I gotta say, I read reviews for this place and it seemed like it would be a total win. However, it was a bit underwhelming for me.
The inside is interesting. No windows, lots of flags.
I want to mention that the workers were all very kind and I had no problems with service. Even though we ordered at the counter, they checked in at our table multiple times.
Unfortunately, the food fell flat.
The Mochiko chicken was flavorless and served with a sweet chili sauce that tasted just like the kind I have from the grocery store. I thought Mochiko chicken was supposed to be flavorful on its own, even without a sauce. Also the portion was kinda small for the price.
The Kahlua pork bowl had pork, but also what tasted like loco Moco gravy... which was a good gravy, but not what we really wanted on top of Kahlua pork. When we saw that it came with "gravy" for the bowl description on the menu, I was thinking it would taste something more like the pork itself. Also, it was heavy on the rice.
Lastly, the guava cake had a nice soft airy texture... but not enough guava flavor. It is huge, but mostly air. We didn't order it to-go, but it came in a to-go container rather than on a plate. I felt it was overpriced at almost $10 per slice.
Overall, my experience was just alright. I'm glad I tried it, but I don't need to return.
