Awesome spot for local bbq in Mobile. Easy to miss the spot and fits the mantra don’t judge a book by its cover. Ms. Wanda was wonderful and kept refilling our lemonade and sweet tea. The ribs and food was hot and damn good. And the prices are great and you get good home made food. It’s they just killed the pig, put it on the grill and then served us. So took a minute but worth the wait. Definitely recommend this hidden bbq Jem. Definitely be back every time in I’m in Mobile.

Was very hopeful due to reviews and restaurant hours. This restaurant seems to be open only 3 hours a day so for me that was a sure indication that the food was so good that they could only keep it for 3 hours, maybe I caught them on an off day. We made it at 1:30 and as per my husband the service was great , i didnt go in. I wanted smoked wings but they were already out so I settled with chicken and the sides of mac n cheese, baked beans, potato salad, and also peach cobbler for dessert. The potato salad had too much celery and mustard for me but that's more of a preference issue. To me the Mac and cheese was pretty decent especially for restaurant quality. The baked beans were mediocre but definitely better than previous restaurants. The cobbler had a good flavor but the crust was thick and mushy. Now my issue was the star of the show which is the chicken. I got absolutely no grilled or smoked flavor from it. It honestly tasted like baked chicken but the worst part was that I'm pretty sure it was old chicken which is UNACCEPTABLE. you can tell by the texture of the skin it's old and it was soooo chewy that it was not edible. I really wanted to like this place because of the employees and the rave reviews. I'll give it a little while and visit again it may have been an off day or just a different cook.

My boyfriend and I went for lunch today to try it and we split the rib dinner. For $16 after tax you get 5 ribs and 3 sides + a dinner roll. I got the macaroni, baked beans, and cornbread. The baked beans were incredibly savory with a not-too-strong barbecue flavor. The macaroni was perfectly peppery and the dinner roll had a great buttery flavor. And the ribs, of course, were fantastic. Lathered in a tangy barbecue, the meat comes right off the bone. TL;DR ribs and sides are fantastic and the service was great.

This place is incredible. You have got to try the mac & cheese. Also, the workers are unbelievably kind. I’m pretty sure they weren’t even open when I went and they still let me inside.

Wife and I drove all the way from NC, truly one of the best Rib SanMitches that I've ever had. The fish was fried to order and the Ribs were hot off the smoker. The whole room smelled like Good as Bar BQue. Definitely well worth the money 💰. Highly recommend and will Definitely return.

Definitely some of the best bbq I’ve ever had. The meat was perfectly tender and the fries were perfectly crispy as well. The baked beans are delicious. The lady at the counter was really sweet and helpful. I will definitely be going back!

Enjoyed the rib special and the hospitality the sweet lady behind the cash register is worth the trip! The Mac and cheese, collard greens and red beans and rice were a perfect compliment to the ribs. The ribs had a good snap and we're very tender.

Really enjoyed the food. All the sides were well seasoned without being too salty. The ribs were tender and had a great BBQ sauce. In my opinion, the food at Boar Hogs was much better than several other BBQ restaurants in Mobile where I have eaten in the past.

Their food was fantastic! I got a slab of the ribs along with the macaroni and cheese and collard greens. The lady who helped me was so patient and kind and helpful! It's a really wonderful welcoming quaint relaxed place!

My coworker recommended this place to me. I passed by this place so many times and never noticed that it was a restaurant. I ordered their 3 piece chicken dinner with potato salad and green beans. Chicken was seasoned perfectly and sides were really good. I can't wait to try out their bbq ribs & fried fish plate next.

Just found out about this place from a co worker in mississippi. Just picked up a slab of ribs, baked beans and mac and cheese. One word, phenomenal!!!! I will definitely be back. It is located just north off Airport road and cody. Staff is really nice also. Looking forward to trying other menus items including the fried flounder!!!

OMG! OMG! OMG! Why don't they make air fresheners with the same smell that engulfs you when you walk through the door? The first thing that really impressed me when we first opened the door and had barely set foot inside was the VERY friendly welcome from the staff/owner and even the other patrons. Did I mention the wonderful smell of BBQ? The first difficulty was what to order... Decisions...Decisions... Pulled pork sandwich it is! Ian was with me and he got the fries while I got the collards.... Yummy! The bun was nicely toasted and the pork was topped with fried onions... Yummy x2! The collards were very delicious and the fries are seasoned... Yummy x3! The pulled pork was Oh soooooo smoky and tender and Uber delicious... Yummy x4! A return visit is definitely on the horizon and the ribs are what I intend to try...they came highly recommended by a patron/relative and he showed us how wonderful they look... Yummy x5! Please keep up the great work and passion for great BBQ.

