I had a lovely Asian Afternoon Tea at Bobby’s with 10 of my girl friends. Bobby’s really took care of us and made us feel very welcome. The afternoon tea was wonderful and a very different experience from a traditional afternoon tea. The food was really delicious and my favorite thing was the Rose milkshake. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and eating experience, I’ll definitely be back. Thank you Bobby’s!

Went here a bit early so we were restricted to the choices on the menu. Bobby’s is a quick meal and catch up type of place to go to. I like my food a bit on the spicy side and this I did not get here. Only thing I loved is the Cripy Bhindi which I highly recommend to try, though they could not make it’s a bit more spicer for us it was still tasty. We ordered Mixed veg platter / Chole Bhaturas & Crispy Mogo which all were bland for me. Asked for a spicy sauce on the side but even that didn’t do anything for me. I would definitely go for the Crispy Bhindas but otherwise I would not go back anytime soon here.

I swear I will never buy any sweets from This shop. They don’t make any authentic sweets, it’s just full of sugar and prices are unreasonably high. Last time I bought sweets for Diwali, I felt so bad. I thought it might be Diwali demand and supply business but no I was wrong and become fool again to buy Baklava. It has no pistachio or any dry fruits filling, in fact it is full of sugar with semolina. Huge Huge disappointment.

The best place for Indian food in Leicester…just ask Rick Stein! I've been coming to Bobby's for over 20 years, and each time the quality and service remain exceptional. It was fantastic to see this recognition in Rick Stein's Food Stories. The food is always freshly prepared, and the chai is absolutely delicious. The flavours are rich and complex, with a spice level that can be tailored to your liking—perfect for me, as I'm not great with spice! What truly sets Bobby’s apart, though, is the outstanding service. The staff, managers, and owners go above and beyond to make you feel welcome, often greeting you personally at your table with recommendations and eagerly seeking feedback. I frequently bring friends and family here, and they’re always impressed, especially since they never miss the lack of meat on the menu. They offer plenty of vegan and gluten-free dishes and cater to all! As an Indian, I’m very particular about where I enjoy Indian food—nothing compares to home-cooked meals. But Bobby’s has become a true comfort spot for me. The food is always warming, homely, and satisfying. With a menu featuring Gujarati classics and inventive Indo-Chinese twists, I always look forward to my personal favourites: aubergine stir-fry, papdi chaat and crispy bhajia! Their Indian inspired afternoon tea is exceptional, with plenty of sweet and savoury options and drinks choices - it’s a lovely treat for a celebration! I’ve recommended Bobby’s to countless friends, and I’ll continue to do so without hesitation.

A really excellent lunch with friends. We've coming to bobbys for years and it is consistently good. The vada pav and pani puri were excellent and the punjabi thali for main also very good.

Not the greatest! travelled to Leicester from London and went to this restaurant. Ordered quite a lot of food however some dishes were very disappointing. If you buy mitais from this place, please check them first!! The photo is how we received the mitais (half eaten) disgusting!!🤮 I ordered a chilli paneer dosa, firstly, it didn’t come with a lot of paneer inside, the dosa was extremely oily, it was also a little cold. The masala dosa was again similar and the masala inside was tasteless + all the chutnis and Dhaal which came with it were not nice and also tasteless. The Loaded Bombay Chips were also not the best, they were standard chips with grated cheese over (not even melted), the cheese naan tasted frozen! The only 2 decent things was the bhel puri and the bhinda fries however these were also slightly salty. The masala chai we ordered just seemed like kettle tea but they made it sound fancy on the menu. We had to wait 30+ minutes for our food and even then they forgot one of our dishes so had to wait another 5/10 minutes for that. Overall I would say even though this restaurant looks nice from the outside and it is full of people, I wouldn’t recommend Myself and my family were disappointed and didn’t want to argue about it with them as we were already tired from a long drive to Leicester and back to London.

