One of the hidden gems in Florence. The reviews were pretty accurate about this place. Great vibe with a great food. All the food that we ordered were absolutely delicious. I loved the octopus with mashed potatoes the best- really cooked well and the flavours blended well together. Great vibe to bring the family along. Prices were fairly reasonable for this place too.

This place is absolutely exceptional. It is located just off a little plaza so it wasn't obvious when we first looked for it. Our server, who is also the owner, was welcoming, funny, lively, and gave excellent suggestions. The female owner is friendly and kind. Communicating with them in English was not a problem. The interior is chic and comfortable, and they provide free Wi-Fi that is of reasonable speed. Now for the food: No words can adequately express how much I love their food. They are so innovative! I had the tropical seafood salad for my first course, and the tuna tataki for the second course, as recommended by the owner. The salad was mixed seafood on top of sliced fruit. It was gorgeous look at, and that fruit and seafood combination was surprisingly wonderful! The tuna tataki was seared perfectly, and the sesame seed crust was a perfect compliment to the fish. It was also served with guacamole and caramelized onions. My companion had the seafood and gnocchi for first course and the octopus for second course. The gnocchi was so soft and pillowy, and in a seafood sauce that was out of this world! The octopus was probably our least favorite dish, but it was still quite good. I think I just like the flavor of grilled octopus better. Lastly, we had a Berry Charlotte that was very pretty and tasted like an excellent mixed berry trifle. Boccardano is an absolute must eat place in Florence. I will definitely be back the next time I'm in Florence. TEN STARS (if I could)!

We had an incredible lunch at this place. Service and food were both excellent! It’s also a lovely setting in the square and would happily sit there for hours. We will be back when next in Florence ❤️

Solid five star restaurant!! We actually didn’t plan to have dinner here but I am so glad that we did. All the dishes we had were so so amazing we loved it so much. It was the best meal we had in Florence, even the entire Italy!

Wonderful meal and service. Our family had a wonderful meal here. The Salmon was delicious with a tasty roasted vegetable medley, the Truffle pasta was excellent. The steak was very tender and cooked to perfection, and my dish which was recommended by the owner was excellent and refreshing. Jumbo sweet prawns with watermelon and mozzarella. I left the best for last, we all shared the Octopus plate, and it was nothing like we would have imagined. Very tender, almost the consistency of a crab leg, not rubbery or chewy at all. Very good. We will be back.

Absolute recommend this place. Amazing food at the perfect location just below the piazza michaelangelo. The food is fantastic. Creative dishes and well executed. All fish dishes. Best restaurant in this part of town for sure. Run by a brother and sister and you feel the personal touch. The service is impeccable and so personal. Great recommendations for food and wine. If you like fish and good service, do yourself a favour and eat here. ✌🏻

A delicious meal with friendly, welcoming service. A refreshing break from traditional Tuscan cuisine. The pasta dishes were so flavorful and the fish - bream - was exceptional. One of the best meals during our two-week vacation in Italy.

Found this restaurant in this lovely small plaza out of pure luck, it was refreshing to get away from the busy center of Florence. The service was very welcoming and kind, they are pet friendly and my dog immediately got water and a treat. My partner ordered the Red Shrimp Risotto which was absolutely delicious, very balanced, creamy and silky. However that was not the case for my Tagliolino with scampi cream, which arrived slightly cold and had a dry texture. We had the white wine of the house which was light and fruity and matched our courses well.

It is a joy to write a review about Boccardarno. We ate there twice during our visit to Florence, and it easily bubbled up as my favorite restaurant in that lovely city. (It was actually my favorite restaurant for my whole three-week trip to Italy, but let's focus on this review, shall we?). The cover was € 2 each, and water was € 3. We chose a € 25 wine, and I had the € 20 fried seafood platter. I don't remember what my son had, but it was also € 20. My plate of food was *perfect*... lightly fried, plentiful, and expertly salted. We each had a slice of marvelous tiramisu for dessert (€ 6 each). We went there for our last night in Firenze (three nights later), and once again it was excellent. Our server remembered us, which I wouldn't expect anyone at a busy restaurant to do. On that night, my son chose the fried seafood platter and I had the gnocchi. This restaurant is outstanding. I can't recommend it enough.

Came for apertivo and had a lovely time. Sat outside and enjoyed Negronis, peppered mussels and frittino di mare. 5€ cocktails... NYC could never! Didn't have a full meal here but would definitely return to try more food.