I visited for lunch and had the pulled pork sandwich with mac and cheese. The pork was covered with a delicious sweet sauce and the mac and cheese was delicious! The bread was grilled and added to the body of the sandwich. I honestly debated getting a second meal to take with me. The service was fantastic! The owners, Lamark and Wanda were incredibly friendly. The restaurant was very clean. There are 4 or 5 tables in the dining room but you can also get it to go. I'll be back often!

This was some amazing BBQ. I will definitely go back when we travel back to Florida. I ate the pulled pork sandwich which was excellent. Mac and cheese was some of the best I have ever eaten. Very friendly and professional staff. Wife loved the sausage stampede

Phenomenal. That BBQ Pulled Pork sandwich is the best in the land, hands down! These two make top tier BBQ (Best in South Ala), and their sides are killer!

Delicious bbq! First time in Mobile so I wanted some bbq. Since this restaurant was close to hotel I thought I would try. I got the rib dinner with mac and cheese, collards and baked beans. EVERYTHING was perfect. You get 4 huge meaty ribs. Way too much to eat all at once. Not bad priced considering you get 2 meals out of it. Will definitely be back when I am in the area.

Absolutely fantastic! This was my first trip here and definitely not my last. I just haye that I waited this long. To start with, some of the most friendly people that I've had the pleasure to meet. Now, I went with the pulled pork sandwich with a side of mac and cheese. It was some of if not the best that I have ever eaten. I'm a Bama Boy born and raised and know a thing or two about bbq and this is it! Now, my second plate was the fried pork chop with green beans and potatoes and skillet fried corn. Absolutely amazing..I grew up on this food and it's some of the best that I have had. Do yourself a huge favor and stop in. I can't wait for a return trip on Saturday. Eat well my friends!

Excellent barbecue! Hole in the wall, Mom and Pop restaurant. The moment you get out of your car you can smell the delicious aromas. They're only open for lunch so don't be disappointed and get there on time.

This little gem is some of the best barbecue my husband and I have ever eaten! We were passing through the area and found them because of the reviews on Yelp. The owner was super friendly and welcoming to us. My husband got the rib dinner with 3 sides and I got the barbecue chicken with 2 sides. (Sorry for the picture of partially eaten chicken - I couldn't wait to taste it and then remembered the picture.) We have plenty for a meal later. I highly suggest you give this place a try and did I mention their reasonable prices, especially for the amount of food you get?

WOW. Stop what you are doing and go here immediately!! Hole in the wall, fresh food, absolutely incredible flavor! Apparently they cater for the South Alabama basketball team, and I can see why! I ordered a pulled pork sandwich with mac and cheese, and red beans and rice. My husband and I split it and we were both satisfied. The toasted brioche bun, tangy bbq sauce, and smoky meat all came together for an AMAZING lunch.

Very clean, friendly staff, and wonderful food. I had today's lunch special: fried pork chop, green beans, and macaroni, and a piece of Texas toast for $7.95. They have sweetened or unsweetened tea, but I opted for a canned soda (not included in the lunch special). Everything was hot and tasty. The green beans had new potatoes, and little pieces of stewed tomato and ham, and were the highlight of the meal for me. The Texas toast was buttery and a touch of garlic, garnished with parley flakes. The toast was separated from the rest of the meal with a piece of wax paper, keeping it crispy. From the time I placed my order to the time it arrived at my table was less than ten minutes. I will definitely be back.

One of mobiles best kept BBQ secrets. Great food and very friendly. The pork sandwich is one of the best I have ever had.

I really had high hopes for these ribs because because they are my favorite BBQ. First off the service was excellent. The lady that took my order and brought my food was a sweetheart. Second the sides were very good. I got baked beans, potato salad and red beans and rice. It all was fresh and tasty. Lastly the ribs. They came drowned in sauce. I should have asked if they served them dry but didn't. My fault there. However being dry would have only made them worse. They were tough and the only flavor they had came from the overabundance of sauce. The meat was dry through and through. I suspect they had been overcooked and been stored in the fridge way too long. I love good ribs but detest poor ones. These were definitely poor.

