23 Best Bars in Barcelona

"Gin never goes out of fashion in Spain, and nowhere is that more apparent than at Gracia's Bobby Gin, which boasts 80 different varieties, as well as five different tonic waters. Unsurprisingly, every single person here is clutching an oversized wine goblet filled with a monstrous G&T, which many consider the best in town—no small feat for a country that has elevated the seemingly humble mixed drink to a cultish status. Bar staff is open and engaging, and more than happy to guide you to the right gin to suit your palate." - Isabelle Kliger, Naren Young

Bobby Gin - Bar Review | Condé Nast Traveler

"So, can you tell us a little bit about this place? This long, thin bar is (duh) a wonderful homage to gin, and has made its mark as one of the places to get a gin and tonic in Barcelona. And in Spain, where the seemingly humble mixed drink is a bona fide phenomenon, that's no small feat. Cool. So who’s there? The front part is filled with young, loud patrons milling around the bar; in back, the crowd feels a little older and more civilized. Unsurprisingly, every single person is clutching an oversized wine goblet filled with a monstrous G&T. How are the drinks? Gin never goes out of fashion in Spain, and nowhere is that more apparent than at Bobby Gin, which boasts 80 different varieties, as well as five different tonic waters. What is there to eat, if anything? A short food menu of snacks and tapas, olives, dressed “Bobby-style”, pickled mussels from Galicia and an artisanal cheese platter. Did the staff do you right? Bar staff is open and engaging, and more than happy to guide you to the right gin to suit your palate. Owner Alberto Pizzaro has some creative suggestions, too. Wrap it up: why are we coming here? This is a nice little bar that serves up the best G&T in town." - Naren Young

Nice atmosphere and low light. Very quite to have a chat with friends or couple. Several brands of gin. You can either have a gin&tonic, gin cocktails or other cocktails. Service is nice and helpful, and they know how to recommend. Nice outfit too. :) They serve a small glass of water from the start. Worth the try!

Google
Great little gin bar! We each had a gin tonic and then a gin cocktail. The bartender was very personable and walked us through some gins we have never had!

Google
Delicious cocktails and excellent service. We loved the place and we will definitely come back.

After going to the #3 and #5 bars in the world, my husband and I agree that the drinks at Bobby Gin are on par, if not better (especially in taste and range). Excellent presentation. Plus, it’s much more accessible and affordable. Good ambiance as well. Hidden gem!! Bartender is a genius and has great recommendations. Must visit.

Google
Exceptional cocktail bar catered towards gin lovers but a good choice for all those who fancy a cocktail. The bartenders are very knowledgeable and can craft a cocktail for you based solely on personality. I tried the Natsu Yume and it was a great twist on a white negroni. Top shelf cocktail bar for sure!

Came in from London with my partner and such a nice experience, cocktails were extremely delicious and innovative! we love the attention and care to all little details,is a must if you visit Barcelona and you love a true cocktail bar! Not to be missed

Google
A fun little place! The staff knows plenty of English to get you a drink and recommend certain find. Found this place by looking up best gin bars in Barcelona. Well they weren't wrong, the list of gin and the quality of the cocktails is amazing! The only reason that the review is 4 out of 5 is that the price seems a bit high. For a gin in tonic I spent €11. Either way, a great must visit for gin! They also play Leon Bridges. So you kinda need to go!

Google
Great bar with great energy! The bartenders were super friendly and the drinks are big and delicious. They make their own “ginfolk” infused gin that they use in their G&Ts I tried the dehydrated pineapple version which gave t just a hint of sweetness. Other patrons were friendly and we got a great restaurant rec while there too (la pepita.) definitely stop by for one of Barcelona’s favorite drinks! Gin and tonic!

Yelp
Best gin and tonic! Both traditional and unique options. Try the Fonk versions! Get the bartender to tell you the backstory of the bar name.