Amazing service!! Had originally came in to buy a bottle of wine . Well little did I know that the owner Franco and his daughter Carlotta would treat us to one of the best experience of our trip. Our first visit we took our bottle of wine and had them make us a special plate of cheeses and meats. We then decided to come back and have dinner. We had their pasta with salmon and caviar. We also tried the pesto pasta, asparagus with pine nuts. Delicious!! The dessert for the night was a awesome cheesecake and tiramisu!! Everything is made in house! So we didn't get enough so on our last day of our trip we came back and tried seafood risotto excellent! My wife asked for a recommendation so Carlotta ask the chef to make her a special dish of San Pedro fish with thinly cut potatoes with mushrooms. Excellent!!

Love it! Lunch only had a total of two gluten free options and the octopus with potatoes was out for me so I opted for the chicken salad with mozzarella, olives, capers and green beans. Lovely. Simple, light and delicious. The wine you can pick any bottle from the menu and get a glass, I wanted to stay all day but my friend disagreed. Would highly recommend it. Internet service is not available but they have wifi and are happy to share with customers. Enjoys the entire experience.

So..this is literally a year late, but my friends are traveling to Italy tomorrow & I immediately thought of this place. This was my parents' and my favorite restaurant in all of Italy, so much so that we even went two consecutive nights. Food was so fresh & tasty (if you're a seafood fan). Even more fantastic was the service. Our waiter, Iocob, was the best!!! He was hilarious & attentive , and you could tell he genuinely cared about the food and his customers. (I hope he's still there so my friends can meet him!!) Some of our meal highlights were: €12 bottle of prosecco, Crab linguine & Crudité pesce. If I ever find myself in Firenze again, I'll be back!!

This is one of the most underrated restaurants in Florence. Reasonably priced and high quality, you can't go wrong with almost anything on the menu. Their menu changes, so there's always something new to try and you can believe it will be good! I would really recommend coming here before going up to the Piazzale Michelangelo for an amazing view of Florence!

I am an avid seafood lover...this restaurant surpassed my expectations...try the salmon tartare...grilled Shrimp in blue cheese.....but the jewel of the night the Tiramisu....you can just have that it is so creamy!!!

My wife and I and our two teenagers were recommended to visit this small restaurant off of the main tourist streets by a local, and we were so glad we did: we enjoyed it so much we ate dinner there on two different occasions on the same trip. The pasta was fresh, the steaks were outstanding, and the appetizers hit the spot. The two owners of the restaurant also wait the tables, were very friendly, and made us feel welcome. They also have a great wine selection, and our family of four ate a fantastic meal that would have cost us 3x or more back in the USA. If I am ever back in Florence again, I will want to stop by here again as it was the best meal we had on a ten day trip to Italy!

Excellent service - good lunch specials. Tiramisu was great even if it's too creamy. Pleasant waiter - accommodated us for a late lunch, after 3pm. Pretty much everything closes after 2:30pm in this part of the world. Coffee machine was broken so we got Americano instead of cappuccino - not so great.

We love fish We ate here four (4) times in 4 days; one lunch and thee dinners. Very friendly and helpful folks. Swordfish baked with almonds was great, and a huge portion. My wife liked the squid ink pasta filled with salmon, which she liked very much . Cod soufflé with broccoli cream sauce was unique and wonderful. Ask for their off menu specials. Wines are reasonably priced. Again, ask what's good off menu. They also have meat dishes, but we prefer fish. Did I mention it's cheap and cheerful

The best. Tried several restaurants in Florence. Kept coming back here. Best pizza. Best Tiramasu anywhere.steak and trufles is amazing as are the roast potatoes, crisp and soft with garlic and rosemary. Our favorite part of eating in Florence.

Excellent food and service! The young lady that served us was amazing. She was super friendly and even patiently waited and recommended her favorites to us. We started with the trataré and then had 3 different pastas: smoked salmon, tuna and mushroom. All of which were delicious and well prepared. Unfortunately, we did not have a very pleasant first experience when we got to the restaurant, we were told by a male staff that the wait was going to be an hour long. After walking away, we decided to turn back and leave our name. That's when the young lady brought us in, only to find two to three empty tables inside. I would like to give the gent the benefit of the doubt but overall, don't let these petty situations affect your meal experience. I only wished I got the lady's name so that she knows she totally made our night. It was an excellent first meal and I can't wait to see what else Italy has installed.

My newly wedded wife and I enjoyed a fantastic honey moon throughout Europe. The best food and service came from a lovely new restaurant in Florence. Across the river in a small and cute square we found Boccadarno. I lived in Firenze for 2 years about 10 years ago and I did not recognize this new restaurant after we were finished taking our sunset stroll from Michelangelo's Point. We decided to give it a try and found the service to be remarkable and the food very delicious. They specialize in Seafoods and I absolutely loved the Gnocchi. While many places in Florence can have snooty service, this restaurant had wonderful waitresses that were willing to allow us to practice our Italian with them. With smiles and helpfully answering our questions on the language, they also were there timely to fill our glasses and make kind recommendations. I will certainly be back, perhaps on our anniversary.

