste great so I keep getting them, but they are way too weak and have broken prematurely 90% of the time. (I've gone a lot so it's a large sample size.) Last time, the bottom of the cone had a leak and ice cream actually seeped through the sides of the cone because it was so thin! They use a scoop to put batter into the waffle iron so all of the cones are consistent. I wish they would start using three scoops of batter instead of two... I'd consider Bluebird to be a bike-friendly business. They participate in Bike Benefits (15% off with the sticker) and there are racks right outside the door. It's also right off of the Burke-Gilman trail near the Fremont bridge, so it's easy to get to. The primary reason I only gave them three stars is the really inconsistent service. Some scoopers are really friendly but some seem annoyed at having to help you. The bigger problem is that we have been charged incorrectly on numerous occasions. For example, they have mixed up split scoops and double scoops, and they haven't applied coupons consistently. To be fair, I mentioned these concerns in a recent survey and the owners (I'm assuming that's who responded) responded right away to address my concerns. In any case, do yourself a favor and make sure your bill is correct before paying. There is limited seating, so it can get cramped if you come at a busy time.

The coffee ice cream is delicious. I also tried the orchata one but it's too sweet for me.

I went there in the beginning of July. The smell of waffles guided me into that gem. Unfortunately the waffles weren’t vegan, but two types of ice cream were, so I tried both. They were SO DELICIOUS! Types: Horchata. And. Coconut mint chip. I’m sometimes a bit fed up of the normal sorbets like mango, strawberry... because I’m longing for chocolate or nut or something else. So it was fantastic to see they had very different options! Try them out! And I hope in the future they might also offer vegan waffles! I think there is a high demand.

I've tried many of the renowned ice cream places that are so often talked about in Seattle, and this was definitely the best so far. I split my scoop between chocolate pudding and cb's peanut butter and it was delicious. One thing I will make note of is that many of the flavored were out - sign of good flavor a but it can also be disappointing if you wanted them...

Always really great service with laid back employees, and during the summer you can expect to probably wait in line, but they get through it quickly. During the summer and nice Fall evenings, they have been known to run out of flavors, and would regularly run out of waffle cones. Love the Theo's Chocolate Chunk, and they also have some fun experimental flavors as well. Getting it fresh from the shop in a fresh waffle cone is always supremely better than trying to get a packed pint at Markettime (I'm not sure if it was the grocer's freezer, but the ice cream tasted freezer burnt). My only real complaint is that, like most things in Fremont, they close by 10PM during the days they are open, and this location in Fremont is also closed Monday and Tuesday.

The ice cream was delicious (strawberries and cream in a cup with whipped cream & a cherry) and the service was great.

This review is based solely on the customer service aspect of this restaurant. My 13 year old and I drove by at about 930pm one evening and saw about 10 people enjoying ice cream, so we naturally stop to check it out and order some for ourselves. Horrible idea. Turns out the place was closed. That's cool. If you're closed. You're closed. I get that BUT the chick behind the counter didn't convey that. She let be known quite loudly that she had no interest in our business (which is cool. You're closed) the tone was what bothered us not to mention the awkward "sheeesh" looks from other customers as she chased us off. I'm guessing the food is good though. Just don't stop by at closing.