Yelp
Barcelona's Bobby Gin might be the most enjoyable experience I've had at a bar. The low lit, impeccably stocked watering hole expertly checked all the boxes for what I look for in a business: product, hospitality and atmosphere. Read on for more 5-star praise! As soon as we walked in, one of the two bartenders walked around the bar and greeted us. (You would never see this Stateside). He picked up on our Americanism, thanked us for joining them, and granted us two seats at the bar. Throughout the evening, the bartenders crafted me their take on a Negroni and a Modernista (with gin!). The former was up there with the top Negronis of my day. The latter, however, was nothing short of outstanding. The fact that they made this classic cocktail substituting gin blew my bar geek mind away. Of course you can order non-gin-related cocktails, but I HIGHLY recommend exploiting the bartenders talent and creativity to cater to exactly what you like. And if you earn their respect, they might even sneak you shots throughout the night. Not that I would know... Additionally, they possess a super small kitchen on site with one chef. Three employees on duty in the whole joint - these guys hustle! We ordered two croquettes and an order of chips and guacamole. It's upscale pub food done right. They were fresh, delicate, and perfect for funneling our night on the town without crashing. The conversation we had with the two bartenders was intoxicating. These dudes are not just seasoned industry professionals, they are down to earth guys who understand customer service. Of all the bar tabs in my day, I truly felt that Bobby Gin deserved every cent. Remarkable job! (Ps, the woman sitting next to us at the bar was born and raised in Jacksonville. What are the freakin' odds when in Barcelona!)

Yelp
More to choose from than you could have time to digest, luckily the menu is a great launching platform if you're not sure where to start. His use of bitters is a fantastic addition to the many Gin & tonics you could order! I highly recommend the Isle of Harris! Cheers!

Yelp
Bobby Gin was my go-to bar while in Barcelona. I think I actually ended up here at some point every night during my visit. The location is tucked away along the side of the wall in a sketchy alley. There is no sign. Your only indication that this place is here will be the doorman outside to hold the line when all the seats are taken inside the bar. Luckily, I didn't have to experience a line each time I came. Obviously by the name, you should guess that this bar specializes in gin cocktails, mainly gin and tonics. Ironically, I don't like gin or tonic but I was still somehow compelled to come here and try their crafty interpretations on the drink. First of all, the gin and tonics are HUGE. The glass it comes in is seriously as big as my head. Holy crap! They had four interpretations of the classic gin and tonic, made with different types of house-infused gin and they were all delicious: - The Hendricks Ginfolk: gin infused with rose tea and made w. fresh strawberries, lime, "vegetal elixir?" and tonic - The No. 3 Gin & Tonic: this one was my fav! Made w. Citronella, bitter orange and tonic - Tangueray 10 Ginfolk: made w. tangerine, agave nectar, bitter chamomile, kaffir lime and tonic - Tangueray 10 Gin & Tonic: made w. kaffir lime, grapefruit bitters and tonic Two other drinks that I tried: - The Patent: made w. tequila, absinthe, punt e mes, fig liqueur, grapefruit bitters. This drink was phenomenal and had a bit of a bite - Santa Maria: made w. gin, chardonnay, milk thistle syrup, thyme, sage and lemon juice. This drink was very interesting but I felt pretty indifferent about it. It was strong though. The food was okay, but honestly not too memorable. The cheese used for the cheese fries was a bit sharper than I expected. I expected it to be either mozzarella or similar to mozzarella and the jam that came with it didn't do it much justice. The drinks came out to about $13USD each which I thought was standard drink prices if not slightly on the cheaper side for a speakeasy, at least compared to DC.

Yelp
I had never heard of infused gin before, so I had to give this bar a try. The bar has a great eclectic vibe to it, and the bartender is super nice and loves to explain the process by which they make their gin. You can order either a classic gin and tonic or one of their cocktails with infused gin. While the drinks aren't cheap, they are made to enjoy, and the atmosphere creates the perfect environment to kick back and enjoy a few gin based drinks. If you don't know what to order, just tell the bartender and he will happily walk you through the menu.

Yelp
Excellent cocktails and service! The bartenders really put effort into their drinks and it shows. They are like a work of art! Enjoyed hanging here while i'm barc. Very upscale but speakeasy feel.