Our Airbnb guide, Luca, recommended this place and it was absolutely delicious. After walking back down the hill from Piazzale Michelangelo, the restaurant is at the bottom of the hill and it only 10 euros per person for water, first course, and second course. We didn't even need the second course because we were full from the first, but both were delicious! They have a great selection of meat (chicken, beef, etc) options for the second course, and great pasta and risotto selections for the first course.

What a great spot for lunch! Lovely people and better food. Great value as well! We took advantage of the lunch special combos, which include two dishes, water, bread, and a glass of wine for 15 euro. We had an octopus dish with potato, farfelle with salmon, and risotto with shrimp and zucchini. All were incredibly delicious. Highly recommended and well away from the crowds of tourists.

Delicious and wonderful evening. Hubby and I decided to go here for dinner. We sat on their small patio. Enjoyed a bottle of wine with our dinner. I had a delicious smoked salmon dish and he had crab linguine. Some work for him as it was in the shell, but he says it was the best pasta so far. Sat next to a lovely couple from England who we chatted with through dessert...tiramisu which was divine! The wait staff was awesome and very friendly. What an enjoyable evening. Don't think you would be disappointed by the food or the staff at this little piece of heaven in Florence.

My Italian partner and I got the slab of swordfish, swordfish pasta, with sides of roasted vegetables and salted spinach. The vegetables were quite good and we were excited for our mains, but we were sorely disappointed especially since the prices were on the high side. The pasta was rather tasteless with small bits of swordfish - entirely too salty for my tastes. My partner's swordfish was also tasteless & overcooked. The ambience & service are good though, but that's about it.

Excellent restaurant in the wonderful San Niccolo neighborhood. Besides the hospitable staff and comfortable atmosphere, the food is delicious. The tagliatella ai funghi porcini is delicate and the sliced beef with lardo was tender and cooked perfectly. Do not skip desert as the Panna Cotta was without a flaw.

I enjoyed my experience at Boccadarno. This was primarily because of my server, who was a small guy with an enormous and wonderful personality. He seemed to be everywhere at once, and was extremely friendly and warm with customers and colleagues alike. Without him, my meal would have been fine but nothing special. The food here is good, and so is the wine. The location is pretty convenient, but it's far enough out of the absolute center of Firenze to give you a good excuse to wander its streets at greater length during the evening hours. The patrons are overwhelmingly tourists, but that shouldn't prevent you from trying Boccadarno. I recommend this place!

Stopped here always looking for a neighborhood restaurant that is more equipped for excellent food than for tourists. We got really lucky stopping here. We had dishes recommended by staff and we were highly plwased. The menu has no English which Is a good sign but staff will help. They specialize in fish. The place is great in a sweet little wide spot in the road. I'm very happy!

Fantastic food. The seafood risotto was incredible - more seafood than rice! And the pasta tartufo was divine. I had to pause after every bite it was so good. It was a brother and sister serving everyone and both so lovely and helpful. We even said grazie to the chefs who came out to meet us! Just be prepared for a 2-3 hour dining experience!

Great food with attentive staff. Enjoyed seafood risotto and ahi tuna, both ample portions, either would have been enough, but it was so good! My wife's steak could have been rarer. I want to return for the large prime steak I saw served to another table, even though Italy imports most meat. Enjoy!

I ate here with a friend on our last night in Florence. They seated us for dinner at 10 pm when things were slowing down for them and were friendly and accommodating. The waiter was funny and joked with us and helped us pick out a delicious dinner. We ordered the caponata which was flavorful and delicious and truffle pasta which was creamy with an intense truffle flavor. It's a great location away from all the super touristy action on the other side of the Arno. I would definitely return next time I am in Florence.

My wife and I had the best meal of our stay in Firenze at this perfect little restaurant. Lunch prices were excellent, servers were very welcoming, friendly, and accommodating. Most importantly, of course, the food was amazing. Highly recommend ordering seafood here, since that is their specialty. Other dishes were very good but not the highlight. The seafood risotto was the best risotto we've ever had, and the strawberry cheesecake was the best cheesecake we've ever had- and we have very high standards for both. House wines were inexpensive and above average in quality. They had many bottles of wine available for purchase as well. For food, service, and price, you won't find anything better around La Porta San Miniato in Firenze.

It was very good and reasonably priced. Great atmosphere. Just a present experience.
