We had a fantastic visit to the BMW Museum. We’d booked the guided tour in advance, which started promptly with a lovely tour guide who was friendly, engaging, and brilliant with our children (age 9). The tour lasted just over an hour and covered the majority of the museum, with plenty of fascinating facts about the exhibits. I highly recommend booking the tour – you get fast-track access, headsets for clear audio throughout, and the chance to see under the bonnet of some of the cars. On arrival, remember to store your belongings in the lockers downstairs. We had a quick stop in the museum café – the selection was fine but limited – and a browse through the small gift shop. Overall, it was a great experience for the whole family.

BMW Museum has 2 electronic counters to purchase tickets, some families struggled to purchase the better deal out of so many options displayed on the panel. In order to lock the bags, you have to walk downstair to their locker rooms which are next to toilets. The whole museum doesn't have sufficient ladies room to meet the amount of visitors especially when the big toilet (with lot of cubicles inside) is down for cleaning. The souvenir shop is extremely crowded and packed like a square can. BMW vehicles are definitely beautiful to look at but the whole interior layout is all over the place, you have to pay close attention on the exhibition number and the map so you won't miss anything.

I recently had the opportunity to visit the BMW Museum in Munich, and it was an incredible experience from start to finish. Located right next to the iconic BMW Welt and the company’s headquarters, the museum offers a fascinating journey through the history, innovation, and design legacy of one of the world’s most renowned automobile brands. The architecture of the building itself is striking and futuristic, setting the tone for what’s inside. The exhibitions are well-curated, showcasing everything from the earliest BMW models and motorcycles to the latest concept cars and technology. I especially enjoyed the chronological layout, which gives a clear sense of the brand’s evolution over the decades. The interactive displays, historical documents, and multimedia installations made the visit both educational and engaging. Even if you're not a car fanatic, the design, engineering, and storytelling on display are impressive and worth experiencing. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable, and the museum shop had a great selection of BMW merchandise and memorabilia. Highly recommended for tourists in Munich, families, and anyone with an interest in automotive history, innovation, or German engineering excellence.

The BMW Museum is well worth a visit, even if you’re not a huge car enthusiast. The building itself is impressive, and the exhibitions are really well done, with classic models, concept cars, and a look at the brand’s history. The museum is modern and pleasant to walk through, but even though I arrived just after opening (10:30), it was already packed. By the time I left, they were limiting entry because of the crowds. Backpacks aren’t allowed inside, but there are free lockers where you can store your things. (1 € deposit returned when you collect your stuff).

Google
Excellent BMW exhibits and concept. We spent two enjoyable hours there. The café on the ground floor is a bit pricey. Beautiful display of the history of BMW engines and cars, as well as their concepts. Absolutely worth seeing.

Google
Amazing museum, especially for BMW fans and car lovers in general! I really enjoyed seeing the evolution of car design and technology over the years. The exhibitions are well organized, with plenty of interactive elements to explore. As an international student, I was happy to get a discounted entry — definitely a nice touch! The museum is big, modern, and full of iconic models. A must-visit in Munich!

This place has been one of my dreams for such a long time but I finally made it here. It’s so wonderful. It wasn’t too crowded towards the end of the day but I recommend online booking in advance. It was so easy to get there by public transport. Such amazing and helpful staff. I wish I could give 100 out of 10. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE BMW AND THIS MAKES ME LOVE IT EVEN MORE ♥️

Google
The BMW Museum is architecturally stunning, with a modern and futuristic design that reflects the brand’s identity. The building’s iconic bowl-shaped structure stands out, and its interiors are clean, spacious, and thoughtfully designed for a smooth visitor experience. Entry prices are reasonable, and the experience is well worth it—especially for car enthusiasts. You can easily spend 2–3 hours exploring the museum, making it a great value for both individuals and families. The BMW Museum is a world-class destination for those interested in automotive history, design, and innovation. Its combination of style, storytelling, and interactivity make it more than just a museum—it’s an experience. Visitors can explore BMW’s history, innovation, and design evolution. Interactive displays and multimedia elements make the experience educational and engaging for all ages.