Yelp
I highly recommend Bobby Gin to anyone looking to visit a great bar in Barcelona, especially if you're a gin lover! The bar is very eclectic, and offers a great mixed drink menu that features a plethora of variations on the classic gin and tonic. When we arrived here, we were seated without delay and we both enjoyed one of their exceptional gin cocktails. While I've never tried the food here, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend visiting Bobby Gin just for their cocktails! While the drinks here aren't cheap, you get what you pay for and these are worth every penny :-)

Jakub C.

Yelp
We arrive around 11pm and there were a couple empty tables but by 1am there was already a queue outside, so we were lucky to get in. The cocktails were great, we've tried both the house gin tonics and some of the cocktails of the world. Would definitely recommend and will come back when I'm in Barcelona again.

Yelp
Great food and very well presented. Tried Guacamole with crackers, salmon and guacamole and few others. All the tapas I ordered was pretty good. Service also good and location was easy to find!

Yelp
Let's just preface this review with the face I drink a lot of gin. It's not my job, but love. Man, I was super excited to research and find this place was a block away from our Airbnb. We were there on NYE before they closed early. Wow! The selection of gin is amazing. But, I'd recommend their tailored menu called GinFonk. We're from chicago where there is a pretty great cocktail scene and these were hands down the best well balanced, but gin forward cocktails we have had. Go! Staff was super friendly, talented and the bar is neatly decorated.

Yelp
Great place and amazing selection on gin. My British friend loved it. Thanks for the birthday shots!!! Loved that you had wifi too. Also I hate Yelp and think Yelp is not trustworthy. Customers make sure to read throughly through reviews on Yelp. I only go online to post my reviews. Find where the wifi is and let people know to be aware of Yelp bad business practices. Loved Bobby Gins for my friends birthday!

Yelp
Cool bar and ambiance, but highest we've paid for a super small vodka on the rocks--$13. Also, pretty bad food :/ got the cheese mole, burrito and burger...burger wasn't the worst ever tho.

Yelp
Stepped in on a quiet night to shake off the jet lag, and was thoroughly surprised by the craftsmanship of this place. I could imagine this place in London, NYC, LA, or SF, but never imaged running into a place like this in a quiet residential street in Barcelona. This place has a nice vibe about it, they have plenty top notice gin and the bartenders know how to knockout cocktails with it too. Tip: If you are going to drop 10 Euro on top shelf gin, go for the Fever Tree tonic so you can really savor the gin. This place was so good I sat a couple of seats down from Bobby Flay when he was in town.

Yelp
I just had the best tapas of my life at this amazing place!! The potatoes and Vietnamese shrimp were so unique and incredibly delicious. Super friendly accommodating staff. The ginger mojito and Hendrick's ginfonk were absolutely fantastic. If you are ever in the area PLEASE stop by and give this place a try!

Yelp
Great bar, horrible food. A great, upmarket bar in the heart of Gracia. One of the best Gin-tonic bars I have found in Barcelona. Ordering outside of the menu, the barman does his best to come up with something really amazing. It is worth sitting up the front near the bar to watch the guy work. On the downside, it is a little pricy, but still worth it for 1-2 drinks. The food though is amazing bad. We were a group of six, and our orders came out 2 at a time, 5 min apart. The veggie burger was probably the worst one we've ever tasted, however the tex mex was decent. The guacamole came with cheap, small, thin potato crisps rather than the normal tortilla crisps, making getting any salsa rather difficult.

Yelp
I still wake up dreaming of this place, I loved it that much. I was fortunate enough to score a business trip to Barcelona for a conference. Myself and a couple of work buddies did a bit of research before making the journey to Spain and saw this place listed as one of the top spots for a good gintonic. And boy were they right! First up, and this is always key to a location like this, the staff was top notch. They were extremely knowledgable and friendly. We all left there knowing much more about gin, and the gintonic, by the end of the week. The bartenders, Markiel in particular, were very accommodating. We became regulars even though we were only there for a few nights. The vibe to the place is wonderful. The decor is fantastic, the music is a perfect blend of background music, and the focus is really on the cocktails and the conversation. They also do a good number of infusions, so if you want to step beyond a gintonic and see what they've been playing with lately you can do that too. If you're in the area this is a must visit.

