Wonderful shaded setting for lunch on the water. The wait staff was friendly but service was slow. Not a big deal bc of the view. The fruity alcoholic drinks were $11 each. They were tasty but seemed like they had no alcohol. The food was above average bar food. Spinach and artichoke dip was solid. BBQ sandwich was tasty but had very little meat. The truffle fries were really good. Go for the view and know you’ll have good food but nothing all that special. We will return with that expectation.

Posting for anyone like us, two moms with two young kids looking for a nice but casual early dinner. We came around 5:30 and sat outside we loved the waterfront ambiance! At that time, it still had a casual vibe, which was perfect for people with young kids just trying to have a nice meal while clinging for their lives. 😅 By the time we were leaving around 7, the fancier crowd was starting to roll in, but we never felt out of place. The calamari was great, the shrimp and scallop ravioli was delicious, and the perch was just okay. The kids’ menu was solid, and our server David was amazing, attentive, friendly, and great with the kids. Highly recommend for families who want a beautiful setting without the pressure of being super formal.

The food was delicious, the service was adequate, and while the staff could have been more welcoming, our waiter was pleasant despite being quite busy. The restaurant offered lovely views. The prices were somewhat high. I'd return for relaxing meal.

This venue is beyond beautiful, especially being on the water. I love that most if not all rooms have wonderful views of the water. It adds so much natural light to the rooms as well. I hosted my sister’s baby shower at Boatwerks, and will always recommend this venue to friends/family. The staff are always so friendly, welcoming, and very helpful! The food/beverage options are always exactly what we are looking for. The shower was absolutely perfect and couldn’t have gone any better. I’ve hosted 3 events now a at Red Water venues 2 of them at Boatwerks and will continue to be a repeat customer.

Google
Rating four stars. The food was great and flavorful, service was amazing, and drinks were delicious. I took off one star because the salsa (pictured) tastes like straight up tomato soup 🥫 like they poured out a can of tomato soup and served it as “salsa”… honestly a jar of Tostitos salsa would have been 1000x better than the salsa they gave us. I say this not to criticize, but to help this restaurant be better. If you’d change the salsa, it would level up this restaurant significantly. I hope you really do fix this. You’d get many more returning customers. Sincerely, a self-proclaimed foodie.

Walleye filet is small, but delicious. Good calamari, but sauce should be on the side versus poured all over. Terriyaki bowl was fresh and fantastic, but happy I got the sauce on the side. I added shrimp to it, as well, which was a good choice. Outside seating is great. Service is fine.

Michelle

Google
Great location on the water! We had elotes dip to start - chips were amazing but the dip was too much cheese and not enough elotes. The teriyaki bowl was gorgeous but the sauce was too sweet and heavy for our liking. ! Brisket sandwich was good but the bread:brisket ratio was disappointing. By far, the best thing we ate was the Farmer’s Market Pizza. We’ll definitely return if we’re in the area because the patio is phenomenal.

Google
Everything you would reasonably expect from a waterfront super-restaurant. Good menu, great food, good and fast bar service, great waterfront views, and surprisingly good acoustics. Too often I find it hard to have “inside voice” conversations in large and busy places. Not an issue here. The Caribbean Mahi-Mahi is amazing!

Yelp
Beautiful location and fun outside and bar area. The main dining area was packed and a bit noisy. The food was good

Yelp
Stopped in the boatwerks for lunch my wife had the Cobb salad with honey poppyseed dressing. Unfortunately the dressing tasted like pure vinegar and put a damper on the meal. I got the walleye sandwich with kettle chips. The batter was crispy and the fish was tender and flaky. It was served on a toasted bun. My meal was excellent. Our server Sheah was very good. I had an Alaska amber beer that was slightly sweet with a lightly hopped after taste. The restaurant sits on the water and has a beautiful view of the lake. We think the ranch dressing would have been better but the dressing had already been poured over the salad. The lesson here is try before you commit

Yelp
Loved this place ! Beautiful views!! we sat outside and enjoyed the lovely weather. The food was great and the service was even better. We shared a fish sandwich with fries had some virgin cocktails, and enjoyed the peacefulness.

Yelp
The lakefront location can't be beat. We came at an off-hour for dining, about 3pm, so we were sat immediately. We asked for a table next to a window - initially we were led to a table in the center of the room, right next to another party- and after our hostess conferred with the wait staff, our request was granted. We enjoyed looking out at the water and people watching the customers on the patio as our meals were being prepared. I had a pretty tasty lobster roll, and they offer a small caesar salad as a side, which I prefer to the usual house salad, so that's a plus. Our waiter was friendly and seemed very experienced. The restaurant has a slightly upscale nautical vibe and the restrooms were incredibly clean- an overall very pleasant experience.