I have wanted to come here for a long time. It’s worth every penny. The most delicious food. Fantastic Thali, chaat and Dosa . All vegetarian. Look at all our empty plates

Google
Amazing food. We opted for Jain options and the taste was impeccable. They were really kind and attentive to our 1 year old baby too. A really comfortable place to dine with family. I highly recommend this place. I have been here multiple times and the quality remains the same.

Yelp
Recently, I've been really disappointed with Bobby's. They use to be a favourite of mine, but the quality is simply not the same anymore. It use to be 'the' place for indian (gujerati) vegetarian food in Leicester, but the quality has been rather inconsistent lately. So if you're lucky, you'll get some amazing food for a reasonable price, otherwise you may just be disappointed. Staff though, are usually friendly and attentive.

Yelp
Found myself on the Belgrave Road and having recently seen a TV program about the history of the area Bobby's was the place mentioned in the show. Interestingly I asked two other shops where should eat and they both mentioned a place called Shiv Sagar as the best Indian vegetarian in the area. Anyway having seen the show Bobby's it was. First the positives, the owner was friendly and took time to give me an insight into the history of the area. The place was clean and well lit and on a very hot day I was glad of the air conditioning. I ordered the thali which was 8 pounds + 10% service charge which I was surprised about when I paid the bill but was told its written on the menu on each page, I didn't notice myself and looking at other reviews neither have others. All three veg curries were very similar and the kadhi was too spicy for my palate and had no pakoras in it. Although its an unlimited buffet when I asked for a second glass of lassi I was told only one is included, I wish this was clearly marked on the menu. Good thing was when I asked for the normal dhal because the khadhi was too spicy they did allow this and wanted to try the puris as the rotis were ok and they were brought out too, so now I know the puris are better than the rotis here. A repeat visit is possible but I would order something different next time.

Yelp
This used to be the best Indian restaurant and Indian sweet shop in Leicester over 20 years ago. While it is still good, it has not totally moved with the times. The food is still good value and tasty but they somehow have let their standards slip a little, or maybe it is the competition who have got better. Despite that criticism, if I have not got time for a meal, I always pick up some treats from downstairs when I am in Leicester. I do wish that they would instal a lift to the 'upstairs' as this discriminates against disabled people!

Yelp
If I were to rate this place in footballing terms then they would be the Barcelona FC of Gujarati cuisine. The owners migrated from Uganda in the 70's and I believe they we're the first to setup a Gujarati sweet shop in Leicester at that time. They have since expanded and service and quality has improved over the years. They have set the standard for their competitors to follow, and believe me it's a very high standard. About the food; they make all the traditional gujarati sweets along with the samosas and dokras and masala chai. The most famous product is the fafra which is just to die for with the homemade chutney and fried green chillies on the side. They opened a Buffett section also which is value for money. The business is family run and all old and new customers are warmly greeted. If you haven't been here yet and want to try real authentic gujarati food then this would be the place for sure. I fancy some fafra since writing this! Doh!

Yelp
Excellent buffet. The flavours were some of the best I've tasted for a long time. Delicious. The children really enjoyed it too. This was their second visit and well worth the 50 mile round trip. Good value for money and the staff were friendly and helpful. Great.

Yelp
This is a good place to dine. The food here is good and they have a good selection to choose from on their menu, its pure vegetarian dishes only. You can also buy take away sweet and savoury dishes.

Yelp
Bobby's is one of the best known Indian restraunts on the legendary Belgrave road - the heart of the Asian community in Leicester is located here. The cuisine on offer is completely vegetarian, specifically from the Gujarati region of Northwest India where the majority of people (Hindus) are vegetarians. I am not a vegetarian myself and neither are most of the people I have dined here with, but we all agree with food this good, that does not matter at all! The restraunt is composed of a downstairs and upstairs. Downstairs is a sweet counter, selling traditional Indian delicacies which you can purchase to take out if you so wish. There is also some seating at the side. Upstairs is seating only and where I prefer to dine. Don't be fooled into thinking that a vegetarian-only restraunt would have a limited number of dishes, there is a large choice to choose from. Gujarati dishes tend to follow the typical Indian meal structure: rice and cooked veg as the base, with an infinite number of sauces ranging from the mild to extremely hot. The service here is second to none, the staff are really friendly and make you feel like they want you to be there and enjoy your food. The food here is high quality, so you will find cheaper places, but for the quality of food is worth what you pay for it.

