Bobby's Table

Had breakfast at Bobby's Table and the food and service were great. In addition to the restaurant menu, they also have take home foods available like frozen butter chicken, lasagna and an assortment of preserved foods. Seems like patrons know Bobby as they shouted a "hello" to him upon arrival. Overall vibe was friendly and family oriented. This diner has maybe 12-15 tables, not much space for big groups, and somewhat eclectic/no frills.

The most perfect pancakes I've had in years! Served with maple syrup and apple pie filling that's perfection. Coffee is fresh and not bitter! Going for a second cup. Enjoyed on the patio out back today And had great service and quickly made food. Will be back this week while I'm in town!

Gotta be honest, the food was not bad I heard good things. I had an eggs Benedict and the spinach was alright on it kind of soggy but everything else was decent. Reason for the two stars is it says the meal comes with coffee. Pretty much every breakfast spot I’ve been to doesn’t charge for extra cups but they charge per cup and never told me. 8$ for coffee on my bill for a regular pot of coffee. I get it it’s hard times with COVID but coffee is about 20 cents a cup. Owner is super nice though. Wish it ended better but my interaction asking them to take the coffee off and them refusing left a sour taste in my mouth about this place.

Easily the worst breakfast I have eaten in Ottawa. I'm sorry but the bacon looked terrible, the eggs were average, and the homefries were very below average. The sausage was probably the most edible, but I don't understand how this place has 4.5 stars.

Great experience. I love poached eggs and they qere cooked perfectly. It wasflean. Staff was quick, helpful and courteous. Gluten free alternatives!! The cook even came out to ensure i was ok with the latka as it had some flour because i ordered gf toast. So considerate!! Quebecois style breakfasts is something i miss when im traveling so i was so happy to find Bobbys!!

I went for the first time just the other day with my gf. BEST smoke meat in Ottawa + I got some homemade jarred items to take home... Very excited to go back.

Went to Bobby's at 2:20 to get a quick brunch, we were rushed by the server saying they close at 3pm and to order quick (which I get, you dont really want to have to stay later- not the best staff etiquette however) Decided to just get a hot chocolate and coffee to go instead... The hot chocolate had bugs in it. there was a BIGGER one on my tongue which looked like a roach. It was revolting and I wont recommend eating at a place that has bugs in their food/drinks...

If you can’t tell, that’s an omelet in the picture. Nothing like a nice burnt omelet. 2 stars because the toast isn’t burnt. Just got this on 23 October 2022. Will not be returning.

Really the best smoked meat in Ottawa. Great Sammy and solid fresh cut fries. Rideau bakery rye and crunchy vinegar based slaw. One of my go to joints for out of towners to try smoked meat. Sketchy area - oh, Vanier!

Bobby's table is wonderful- this mom and pop place has been a vanier staple for a really long time and there's a reason it's stuck around. This is a no fuss classic diner that does a really great smoked meat and the prices have stayed so reasonable! I think a classic eggs breakfast is like 8$. The owner also makes jams, cookies and other preserves which are available to purchase! The quirky decor is part of the charm and the staff are super friendly warm and approachable. Thank you Bobby's!

The food and the service are excellent. The smoked meat is second to none in the entire city. The basement bathrooms could use a cleaning, although I recognize that this may be entirely out of Bobby's control.

Bobby's is a great place! ... best smoke meat in eastern ontario hands down! Yes it is a little place. The food and service is fast and friendly ... We go to Bobby's every 2nd Sunday for breakfast and ALWAYS order 2 jumbo smoke meat sandwiches to go! If your into homemade sauces, pickles, jams ...etc! you'll love Bobby's.

I went to Bobby's Table for dinner with a group of four for dinner. Everything was going great, until just after we were seated. Two in our group ordered alcoholic drinks. The waitress aggressively and forcefully insisted a few times that everyone had to order a beverage. When the food we ordered, hot smoked meat sandwiches, arrived they were all still cold. The smoked meat was overly salty, greasy and loaded with fat. It wasn't appetizing at all. The waitress asked three times what we wanted for dessert, even though we all declined the first time. When the bill came our waitress told us, "Don't forget the gratuity". Despite my reservations; due to the poor service and inferior meal, I generously gave a $30.00 cash tip. The waitress didn't bother to thank me. Looking at the money she defiantly said, "It's not much!" How ungrateful, especially because tips are not mandatory. It seems most restaurant waiters/waitresses expect tips even when the food is low quality and service much less than adequate. Also, the parking lot is less than ideal being frequented by homeless people and thieves looking to steal from vulnerable cars. Given our experience, we won't be going back to Bobby's Table, ever. Nate's Deli on Rideau Street had the best smoked meat sandwiches. Bobby's Table doesn't compare in any way. Given what occurred I can't recommend Bobby's Table to potential future customers.