Yelp
We planned on stopping here at some point on our 4-day weekend in Holland, MI. No time like the present, right? We didn't even make it to our room. They were busy with 2 different events going on but the restaurant side had plenty of open tables. The weather was perfect to sit out and enjoy the waterside view. My wife's Cobb salad was quite large and my Wy walleye sandwich with fries was more than enough for me. Service was quick and the food was great. The blue cheese added just enough to her salad and my fish was crisp on the outside and soft in the middle. What a great venue to enjoy an outdoor meal at.

Yelp
Had a wonderful evening here with some family. A little wait which made sense on a weekend evening but there are tables at the bar that one can order drinks at while waiting for a table. Decent selection of cocktails, beer and wine. I tried their version of frozen pina colada, with coconut and blood orange flavors - went down pretty well on a hot summers day. For dinner I got the mahi mahi which came with coconut rice, chimichuri sauce and pineapple salsa. The mahi mahi was tender and smokey. The chimichuri provided just the right amount of heat and the coconut rice was the perfect flavor carrier. My wife got the walleye sandwich which was really good , the potato chip encrusted walleye was cooked perfectly. With the ambience of the Macatawa river , it capped a really good evening.

Yelp
This is an amazing location! The views are absolutely stunning! The food was spectacular and the drinks were perfect. But it all comes down to that view!! Just gorgeous! It's definitely a spot you need to check out while in Holland!

Yelp
Went to check out the Tullip festival and worked up an appetite which brought us to Boatwerks. We mainly picked this location because it was on the water but were disappointed that they weren't seating anyone outdoors. It wasn't too busy which explains why they didn't have many servers. I had the BBQ brisket sandwich and the meat was a little tough and the bbq was ok. It was underwhelming to say the least. My family ordered and enjoyed their meals. The burger my mom said was the best she's had in a while. Our server was great, she seemed to warm up to us very time she checked on us.

Yelp
Great ambiance. It is right on the water so you will certainly enjoy the view as you enjoy your meal. We started with the calamari which I would recommend. I had a blackened chicken wrap with sweet potatoes which was pretty good. My husband had the perch dinner which was ok. We would both try other entrees when we come back. The views & ambiance gets an extra star.

Yelp
Came here on a weekday for lunch with family, and had to wait about 15 minutes for a table. Thankfully we got a table right next to the windows for a great view of the water. Service was excellent and food came out quickly. We all enjoyed the calamari starter and our entrees.
google avatar

Alison N.

Yelp
Average food for above average prices. We had the fried perch. It was ok, nothing particularly great about it. Service was fine but slow even though the restaurant wasn't very busy.

Yelp
I came here for a wedding! The ceremony took place in the back of the restaurant with beautiful views of the doc! I will say when I arrived, the parking guys had it locked down. They knew exactly what to do and how to direct people. Even though it was a tight lot, everything was well organized. Ceremony was great! Dinner was a breaded chicken with steak, potatoes, and carrots. Overall, very good. Wait staff and bar staff were well trained and the night went off without an issue.

Yelp
Great location. Bad drinks. Bad service. Staff seem to be just biding their time. Weak sangria for 13.00. Managers are walking around in a daze. Time to go.

Missy S.

Yelp
Excellent customer service - the staff was incredibly professional and welcoming. And the food was fresh, with a great view!

Yelp
Food was good we waited for 1hr and 45 mins I don't think it was worth the wait the ambiance was okay for lake view waitress was nice as well 4 stars for nice experience
google avatar

Kamryn A.

Yelp
Great place to grab a bite in Holland! Always busy so plan to wait a bit especially during popular tourist weekends. Service is fast and food is pretty good. The spinach artichoke dip is the perfect starter with the fried pita chips. We also loved the walleye which was super light but filling. Shrimp tacos are a bit heavier since it's fried but great nonetheless. Perfect place to sit on the patio and enjoy a cocktail on the lake
google avatar

Bob G.

Yelp
Food was delicious and quick. Service was acceptable. Brisket sandwich was skimpy on the meat. This the 4... Walleye sandwich was great. Fries are battered and cooked to perfection . Views of lake through garage door windows was delightful.