Yelp
Overall this place is fine to dine while in Leicester. The owner/management was caring albeit the staff member serving us could've been a bit more attentive and understanding. The indo Chinese vegetarian starters that we had were very good in relation to taste and display. The meals that we ordered (dosa, bengan bhartha, Pau bhaji) were just ok at best. My bengan bhartha tasted and smelled like it was burnt and when I told the wait staff about it they told me that it was normal and if I wanted to change the dish that the charge for it would remain. She later did not charge for it but did come back and to tell me that the chef agreed with her which I thought was completely unnecessary and unprofessional. So the service could have been better and so could the meals. I would still return for the starters and possibly try different options for meals.

Yelp
Been to this restaurant a few times I have been to Leicester and I think it's great. A large range of food to choose from, and tasty and fantastic. Price of the food is cheaper than London which is a plus. Staff where great, we where given free Indian sweets at the end of our visit which was a bonus. If your a vegetarian or simply are looking to eat good valued Indian food this is the place on Belgrave Road.

Yelp
Superb, friendly, comfortable Indian restaurant with a huge choice for vegetarians and vegans. I can't believe that mine is the first review! It's a really excellent place to eat and the food is completely delicious. Good value too. One of many vegetarian restaurants in this district of Leicester.

Yelp
Just as you can't say you've had a Leicester curry until you've had one in Belgrave, you can't say you've had a Belgrave curry until you've had one in Bobby's. You'll find none of your chicken tikka masalas here (not least because it's purely vegetarian.), just simple but delicious Gujarati cooking. Try anything with paneer, it's gonna be good. The staff are lovely, and gave us free sweets with the bill - a mark of a good restaurant in my book.

Yelp
5 STARS all the way... I have been coming to this restaurant for over 20 years and so have all my family and friends.... each one of them has been so happy with the result. Bobbys = great food ... great value for money and more importantly you are valued and remembered as a customer each time you come in.

Yelp
Been to this place a few times and the food, service and hospitality is phenominal!

Qype User (bhagva…)

Yelp
Quality of food has stooped to an all time low in the past decade, which has been equilibrated for with increased prices. Bobby's lacks the "Bob" it once had. the one good thing i will say is the service is performed with a smile & is faorly efficient. although on a more serious note, it is highly speculated that old Mr Bobby is secretly not a nice person! To summarise would i go to Bobby's for a meal? 10 years ago my answer would have been a resounding "Yeahhhh Boiiiiiiii", but these days its more along the lines of "NO".

Yelp
What a brilliant restaurant... My wife and I were visiting Leicester in the summer of 2010.. we were visiting the area for 4 days and because it was so good we just didn't eat anywhere else.. They have an "all you can eat" buffet at lunch time for ....get this... a tenner for two people . Incredible... especially when you consider the fine veggie cuisine.. They have a hot bain marie, a salad bar and a sweet section and a constant supply of hot chapatis ...fantastic. They also have a sweet selection for take away that is packaged in a nice box we bought loads for our friends and family... I obviously recommend this very highly ... enjoy Bobby's

Yelp
The first time I ate a meal here it was absolutely delicious. The second time I was really disappointed. The food was cold and wasn't very tasty. I was gutted!

Yelp
This reaturant is ok at the best, they were overpriced for the dishes they sold. However, their selection if drinks, savories and indian sweets is really good. The quality of this food is great and the service is good. The atmosphere is nice and the waiters are efficient and fast. All in all a good restaurant for snacks ans sweets.