Looked up a good place everywhere for a good place for brunch and search was narrowed down to Bobby's Table. There is parking behind that is reserved for BT which we took advantage of. It was about 10:30ish on a Friday morning. We expected that it would be not busy, but we were wrong. All the tables packed and a few people ahead of us. We were seated in about 15 minutes or so. The coffee was good, not strong the way we like it, but was the right temperature. The kids had milk and they were LARGE glasses. We had a breakfast special (for $4 and for $5 with home fries), an Eggs Benedict on spinach with a latke, a Vegetarian Omelette, a Belle Vegetarian Club Sandwich, and a Breakfast Special with Home Fries. The latke was a bit over done, but the poached eggs and the Benedict sauce was good. A little more seasonings would have been better. The Vegetarian Omelette was stuffed with veggies. The size of the omelette was BIG. The toasts in all orders were perfectly done. The special with scrambled was good. The home fries in all the orders were amazing. Perfectly fried, seasoned with a bit of mixed herbs was out of this world. The Belle Vegetarian sandwich was good. The sandwich position was huge and generously piled. The avocado mentioned in menu was hardly tasted, it was present, but could not detect on the palate. A fresh thick slice or mashed would have made it. Also we were served by the owner Robert (Bobby) itself. He is funny, attentive and served us with a smile. Attention to detail and food was presented well as well. A must go to place for breakfast and brunch. The prices reasonable, nice portions, good quality and nice service. What more could one ask for? A breakfast special before 11 am for $4 bucks? I would line up just about every day.

Really solid breakfast! I came on a Sunday afternoon, and the place was pretty full and cozy. I love how the decor inside is homey and a bit eclectic; my table had a large wooden "love" art piece, and the chairs had cushions! What I tried: - Eggs benedict with smoked salmon: the smoked salmon was hearty and fresh, and there was enough hollandaise sauce, which I appreciated. The side of potatoes were delicious, as were the tiny pot of caramel apple! - Special of the day, chicken souvlaki platter: very authentic and fresh; however, some of the lettuce was a bit wilted, but flavour of the chicken was delicious and it was tender. Service is friendly, and coffee was strong. Would definitely be back to try their breakfast special! Portions are good and satisfying!

This place is absolutely a hidden gem. Came across it online and was intrigued. Finally got there, immediately sceptical. Both my girlfriend and I looked at each-other with sheer confusion. Needless to say, I would eat there again eyes shut. Food was quick, fresh and hot is an understatement. Service was prompt and to the point. Pricing was average but worth it to say the least. We enjoyed breakfast which was all star and we do confidently recommend the pancakes if you're feeling like some morning nostalgia. Will be visiting again. Thank you so much.

Great little hole in the wall. Very busy on a Thursday morning at around 8:45am. Very cheap weekday breakfast special (4.95) - 2 eggs, toast, meat, potatoes or beans (I got 50/50) and a coffee. Loved the little jug of water left at our table. Super nice server, even offered to let me try the potatoes before ordering, when I asked what style they were (e.g. hash brown, fried). Food was pretty standard, but then again we didn't try anything too adventurous. They sell a number of take away items like pickled goodies, individual baked things (squares, muffins). Will be back! Would like to try their lunch.

Simple diner decor. Focused wait staff. Affordable basic breakfast. Good diner coffee. This 'joint' has simple diner decor. The wait staff are focused on getting the job done and getting the tables turned during breakfast. (This makes them sound unfriendly - and they aren't - but they know their job and they're doing it.) Bobby's table offers and affordable right-sized basic breakfast. It's good! More importantly the coffee is also good. Get there early to avoid lineups. Would I return: Yes Would I recommend: Yes

It's a nice little spot my friends took me to. I got the regular breakfast which is very reasonable priced. For $9.95 you get 2 eggs(any style), 2 slices of bread, sausage, bacon, ham, potatoes, coffee and 1 tomato and cucumber slice(?) Service is really good and they made everything exactly the way I asked so I have no complaints. The reason I'm giving it 4 stars is cause the hashbrowns were actually not that good. I also saw some of the other things people were ordering and it all looked pretty delicious so I'm thinking I'll probably go back again!