Yelp
Jaela was so efficient as our server. Great personality and took our party of 6's orders and changes, separated checks, and silly birthday behavior all in stride. She had to come back and tell us my order of crab stuffed shrimp couldn't be fulfilled, as they were out of the shrimp. The serving of calamari was huge, and so perfectly done. The sticky chicken appetizer was smaller but delicious. I had the prime rib with mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts. The stems of the sprouts could have been cleaned up a bit better, and 2 more minutes of cooking, as they were very crunchy. I got horseradish to accompany my prime rib cut, and it was delicious.
google avatar

Yelp
The place is right on the lake. So the views are great. The place is wide open. We had to wait in the bar for a half hour. Not sure why cuz there were a lot of open tables. Service is good. Only a few times to wave down the server. Wife had the Walleye filet which was huge. Came with succotash with lots of bacon. Really nice. The portion size was so large we had to bring more than half home. I had the calamari on slaw and peanuts. Also ordered the onion rings. Both were really good. I prefer my calamari a little more crunchy but it was fine. We ended it with the key lime pie which was okay but not tart enough and we thought that the slice was a bit stingy.

Yelp
Visit for the gorgeous panoramic views of the water, truly stunning. It could not have been a more glorious summer afternoon. One extra star given for atmosphere. BUT the menu here is woefully uninspired. All food ordered was edible but mediocre at best, priced for tourism, and forgettable. The off-tasting red Sangria tasted of club soda/7-up/mystery fruit punch with little to no red wine flavor; terrible, the worst we've tasted anywhere. Margaritas weren't much better; bottled mix with low quality tequila. Would stick to beer next time, and try a burger.

Yelp
This dinner was exactly what we were looking for. Food was fresh and so delicious. The interior of the restaurant was cozy and had scenic views that our whole family was excited about. Our servers were friendly and very attentive. This was a quick weekend trip for us, but we will definitely be back and recommending this spot to friends and family.

Yelp
Our first time in holland, and this place didn't dissappoint! The drinks, and food was good! I got a salad and we also split a meat lovers pizza (the mac & cheese was also really good and creamy.) Our server was also very sweet, I wish I could remember her name! The view was beautiful during sun down! :)
google avatar

Yelp
The view is amazing. Although we had a large group, I enjoyed that they had an option to get drinks and appetizers at the deck on the water. Once seated, the service was attentive and prompt. Two of us in the group ordered the Shawarma Bowl. Although our server warned that ot was garlicky - nothing could have prepared me for the level of garlic in this dish. My friend took one bite and said it was "inedible." I tried to eat it while trying to determine which component of the bowl had the excessive garlic. Honestly, it was like licking a jar of minced garlic The dish had such promise, so it was the taste was so disappointing. I honestly wonder whether the chef has actually tasted this dish. Order anything - literally anything else. Our other diners enjoyed their meals.

Yelp
During a vacation to Holland, walked nearly a mile from our hotel to Boatwerks. We arrived at 8. Was told they were no longer seating tables for the evening even though they didn't close until 9. I've worked in many restaurants, I've never heard of this. There seemed to be plenty of staff. Host said we could try getting a seat at the rail. There are several "rails" around so we weren't sure what that meant. We found a spot at a rail, then it was pretty evident we wouldn't be waited on. Asked host what he meant by rail - he told us the bar. We eventually found a spot at the bar and had dinner. Food was decent. We didn't get to sit near the water which was disappointing after a mile walk.

Yelp
We had a wonderful first visit to Boatwerks. We were greeted by a smiling hostess and she was so kind to ask about our day. We were sat in a booth that felt private and it was very comfortable. The view of Lake Macatawa was stunning, even in the winter time. Our waitress was friendly and knowledgeable about the daily special. I had the razzle dazzle mocktail. I really appreciated the mocktail menu! For an appetizer we had the sticky chicken. They were deep fried chicken tenders in a really good sauce. For our entrees I had the Thursday prime rib special with mashed potatoes and green beans. The mashed potatoes were phenomenal. The beans were tossed in a buttery mixture. The prime rib was cooked to my liking but the only thing that stood out to me was that the prime rib had no seasoning at all. No seasoning around the edge or anything. It was juicy and fresh tasting but the lack of seasoning was noticeable. The portions were the perfect size. Overall it was a great entree. My boyfriend had the herb crusted whitefish. He really enjoyed it and commented on how good the bed of grains were too. For dessert we had the snickers pie. It was awesome. Very filling and worth it! On our way out there was a different host up front and he was sure to say goodbye and thank us for visiting. It is so important to welcome and say thank you to guests so we appreciated that. They have a very nice facility at Boatwerks. The bathrooms were clean and the restaurant also felt clean from what I could see. I like how the restaurant is set up with a bar side and a regular dining side. There is no bad view here. The sunset was beautiful tonight and we definitely want to come back during the summer months to eat on the outdoor patio. There is a very large parking lot and it is free to park. We had a great visit and would recommend Boatwerks to friends and family. I wish them continued success!