Yelp
I'm a big fan of German cars and I couldn't miss this opportunity to see the history of this great company. I loved all the sections (22 in total) and the unique iconic cars either design collaborations with Italian designers. Unique vehicles and entertaining displays. Loved it!
google avatar

Yelp
I've owned several BMW cars and motorcycles so on this trip to Munich I was determined not to miss the BMW museum. Even if you're not particularly into cars, this place is amazing! Over 3 floors of exhibits tracing back to the first cars ever produced up to their concepts for EV's and even a 3 story wall of suspended motorcycles, including their world renowned boxer engine. A self paced tour will take you through incredible displays technology and innovation and reveal things you never knew about BMW. Take a look at their early airplane engines or the cutest little car of all time - the Isetta. Highly recommend spending a few hours here. Buy a souvenir too!!
google avatar

Yelp
The museum itself was amazing but parking is not intuitive with poor signage and it said free but had to pay to exit and we blocked the lane until someone could come down to help. We weren't the only one because two other people had to do the same thing too. Sorry to any locals who had to wait on us. We ate lunch in the cafe there and it was good and seating was nice inside and out.

Yelp
As someone that has been driving BMW for the last 20 years and only driven BMW's to say that I was excited to see this museum would be an understatement. It's located in beautiful Munich at the BMW headquarters. There is also the BMW Welt but you need tickets prior to arriving for that because that is mainly new vehicles and technology based where at the museum you can get your tickets at the door. We wanted to do the Welt but the ticket times were sold out so we just did the museum. It is very large and it's spread out over multiple floors with about 30 different exhibits. I saw each car that I have driven in there and learned a lot more than I did prior to entering. Pricing is fair and the exhibits are really well done. There used to be a Michelin star restaurant in there as well but that is no longer there but they do have a really nice gift shop when you enter. It's hard to name my favorite exhibit because they were just so many. I would highly recommend to any BMW fan or to anyone visiting Munich.
google avatar

Mike S.

Yelp
Great museum with a lot of history! There were a wide range of BMW's including motorcycles.
google avatar

James H.

Yelp
When you're in Munich visiting near Olympic Park check out the BMW museum. it's a short train ride from Munich. You don't need to buy tickets in advance but when you do visit, you'll have to leave your bags in lockers. There's also a small coffee shop when you enter the museum. It's a spiral downward walk as you look at the exhibitsmaking your way to the ground floor. It's a very educational experience on the history of BMW and you get to see some of their old technology and their feature technology. It's a half-day visit unless you're really into cars and want to know every detail about BMW.
google avatar

Yelp
Really cool place! Lots of cars. BMW, Rolls Royce and Mini Coopers. Some activities and so much to see. We didn't have time to do the tour so we will need to come back.
google avatar

Roberto Y.

Yelp
Nice and modern museum. Plan to spend about 2-3 hours and complement the visit by walking across the street to the BMW Welt. Between the two places you might spend 3-4 hours. There is lots of history on BMW. I believe they don't have air conditioning, but not quite sure. But the day we went there was no A/C. The family enjoyed the visit to the museum and the Welt. I don't think I would go back in the near future, but it is a good place to go if you have never been to.
google avatar

Jay B.

Yelp
You can do a guided tour which is an hour long. Our tour guide was great. Most questions we would have he answered when giving out the details of each respective room. Because we had a little time left at the end he was able to give us more tidbit info about BMW. This place is a must for car buffs or those that love history. There's so much information here in the museum about the cars. I didn't feel they had a lot of interactive activities inside the museum but the BMW Welt which is right across from the museum does. There is a cafe there. They do run out of things so be prepared just incase you visit them after the lunch crowd.
google avatar

Dan A.

Yelp
Second time here for me and it only gets better as they rotate the collection periodically. We wanted a guided tour but they were sold out even at a couple of months in advance. Display had a good amount of new and vintage that would satisfy any Enthusiast. You walk into a beautiful 1500 and1800 and the path provides a historic perspective mixing in the motorcycle collection as well a room with a few engines on display. We enjoyed the 3 series section that starts with a 1966 1600 and ends with a 2006 335i. The hanging logo plate display was impressive. The video room was a miss as although there was a film playing we couldn't hear any sound and weren't sure what was being shown. More cars are at the lower levels. 850, Z8, Z1, M1 and my favorite the 89 M3. One car that wasn't here last time is.Elvis' restored 507-displayed in a separate themed area. Light fare and coffee were available in the Cafe. The Gift shop was in the main building and had a good selection of merchandise and we picked some up. BMW park is a stop on the Gray Line Bus City Tour. Overall, a must visit when in Munchen!
google avatar

Robert H.