I love smoked meat sandwiches. I order them quite frequently when we eat out. Today I had the worst smoked meat sandwich I have ever eaten in over 30 years. It was incredibly fatty and very difficult not only to eat but to digest. We spoke to the waitress who advised that the entire piece of meat was like that and the next time I ordered I should ask for lean meat. Two problems with that advice. First of all, in my view, if the meat was that fatty they should have used better judgement and not used it. I can understand a certain amount of fat but not to the extent I had. The second issue is that this was our second visit to Bobby's Table. I wasn't that happy the first time but decided that it could have been a one off so thought we would try a second time. After today's visit, I can say with some certainty there won't be a third time. On the plus side, my husband was quite happy with his hot chicken sandwich.

Went on a weekend, super busy but they bust out the food super fast. Cheapest breakfast I've ever gotten, and enjoyed the food. I love that the hash browns are seasoned and have onions in it. Staff are very friendly and you can tell it's a neighbourhood fave with the locals. Moving to the area soon, and this will definitely be our go to spot! There is parking in the back just a couple spots!

Great neighbourhood greasy spoon. Friendly owner, good food (no-nonsense) and good value. I really like their club sandwiches and breakfasts. I'm not a huge fan of their smoked meat - they don't make it themselves. There are better options if that's what you're looking for.

I went to lunch here with my colleague. We waited a bit for food & felt as if we were out of place due to the clientele. My fish and chips were good. No complaints there & my friend loved her breakfast food ( they serve it until 11). The only reason that I am giving them a 4 instead of a 5 is because we saw a bug crawling around on the wall and that made us a bit nervous about eating our food.

I went to this place on a whim, because of the plain sign out front. The food arrived quickly, Bobby was very friendly, and the restaurant was very cozy. I tried the smoked meat sandwich, and my friend tried the bacon cheeseburger, and both were great. The smoked meat was fantastic, the burger was huge, and the fries for both were hand cut and fresh fried. I really liked this place! What I think feels the most special about the place is all of the food feels handcrafted in the way that you don't come across in larger places. The burger was seasoned in a unique (still good) way, and the pickles and coleslaw had flavours that could only be had by making the two from scratch

Breakfast food is good and cheap but the none breakfast selection is of a lower quality and not worth even the rather modest price.

I was here 4 years ago and had horrible service. Snarky waitress despite my numerous attempts to lighten her mood. So I ddI t go back again until this afternoon. My waitress this time was a different woman. She approached the table with a soulless look in her eyes. Didn't introduce herself. Asked if we wanted coffee and we said yes. Then she disappeared for 13 minutes (it wasn't busy) then came back with coffee (no water-fail) and took our order. The cook dropped our food off. The order was wrong. We asked for one burger well done- it wasn't. Bacon was undercooked. My burger was amazing though. Home cooked, great deli bun and we both liked the fries. Fresh cut and well done. Server never once came to the table to see if everything was ok or top up our coffee. We finished and sat waiting. Nothing. Then stood up and went to the counter to pay. She asked "how was everything" I bit my tongue. The $1.00 tip might hint to my experience. Running a diner doesn't take much. Your front of house staff is everything. A smile and a little thoughtfulness and personality is paramount. Even if the food is mediocre (which really it wasn't) The atmosphere was totally clutter-f*#ked. A picture fell off the wall and hit a woman sitting next to the wall. I recommend you stay home. Cook your own burger and serve yourself. You will spend way less than $40 and at least be able to wet your pallet if you're thirsty.

Like going home for breakfast! Friendly service, awesome and affordable breakfast - what more could you ask for! Also a great spot for a family but you need to get there early.

I just realized that I haven't yet reviewed Bobby's Table. Maybe its because subconsciously I dont want anyone to else to know how awesome it is, so that I will never have to wait for a table? This is a classic diner through and through, but the breakfast is what breakfast should be priced and it is delicious. Get the special if you want to go really affordable or get the big breakfast and don't eat lunch. The staff is really friendly and the smoked meat is legendary. Even the baked goods at the counter are awesome. I have probably eaten here 20-30 times and I have yet to be disappointed.

Checked it out because everyone was raving about it. The prices are fair and the food was ok not great. The diner is cute but not the cleanest. Service was good.