Yelp
Loved the atmosphere even on a rainy day. Great waitstaff and energy to make our lunch just perfect. Enjoyed the menu and especially the Caesar salad with grilled shrimp! I ordered the smaller sized salad and was very pleased with the size! I highly recommend.

Betty Z.

Yelp
My Mahi Mahi was overcooked and tasted terrible, Drink water down Bathrooms were dirty and some had vomited in the men's room For 35 dollar meal they should do better.

Kirstin S.

Yelp
The best part is the waterfront seating. Food is always good, but nothing amazing. The staff is always nice and no doubt put up with a lot during the summer months. Would suggest bringing back the pretzel. It is missed.

Michelle N.

Yelp
Nice atmosphere. Great food. Filet was delicious. Service was ok. Nice variety of food choices.

Elyssa B.

Yelp
Server Josh P. Is amazing! Asking for his section outside when we return. Boatwerks is a must every summer!

Yelp
We enjoyed a very solid Easter Brunch. The carving stations were our favorite, especially the beef tenderloin. There was an abundance of seafood; oysters, shrimp, and cod to name a few.
google avatar

Amy R.

Yelp
Wonderful ambiance. Friendly and attentive wait staff. Fantastic food! Definitely check it out. Great way to spend a summer afternoon or evening!
google avatar

Maisley K.

Yelp
We love boatwerks for a special occasion dinner. The views are lovely all season long, but especially during the summertime. Definitely recommend checking out their outdoor patio on nicer weather days. We have been very happy with the service and each of the menu items we've ordered in the past- honorable mention for the blackened mahi-mahi and strawberry bruschetta!
google avatar

Jessie H.

Yelp
Went to Boatwerks for my birthday lunch. It was fantastic we had a wonderful window seat over looking the water. The service was great that the food was excellent we will definitely be back! The stand out dish for me was their fish chowder! Next time I go back I am having a bowl and no need for an entrée!
google avatar

Roseann M.

Yelp
During our visit with family we all went here and it was probably the best meal of our trip. We all had walleye and perch. The perch and on the thinner side but still very good. The walleye was cooked perfectly. The sides were also great ! Service was quick and friendly! We opted to sit inside because it was windy but still had a great view!

Yelp
Great location and view!! Strolled in the middle of happy hour on a Thursday. Approximately 4pm - seated in the dining room with a great server, Steve informed us happy hour specials are only available in the bar area - so, we sadly left his area & were sat at a high top in the area. Also, with a great view. After all, who wouldn't want happy hour specials during happy hour??? Exactly why we were there for $3 off appetizers and $1 off signature drinks!! Bartender didn't seem too thrilled for the opportunity to serve us. But, we rolled with it. After all we are in the public business as well & restaurant alumni service industry & wanted to eat & drink like queens of happy hour!! Mmmm the Cold duck speciality drink we highly recommend!! We are the delicious appetizerS; calamari, shrimp cocktail, & the warm goat cheese dip (could've had a few more pieces of toasted baguette) but, was ohhhh so delicious, arrived hot, & fabulous plate presentation!!! Despite the less than enthusiastic service via being seated in the bar & wishing we could've had Steve as our server along with happy hour prices... we'll be back!

Yelp
Absolutely disappointed with the restaurant and pretty annoyed with the staff as well. My wife and I are on vacation with our small dog and saw this beautiful restaurant with waterfront dining. Having traveled with our pup many times in the past we specifically look for outdoor dining as we have never been turned away for outdoor seating. Until now... not only is there no posting of "no pets allowed" anywhere near the entrance, the 5 hostesses watched us stand in the corner and wait with our pup for over 20min, then when they finally called us asked if it was a service animal and turned us away. EVEN FOR OUTDOOR DINING!! Sad part is we were very excited to dine there. Guess we all missed out.

John S.

Yelp
The food and service were good after we were seated. However, I am unable to recommend this restaurant for larger groups. They do not take reservations during the season and it took them 90 minutes to seat our group of eleven adults.
google avatar

Eric G.

Yelp
We came here for Valentines Day dinner and it was great per usual! My wife got the strip steak and it had good taste, but it was just a tad chewy. I got the French steak dip and it was pretty good too! The steak was a tad dry, but the juice helped make it more flavorful. The fries were incredible as always! The service was impeccable. The waiter made sure our waters were full at every moment. He also checked on us to see if we needed anything. Lastly, the ambiance is always nice. The ceilings are really tall and it's very open.