Yelp
As a BMW owner this was a must. The museum is awesome and one of the few times I have spent time reading the details about the items on display. I didn't take the factor tour because 1 1/2 hours just wasn't my cup of tea at that time. I'm not spoiling anything with pictures, so if in Munich you must check it out as well as the BMW Welt across the street.
google avatar

Yelp
An experience of a lifetime! If you love cars, history & technology, this is a MUST SEE. The motorcycle wall & 3-series room were really cool! Seeing all of the model changes & classic colors on these vehicles were amazing. The installations of art are so cool. The engine displays are also rad. Seeing the "German Engineering" & all of its evolutions would be fascinating for car lovers & others alike. The flow of the museum kept everything so fluid. Would return if in the city. What a joy!

Yelp
How can I go to Bavaria and not visit the museum of the BMW company? I've been to the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn and a couple of other car museums. This is just as good as any of those. It's a beautiful building with two main setups. On the one side, a well organized exhibit spirals its way up from the ground floor to the fifth floor with a complete history of the company from its initial origins with its evolution through making airplane engines during the First and Second World Wars and into the modern age. It then goes beyond, talking about BMW's foray into electric and connected vehicles. I found it really interesting. The other side has several dozen of BMW's more famous and less famous vehicles, all in better than mint condition. Approachable but don't touch! The BMW i8, 323i, a 1963 BMW 1500 and my favorite, the 1939 BMW 328 with the swept fender. It's an amazing collection and well worth the time for anyone who has any interest in vehicles. Of course, there is a small cafe and a gift shop. The shop has several different sizes of model cars, BMW memorabilia and clothing. Prices were reasonable. [Review 12010 overall, 1793 of 2019.]

Yelp
Why is BMW so anti environment? When I asked where the water fountain was for my refillable water bottle, they insisted I buy plastic water bottles. More contribution to environmental waste. Shame. BMW. Shame.
google avatar

Judy L.

Yelp
This was seriously the coolest museum ever! If you're a BMW fan or just a car, you must visit this`museum! You'll learn about the great history of BMW and how the brand came to be. We took the factory tour museum and it was the coolest factory ever! Every car is custom ordered and their flawless manufacturing is so satisfying to watch. This museum is HUGE so I suggest that you pencil in about 3 hours without the tour. With the tour I would recommend about 5 hours. Wear the comfiest shoes you've got!
google avatar

Brett N.

Yelp
Why 5 stars? Because this was interesting, even for non-car buffs like ourselves. --- --- --- We were on a bit of a time crunch and arrived with only 35 minutes before the museum closed. When you combine the fact that we aren't super into cars and that we were very rushed in this experience, it would seem tough to fathom a 5-star experience coming from this. But really enjoyed it! As much as I enjoyed the cars, I was really amazed with the architecture of the building. Every corner that we turned was a new design surprise, which was engineered more perfectly than the highest end BMW in the facility. But as for the cars themselves, I think my favorites were some of the concepts. I really wish some of them had actually been made, especially the ones that looked like BatMobile's. I'm guessing there was good reason that those never saw the road, but it definitely wasn't because of their looks. Whether you're a huge car nerd... or not, this is definitely worth checking out when in Munich!

Yelp
OMG this museum. Must must must in Munchen. It's everything there: technology, beauty, perfection, efficiency. Love love love. Dios mío este museo. Es un must en Munchen. Todo está ahí: tecnología, belleza, perfección, eficiencia. Amo amo amo.

Yelp
What an amazing experience to come to the BMW Museum. My husband is a BMW fanatic, and he only agreed to go to tour Europe for two weeks if we go to the BMW Museum in Munich, Germany, so we did. Great place to see the history of BMW from past to present! My husband was so happy, he looked like a kid in a candy store. I think I will order my next car so I can pick up in Munich in the next few years.
google avatar

Bonni R.