Yelp
Jet lag be gone. Loved the vibe here. It has a speakeasy feel (quality drinks/bartenders who care about service) but with a lively atmosphere. I was happy to chill at the bar and watch the preparation of drinks. The customers were also fascinating. The bar is the best place to watch it all go down and Bobby Gin did not dissapoint. I can see this place as an early drink or late night drink kind of place. It is too good to be the only bar you do all night. Don't overstay your welcome....make it a special stop. I am keeping this place bookmarked for my next trip. It was a good memory for me!

Yelp
Reminds me of trendy restaurants in NY. In Spain, personally I would rather go to traditional restaurants, but if you need to escape that, this a cool place to hang out. Seating can make it hard to eat and is more like a lounge setting. The Tokio Blue was delicious (10 EUR). Food portions were small but creative. Nothing especially amazing, but nothing was bad: -Bravas 6.80 -Croquetas 6.60 -Langostinos 7.90 -Cracker foie 7.50 -Ceviche 9.50 -Tuna tataki 12.00 -Arepitas 6.50

Yelp
Really delicious and great cocktails. The menu is a bit difficult to imagine what a said drink is going to taste like- so it's best to go up to the bar & speak with the bartender!

Yelp
Excellent drinks in a delightfully decorated little space. Our server walked us through the menu and listened to our preferences before suggesting pairings. They clearly are serious about their gin. I had the Monkey 47 Slow Gin with Heritage Indian tonic. A wonderful cocktail. My wife had Bobby's Spring which was equally as delicious. No food this time around, but how they have set up the offerings is original. New twists on old classics.

Johannes V.

Yelp
This is the best cocktail bar I visited in Barcelona until now. I stumbled upon this place by accident. I walked by and this bar just caught my eye. I really like the interior looks of this bar. I told the bartender what kinds of drinks I like and he made me some excellent recommendations. I haven't tried the food yet, and I'm not sure I'll ever be able to get past the bar ;) I'll definitely be coming back here.

Yelp
We went to Bobby Gin on our last night Barcelona - what a mistake! I wish we went earlier in our trip so we could have enjoyed it more than once! I'm a big gin fan. My husband calls me "the gin monster". Bobby Gin lived up to my expectations. They had so many variations of the classic gin and tonic. The decor was on point and the bartenders was very informative and friendly. My husband ordered a drink he read about in Imbibe- they did not have it but the bartender went above and beyond to see if he could make it and when he couldn't, he recommended several other similar options. If you like gin, I highly recommend Bobby Gin!

Nicole C.

Yelp
We came to Barcelona for 4 days and unfortunately found this bar on the last day. Luckily we hit on a Wednesday so it wasn't crowded and the 2 bartenders were literally 2 of the nicest in Barcelona. I do not like gin and drank several gin drinks that were amazing. I'm a gin covert. Highly recommend. Marco and Andrea made the most amazing cocktails, haves us great food recommendations and were just 2 great guys.

Yelp
MY GOODNESS!!! My personal favorite place I went to in Spain. This speakeasy is hidden in an alley near hostels and little bars and it did not disappoint. The staff was very accommodating and was very knowledgeable in all the spirits made there. Usually speakeasys here in the U.S are more for whiskeys, but this place centered gin. My wife and I got a crash course on gin and tonics, and even mixing the right fruits to make it all go. I highly suggest their Bobby Gin special gin and tonic that came with strawberries and grapefruit. Obviously I couldn't leave without having an old fashioned too and they did a fantastic job with it. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Caught them on a slower night so it was a more intimate setting where we talked to one another and the bar staff. Very underrated in the place is the food. Specifically their croquettes. They had 3 different ones but their squid croquettes are to die for. Next time we come there we're definitely getting those, but all squid!!!

Yelp
This place had the best Gin and tonic I've had! I recommen the Bobby spring gin and tonic. They had great tapas too!
google avatar

Lu L.