Yup, this place is a hole in the wall. An amazing hole in the wall! Sunday morning we had to wait about 10 minutes but it's worth the wait. The tables are packed in really tight, so if you're looking for a chill breakfast brunch this isn't a place for you, but if you value quality eats over decor then don't look any further. They coffee and the eggs Benedict were cooked to perfection. Bring your appetite.

I went here on a friends suggestion and I wasn't disappointed. The first time I went for breakfast and this has to be the best diner coffee that I have had. It was actually quite drinkable! Breakfast here is inexpensive, but satisfying! But the sandwiches are the best choice here. The meat is smoked Montreal-style and sandwiches are served with thick home-cut fries. Yumm. You won't leave hungry! This restaurant is run by former Nate's deli employees. Excellent service and delicious food. A good location for those in Vanier!

Up and about early and looking a good breakfast. Bobby's Table has a low profile street presence. Don't let this make you overlook the place. I went in hoping for an above average Bacon & 2 breakfast. This was on the menu and very reasonably priced. I went for the Big Appetite. Eggs (2) - Opted for poached today (soft). * * * * Bacon, Sausage and Ham - Bacon perfectly balanced of crisp and meaty, Sausages tasty, Ham - well sliced ham on the griddle needs zero skill to prepare for Breakfast so can't really say anything more than it was good too. Hash Browns - * * * * * - Tasty Crispy outside soft inside, done with a bit of onion and some spicyness. Excellent. Toast - Rye bread ( Bonus in my books ) Fruit Salad - More bonus marks Slice of Cucumber and Tomato - Sure why not! The Coffee is good. Diner coffee. Nothing over the top. But not old and bitter like the reviewer here ;-) I always take time to look over what people have on their walls, Photos, paintings, etc. From The Wall of Bobby's Table you get the feeling that this place has deep roots with the community and a positive contributor. Had a chance to look at the Lunch and Dinner options and will putting Bobby's Table at the top of my list next time I'm in the area and looking for a Burger or Smoked meat sandwich.

Omg this is the best brunch place in Ottawa!! Every time we go the food is absolutely amazing and the waiters and waitresses are phenomenal. My daughter even has a joke with Bobby that involves stickers. Tara is amazing and I recommend getting "hungry man breakfast" which is like 5 dollars and sooooooo good! Come to Bobbys Table!

Loved the great breakfast. Good food for that rarest of things in Ottawa...a good meal that is inexpensive. On that cold, snowy day...delicious.

Hidden gem! Had the smoked salmon benedict.... best egss benedict I've ever had! Hollandaise sauce was perfect. Portion and price was perfect. The only thing I wasn't 100% happy with was that service was a bit slow (it was super busy, Sunday brunch) and the place needs a good cleaning! Very dingy. But all in all it was a great breakfast and would definitely come back!

We chose this spot for breakfast Saturday morning after a google search for "best eggs Benedict". The spot was pretty busy when we arrived around 9am. We were not impressed with the service - two table who arrived after us had their breakfast and were eating before the waitress had even come by to take our order. I guess she forgot about us. When we did get our food, it was okay... the hollandaise sauce was seriously lacking flavour. Despite the rave reviews the spot received, we won't be returning.

Nice little diner. The tables are a little crowded, but the service and food is great. They have a breakfast special until 11am for 3.99. Delicious and greasy.

This is a great diner. The food is excellent and the servers are friendly. You can tell everything is homemade. The breakfast is good and the lunch menu is great, the sandwiches are large enough to share. You gotta to eat here.

Had some tourtiere that friends bought from Bobby's takeout. It was excellent!

By Far and this is an understatement the Best Place in Ottawa for Smoke Meat....that place is amazing....there is not 1 single time I hate there and their Smoke Meat was not perfect....Their Ruben Sandwich are also Amazin.

Bobs Table is hands down the Best Breakfast in town. The quality of the food, service and value for your dollar is unbeatable. If you haven't been, check this place out in the heart of Vanier. A true diamond in the rough!

I went for breakfast awhile back and it was great. The waiter was nice and the food was awesome.

One of my favourite eateries! It's not a fancy restaurant, but the atmosphere is cozy and clean. Smoked meat platter is delicious! The meat is smokey and juicy - not fatty. Portion is generous. Didn't like their pickle but their desserts make up it. Poutine is also excellent.