Yelp
We had initially (months ahead of time) booked the combi tour of the Welt and the museum but when we decided to cut our vacation down by a day, we did these two on our own. That worked out great, as we were able to spend as much time as we wanted and didn't have to stay with a group. The only thing we didn't get into was the Plant - which would have been our top choice but the tours were booked months in advance. The museum tour was 7 Euros per person for members of the BMW car club and 10 Euros for general public. The museum is open and light and filled with great vehicles - everything from motorcycles to new electric cars and even had a section for Mini Coopers. I am not a great car enthusiast but it was a really fun, interesting museum with so many cool vehicles. It's set up perfectly on several levels so it never felt crowded. The signs were in English and they also have free WIFI so you can download the app and do an audio tour if you want to. And of course there's a gift shop at the end - which wasn't overly priced. We got there on a stop from the Grayline Hop on/Hop off bus (which is how we tour most cities now) with stops there every 20 minutes.
google avatar

Megan L.

Yelp
It's a very cool museum right in Munich. It's not like super fun but it's cool and interesting seeing all the different kinds of cars and motorcycles. You can even sit in some cars and on some motorcycles.
google avatar

Adam C.

Yelp
As a car and cycle buff..it was an interesting museum..lots of displays of the history and highlights of bmw. €10 admission....should be €5 tops..imo not really worth it...a giant sales pitch..and gift shop.. Go across the street to the welt..free admission..and yes lots of BMW ... As promised no sugar coating. I'm sure a million BMW fans just died of a heart attack..the imo one cool thing was the 1938 magnesium frame and body car..nice
google avatar

Yelp
A must visit for every BMW Fan! A great place to witness the past and the future of BMW.

Steph G.

Yelp
As a BMW owner and avid fan, this was something I have been wanting to check out for some time. Sadly, I had never stayed close enough to make it worth while. My hotel was a quick 7 minute drive and I was excited to see the museum. When you arrive, the drivers will usually drop you off across the street from the actual museum. That part is FREE. You get to see the newer BMW's that are pretty sweet and they also have a Rolls Royce and Mini Cooper section. They have a cool gift shop which has way more stuff than the one at the actual museum. So get your shopping done there! Cross the street and you'll arrive at the museum. It costs 10€ for adults and you can either join a guided walking tour or do one on your own. They have translations on the history of BMW, read them! Lots of interesting information about how BMW came to be, especially during such difficult financial times for Germany. Work your way from top to bottom. At the very bottom they have an amazing collection of some of the best sellers in history. If you're a car fan, it's something totally worth the 10€ alone. There are some cars you can get into, just not the older ones.
google avatar

Lucy W. H.

Yelp
A lot of fun, cool and sleek architecture. You will want a BMW afterwards, fair warning, which is why they really ought to charge less for admission. This would give you more money to put towards a BMW. Quite crowded, this museum is very popular attraction. See this before you go over the BMW Welt and hear drivers test driving at crazy speeds, driving your eardrums crazy.
google avatar

Justin C.

Yelp
Really cool place to visit in Munich. Little far from the downtown area. The fee is little pricy. You need to pay the locker for you are not allow to bring it. Worth to look around.
google avatar

Melanie M.

Yelp
Let me start by saying that I didn't really want to come to this place, but my husband really wanted to. I'm soooo glad he did!!! First - the price is incredible- 10€ only! In the USA this would have been at least double that!!!! My favorite parts were the history of BMW. There is so much I didn't know, and have no doubt already forgotten again but it was so awesome! Even if you're not into cars, this place is a must see!
google avatar

Alex R.