Yelp
A modern bar with a nice atmosphere. Really different and creative drinks, but it's quite expensive.
google avatar

Jackie E.

Yelp
Bobby Gin is your place to go for gin and excellent mixed drinks. We visited Barcelona for the first time ever and made the mistake of using Trip Advisor instead of Yelp, because there just seems to be less reviewers WW. So here goes our Yelp review to add to the bucket. Bobby Gin has a great, hip environment, doesn't have random closed evenings (yeah that happened to us a couple times) and has good customer service. Really enjoyed. Basic level of English as well for those who speak minimal Spanish. For sure go here! It became our go-to bar while in Barcelona.
google avatar

Johnny N.

Yelp
The mixologists at this place are to gin what Walter White is to meth. Though I personally prefer meth to gin 9/10, if I were to go to a place for a cocktail in this city it would be a challenge to find a bad one here. They treat their drinks better than I treat my first born child. Now, I don't have a first born child, but if I did then what I said in the sentence before this one would still be a true statement, rather than one I said to drive my point home.
google avatar

Diego U.

Yelp
I've tasted monkey 47 distillers 2012 and it was simply amazing. Like so much his place. Pretty crowded, nice to stay thought.
google avatar

Adam R.

Yelp
Great gin list! Overall, very good cocktails. A nice treat given how many bars here only make basic mixed drinks.
google avatar

Clara K.

Yelp
Finally, a real cocktail bar! I'm sure the gin tonics are great, but this place definitely does more and does it well. A great place to go if you're looking for something off-menu. We had nice Sazerac and Aviation cocktails. Pricey, but worth it.

G R.

Yelp
This bar / restaurant is hidden down a long alley - where most good places are in Barcelona. The bartenders are very personable and make great recommendations. We tried gins made in Spain - their favorites, and we weren't disappointed. Totally worth the trip. Love their creations and a simple gin and tonic in a wine glass!
google avatar

David D.

Yelp
This place specializes in gin and tonics, yet I went to several other places in Barcelona that did it better. The bartender didn't even pour a full shot into our (overpriced) drinks. If I'm paying 10+ euros for a G&T, I would at least like to be able to taste the gin. He seemed to play favorites, giving generous pours to his friends, while stiffing strangers like us. Unless you're already pals with the waitstaff, you can do better than this place.
google avatar

Eric P.

Yelp
Ok so I come to Barcelona every year for Mobile World Congress and this is my go to for cocktails and tapas. It is without a doubt the BEST gin bar in the world....simply fantastic the care the bartenders take making a drink. And while not a whisky aficionado they make the best old-fashioned! Enjoy.
google avatar

Emily W.

Yelp
visited barcelona in march and still thinking about what a damn shame it is i can't get a bobby gin g+t in nyc. stayed nearby in gracia and came here twice because it was just that delicious. didn't have the food because of la pepita (omg) but the drinks are top notch!

Eric B.

Yelp
DO NOT, I repeat do not come here if you're a tourist. Upon coming in with a friend, I was the only one hungry and ordered the chicken sandwich (which was not good at all). To our surprise they brought us a burger as well that we NEVER ORDERED in which we told them to send back. To an even greater surprise they called the police on us for not paying for the burger which we did not order in the first place let alone did not even eat. All of this immediately after physically being grabbed by the arm by the waiter when trying to leave after paying for the only item we had ordered, the sandwich! This is not how a customer is to be accommodated to or treated in any manner.

ashley q.

Yelp
This place is sick...the kind of place that you want every bar to be, but in NY would be swarmed with assholes. Mixologists crafting cocktails at 1am and you can actually sit at the bar. By far best beverage I've had in Barcelona.

Luke M.

Yelp
If you're a gin fan this place is a must - they have an excellent selection and our waiters clearly knew his stuff. The drinks are pretty expensive by my standards - my g&t was 11 euros, but on the plus side it was huge. We had a few tapas with our drinks which again were expensive but pretty good - the salmon with gin sauce was awesome, the mini burgers were too 'mini' for my liking though (literally one bite). The place itself is cool, it's pretty hipstery but not pretentious and there's a good vibe.