Yelp
Great event, atmosphere and staff at Boatwerks! We recently hosted our sons rehearsal dinner at Boatwerks, and to say we were delighted is an understatement. The staff was fantastic and on point for our 40 guests, particularly Bonnie and Alex. Several of our guests commented on how attentive they were to various needs. We had the taco bar buffet and everything was just great. The chicken was especially yummy, and again many positive comments from our guests. Tracey was great to work with on setting everything up - communication was great and she was helpful in ironing out some last minute details. We are frequent guests to Boatwerks for personal and business meals, and this was our first hosted event. The team definitely met, and in certain areas exceeded our expectations. Thank you Boatwerks team!

Alise A.

Yelp
I have a service dog for seizure detection and I called first to ask if it was OK, they said no problem, I got there any they sat us outside which was our choice even though it was 95 degrees and then after we were seated she would not bring my dog water. They said she could be here just not drink water.

Yelp
Boatwerks is the place you want to dine on the water in Holland! Great outdoor space, what's not to love? With one or two tweaks, it could be even more amazing. Food: quality is great! Selections need to be slightly revised. Wish there was an appetizer my husband and I wanted to share...he would not eat any of the current offerings, wish there was something that appealed to the "meat & potatoes" type of guy. However, the rest of the offerings for a main course were fantastic! Not sure there is anywhere else where it was difficult to choose because there too many stellar options. Ordered the summer grain & berry bowl, and they nailed my requests. There was an abundance of strawberries - the most I've ever seen on a dish! The kitchen did not send out my protein (with the dish), but our waitress noticed the error soon after it was delivered to the table. Husband had the meat lovers pizza and loved it. His exact comment was, "if we lived here, I wouldn't be hurting for good pizza!" High praise from someone whose favorite food is pizza. Wine selection: best I've seen. I always wonder why these restaurants don't feature more local wines, they are so lucky to have them! But Boatwerks had some Michigan selections, the late Harvest Riesling was perfect to sip on under their outdoor canopy. Desserts: too pricy. Tried to cajole my husband into the key lime pie (his favorite), but he balked at the price. There were many 5 star qualities to our dinner, and I'd dine at Boatwerks again in a heartbeat. But, maybe the appetizers and desserts need more consideration?

Yelp
Fantastic Easter brunch! Everything we tried was delicious - especially the cod in sweet chilli sauce and the kids mac and cheese! Great layout as well which made it easy to navigate in a crowd. It was actually quite quiet in the bar area and service was excellent as well. Definitely recommend!
google avatar

Mahmoud S.

Yelp
Very bad service. Was told I would be seated and nobody took me to my seat. I waited patiently for a few minutes and the next people that walked in were seated immediately. I went back up to see what was going on and the person at the counter told me my seat was taken because I didn't sit down right away... but I wasn't taken to my seat as everyone else was. Never coming back

George L.

Yelp
Food was terrific! Wait staff could have been more attentive however. In the end it took them more than 15 minutes to figure out how to redeem a gift card.
google avatar

Julie M.

Yelp
Slow service, mediocre food but good view! The drinks were good, we asked for a custom drink and it was made perfectly.

Julie H.

Yelp
6 of us were gathered for a birthday celebration. We had a great meal and wonderful server (Sam). We paid our bills when the manager came up and said we had a 2 hour time limit on the table. And we were over and needed to leave. Where was that stated? Did she not notice that the bill was paid and we were gathering our stuff. Totally wreaked the evening. We all left upset with that encounter. Better plan to eat and run if you are planning on going out to this lakeside restaurant

Kelly R.

Yelp
Great location, beautiful views, decent food and service. The wait times are lengthy though. Great waterfront dining option!

Yelp
The sevice and ambiance were very good. The location and scenery were very nice. Very disappointed with the Lobster Roll and the flat Sparkling Wine. In hindsight I realized the "Lobster Roll" was made up of "Lobster Salad". No lump meat at all. Heavy of cucumbers and veggies. Very disappointing. Consistency of tuna salad. I realize you're not getting the best lobster roll being that it's in Michigan, but for $22 it was not even close in my opinion. Also had the Seafood Chowder which had potential but was very soupy (not thick) and lacked potatoes. My wife had the Mushroom Ravioli and really enjoyed it. We would probably return for the location, ambiance and scenery but skip the Roll and Chowder.