Yelp
I came here once, It was amazing experience except one little thing before we left. Saw so many BMW's, prototypes, mini coopers, motorcycles on the 2nd floor and also an area to play Forza on Xbox. Right before we were leaving, I was looking at a couple BMW's that were open to the public to observe on the main floor when i was approached by a woman, she asked me how are you, and where are you from? I said California, right away her mood changed and said these BMW's are off limit and i have to skiddaddle(shooing me away). (Not Welcome vibes) from her. She said something to my cousin in German that i didn't understand and she just said let's go and we left. Some people are too old fashioned that live in the past still.
google avatar

Yelp
The automobile as art and commerce. Because what is this place if not a modern art/engineering exhibit? I am sure this is a must visit for every BMW enthusiast while in Munich. But since I've never owned a BMW, I just wandered through the museum and enjoyed daydreaming about what it would be like to own the different vehicles while sitting in a convertible, hopping on a motorcycle and lounging in a M5. It is like going to the largest automobile showroom you've every seen without the pushy salespeople. The museum is absolutely massive and modern and one part of the BMW complex which also includes the manufacturing facility and car delivery center. There are seven exhibition halls, but only some are open to the public and free. If my boys were with me, I would have checked them in to the Junior Campus next door at BMW Welt (World) where your 7 - 13 year old can explore interactive exhibits and build their own BMW. There are also childrens' workshops which require registration. This museum very clearly caters to BMW owners and private events, but I still felt it was a worthwhile experience staying in the free public areas. Many new BMW owners make the pilgrimage to Munich to pick up their car where it was built, so you see them lined up as their dream is coming true. If you don't feel like laying out that kind of cash, they have a large gift shop with tons of BMW branded merchandise. No deals or discounts there. The museum is part of the Olympic Park Complex and I enjoyed spending time in both areas. I'm sure if I was a BMW owner, this would be a five. Some day...
google avatar

Cathy C.

Yelp
I don't recall seeing F1 cars since BMW pulled out from F1 almost a decade ago...the JPM, Ralf Schumacher, Nick Heidfeld and Mark Webber days. We got here late and they were ready to close so, we rushed through the museum. For this reason, I dropped my camera and couldn't find the battery. I was only able to take pictures of the cars in front. If you're a fan of BMW, own a BMW or you're just a car enthusiast - you need to visit this museum. You'll see the oldest models, race cars to pimped out M3's and electric cars. They have restaurants/cafe and a merchandise shop where you can get all things BMW. Umbrellas, shirts, RC cars, bikes, golf clubs, keychains, mouse pads, car accessories, books and a whole lot more. This is connected to the dealership and showroom. The factory and headquarters are also nearby. You can get here via metro or cab.
google avatar

Ronny Y.

Yelp
It has always been my dream to come here as a kid, the place did not disappoint at all. As a fan, enthusiast, one would easily appreciate the vast amount of history the museum provided. Place is self explanatory, come visit and you won't be disappointed. I was like a child in a candy store the whole time!
google avatar

Bobby S.

Yelp
Relive the history of this automaker and kickass innovation at display. Must visit for the timeline of evolution of cars.
google avatar

Michelle R.

Yelp
I'm not a huge fan of BMW, but when I'm in Munich, it's a nice place to go. This place has free Wi-Fi, many great cafés, and a pretty decent museum. Visit the museum before going on the pre booked tour, and you can avoid a lot of crowds. The tour is about 2 1/2 hours, and well worth the price. Unfortunately, no cameras allowed. There's parking under ground, which is charged per hour, and tops off at €20, or take the public transportation. Validation available if you eat at the restaurant.
google avatar

Marc M.

Yelp
A must visit for car enthusiasts if you're around Munich. It's a private museum that pays homage to BMW's racing history with endless cars in ///M racing livery. There are also motorcycles and some plane engines. Very cool place to enjoy the highlights of BMW racing and also a tour through the history of the brand, and the genesis of different models. Next door is BMW Welt where you can see the current BMW lineup along with Mini and Rolls Royce. There is also a cafe and gift shop.
google avatar

Riccardo S.

