Boat House Super Suites

We previously stayed here many years ago when it had operated as a B&B and since it was now operating under the same ownership, albeit on a self-catering basis, we were optimistic about a good visit. ||We booked direct and obtained a rate of £309 for a 3 night stay to attend a wedding on the island in September 2024.||The apartments are based in a large house overlooking the waterfront a short walk from Rothesay pier and close to the various eateries and bars in town, however distant enough to be a peaceful location at night. Parking is on-street outside the premises or on the very wide pavement opposite if there are no free spaces (I’m not sure if the latter is official but lots of people were doing it and we didn’t have any issues in this regard ourselves). || Access was straightforward with good communication beforehand, a security keypad at the communal front door and our room key was in the apartment door on arrival. ||We had Suite 4 which was on the first floor with a large bay window overlooking the waterfront. The main front-facing room contained a comfortable seating area, a small dining table & chairs, a kitchenette and had access to the ensuite bathroom (spacious walk-in shower, no bath). There were original paintings on the walls. The bedroom was at the rear of the apartment overlooking the gardens. Both rooms had wall mounted televisions.||The large bed was comfortable in our experience and there was storage in an open closet and a chest of drawers. ||The kitchenette had a microwave oven, kettle, toaster and a fridge and the owner provided some breakfast essentials such as milk, tea & coffee, cereals, bread, butter, jam & marmalade. There was cutlery, crockery and glasses making it feasible to heat up a meal or have a take-away in the apartment if desired however aside from breakfast we ate out. ||We only met Sara, the owner, on departure when settling our bill however she was very friendly and had provided good communication by email prior to our arrival. We didn’t have cause to be in touch otherwise.||Overall I’d recommend the apartments for a self-catering stay if visiting Bute.

Suite 2 was fabulous, spacious and well equipped. Small kitchenette with everything for breakfast in the fridge. Huge bed, very comfortable. Good bed linen. Shower room is big, with power shower. Close to centre of Rothesay, with view of the Clyde.

Wow, how lucky was I to be given the front room in the Boat House Super Suites, facing out across the harbour to watch all the comings and goings of the ferries. Perfect location with free parking on the street. The shops, restaurants, cafes, hotels, and Castle and churches are only a two minute walk away. To the ferry is a one minute drive. The room is luxurious. There is a little kitchen facility and I loved the way the breakfast was ready there for me every day. I could have stayed longer and spent more time dreaming out the window. Very comfortable. I highly recommend staying here at the Boat House Super Suites!

Outstanding property, b&b meets self catering and a view to die for. Plus we love Sara.

Spent a couple of days staying here at Christmas time and couldn’t be happier. The location was fantastic and the view was beautiful. We felt very welcomed and the facilities were amazing. If you are looking for a lovely place to stay then this is it!

It was a wonderful holiday in a very good flat. Sara was nice and friendly. We Sure come again.

Fantastic wee place to chillax. Every suite has a sea view, spotlessly clean, terrific layout and excellent location. A great base to explore the Isle of Bute. Sara is a great host and highly recommend this accommodation.

What a wonderful spot! Location is wonderful - 6 minutes walk from the ferry, the co-op, central square, bus stop, & visitors center. Each suite has unique decor and I really appreciated the sturdy wood table in Suite 3 (on the 2nd floor) and the comfortable sofa and chairs in front of the HUGE bay window. I spent a lot of time each day in those chairs, watching the harbor, mist over the surrounding islands, weather, birds, and dog walkers. Their web site photos accurately depict the rooms but don't show how sparkling clean the suites are or how helpful the owner (Sara) is. ||||I enjoyed the homemade marmalade and the flexibility to make my own breakfast with the provided supplies. Very quiet and good sleep. All furnishings were well chosen and showed a nice flair.||||Communications were great and Sara was very responsive to questions about arrival, etc. I would stay here again in a heartbeat and recommend it highly!