The five stars are legit! We were passing through Mobile and found this place with a google search. Tiny place on the outskirts of Mobile. Well worth the stop. We had the rib plate. 4 large pork ribs individually cut with 3 sides. The ribs were delicious. Smoky sweet BBQ flavor, tender but with a little "chew" just the way you want them. Sides were excellent too. Best Mac and cheese I've had in a while.

The first time we tried this place was by ordering take away. It was fantastic! Tonight we went with family and friends and it was just as good as the take away. We all ordered ribs which I feel are the best thing on the menu. They have a great bark and delicious smoky flavor. I got the corn bread and collard greens. My only complaint is that the cornbread seemed a little lackluster. It was a bit dry and didn't have much flavor. But the rest of the meal was outstanding. The bread pudding is amazing. Be sure to get some!

Walked in and greeted with smoke literally smoke in the air!!! Luckily that's fine with me cause I'm used to it when I'm at home smoking my meats. Tea arrived first and so far so good half and half like I like it. Ordered Ribs and 3 sides. Came here on a Tuesday so no famous Brisket . Mac'n cheese shells creamy and good, Collards better, but the Baked beans just OK. Now the Ribs were VERY GOOD!!! Smokey and meaty with their sauce which was not overwhelming! I'll be back when in Mobile again

This is one of the best BBQ places in Mobile. I have had the ribs, the pulled pork sandwich, the Mac & Cheese, and the collards. All were great but the ribs are ridiculously good. Everyone needs to try this place.

This is my new favorite spot when I pass through Mobile. Wanda was friendly and very welcoming. I had the rib dinner with Mac n cheese collards and potatoe salad. The ribs are the best thing your mouth will ever taste!! Don't cheat yourself treat yourself!

Here in Mobile on business wanted lunch before heading to the airport found this place on a Yelp search and decided to give it a try. I travel a lot around the south east and this is by far the best bbq I have had. The rib dinner comes with three sides and 4 bones that are huge. I recommend the rib dinner with the collard greens and cabbage if they have it (the cabbage was a special today). They do an off the chart bbq I will always come back when I am in town again

Amazing brisket, but you can only get it on Wednesdays. Small family run joint with amazing southern BBQ!

Killer BBQ in Mobile! Passing through to Florida on a Monday and all the other BBQ places were closed so decided to try this place and glad we did. Had the rib dinner with baked beans, mac and cheese and potato salad. Wow! And the service was great as well. BBQ master even came out to check on on us.

Today was my first taste of Boar Hog's and i have to say it was beautiful and delicious! The pulled pork was so tender with a hint of smoke it tasted like it just came off the pit. The potato salad had a little bit too much onion for me but I still ate all of it lol. I will order from them again.

Our group had ribs, pork sandwich with fries, and Salisbury steak. So delicious!!! Friendliest people!

If you like SMOKEY BBQ, this is for you, This family puts passion in the BBQ, Ribs are HUGE and you have to work to eat them, but they are addictive. The pulled pork is amazing, smokey, tender and some burnt ends in it, bun is crisped on the grill and some butter / garlic mixed on it, amazing. Good stuff!

There aren't enough superlatives in the English language to describe this place. I was visiting Mobile, and happened upon it. The customers already there were smiling and couldn't stop talking about how good everything is. I ordered and, boy were they right. Simply the best BBQ I have ever experienced. And the people. Wow, The owners are sweet, kind, personable, and dedicated to their craft. I was in Mobile to attend a wedding, and I contacted the couple getting married and they switched their caterer at the last minute to Boar's Hog. And boy did they deliver. Reasonably priced, personalized delivery and setup. And the food, outstanding! Most of the people there made a special trip to tell Lamark (the owner/chef) how great everything was. It doesn't get any better than this place.

I was in the area on some business and looking for lunch. I used Yelp and came upon this listing, read the first review and set out. As I was pulling up I was surprised that it was a bit smaller than I expected. I came inside and was immediately greeted by a lovely lady with a hello and a smile. We talked about the options and I decided on the pulled pork and Mac and cheese. She rang me up and I sat down and waited for my food. This place is a bit of a dive, some would say a hole-in-the-wall, so it was right up my alley. The restaurant was clean and had a cool vibe with the tin paneling. The food came out and it was nice and HOT! The bun for the pulled pork was perfectly toasted and lightly buttered. The pulled pork was sauced and had great texture and flavor. The Mac and cheese was tasty as well (I am picky about Mac and cheese and generally am not impressed). I thoroughly enjoyed the meal and got a slab of ribs to take home to my lady. A+!