Yelp
As part of my BMW European Delivery experience, I was offered a ticket to walk through the hallways of BMW's past before I picked up my new car to enjoy BMW's future. My only regret is that I hadn't done this fantastic tour sooner. Full disclosure - I'm a "petrol head", and have had half a dozen BMWs so far in my life. I love BMW cars old and new, as well as their motorcycles. This museum has at least one of every historical model, as well as some of the earliest aircraft engines from WW2, boat engines, and F1 cars. You'll see some of the racing history of BMW, as well as a very honest look at BMW's history as a company - including pieces on their use of forced labor during WW2. I was fortunate enough to attend the museum at the time of BMW's "Next 100 years"strategic launch and anniversary, so the museum's temporary exhibit space (a spiraling walkway upwards) had a retrospective on the cultural and historical changes BMW has gone through in the past 100 years. I spent half a day there, and I felt rushed. There's more to the museum than just the (gorgeous) cars, and I'd encourage you to explore each of the written and interactive displays to get an interesting sense of how the social upheavals of the past 100 years impacted and were impacted by consumer trends. BMW was both a beneficiary thereof as well as a change agent, and this museum can provide a unique perspective of both German and global history through the lens of this plucky little company that hasn't ever given up.

Yelp
A trip to Munich would not be complete without a visit to BMW Welt (World) and Museum. BMW, or Bavarian Motor Works, is headquartered here. BMW Welt features displays of the latest BMW's and MINI's. Free Admission. A pedestrian bridge connects BMW Welt with the BMW Museum. The BMW Museum boasts an extensive collection of historic BMW automobiles, motorcycles, concepts, models, and engines (including aircraft engines). Admission (single ticket): 10 Euros. Notes: I would estimate it taking 2-3 hours to view all of the displays in BMW Welt and the Museum. At the museum, backpacks must be secured in on-site lockers (coin-operated, 1 Euro). There are a handful of on-site restaurants to meet a variety of needs (a quick snack, coffee, or a full sit-down meal).
google avatar

Ashley P.

Yelp
I work in racing so maybe going to this museum was more in my wheelhouse (see what I did there?) but myself and my boyfriend both got enjoyment out of this museum. Tip for tourist: if taking public transportation, be sure to allow adequate amount of time. It takes a bit to get to the Olympic park area from the city centre. To begin, the BMW Welt is next door - it's free and has a lot to see and do in it as well, along with many cafe's and restarauants. The museum is very modern. From the entrance gates to the exhibits, it's very well conducted and educating. The exhibits do a good job of exploring the history, from fabrication to marketing, in the BMW world. Good opportunity to learn, here!
google avatar

Pyotr T.

Yelp
It's ok. I don't like BMW, but this museum is at least better than Porsche Museum in Stuttgart. It has Motorcycle-wall, different exhibitions and very cool early models. The design itself of the building is nice and fresh. Probably it is the only place in Munich you should visit.
google avatar

Kerry F.

Yelp
This museum was so well put together and very informative. I'm personally not a car enthusiast but I'm now a huge fan of BMW. We spent several hours roaming, looking, and reading. It's probably not super interesting for small kids, as most of the information will go above their head. If you like taking the time to read and learn, don't drag your kid along. If you want to just look at the cars, you'll be equally impressed. They currently have the car Elvis had while in Germany. Which had been restored. Much to see and learn. Parking can be a little pricey as you'll spend hours there. Consider taking a train of it's cheaper or parking and walking. They have food, and a gift shop which was major overpriced.
google avatar

Matthew L.

Yelp
Really underwhelming, but I'm not the biggest museum-goer to begin with, and certainly not a car enthusiast. Our tour guide was also very dry, and just spewed out a bunch of facts as we walked around the exhibit. It really felt like he was just reading off what was in the description at each stop along the tour, rather than adding any character or tidbits into it. It was cool seeing all the classic BMW cars and hearing about its beginnings, but I quickly lost focus and interest. The earpieces and audio system to hear the guide were nice so that even if you drifted away, you could still hear what was explained...even if I did just stop paying attention.
google avatar

Jean-Sebastien B.

Yelp
An absolute must for anyone, even if you're not a petrol head! From cars, pictures, motorcycles and so much more. If your in or around Munich go for it!
google avatar

Sam S.

Yelp
If you like BMW cars and bikes you will enjoy your visit here. Come check it out. Tons of old cars and bikes are on display here. It's well laid out and I specially loved the Mini museum. It's €10 to get in and will take you a good couple of hours to look around. If you like classic cars or love performance cars you will find something here. Read reviews from others for more info. I would definitely come back here again.
google avatar

Vince V.

Yelp
This museum houses nearly every iconic make and model the legendary car maker BMW has ever produced. The environment here was bathed in a white magical light, as if it was an all-around haze embracing the metal and the shiny hardware. Despite the crowd, it was somewhat peaceful. The way vehicles were presented seemed like modern art. The info for each display item was engaging. And of course, the floor looked like it was clean enough to eat lunch off of. Car aficionado or not, this is a great way to spend an afternoon in Munich: home of BMW, and I guess, true automotive heaven.
google avatar

Victor H.

Yelp
Awesome museum that shows the history of the company, its models throughout history, and its core value. It is definitely worth coming to this place to see what a truly design company is made of and how it was made.

Yelp
- Costs us 20E to enter (10/pp), yes they take credit card - Cannot bring backpacks into showroom, so must pay using 1E coin (refundable) - Has a large showroom of older BMW cars - Shows BMW history from past to present - Perfect for car lovers! Only question: where is the BMW Gina prototype? I wanted to see it!

Yelp
A modern, well laid out, aesthetically attractive trip through the history of BMW. For the enthusiast, you get a visual tour though the full history of the company. No part is neglected - from their start as an engine manufacturer and their evolution into motorcycles and then automobiles. The wall of classic bikes follows your walk down an aerial bridge. The room with every generation of the 3-er in line. Design studies. Prototypes. Racers. Early BMW jet engines. Modern BMW automotive space frames. The art piece made up of BMW model badges. The classic 2002tii sharing a showcase room with the only other Bimmer that could ever fight it for culturally iconic status - the Isetta. It it easy, even for a casual car fan, to get completely lost looking at the exhibits here. At €9/person, admission isn't cheap - especially if your party is large - but its certainly worth the price. Obviously you won't be able to sit in any of the cars - that's what BMW Welt across the road is for. This is a museum, after all. However, the Museum is absolutely a must visit for a BMW enthusiast. Your friends and family who aren't BMW or even car enthusiasts will most definitely enjoy it as well.

Yelp
The museum is amazing. The history is a sight to see. I definitely saw some classic cars and one crazy concept car from 2009. They offer guided tours as well as headphone rentals so you can give yourself a tour. You can also download an app. There is a cafe and store for shopping. You have to check out the huge Elvis vinyl replica. The shape of the building is breath taking and very cool!

Yelp
During our unplanned summer stopover in Munchen, we were totally bent on making this a great experience, and so we went all out. First we rented a high performance BMW and took for a spin around town, and when you drive one of those wonderful machines on the autobahn and through the black forrest, you can't help but to become a fan. Needless to say the BMW museum was a fantastic stop in our vacation, we spent a few hours here and simple enjoyed every single vehicle on display here. As a high performance vehicle enthusiast, this place was simply a must visit, and for anyone visiting the general area, by all means, make some time to stop by, warning, you may come back home with a burning desire for one of these wonderful feats of German engineering.

Yelp
BMW Welt 'world' in Munich is pretty cool. Even the outside makes this place interesting and exciting. A good stop if you're in the area, but I wouldn't go out of my way to come. I went into the 'Welt' part, not the museum. Unlike car exhibitions in the US, BMW has an almost quiet art-gallery feel. There are several cafes around the complex that serve sandwiches and snacks and it looks like they could close as a private venue and put tables around and make it pretty swanky with all the luxury BMWs around. What's really fun is that many of the floor models are open to sit in and make you feel like a rock star! Or in Germany, like a fussball star! There is also a good selection of Mini-Coopers and a few Rolls Royce to take a gander. They also have some of the original (or near original) models of their cars too which is pretty entertaining compared to what they look like now. Also, they have a few of their new concepts on display. There seems to be a track (indoors and upstairs) that apparently you can drive the cars around, but I'm guessing that's likely for people who are seriously considering buying them? It's special access to that section and I wasn't fortunate enough to see anyone do any driving, but it feels so futuristic in a country I came to more or less for the old historical side. Fun place to spend a couple of hours for sure!

Yelp
Had a great visit at the BMW Museum and BMW Welt in Munich. Very well designed museum and display of automotive! Love their collection. It's a great alternative to the traditional history tours in Munich. Highly recommended!
